Avebury, Wiltshire. 7th November, 2019. A rather damp day... but the stones were calling me back again. The photos show views within the inner and outer stone rings, the surrounding bank and exploration of processional way. The day was marked by ravens and a hind deer. A special place for self-healing and happy times. For this day though, a place to 'touch base' pending change. #jera #jerarune #eihwaz #eihwazrune #stonecircle #avebury #aveburystones #neolithicmonument #nationaltrust #wiltshire #giftsofheimdall (at Avebury, Wiltshire) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4i1EYPnP7C/?igshid=2g1z2rtzq22z

Llety'r Filiast, on the Great Orme, Llandudno. Built between 4,000-6,000 years ago in the Neolithic, the stone seems very friable, and the capstone has shattered. It's a funny little burial chamber, hard up against a housing estate, in a field of donkeys, with the rediscovered Bronze Age copper mines just a hundred yards away. pentre_ifan. dolmen or cromlech. pembrokeshire. among the earliest neolithic monuments and still the subject of much conjecture as to their use and meaning. a phased monument added and embellished over many centuries ending in a long mound and court. the mound used to raise its mega tonne capstone. or was it always more or less as we view it today an open monument with its impressive capstone seemingly floating above the ground. this floating achieved as with other similar sites by resting it on three or four pointed stones but accompanied by others, deliberately not reaching the capstone as if to emphasise the floating phenomena - seemingly not brought to site but lifted up from a insitu erratic its underside deliberately flattened either by splitting or as in other sites by careful pecking at its undersurface. the careful selection and positioning of its stones, the attention to the deliberate articulation of its capstone, the discovery of the in situ pit from which it was raised all suggest this was not designed to be buried under a mound but displayed and revered for all to see. an ancient architecture of gravity defying levitation. . . . #ancientarchitecture #megalith #pentreifan #floatingcapstone #capstone #neolithic #neolithicmonuments #neolithicbritain #dolmen #cromlech #standingstones #levitation #ancientwisdom #montageconstruction . . . see montagecity.com https://instagr.am/p/CH96BJIn7t1/

Standing stone, Bwlch y Ddeufaen, Conwy Valley. The legend is that two giants, a woman and her husband, were walking over the bwlch - the pass in the mountains. The woman was carrying an apron full of stones to build their house. But she grew tired, and they stopped and quarreled right there on the mountain. She threw down her apronful of stones onto the ground, and the two giants were turned to stone right where they stood. A Roman road passes through this place, and a drover's road.
