Are you named after anyone? - Not that I know

When was the last time you cried? - Hum... I got a bit teary the other day when I saw a video of that scene in Homeward Bound... if you know you know xD (does it count?)

Do you have kids? - Nope.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? - Me? Sarcastic? No, never. xD

What sports do you play/have you played? - None? I played a few in school but never seriously. I've tried to learn archery though, but haven't touched my bow in ages.

What’s the first thing you notice about other people? - Eye color, I don’t know why but it’s the first thing I look at.

Eye colour? - Brown. But sometimes they’re green, or hazel,... depends on the light, really.

Scary movies or happy endings? - Happy endings, I can’t watch scary movies, just can’t xD

Any special talents? - I can draw and sculpt things, don't know if it counts as a special talent though.

Where were you born? - Central Portugal, that specific place that gets above 40ºC (104ºF) most summer days...

What are your hobbies? - Drawing, sculpting, gaming, reading, movies, series, legos, music...

Some simblr appreciation posts are floating around and I’m really happy to have been tagged. Please indulge me while I reel off some favourite simblrs in return.

This is all under the cut because I got a bit carried away. And I still haven’t had a chance to tag everyone I wanted to.

Firstly thank you for the tags to @alpine-lapine - an actual magician at reshade and poses - and @enchanting-whim, who has such a gift for creating a mood in her posts.

Some of my favourite simblrs create their own lovely things and also find and share great stuff from others. Their blogs are a showcase for creativity, and they’ve helped me to make new discoveries and have inspired me to share the things I love. They are, in no particular order:

 - @holocene-sims: whose own posts are beautiful and who has an eye for beauty in other people’s work.  - @titosims: captures funny and sweet everyday moments in their own game, and shares so much great stuff.  - @tipsy-clouds: a kind presence on here, shares her knowledge freely, and her recolours are *chef’s kiss*.  - @helloavocadooo: my go-to blog for ‘what pretty and fun posts did I miss on simblr lately’, and whose own posts remind me that this game can be fun.  - @sweetpyxels: makes the kind of lovely sims that you just want to be happy.  - @plumiipixel: equally great at creating badass sims with attitude and cute sims who you want to squeeze.   - @idyllicephemera: creates a lovely world where the colours are soft and the sims are outrageously cute. - @bakersimmer: so talented, especially at capturing family relationships.  - @ellemant: magics up the perfect atmosphere for every screenshot, including a kind of buttery light that makes everything look amazing.  - @moonlightruby: her sims portraits are phenomenal, her gameplay is fun, and she unearths great cc and resources like she has some sort of simblr treasure-hunting device.

1. What do you have under your bed? I have a storage bag full of blankets - between me, my mom, my grandmother (RIP), my partner's mom & grandmother, we have a lot of knit & crochet blankets that we don't know what to do with and would feel guilty if we got rid of them. And yes, we have plenty around the house too.

Anyway, there's that and probably some of my cat's toys.

2. Favorite candy? (be very specific if possible)  I actually don't eat a lot of candy or sweets to be honest. I'm quite fond of dark chocolate though and I do love the Trader Joe's dark chocolate peanut butter cups.

3. Describe your favorite shirt:  Right now it's a black long sleeved tee I sewed up recently. I have a lot of black tees but this one's now a favorite. It's a cotton/bamboo blend, hip length and has a scoop neck. There's not much else to it but it's really comfy.

4. The last thing you drew/doodled was:  Probably some stars I doodled during a meeting, but honestly I knit during boring meetings so I don't really doodle that much. I'm not much of an artist.

5. Are you completely sober rn?  Well...I am drinking a cider (Prickly Pear by TwoTowns Ciders, yum) so no.

6. What’s the one thing that annoys you more than anything?  I could say a lot of things that makes me furious in the world but to keep it lighter I'll say someone talking to me when I'm reading.

7. Have you ever gotten your tongue stuck to a cold pole during winter?  Nope. That sounds horrible.

8. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?  Hard to say since I'm such a homebody. Maybe in a house on the coast with a perfect view of the ocean so I can just sit & watch the waves.

i love kinder bueno. anything hazelnut and i’m in, honestly.

it’s this super soft 100% cotton grey marl lake michigan t-shirt. i’m not usamerican so i don’t really know where it appeared from. but it’s so, so comfy.

i’m not completely sure, but it was probably flowers or spirals.

oui!

6. What’s the one thing that annoys you more than anything? 

honestly, i’m a professional hater and an aries so my biggest annoyances change with the weather. however, i did see a pair of little girls dress-up/“toy” high heels before and that sent me in a spiral for a whole hour so… i’m gonna say the insidious ways that society forces gender roles and expectations on to children.

Hello! I didn't make any fancy wall cc for the ceiling tiles preview photo. They're just the Sound Off walls from Get Famous :)

Under the cut I've provided some instruction and details:

Start by creating a 3x3 tile space using the 2.0 Height half walls:

2. Then add the Sound Off Fabric Paneling wallpaper tile to all of the walls and cut 2 walls for an opening so your sims can get in there:

I made the decision based on the quality of the shirt and the design. It’s a long sleeve black Fresh Prince (Bel Air) shirt!

A Squirrel I was in a park last month and they kept passing me. 

5. Are you completely sober rn?

EXTREMELY. I used to both drink and smoke (Mary Jane) but I’ve given both up. I prefer to be sober during this season of my life. 

6. What’s the one thing that annoys you more than anything?

This was difficult for me to answer. I’d say people having the inability to see and accept different perspectives on some things. I understand our perspectives in life come from our lived experience and maybe even our environments (family, friends, towns etc...) but I don’t think it’s that hard to empathize with others. <3

No! I barely want to touch things outside let alone put my actual tongue on them.

CSU’s museum studies grads bring the past back to life

Sarah Nemeth has a passion for history and for passing her love of the past on to others. She saw Cleveland State University’s Museum Studies Program as a perfect educational pathway to a career focused on preserving the past for future generations.

But at CSU the second-year graduate student hasn’t just learned about museums, she has gotten the opportunity to test her skills and learn on the job, providing valuable experience and connections that will give her a leg up when entering the field following graduation.

While attending CSU, Nemeth interned for Shaker Heights Historical Society and Museum, a small community institution in Shaker Heights, Ohio. There she conducted a site evaluation designed to improve user experience and enhance the institution’s use of technology, which ultimately led to the development of the website ShakerHistory.org.

“The museum field is a very tight-knit community and can be hard to break into as a new graduate,” Nemeth says. “Through the program at CSU I have been able to work on substantive projects for a leading local museum, gain invaluable experience while still in school, and make significant contributions that will improve the community’s understanding of the fascinating history of Northeast Ohio.”

The Museum Studies Program is offered as a specialization within the Master’s in History degree at Cleveland State and is unique in its focus on experiential learning. All students are required to complete at least one internship at a museum as part of their program, and classes also regularly include tours of local institutions and guest lectures by working professionals in the field. The program is also enhanced by CSU’s numerous community partnerships with area arts organizations, as well as the presence on campus of a nationally recognized history research lab, the Center for Public History and Digital Humanities, and a working art gallery, The Galleries at CSU.

“Students really have access to incredible experiential resources and mentors,” notes Robert Thurmer, director of the Galleries at CSU, who also teaches in the Museum Studies Program. “They can assist in curating shows for prominent artists right here on campus, and then gain further experience through work at the internationally-known museums that call Northeast Ohio home, from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame to the Cleveland Museum of Art and Cleveland Museum of Natural History.”

The success of the program’s innovative mission can be seen through the accomplishments of its increasingly prominent alumni, which include Matt Seaman, collections and traveling exhibits manager at the Rock & Roll of Fame; Sule Holder, assistant librarian at the Rock Hall; Olivia Garl, curator of Nebraska’s Legacy of the Plains Museum; and Michelle Epps, president of the National Emerging Museum Professionals Network.

“I have always loved music and history, and being able to combine both through my work at the Rock Hall is truly a dream come true,” says Holder, who originally obtained an internship at the Hall of Fame after learning about the opportunity when Seaman gave a guest lecture in one of his classes.

“Given the importance of networking and prior experience in the museum industry, internships are central to a successful career in the field,” Seaman adds. “CSU’s Museum Studies program gives student’s the flexibility to actively engage with the wider museum community.”

In an effort to help current students like Nemeth enhance their networks and gain a better foothold earlier on in the industry, Seaman and Epps cofounded the Cleveland Chapter of the National Emerging Museum Professionals Network. The organization seeks to bring together younger professionals in the field to enhance communication and connections, while also providing job search support, information on various industry professional societies and a sounding board for what to do next.

“CSU provided me with significant assistance in gaining the expertise and support network necessary to be a successful museum professional, and I want to provide that same support to the next generation,” says Epps, who became national president of NEMPN last year. She also serves as the community engagement manager for Cleveland’s SPACES Gallery after previously serving as director of education for the International Women’s Air and Space Museum.

“Working in museums, you literally get to be a caretaker for our nation’s history,” Epps adds. “I am so proud to be able to help provide that opportunity to others who are just as passionate about this field as I am.”
