THE BEST WRITTEN SONGS OF ALL-TIME
Because I have zero innate musical ability, the idea that someone can sit down with a musical instrument, and create an original song out of thin air is magic to me. Songwriting is a craft, but it’s inspiration that makes a good song into a great one. There are songwriters who seem able to turn out high quality songs in perpetuity. There are others who write maybe one or two great songs, and are never heard from again. So, I made a list of what I think are the 50 best written songs I’ve ever heard. These are in no particular order. I’ve listed the title followed by the songwriter or songwriters, and in parentheses is the performer I most enjoy hearing do the song – although most of these songs have been recorded countless times by a variety of artists. You can probably find all of these on YouTube or any of the streaming services. Most have lyrics, but some do not. But, it’s hard for me to imagine any of these songs being recorded by anyone with talent, and not retaining the brilliance with which the song was written.

Im sorry i just had the MOST hysterical thought and cant stop laughing, which is a crossover au wherein Neil and Andrew go to england and Neil gets asked to go check in on a distant branch of the hartford family, this branch isnt involved in the crime business at all and mainly stuart is like attempting to give neil more family ties or something and so neil and andrew sit down to have lunch with charlie spring and nick nelson who have no idea that charlies mother comes from a crime family and think that exy is only “just okay”
It would be so funny, i dont think they would get along at all but it would be so funny

MICHAEL CREIGHTON'S ANDROMEDA STRAIN
Tumblr media
Continuing in the footstep of Michael Chrichton are two movies based on his book "The Andromeda Strain" 1971 and 2008. Personally I enjoyed more the later. But you can be the judge of that if you are up to it.
Following, however, is an excellent movie review of the 1971 film which will keep you on hold, which I recommend a watch and listen.

The Andromeda Strain is a 1971 American science fiction thriller film produced and directed by Robert Wise. Based on Michael Crichton's 1969 novel of the same name and adapted by Nelson Gidding. The film base book deals with a team of scientists who investigate a deadly organism of extraterrestrial origin on the verge of wiping out all human life. With a few exceptions, the film follows the book closely. The special effects were designed by Douglas Trumbull. The film is notable for its use of split screen in certain scenes. The Andromeda Strain is a 2008 science fiction miniseries, based on the 1969 novel of the same name written by Michael Crichton about a team of scientists who investigate a deadly disease of extraterrestrial origin. The miniseries is a "reimagining" of the original novel rather than an adaptation. In addition to updating the setting to the early 21st century, the miniseries makes a great many plot and character changes from its source. The mini-series has two episodes for a total of 169 minutes. (The Andromeda Strain (miniseries) - Wikipedia)

Tumblr media
The Andromeda Strain mini-series received mostly negative reviews from critics. The Hartford Courant called it an "entertaining piece of high-velocity intrigue." The Boston Globe found it unoriginal, although "sometimes engaging." The Los Angeles Times calls it "overwrought and dull" and criticizes its divergence from the original story. Entertainment Weekly complained about the slow pace and stated that "the cluttered remake mires itself in lab work, inane backstories, and bureaucracy." The New York Times stated that "it never grows quite suspenseful enough." Hi! I haven’t been able to have a nice or decent sleep for months. All because of an old love ghost who is haunting me again I don’t even know why anymore. Have you ever felt this way? And is there a book, song or poem or artwork or all of the above you can recommend me with this similar feeling?
I'm sorry. I am basically just one big walking love haunt. My predominant emotion is missing everyone I have ever loved. I wish I could tell you to do what I used to as a kid when I was scared of ghosts--just close yr eyes and say "criss cross applesauce, ghost get lost"--but I have taken this approach in adult life and it has proved lacking.
Prose works for this feeling that, in their different ways, make me feel like a hand is reaching out to hold mine:
Lydia Davis, The End of the Story
Sally Rooney, Normal People
Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights
Art book: Sophie Calle, Douleur Exquise (Exquisite Pain)
A few songs:
The Radio Dept--It's Been Eight Years
The Radio Dept--1995
Marissa Nadler--The Sun Always Reminds Me of You
Marissa Nadler---Thinking of You
Sun Kil Moon--Carry Me Ohio
Townes van Zandt--Buckskin Stallion Blues
Teenage Fanclub--If I Never See You Again
Bill Callahan--Riding for the Feeling
The Mountain Goats--Sometimes I Still Feel the Bruise
Simon & Garfunkel--Bookends
Bob Dylan--Most of the Time
Damien Jurado--I Can't Get Over You
Lucinda Williams--Overtime
Mary Lou Lord--Beeswing
Daniel Johnston--Some Things Last A Long Time
Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris--Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?
Blaze Foley--If I Could Only Fly
John Prine--I Remember Everything
John Hartford--First Girl I Loved
Sufjan Stevens--To Be Alone With You
Rocky Votolato--White Daisy Passing
Poetry:
Maggie Nelson, Bluets
June Jordan, Haruko/Love Poems
All of Gary Snyders poems for Robin. You can find a bunch in my tags. Here are links to five: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/47758/four-poems-for-robin

23 Tableaux Vivants from Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio masterpieces
The “Tableaux Vivants” transports the viewer into a magic world, where pictorial art and theater art gradually overlap to match perfectly. This technique, popular in eighteenth-century, has been recovered because of the intuition and sensitivity of Ludovica Rambelli, director of Malatheatre Theater Company. After her death, the company Ludovica Rambelli Theater committed to ensure that her research is not lost again.
Based on the “tableaux vivants” technique, La Conversione di un Cavallo is a work of great visual impact and yet of extreme simplicity. Before the viewers ‘eyes twenty-three of the best Caravaggio’s canvasses are composed by the actors’ bodies with the help of some minimal elements only, such as draped fabrics of varied colours and texture and other everyday objects. Just one stream of light brightens up the scene, working as an imaginary frame. The changes are all “en plain air” and Rhythmically punctuated by Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi and Sibelius’ musics.
