Songs that I think fit characters, ships, oc’s etc (pt.2)
Tumblr media
Eva Pearce-Maneater by Nelly Furtado (I couldn’t find any gifs of her pls forgive me)
If any of you have seen the show Murdoch Mysteries, you know that she was a diabolical villain. She was able to pull one over on Detective Murdoch and use men to her advantage. Maneater is about a woman “who makes you work hard, makes you spend hard, make you went all her love”.
Tumblr media
Ocean O’Connell-Rosenburg-Are You Satisfied? By Marina And The Diamonds
“High achiever, don’t you see? Baby, nothing comes for free. They say I’m a control freak, driven by a greed to succeed”=literally a good chunk of her character. As a former gifted kid myself, I know what it’s like to feel that pressure to succeed. Ocean doesn’t realize until it was too late that she wasn’t satisfied with her life.
Tumblr media
Hana Kuroo x Kotaro Bokuto-O Sol e a lúa by Pequeno Cidadão
Hana’s another character of mine, a 2nd year on the Nekoma girls team (and Kuroo’s little sister👀). Hana sometimes has a hard time coming out of her shell, unlike Bokuto, who is her absolute opposite. Wonder how Kuroo would react if he realized one of his friends had a crush on his younger sister 😮
Tumblr media
Simon “Ghost” Riley-Chamber Of Reflection
Chamber of Reflection is about self-isolation, loneliness and reflection. I’m sure Simon himself has had moments where he questions why he even chose his life in the first place. A life where he can never have peace, always looking over his shoulder. Ghost seems to ice cold on the outside, but after all he’s been through, the man on the inside is considering if his job (or life even) is worth it.
Tumblr media
Dipper Pines-Freaking Out The Neighborhood
I’m not entirely sure why this fits but I think it does, maybe on vibes? I don’t know, this song absolutely “summer-time shenanigans with your twin as you solve the mystery of your small town”. Also the line, “sorry, mama, there are times I get carried away” is very Dipper-esc.
Tumblr media
Chuya Matsumoto(JJK oc)-GO! by Santigold
Chuya is a second year, with a technique that is based off of a hyena spirit called the Kishi. She’s pretty much “fight first, ask questions later” and is pretty goofy and often not the brightest. Yet, she’s not to be taken lightly. She’s a powerful sorcerer in training, who does not like to be underestimated.
Tumblr media
Sayuri Fujimoto (Haikyuu oc) x Yu Nishinoya-make Me Like You by Gwen Stefani
Despite Sayuri and Noya both being liberos, they’re both complete opposites. Sayuri’s also the type to be “romantic feelings? Never heard of her”. But then Noya comes waltzing into her life and she’s just “WAIT NO WHY DID YOU MAKE ME CATCH FEELINGS”

Perfume Week Day 6: The Cobra & The Canary
Imaginary Authors is a unique parfumerie whose fragrances are inspired by make-believe novels. Each of their fifteen perfumes is accompanied by its own story, complete with back-cover blurb, author, and even a specially-designed bookmark—A truly holistic approach to fragrance. With niche notes like fresh tennis ball and asphalt, their blends stand out as artisanal and conceptual works of wearable art.
Over the next week, I’ll be doing daily reviews of seven Imaginary Authors perfumes, each paired with its own playlist inspired by its scent and story—The only response I could see fit for a perfume line with such layered, multi-sensory consideration of what fragrance can achieve. Happy #perfumeweek <3
Tumblr media
The Cobra & The Canary smells like the chase—Like meeting eyes with a leather-clad Casanova across the bar, like aftershave, like speeding off in his ‘64 convertible, top down. With strong notes of leather, lemon, and tobacco flower, The Cobra & The Canary is undeniably mysterious, magnetic.
The cologne was inspired by hot, hazy weekends, by country rides in vintage cars, pausing at seedy motels with cool swimming pools and hot debutantes, pouring cocktails and cigarette smoke.
At first the cologne comes off cool, nonchalant. But as the night winds down, The Cobra & The Canary begins to reveal its true colors: Softer, more delicate and mature. Sensitive notes of hay field and orris emerge, as the aroma becomes floral, woody, sun-baked.
The Cobra & The Canary is an edgy scent that comes off strong before opening up and showing its vulnerable side. It’s the kind of cologne that’ll have you saying, “He’s not like other guys—He’s sensitive.” And meaning it.
The Cobra & The Canary: The Playlist
Carrie Underwood - Cowboy Casanova
Paula Abdul - Cold Hearted
Nelly Furtado - Maneater
Boney M. - Daddy Cool
ABBA - Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)
Kesha - Your Love Is My Drug
Beyoncé, JAY-Z  - Drunk In Love
Carly Pearce - Hide The Wine
Taylor Swift - Our Song
Sam Cook - Body Like A Back Road

Excerpt from The New York Times July 1st 1927
Tumblr media
'Tracking Down Hoodoo Men in the 20's'
Article from The Times - July 11 1927
Does a Negro woman's husband gulp down his evening meal, reach for his hat, announce that he is "going for a walk," setting out to get a cigar, starting for a lodge meeting, calling on a sick friend, or give any other of the ancient husbandly pretexts for effecting an egress from his home, what steps are proper for his wife to take? Not tears or smiles, not reproaches or endearments, not cries or kisses, according to Negro "Dr." Samuel Kojoe Pearce, lodged last week in a St. Louis jail. The correct procedure is to purchase one or another of the many potions, powders, charms peddled by "Dr." Pearce and most efficacious in promoting domestic happiness.
There is for instance, his Tie-Them-Down Powder, which, slyly slipped into tea, coffee or other beverage is guaranteed to fill the husband with an intense desire to spend his evenings at home. If, having been given Tie-Them-Down, the husband still shows no signs of curtailing his cruising radius, he becomes an "Aggravated Case" and the situation calls for Bring-back Powder, similar in nature but greater in potency than Tie-Them-Down. The Bringback retails at $50 for 25 powders; Tie-Them-Down at $25 for 25 powders. They are sold by the West African Remedy Co., the Pearce Health Institute, the Oriental Institute of Science and the Africa-American Institute of Science, all of which corporations have a very interlocking directorate consisting of "Dr." Pearce himself.
In addition to his powders, "Dr." Pearce also does business in charms. There is the Allah Charm, which will aid the wearer in contracting a wealthy marriage and is priced at only $3.49. There is the King Solomon's Wisdom Stone, "very valuable and charged with invisible life." There is the Black Cat's Wishbone, excellent for making dice behave and prompting the selection of winning horses. And there is the Lucky Turrarie, a general charm to keep evil spirits away from the homes it blesses.
"Dr." Pearce has done a mailorder business on a national scale; said he had received as much as $500 from a single customer. When arrested in St. Louis last week, however, he was unable to secure bail money and was therefore jailed while awaiting Federal Grand Jury action on his case. He was born in Nigeria (British West Africa), came to the U. S. from Hamburg, Germany, in 1920, claimed to be a licensed osteopath, and has "practiced" in New York, Detroit, St. Louis.
Negroes sincerely desirous of elevating their race last week agreed that persons promptly reporting other "osteopaths" of "Dr." Pearce's ilk would be performing valuable race service.
Some two years ago (TIME, Aug. 24, 1925) one D. Alexander, of No. 99 Downing St., Brooklyn, operated a charming dispensary with a stock remarkably like that of "Dr." Pearce. He had Tie Down Goods instead of Tie-Them-Down and King Solomon's Marrow instead of King Solomon's Wisdom Stone. He also had some additional merchandise: Boss Fix Powders (to keep employers well disposed) Guffer (or Goof-er) Dust, Happy Dust, Easy Life Powder and Buzzard Nest.
Both Messrs. Alexander and Pearce, however, agreed on one charm—the Black Cat's Wishbone (which was priced at $1,000 in a circular distributed by Mr. Alexander). About this potent charm the almost equally famed Goofer Dust songs have been written:
I swear to God my man's got a black cat's bone.
I said a black cat's—I mean bone.
I swear to God my man's got a black cat's bone—Every time I start to leave I gotta come back home.
And
Just sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle
Yo' goofer du-hust
And yo' little yellow Nellie with
the diamonds on her belly Will quit her razz-mu'tazzle, her
sneakin' jizzle-jazzle, An' come back to the Daddy
that had her fust.

Gwen Stefani gets a big bear hug from Blake Shelton after winning the Collaborative Video of the Year at the 2020 CMT Awards on Wednesday (October 21).
The couple were surprised to win the award for “Nobody But You”, which they were nominated alongside Kane Brown & Marshmello, Justin Bieber & Dan + Shay, Jon Pardi & Thomas Rhett, Nelly & Kane Brown, and Carly Pearce & Lee Brice.
“This is absolutely unbelievable,” Blake shared after hugging Gwen. “First of all, thank you Gwen Stefani.”
“Thank you!” she replied. “My gosh. I can’t believe it. Country music! What is happening to my life?”
Blake admitted in their acceptance speech that they didn’t they would win.
“I told Gwen, when I saw who the other nominees were in our category, literally it was like, ‘That would’ve been cool, but I don’t know what our chances of beating Justin Bieber are,’” he shared. “But here we are! So thank you so much… Fan-voted awards are, to me, the only stand-up award shows left in our industry it feels like sometimes. You guys are the ones who buy the records, you come to the shows, and you vote on these things. So we love you so much.”

Note
I haven't seen the glee project since it aired so I don't remember too much but I do remember that season 2 was a lot worse than season 1, aside from the things we've already talked about i remember Lindsay being treated so badly, yes she was one of the most skilled people on that show, that doesn't automatically make her a bitch. I remember Nellie and mckynleigh (not sure on spelling of both) being really good too. And Zach being hilarious. Oh also Ali won a tony a couple years ago! Alex has also been thriving on Broadway. I've actually been toying with the idea of rewatching some bits and pieces of that show but yeah don't really remember enough to talk more about it right now
Listen Lindsay was not only never going to win for, well, many reasons, she also most definitely got a villain edit and it's infuriating. I've heard about Nellie's treatment on season 2 and I am dreading it because season 1 was already plenty messed up. Oof, Vulnerability week.
Good for Ali Stroker, Alex Newell, Lindsay Pearce, and really just anyone who has found success since that goes well beyond what RM did/could have done for them.
It's all on dailymotion if you want to rewatch some bits and pieces! I watched season 1 on there and will be doing season 2 shortly. If you have any thoughts do share, it seems we have ourselves a Glee Project discourse lol.
