And then imagine having the nerve to carry on with hate in your heart and the arrogance of Jonah anyway.

The American Shop on Swansea High Street that's definitely a front for organised crime. It's a poisoned chalice, though. If you get pop tarts from a supermarket, they're made to UK standard, i.e. not full of laxative corn syrup, BUT they're only available in either chocolate or strawberry aka the most boring flavours. And they're about £2.50 a box.

If you go to a definitely-not-a-front shop, though, you get the Forbidden Flavours, like they sold in the UK in the 90s. As a kid I loved chocomallow, which the Americans know as S'mores. Also they have wild flavours that aren't really flavours, like birthday cake. BUT they contain constipation-be-gone ingredients and also cost £5.50 a box.

This last point is particularly interesting, because the American Shop still sells chocolate and strawberry flavours. Which means, if you want, you can pay double the price for a bland and easily obtainable elsewhere flavour that makes you shit yourself.

But it doesn't actually have to make sense, because it's a front.

Just in general I think trying to look to pre-late modern period history for validation of LGBT+ identities is an absolutely useless venture. Every single underlying human experience defined through the lens and framework of LGBT identity has always existed, but it's impossible to pin down Exactly who and what a figure might have been if they existed in this contemporary context and decided to self identify via these labels.

It's also a wildly reductive lens that flattens the complexity and variety of how sex and gender has been constructed across time in different cultures, how sexual norms have varied, etc. This is not a constructive approach to learn about history and you're never going to be able to fit historical figures neatly into little identity categories.

this is a controversial take but i don’t really think sexual wincest dynamic would be the same as the dynamics they have with girls. mostly because this interpretation tends to ignore canonical nuances that define sam and dean’s relationship, which includes dean’s extreme possessiveness, sam’s willing submissiveness with dean (especially when it comes to physical touch), the fact that dean is the only one with whom sam is able to be physically vulnerable in a way he can’t with anybody else, the fact that dean genuinely loves taking care of his little brother. it’s an essential part of their relationship, and it just makes sense for it to be part of their sexual dynamic too
