just read a bit in a fic where Ford pats Stan's head and calls him a "good boy" and Stan has an Awakening™ and i cannot stop thinking about it (its just a small bit in the fic tho, although I'm not caught up with it yet). you cannot convince me that they both don't have praise kinks

with ford its basically canonical or like, at least the fact he desires praise and basks in it (which bill gave him).

with stan i think its a bit different? like he desires praise, he wants praise and wants to be told something different other than the fact he's good for nothing, but i have a feeling that when he does get it? he freezes up. i can see him shrugging compliments off from ford, him just saying "shut up" while looking away, because it can't be true. He's always been the fuck up, has always messed things up no matter how hard he tries, so when someone (ESPECIALLY FORD, someone he cares for and respects and loves) tells him something that disrupts the perception he was made to have of himself, he truly doesn't know how to react.

And when he is able to un-freeze himself, he shrugs it off. Because he doesn't believe them. When you're told that you're nothing but a screw up your entire life, so much so that you make that a part of your identity, when someone starts to--god forbid--compliment you, its uncomfortable as hell. And it seems contradictory and makes no sense on paper, because wouldn't you want that? Wouldn't you crave all the praises in the world, because nobody has ever given you the time of day before?

The answer is: yes and no. Because it's one thing to fantasize about it, because that's all it is--a fantasy. A fantasy of not being who he is, which, in his mind, is a giant, walking mistake.

So, when Ford starts becoming nicer to him, giving him compliments here and there since defeating bill, Stan doesn't know how to handle it. It disrupts his reality, his perception of himself.

I think, if stan were to ever work out his issues, at least internally, or if maybe ford can kind of notice that there's a malfunction in Stan's brain every time he compliments him, it could be worked on. Maybe a chat about it (unlikely knowing these two), maybe a fight about it (more likely), or maybe Ford taking drastic measures like tying stan to a bed and praising him until he starts to believe him.

anyway. bottom line is that they both have praise kinks, but stan's is way more complex and less straightforward than Ford's.

Half-lidded eyes, black hair&eyes, small eyebrows, curly hair... Dandan's skin is lighter probably because of low sun exposure (dungeon), and he has tons of freckles because he preety.

This two are clearly relatives if not siblings.

Flertom is a mirror image of the lady up there. She got Chil's eyes. She even has almost the same haircut (a bit longer). She's clearly the mother. We've solved Chilchuck's wife mystery.

But this wasn't what I was going to say.

This implies that Wife and Dandan both knew Chilchuck since their childhood. Because there's no way that Chil was just friend of the sister. They're both close to the same age, and I'll say Dandan is a Younger sibiling (she gives big sis vibes, and he gives young bro vibes). So either she introduced him to her brother or he introduced him to his sister and they became best friends as kids.

Could you imagine how their relationship was after Chil's Wife left him?

He knows he has to say something, but he doesn't want to end his relationships. At the end he takes his sister's side. He distances a bit from Chilchuck, calling him an "aquitance" rather than a friend. It isn't that he hates him, is just that it's complicated. And they both know it. They're in good terms tho, they just aren't best friends anymore and they don't talk about it. Their worry is the guild, not their personal stuff.

That's why Dandan introduces Chilchuck to Laios. If they were in bad terms, he would've suggested any other half-foot. They both priorize the guild and general safety of their own race. That's why Dandan suggests Chil instead of a less experienced hafling. He cares about the union and respects Chil's time and experience in dungeons. They're on good terms, at least good enough. Summing up, I get the feeling Dandan doesn't particularly likes Chil after what happened with his sister, but he respects him at least.

The entire conversation between Gill and Chip after they realize there's a mole on Lizzie's ship is so.

God. Like. Gillion is in a classic romance novel and Chip is in a hurt/no comfort tragedy where he's playing a sad clown, you know what I mean?

Like Gill's entire speech is so full of classic romance tropes to the point that for half a second my French vanilla fantasy took over and I thought they were going to kiss or something and then Chip immediately breaks the moment with a joke about being a skeleton because that's all he knows how to do.

Like so often when they have Moments it feels like Gill is standing there with his heart in his hands going "take it, it's yours" and Chip has no idea how to cope with that. And I'm not just talking about from an Allegaytions standpoint, like. He literally has no frame of reference for that sort of emotion. It's never been part of his life experiences before. So he fancy footworks his way out of the situation with a joke because he has no idea how to reach out and take what's being offered.

And I'm over here losing my mind!

Samama Khalid is preforming literal freak behavior. This is the timeline for him so far:

He lost his job and so he goes to his ex girlfriend (who still has feelings for him and so they couldn't have been broken up with him for that long right?) for help

She gets him a job working nights for a creepy government agency that uses Windows 95: Haunted Edition.

He's going to be working with her every night.

A new girl shows up, he immediately offers her his ex's food. He remembers her food hiding places.

His ex teases him relentlessly about having a crush on the new girl. He doesn't deny it.

He gets a Haunted Email from Haunted Windows 95

He goes with the new girl to investigate.

"Investinging" is showing up at random peoples house uninvited.

He did this with no actual plan for how to bring anything up in a meaningful way.

And so of course it goes nowhere.

He tells new girl "Yeah I think I'm done investigating." He may be lying.

Haunted Windows 95 tells him directly he is gambling with his life.

He goes and asks his ex to explore a burned down building with him.

He literally actually says he likes the new girl. Directly to his ex's face.

But he isn't close enough to her to go explore a burned down building.

But he did use to close enough to his ex.

To go exploring burning down old buildings with her.

The only thing he knows about this place is that someone went there and probably died.
