“Are you feeling better?” Levi asked. His eyes glued to the view of the city. With the car parked, all 4 doors opened, and his ass rested on the hood, it reminded him of the day where he ended everything and fixed it from scratch. Taking you to this part of the mountain was nothing new. Each time he would visit, both of you would always stop by.
“Yeah.” Every blink you took stung. Moments had now passed and your breathing was finally even. “Sucks to be me, right? Coming to terms with these feelings for a villain, handing over a case, and now…”
“It does suck to be you.” Levi snapped back. “It’s your fault for having a type.”
“Excuse you?” You punched his arm. “You didn’t tell me you used to be a criminal when you were younger. And besides, there’s a difference!”
“What’re you going to do?” His eyes followed a flock of crows in the sky. Pretty rare for them to be flying that high and during this time of day. The sun was high up but the cold breeze compensated for it. “You’ve got a bunch of heroes eyeing you down now.”
“I honestly have no idea.” Leaning on his shoulder, you exhaled and closed your eyes. “Seriously, though? You had to bring me here?”
“This view always calmed you.” He leaned his cheek on your head. The scent of the meeting room barely covered the same shampoo that you still used till now. For a moment, a part of him wished he had not destroyed what the both of you had. Blinking his regrets away, all he could do now was to relish his time with you.
“Aren’t you being sentimental~” You could feel a smirk forming on his lips. Somehow, your mind drifted to where things had gone wrong. Distance was not much of an issue. It was probably the stress that your jobs offered that made you both realize that things might not work out. Or perhaps the insecurities that you felt with Petra. “I’m hungry. Shall we go?”
“For the record,” Levi said as he extended his hand for you to hold. His gray eyes were as inviting as ever when both of you made eye contact. “In case things fall off with that piece of garbage you caught feelings for, I’ll be here.”
“I know.” Squeezing his hand, the corners of his mouth curled up and that was the end of the conversation. Pulling you towards him, he draped his arm on your shoulder as the both of you walked towards the passenger's seat. “Remind me again why we broke up?”
Watching you take your seat, he leaned on the door and crossed his arm.
“Unresolved insecurities.” Sharing a giggle and chuckle, Levi closed the doors. When he finally took his seat, he revved the engine up and went back to the road.
Before you knew it, the days had gone by and the both of you were now outside of Endeavor’s Agency. Every so often, heroes would enter and exit the building. It was always a hustle and bustle in this part of town. Though it was no surprise. This was the No.2 hero’s agency.
Entering the building, you were greeted by Burnin’. A bright smile worthy of overshining her hero name rested on her face. Though the both of you barely did any missions together, she still deemed useful as a connection for hard to reach heroes related to Endeavor. Of course, it was rare for you to contact her.
“Endeavor is currently having a meeting with Hawks but he’ll be done in a few minutes.” She said. Pressing the doors to the elevator, she ushered the both of you in and selected the floor to the office. “I wasn’t expecting Ackerman to tag along~”
“Caught myself off guard too.” Levi replied.
“So does Hawks still exit using the window?” You asked.
“As always.” Burnin’ giggled. “He likes to leave a few feathers as well to annoy the boss.”
“Typical.” You and Levi commented.
When the doors opened, all 3 of you walked down the carpeted hallway. Just as Burnin’ was about to offer you both a seat, the teasing sound of Hawk’s voice echoed through the halls. Shaking her head with amusement, she stated that there was no need to sit and that their meeting was now finished.
Indeed it was when a feather opened the doors for you and Levi to enter.
“(L/N). Ackerman.” Endeavor greeted. The last name raised in a questioning manner. This would have to be the first time he’d get to meet the infamous officer. Gesturing to the large sofas he continued. “Have a seat.”
Facing his back, you could see the messy blond hair and crimson wings. Burnin’ wasn’t kidding when she said he likes to leave a few feathers behind. Taking a seat on the sofa across Hawks, you were met with a rather flirtatious smile and wink.
“Well if it isn’t my partner in crime and favorite chicken.” There it was. The voice that made women’s knees grow weak and panties to drop. Though you would be lying if you didn’t feel yours slowly slipping away from your waist. “Been a long time, ain’t it chickadee?”
“Yeah. After that grocery stake out, I’ve been rather selective when it came to random cases falling on my desk.”
“Those nuggets were shit and you know it.” Hawks stood up, eyes lingering on you. Making his way towards the window, he stretched his wings and fluttered them. One swift movement and he was now floating. “Well, Endeavor’s all yours. Call me when all this is over, dove. I got something to ask you.”
“Have a safe flight, Hawks.” You dismissed his message but would of course call him later. Adjusting your position, you turned to face Endeavor. No matter how much you viewed him, he was always intimidating. Probably due to the flames. It was a miracle Hawks wasn’t roasted with each visit. “I do apologize for taking a bit of your time, Endeavor.”
“It’s fine.” He waved it off. “So, what questions would you like to ask?”
“It’s mostly about your shares for these groups of companies.” Asking Levi to hand over the file, you accepted it and placed it on the glass table. When Endeavor seated himself, he reached for the documents and read through the list. His brows visibly furrowed. “Whatever minuscule detail you can think of, it would really help us in the arson case.”
“Arson?” He began to flip more pages. Blue eyes scanning the words in black and red ink.
“Don’t worry. You’re far from being a culprit. It’s just that your name shows for each holding the company has.” You scratched your nape. “It’s straw grabbing, I know. This case just needs a bit of push, whatever the amount.”
“I merely bought their stocks thinking it would look good for my agency.” Endeavor finally spoke after a long pause.”I apologize but there’s nothing much I can tell you about this. If it helps, I can assign a few heroes to assist on the case.”
“No, No.” You reassured him. “It’s fine. The HPSC took over and this is actually my last task for this mission. Feel free to keep that copy, though.”
Thanking him for his time, both you and Levi bowed and bid him farewell. When the elevator door closed, you began fidgeting with your fingers. The meeting proved nothing. Another dead end. The guilt of not being able to hand over any sort of information began creeping in. At least the case wasn’t on your hands now.
“If it’s worth mulling over,” Levi commented as the doors opened. “He was holding back information.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’ll tell you in the car.”
And he did. The second the doors locked and engine purred to life, Levi scanned the surroundings to make sure none of you were being followed. For more precautionary measures, he used his quirk to check if the winged hero left behind any small feathers.
“My quirk sensed sudden hesitation when he finished reading the list.” Looking at the time, he decided a meal was needed. “It was a mere second but I latched on to it. Assessing his aura, it seems as if big shot is hiding something. It’s up to you if you wanna tell the asshats that information.”
“How do you manage to sneakily use your quirk?” It always made you ask how he sharpened his abilities. Did his quirk evolve already? If not then Levi is definitely a monster.
“You learn a thing or two being in the underground.” He wasn’t ashamed of his history, either. Levi was about to continue till his phone vibrated in his pocket. Taking it out, he answered the call. “Erwin?”
Hearing that name, you had a feeling the call would be long. Holding the phone for him, Levi let go and continued driving to the nearest Mendy’s. Every few seconds he would hum and agree with whatever Erwin was telling him on the line. Before the call ended, he donned his signature ‘tch’ and bid farewell.
“I have some bad news.”
“Hit me.”
“I’d rather not.” He smirked. “Erwin needs me back at the precinct.”
“Oh.” Your shoulders slumped and sighed. “When are you leaving?”
“He said as soon as possible.” Your silence was something he did not like. Stopping at a red light, he tapped his finger on the wheel. “Are you scared?”
“About the coming days?”
“Yeah.”
“Not as much. I still believe that there’s something I can do.” You looked at the rear view mirror. “I honestly have no idea what I can do but my main priority would have to be making sure the heroes don’t catch me with him.”
“And how exactly are you going to do that?” Levi challenged. “You’re already on a case with him and I highly doubt they’re going to leave you alone.”
“Being on the case with him isn’t the problem.” Massaging your temples, your eyes landed on the take out menu Mendy’s had. Telling him you’d have the usual, you waited till the windows were close to continue. “What I’m worried about is if he finds out, he might not trust me anymore. I don’t even know if he fully trusts me.”
“I can assess him if you want.” He offers, his outstretched hand taking the paper bag.
“Can’t. He hates people.” Squinting your eyes at him, you pouted. “And, if I can recall, you took down one of his deals back then. So, it’s a definite no-no for the both of you to meet.”
“That was years back.”
“The man holds grudges.” You took a bite off your food. “It’s a miracle he hasn’t dropped by the apartment and talked about the updates.”
“That’s cause he knows I’m with you. How clueless can you be?” He flicked your forehead. “He trailed us the day I arrived. Though, I think it was mere coincidence that he was by that restaurant,”
Ah. That explained why he became pissed all of a sudden that night. It had been running through the back of your head, knowing his tendencies. But him being pissed about Levi in the same room as you? Butterflies began to flutter in your stomach. Overhaul was jealous? You didn’t know it was possible but here he was. Once more, excitement crept in with tonight’s possible video call.
“Oi.” Levi snapped your thoughts. “If you’re seriously thinking about mentioning my name to that asshole, i will not hesitate to rip that hideous jacket of his.”
“You’re no fun.”
“You’re too easy to read when it comes to trashman.”
Shoving your food into his mouth, it was satisfying to see his eyes widening with shock. A few minutes later, the both of you were now nestled into your cubicle. Remembering that Hawks was waiting for your call, you excused yourself and went towards the rooftop. Knowing Hawks, he would surely drop by the moment you’d call him.
Staring at the view from the rooftop, it made you wonder how it felt to be like Hawks. How would it feel to be able to fly and soar through the skies? Did he ever get sick from being too fast? Or was he now used to it? Dialing his number, he answered on the second ring.
“About time you called, dove!” The sound of wind breaking was a bit clearer today. He was probably speeding through the air. “You’re on the rooftop, I presume?”
“Only you can make me head up here.” Staring at the skies, you were now looking for the sight of red feathers gliding. “And, you’re probably nearing the area?”
A gust of wind hit your back causing you to lose balance. Turning around, Hawks took his headphones and visors off. With each step he took, he ruffled his hair till he was now in front of you. The sunlight made his golden eyes shimmer brightly. Or maybe it was something mischievous running through that birdbrain of his.
“Ya always had slow senses, dove.” He gestured you towards the shaded area. “Wouldn’t wanna let my favorite officer get sunburned.”
“What did you want to tell me Hawks?” You took a seat on the spot he patted.
“Just wanted to inform you about this case I’m workin’ on.” He pokes your cheek and hands over a piece of paper. “Open that when you're in your nest, lovebird. But, the real reason for my face to face visit is that my feathers picked up a rumor.”
“And that is?”
“A certain yakuza seems to be taking interest in the League of Villains.” Hawks nods his head and leans on the wall. “But the real headline here is that a cute officer teamed up with the mentioned yakuza.”
“You’re not suggesting anything now, are you?” You cocked an eyebrow only to be met with his golden hair tickling your face. Knowing how good Hawks was with gathering information, you let him lean on your shoulder. “I am. We’re working on a project together.”
“Annnd?”
“And?”
“It seems as though that yakuza is taking an interest in you lovebird~” His face inches away from you. Of course, this was nothing new considering how flirty he was whenever he was your companion. Your toleration skills were just high for Pro-Heroes. Or maybe it was because he was just dangerously handsome, you were willing to pull your pride down. “But I ain’t done yet…”
Furrowing your brows, you watched as the winged hero stood up and offered his hand. Cautiously accepting it, Hawks pulled you into his arms. Both your chests collided as he flapped his wings. Grabbing onto his jacket, you could feel your feet losing contact with the ground.
“Hawks, don’t you dare…”
“Oh, I do.”
Not wasting any moment, you felt the wind whiz past your ears. Not a stranger to surprise flights from Hawks, it was always a wonder as to where he would land. The sun was still shining and the streets were busy so there weren’t a lot of options. With that thought, it was now dawning to you that you might be landing on a high rise building.
“Open your eyes, dove.” Hawks whispered into your ear. Placing you down gently, he made sure to let you hold on to his arm knowing you weren’t the bravest when it came to heights.
“Why bring me up here you feral chicken?!” You clung to his arm. Heart pounding in your chest as your eyes focused on the ant-sized cars on the streets. “Wasn’t the rooftop enough?”
“I just wanted to know if you’re doing well.” He shrugged his shoulders. “Having a yakuza take interest in you, more so when he’s the head, is rather dangerous ya know.”
“Oh.”
“Oh?” He raised an eyebrow and stared you down.”OH?! How the tables have turned! You don’t mind it, do you?”
“He doesn’t see me that way, Hawks.” There was no point in denying things when it came to Hawks. The bird was as nosy as the word could get. “This thing won’t amount to shit. Whatever emotions I placed on the table, it’ll all lead to the heroes flushing it down the toilet.”
“So, you’re not shaken that you’ve caught the cooties for Overhaul? Damn, lovebird. If I knew you had a thing for villains, I’d turn over to their side~”
“You know I can give you a heart attack right now, right?”
“You do know you’re standing on the outside of a 780ft building, right?” Having you cling onto him like a koala made him laugh. Patting your head, he wrapped one wing around you protectively. Seeing how you let out a tired sigh made him think.
“You’re a double agent. How would you handle this situation?” The day you found out that the HPSC gave Hawks the mission of infiltrating the League was the day you despised them even more. Finding out that they would be taking over the Arson Case, only to be given the new assignment with Fatgum and Nighteye, it was the validation you needed. They were not to be trusted.
“Wow~ You’re not even gonna deny liking the guy? Gotta hand it to ya chickadee, you’re feisty for putting your life on the line. Career-wise, it ain’t looking bright if they sniff out you like him.”
“I know.”
“But, to give credit where it’s due, Overhaul is a pretty smart bird. Working with him, I’d have to be intrigued too.” Hawks eyed you down. It had only dawned to you how they shared similar eye colors. “I know I’m all for stopping them and making sure that heroes like me finally get some time off. But seeing as the situation your in is much more complicated than it seems, just make sure you clean up nicely. Be three steps ahead and use your connections.”
“Careful of Dabi.” You warned him. Humming his answer, you reached out for a feather and plucked it. “Now, if you have no other questions to ask, please take me back to the precinct. I have a guest and he has to prepare for his leave.”
Swooping you off your feet, you found yourself being carried by Hawks. At least this time, he let you wear his headphones. Securing it on your ears, you were now inches away from his face again. Remembering that he had piercings, you had to admit he made your heart beat a tad faster.
“You likin’ the view, dove?” Hawks was now soaring through the air. Being the object of your undivided attention always made him giddy. Having you wear his headphones was such a cute sight. But he knew where he stood. You had made it clear before that you would tolerate his behavior and that you only saw him as a hero and close friend. “We can always have a date if you like it that much.”
“I would punch you but I value my life.”
“If the trashy bird man doesn’t fully reciprocate your feelings,” He added before landing back on the precinct's rooftop. HIs eyes focused on the raven haired man leaning on the wall where both of you sat moments ago. “I’d say it but, I too, value my life.”
“Hawks.” Levi greeted the winged hero with a deadpan face.
“Ackerman~” His feathers ruffled a bit. Every single feather told him that Levi did not like the scene before him. Of course he didn’t care. “Just stole her from the job for a few minutes. Pro-Hero to officer.”
“I didn’t ask.”
“Whatever.” Looking back at you, he winked and gave you a finger gun. Accepting the headphones back, he wore them and fixed his jacket. With one flap of his wings, he now hovered in the air. “See you in a few days, lovebird!”
Watching him fly away, you could feel Levi burning his wings.
“He means well.” You defended the bird.
“You have a thing for birds and villains.” He gave you a look of disgust before opening the door for you. Offering you his arm, he held on to your fingers as the two of you passed through the hallway. Other officers stared at how touchy the both of you were. “Anyway, I have to leave in 3 hours. Will you be okay when I’m gone?”
“I will be~ Don’t worry~” That slight crack in your voice was a little too evident for Levi. Hoping he wouldn’t push, you were relieved when he gave you his ‘tch’.
“What’ll you be doing after you drop me off?”
“I’ll meet up with Nao at a cafe. We scheduled an updating meeting for the Fukuo Kai case.”
“Keep in mind that I’m only a call away.” He pulled out your chair and waited for you to sit down. “I may not have wings or be a B-Class villain, but I’ll always have your back no matter what.”
“I will keep that in mind~”
The hours passed and you were now waving farewell to Levi. He stood by the train doors before heading to his designated seat. The familiar sight of having to watch him leave was not the best feeling in the world but things needed to continue. Grabbing your phone, you dialed Tsukauchi’s number, to which he answered after 3 rings.
“I’m by the cafe, already. Anything you want?” His voice was upbeat today. There must have been an improvement. Giving him the food you wanted, he took note and proceeded. “Take your time, I’m not in a hurry.”
“Sure. I’ll be there in around 15 minutes.”
Surely enough, you arrived 5 minutes earlier. Walking towards your waving partner, you had to wonder why he was rather happy today. Were the updates he had in store positive? Surely.
“So, what’s making you all smiley and giddy? D’yu eat those euphoric candies again?” You teased.
“Nope.” He rummaged through his bag and took out an envelope. Taking its contents out, you accepted it and began to read the latest updates. It really was good news. The case was moving just fine. “Overhaul’s been very compliant, I’ll give him that. He managed to dig in a little more regarding Fukuo Kai’s base and confirmed how many yakuza under them.”
“That’s good to hear.” You nodded your head and continued reading the print. Not sure what you were looking for, your eyes mindlessly wandered and listened to his speech.
“It also dawned on me that Overhaul hasn’t been lying at all. I was expecting him to lie about something but my quirk didn’t pick up any sort of foul play in his words.” He continued. “Who knew he would be this cooperative. Maybe having him as an ally wouldn’t be half as bad as I thought.”
“I agree with your point.” That was a lot of praise coming from Tsukauchi.
“He also mentioned that you were keeping up your end of the deal quite well.” He took a sip of his coffee. “The main update I want to give you, though, is that with the information Overhaul gave us, the plan to infiltrate them can now happen in two months.”
“T-two months?” Your eyes shot up towards the person sitting across you. “That’s a big amount of time.”
“It is. The sooner we can stop the Fukuo Kai the sooner we can cut ties with the Shie Hassaikai. Or at least until Fatgum and Nighteye get them.”
“Right.”
“That is better, right?”
“Of course. It’s bad enough that we went to them for help. The media still has no idea and hopefully it stays that way.” The food arrived and you cleared the table of your things and papers. Once the food was positioned, you took a piece of tissue. “How many people do you need in the stakeout?”
“Ah. That’s also what I want to talk to you about.”
“Meaning?”
“Overhaul has one additional request.”
“Which is?”
“To have you, and no one else, be his partner when the stakeout comes.”

Episode Summary: The reader and the boys call in I.T. expert Charlie Bradbury to help track fallen angels with technology found in the Men of Letters bunker. However, they soon discover something more in the form of the one and only Dorothy from Wizard of Oz. Everyone joins forces to take down the Wicked Witch and her evil plans. Pairing: Dean Winchester x Reader Word Count: 3,116.
Previous Part | Supernatural Rewrite Masterlist
There were two things you were absolutely certain of; your head was killing you from the second time of being thrown around tonight against your will. And there was no way in hell you were letting some wicked witch control the boys like they were her flying monkeys. You stumbled back up to your feet and grabbed your gun for a precautionary measure if things went south faster than you could handle. You took pride in yourself being a good hunter. But even you knew this fight was rigged against your favor. The brothers had a significant amount of strength and height compared to you if you were to go up against both of them at the same time.
Charlie was still pinned against the broken window with Dean keeping her in place and Dorothy was on the ground, Sam looming over her after he punched the woman when she was distracted and unable to dodge the attack. It was three against two. The odds made it an unfair fight—for the boys, that was. Neither one of the boys knew what was about to hit them.
“Don’t worry,” Dean reassured the red head about the similar demise that was waiting for the both of you. “You and your friend will join Dorothy right after you watch her die.”
“Sorry. I really don’t think that’s gonna happen.” You grew a smirk when you caught the attention of Sam and Dean, distracting them momentarily from the two women in their grasp. “I’ve dealt with enough crazy for a lifetime, but I draw the line at a wicked witch possessing my boyfriend. Flying monkeys are a bit of an overkill, don’t you think?”
Charlie took the opportunity to do the unthinkable to her best friend in order to get away from him while under the spell of the witch before she could get hurt. She swung her leg up and kicked him in the privates, hard enough to make you wince from how painful it looked. Dean went sinking down to the ground as Charlie escaped and distanced herself from the man. Dorothy took her chance as Sam was focused on the both of you managing to escape from them. She grabbed a long pipe that was leaning against the wall and whacked the younger Winchester right in the face, causing him to stumble to the ground as well, letting her push herself up to her feet.
Dorothy didn’t think for a second when she threw the other ruby red slipper she had been holding over to Charlie, who caught it with ease. “Go! We’ll buy you some time.”
“Be careful!” Charlie shouted before she went running for the staircase before either one of the boys could try and go after her. Right now they were more concerned about the two other women who were about to kick their asses. Your smirk widened as you placed your fists up, egging them on even further to make the first move.
You had been in your fair share of physical fights during your time of hunting, too many to keep track of. You were taught by the very people you were going up against. And went up against monsters with equal or more strength than you had. It didn’t stop you from giving it your all, letting you come out as the victor most of the time. You didn’t think you had personally gone up against one of the boys in a fit of rage that turned physical. Most of the time it was you who had to break up the brawl that broke up between the boys. Now it was your turn to have a little fun.
You had to admit you’d been off your game ever since you stopped doing the trials. Dean had been doing his best to sideline you. It was your chance to redeem yourself and prove that you weren’t weak anymore. You could handle this all on your own.
You managed to shake off every punch Dean landed your way when you couldn’t dodge them. He wasn’t going down without a proper fight. And so were you. You threw a few punches here and there, taking him down from doing anything stupid. You showed no signs of stopping anytime soon when you laughed. “Oh, buddy. I can do—”
You found yourself regretting the words you were about to mock the witch with when Dean roughly grabbed you by the throat and shoved you into the nearest wall. You clawed at his skin in some kind of attempt to break free, but he proved himself more powerful under the woman’s spell. “My body might not be able to kill, Dorothy. But theirs can. And you will be next.” The witch taunted you back, chuckling darkly as you struggled to try and shake off Dean’s tight grip. “You’re weak. No match for me.”
You found yourself suddenly seeing red at her words. It was a trigger of some sort you didn’t realize you had buried deep inside of you until this very moment when they were spoken out loud. You swing your fist straight up into Dean’s stomach, knocking the air right out of his lungs and making him drop his grip from your neck. You kicked your leg and shoved him backwards with your foot, giving yourself some distance between the both of you. You felt your breathing turning into heavier pants from the anger that was coming over you and planning on lashing out at him.
“I am not weak.” You seethed at the witch. You found her words cutting you deeper when they were coming from the man you loved. “You have no idea who the hell you’re going up against, you bitch. If it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight you’re gonna get!”
Without thinking, you drew back your arm and got ready to give it your all this time, not caring about the physical pain Dean would deal with later on. You’d help ice his wounds and apologize when the time came. You were dead set on letting out your frustrations, not not taking into consideration Charlie broke the spell. You didn’t see the flash of emerald in the boys’ eyes and their deathly expressions change into confused ones. You only realized when you were left with a throbbing fist and hearing Dean’s infamous three words you knew could only come from him.
“Son of a bitch!” You heard him grunt out.
You furrowed your brow in absolute confusion from the reaction you weren’t expecting to come out of his mouth. “Dean?”
“What the hell just happened?” Sam asked. He looked between you and Dorothy, inspecting the bruises and bloodied up faces, wondering how you managed to get those wounds. The younger man was quick to figure out the answer when he realized he was holding the demon knife.
If the spell was broken and the boys were back to their normal selves, it meant Charlie had killed the witch. You and Dorothy shared a glance, mumbling the young woman’s name, half out of happiness at how she managed to save the day. And in fear if she was all right. The four of you headed to the front area of the bunker, cautiously making sure there were no flying monkeys or the wicked witch to stop you if she was somehow still alive by chance. Only you shouldn’t have doubted the red head. You stopped in your tracks when you caught sight of her leaning over the balcony that overlooked the ground floor. She waved the key and smirked at her victory. The woman managed to do it all by herself.
“Ding dong, bitches.”
+ + +
Everything was back to the way it rightfully was. The wicked witch was dead. You didn’t need to drop a house on her or throw a bucket of water to kill the bitch. A pair of ruby red slippers was the key to ending it all. Dorothy had the key back to Oz and Charlie got another chance to live out her fantasy of a hunt filled with magic and quests, even if it only lasted for the night. Not to mention the discovery Dean made about the bunker he never knew that right was under his nose. A garage stocked with different sorts of tools at his disposal to fix up the Impala and several classic cars to gawk over. What he was most excited of all was to have Baby near him. You crossed your arms over your chest and smiled in delight at how she looked in here, she fit in perfectly. Like it was meant to be.
“Baby looks good in here, doesn’t she?” Dean marveled at the sight of the Impala. You chuckled at how he was acting and shook your head. “Hey, how come you never told Sam and me about this place?”
“I don’t know. It sort of slipped my mind.” You said, shrugging your shoulders at the proper answer. “And I wanted to keep it a little secret. Just in case you both try to put me in the corner again when it comes to a hunt. Gotta make sure I have a good escape.”
Dean rolled his eyes at your excuse making you laugh once again. You looked over to see Sam and Charlie making their way up the staircase to join the rest of you after she got everything packed up and Crowley was back in lockdown. The redhead nodded for the older Winchester to follow her to the other side of the garage to have a private conversation away from the group. Sam headed over with something in his hands, a book he figured Dorothy might want back.
“Dorothy. I found something in the archives. Pretty sure it belongs to you.” Sam held up a first edition novel of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the very first book her father had written about her. She couldn’t help the smile that spread across her lips at the novel as she reached for it.
“You have no idea how odd it is having a series of books written about you.” Dorothy said. A quiet laugh escaped your mouth from her statement you could relate to a little too much to.
“Actually, we do know, and it is definitely weird.” You said. You and the younger man shared a small smile from the oddness of your life that almost no one could say the same for. You would be the first one to admit having a few dozen books written about you sucked. But you learned a thing or two along the way that made you cherish them. “But you know what? End of the day, it’s our story, so we get to write it.”
Charlie glanced over at the small crowd of three to see they were in a conversation of their own to wonder what her and Dean were discussing. She had been itching to get the man alone since the conversation she had with Dorothy back in Dean’s bedroom.
“So, thanks for the slumber party…” Charlie started off slow, easing her way into the topic she wanted answers. Dean smiled and nodded his head without much thought. He figured this was a conversation that was going to end with a goodbye. But she wasn’t leaving without a serious discussion. “…And bringing me back from the dead.”
Dean tried to give the young woman a confused expression from her accusation, pretending to wonder where she had gotten such an idea from. “Uh, I didn’t.”
“Don’t B.S. a B.S.er.” Charlie pushed for the truth. Dean knew his little white lie wasn’t going to cut it. She could tell from the way his expression changed in a heartbeat. She didn’t know if she should be relieved, or nervous at the consequences she was going to have to face with her new chance at life. “Am I a zombie now? Do I need to eat brains?”
“No, no, no. You’re you. You’re gonna be fine, all right?” Dean tried to reassure the woman that everything was the way it was before she got attacked. He glanced over at you and Sam to see the both of you were still oblivious to the conversation. And he wanted to make sure it stayed that way. “Just keep this between us, okay?”
Charlie rolled her eyes in annoyance from how secretive Dean was being with her. She didn’t know why he was acting like this. But she honored the man’s wishes from the things he had done for her. “All right, but only ‘cause you raised me from the dead, which you’re going to have to explain to me later.”
“All right.” Dean grumbled in defeat.
“Not bad for a bunch of librarians.” Dorothy approached the both of them just in time as the conversation was dropped once and for all. You and Sam followed behind to join the rest of them. “You mind keeping an eye on my bike for me?”
“Yeah. Totally.” You agreed with the woman’s only request. You glanced over your shoulder to take a peek at the motorcycle to see it in all of its glory where it had been collecting dust for almost eighty years. “As long as you don’t mind one of us taking it for a spin once in a while.”
“Deal.” Dorothy said. You smiled at the compromise and crossed your arms over your chest. It was a pleasure to meet the real Dorothy you had read about in the novels. She was strong and smart. Not to mention a Woman of Letters. A rare thing you discovered while poking your nose around the archives. You were happy to be not the only one to be able to hold the title anymore. “Thank you for everything. Now, if you excuse me, I have a rebellion to finish. So, you coming or what?”
The question was directed to Charlie, who suddenly looked like a deer in headlights at the opportunity she thought was too good to be true. “What? With you?” She asked. The grin that spread across her lips and the way her face lit up made you chuckle. “To Oz?”
“Yeah. You said you were looking for adventure. Well, here it is, Red.” Dorothy remembered the conversation she shared with the woman earlier. And she couldn’t have picked a better partner to share the adventure alongside with. “Come help find my damn dog.”
“You have no idea what’s in Oz. I mean, there’s flying monkeys, armies of witches.” Dean thought he was talking the young woman out of going to another world that wasn’t your own. Little did he realize he was pushing for her to take the opportunity. “There’s all kinds of danger.”
“Promise?” She asked, you felt your lips stretching into a smile at the sight of her happiness she couldn’t hide no matter how hard she tried.
“Maybe I was wrong. Maybe quests don’t suck after all. You just need to find the right one. And this is yours.” You found yourself taking back what you had said earlier. There was no denying this was tailor made for the redhead. And who were you to deny her the chance at doing some good? Your quest in life wasn’t what you thought it was. Yours was staying here, hunting and keeping the world safe from monsters. Hers was in Oz. “Go. Get your magic. Just make sure you kick some flying monkey ass for us, Red. You deserve it.”
Charlie quickly pulled you into a hug at your blessings. You wrapped your arms around her and pulled her into a tighter hug. A part of you was going to be always scared if she was safe, but Dorothy was going to make a great partner. And Charlie knew how to kick some ass. You pulled away to give the boys a chance at saying their goodbyes to the woman.
“If you need anything just tape your heels together three times, okay?” Sam gave the woman a hug of his own, making sure to keep the promise of always being here for when she decided to make her return back home.
“Me? What about you crazy kids?” She asked. “You gonna be alright without me?”
“I’ll make sure they don’t get into too much trouble.” You reassured the young woman.
“Take care of our boys, Y/N.” Charlie said. You nodded your head at her request. “And make sure you do the same for yourself.”
Charlie gave the three of you one final smile before looking over at Dorothy. She inhaled a deep breath and turned around with the woman to make their journey into Oz. Dorothy pulled the key out from the inside pocket of her jacket and placed it inside the lock of the doors. You watched as she pushed them open, revealing Oz in all of its glory. You felt your jaw parting open in amazement; you could see Emerald city in the distance and the yellow brick road to guide them. The scenery was gorgeous with its green mountains and miles of endless grass. It was straight out of the novel, better than you could ever imagine.
You felt a smile tug at your lips as Charlie made her first steps into the new world. She was the happiest you had ever seen her. The young woman stopped for a moment to give you and the boys one final smile. Dorothy saluted you as her final goodbye before the two women departed on their way. The doors slowly closed as they made their way down the yellow brick road. Deep down you knew they were going to be more than okay. Dorothy and Charlie made a great duo. They were going to have many adventures of their own. The boys opened up the double doors to make sure the entrance to Oz was closed. All you saw was the tunnel that led to the outside. Nothing else.
“Think she’ll be back?” You asked the boys.
“Of course.” Sam said. You turned your head to look up at the man from what he said next. A smile crept on your lips as Dean sneaked a hand around your waist, pulling you close to his chest. “There’s no place like home.”
In any other situation the words that came out of Sam's mouth would have felt cheesy. But in a way he was right. Home doesn't always have to be a place. Sam learned that from the lifestyle he led. Home can be a person. No matter where your quest took you, you knew you would always feel at home with the boys at your side.

======================================
Fish Bowl World
It was the year we stayed indoors, only half a decade after the entire city had gone underwater. For the most part, the entire population was rattled and anxious because of the uncertainty of our lives, as if we ever actually knew what was going to happen. However, as we all eventually do, we get used to it and forget how odd our situation is. Whatever is present isn’t odd and whatever can fit in a giant’s mouth can be eaten. I am writing this in my living room. The temperature is cold, as it always is these days, and my kids, Felix and Sam, are watching the outside world by the window. They established this habit earlier this year when the sharks finally swam down our street. I didn’t want to feel alone in my feelings, and so I’m memorializing my experiences and my thoughts, in the hopes that maybe when the debris of this modern Atlantis finds its way back home on land, granted that the sun has still not scorched the rest of civilization, someone might be moved and understand what a difficult year it has been for the rest of us and what a difficult life it has and will continue to be.
We learned all kinds of words we didn’t use before this year, like how a group of sharks is called a shiver, which makes a shiver run down your spine when you gaze at their enormous bellies from your roof. Most of the time, they’re quite peaceful and they slowly languid in the sunlight dancing in the waves. It makes me forget how many people are in those bellies and how they’re causing so much chaos in our predictable and programmed lives. Many people say that they needed this break and it was such a blessing, and in many ways, I agree, but I find it callous to say out loud, so I only echo it in my mind whenever I can lie down and feel the slightest warmth from the morning 200 meters away from me. It disappears quickly because a shark would pass by, but some days, they don’t and I get to watch my wife Yves fondly as she works on her paint-by-number set.
None us are sure, not even the government, why the sharks came, where are they from, and how to get rid of them. It’s sad how we haven’t even thought of a flashy, new name for the sharks other than a shiver of sharks. However, let me explain further. The sharks don’t actually hunt and kill us. We can swim out on the street and visit the neighbors or have a lovely dinner by the bistro that served 3 free appetizers on weekends. It’s just that no one knows what could attract the sharks and cause them to go rabid. There’s a difference in their nature that no one knows yet. Some stories get published online about how there are even children who have touched the sharks. It gets drowned out by public criticism since kids shouldn’t go outside when the sharks are so dangerous. Some people think the sharks are so adorable, but some think they’re holograms. They get reprimanded by people whose friends or co-workers were bitten, or worse, eaten by the sharks. But whenever I see them, I see only black eyes like olives and one time, a snaggled tooth by the edge of its mouth.
The sharks look like Great Whites, and most people think they are. But the news says it’s an unidentified species. The news is always done by the presidential spokesperson and his team. I don’t listen to it, but it’s the only way to get information that resembles some form of truth, so one way or another, I hear about it. But it never is enough for me. The same presidential spokesperson said that the sharks were Hammerheads when they first started appearing in January. Every encyclopedia about sharks were sold out because of that, because no one for the life of them knew what a Hammerhead was, but based on my own cross-analysis the sharks actually looked like a very delicate child of the in-breeding of a Basking shark (because of their normal state, when they would just gently swim near the pavement), a Bull shark (because of their thick bodies and their likelihood to attack people), and a Thresher shark (because of their long tail fins). You could imagine why it was hard to believe the presidential spokesperson came to the conclusion that the sharks were Hammerheads—sharks known to have uniquely shaped heads. By March, when the first casualty of the sharks were announced, the presidential spokesperson concluded that these sharks were Great Whites, hence why most people think of them as such. Some respectable people even refer to them as Great Whites, but they’re just unknown, deadly sharks who have found a haven in our underwater city. A month ago, the presidential spokesperson declared that the sharks were a sub-species of stingrays, due to their alleged “electronic” tails that resemble and function like those of stingrays. I’m not sure where he gets that information but people lap it up anyway. Now, the sharks are stingrays and tomorrow, the corals are towns. Who knows?
The TV commercials remind us to make sure our soundproof systems and air systems are on and functioning. If they aren’t functioning well, we should phone 00900-12345 to get it fixed. The bill isn’t grand when you do call them, but they usually have to call them once a month in fear of drowning in the middle of the night. Add all the expenses together, and it does become quite a sum. The soundproofing systems are a precautionary measure because although no one knows what the sharks really want, they do become violent whenever loud vibrations happen in the water. They figured it out when the sharks, as they were thought of as Hammerheads during that time, first showed up around city limits. The military patrol those areas to make sure no people step out of the city and die from lack of oxygen. As reported by word of mouth, it was an ominous scene to watch. I only heard about it when I was buying groceries to stock for a few weeks following the lockdown and the cashier animatedly shared the story, recounting the events and worrying for her own life and family because she still has to man the register so people could eat and go home. That morning, I dropped Felix at school and Sam at the day care, and Yves and I went our separate ways to work.
“It was like the Jaws theme song was playing! My neighbor’s kid was on patrol and suddenly, in the distance, they started seeing the outline of the sharks. You know the city limits? They’re scary! It’s endless deep blue that goes on and on and on. It gives me the shivers! And then, a shiver of sharks! You know that’s what they say on the news, yeah? A group of sharks is called a shiver. Anyway, they opened fire at the sharks and guess what? A bloodbath. They started eating and biting the military guys. My neighbor’s kid, he ran and called for back-up, but the general said to fall back or else, they’ll be massacred! That’s how the sharks got in! Dum-dum-dum-dum!” She finished off with the Jaws theme song. I saw Jaws with my family too, a week when the sharks came in. It did not help Yves with her jitters and the kids couldn’t sleep by themselves for a while, so we slept in the same bedroom for months. We couldn’t help but watch the sharks swim above our homes during those few months, so a lot of us were restless. It was all over social media, the way we coped with the situation.
After a few weeks of observation, the military general (the “highest” guy) concluded that the sharks didn’t like extremely loud vibrations in the water. Everything made sense. The guns were too loud and the intercity submarines were too, so transportation was halted. Most of us had to swim to work, so decent companies issued a work from home set-up. Regular schooling was out of the question, so children are being educated through Tube School. They send us videos of teachers in little tubes brought by the Messenger Fish and issued by the government. That’s where I learned that sharks sensed the vibrations through sonic waves. Granted, that didn’t explain much as it was for 5th graders like Felix but making sense of one small thing can do so much for someone who is blindly groping in the dark.
That lesson was delivered by a science teacher. You ask where are the scientists in this story? There are no scientists these days. No person in the right mind will exclaim that they are a scientist because all the scientist in every field of science have been forced to work at the air systems. They maintain the air that we breathe inside our houses. No one knows how they do it, but everyone knows that it’s the reason why not a lot of people study to become scientists these days. There are science teachers in schools but most science-related work is for the service of the people. It is modern slavery as people are held against their will and the military will do all sorts of “bargaining” with you. You will be called noble but you will never be able to see your family, that’s what being a scientist is like in the underwater city.
Now, everyone is only adequately knowledgeable of science, which isn’t good for the year of trial and error in order to get rid of the sharks. The presidential spokesperson advised the people to stay indoors as much as they can, but we’re about a year in, so some people have been going out with dusty diving gear. They swim with the sharks to do normal people stuff, and although I think it’s incredibly reckless, it’s also very human of them to do so. I go out the garden sometimes, just to wet the diving gear and brush the kelp I’ve been growing. It’s the little things that keep me busy.

COVID-19 and Eye Transmission: All you Need to Know
One of the most wide-spread viruses that has caused havoc on the planet earth is COVID-19. The virus spreads frequently when a person is standing less than 3 feet away from an infected person. Moreover, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the primary method of coronavirus spread is through respiratory droplets of saliva or nasal discharge expelled when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
As per the experts, when a contaminated surface comes in contact with the face, this lethal infection can make a person fall into its trap. However, there are some studies which have shown that the COVID-19 may enter the body through conjunctiva, a thin membrane that covers the front portion of the eyes and the inner eyelids.
At the time, when the second wave of COVID-19 has gripped India, it is advisable to take all precautionary measures while stepping outdoors.
Evidence of Eye Transmission In March 2020, JAMA Ophthalmology, a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal, published a study suggesting that this virus can be transferred via eyes. With a sample size of 38 COVID-19 patients in China, the study revealed that coronavirus has traits in common with the SARS virus.
Meanwhile, another study was conducted by the journal Ophthalmology last year which also found encouraging news regarding optical spread. It stated that no evidence of the COVID-19 was found in the tear samples of the patients.

Avoid rubbing your eyes: Dry eyes can lead to more rubbing. One must consider adding moisturizing drops to the eye care regime. If you touch your eyes for any reason- even to administer eye medicine- you are required to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Also, it is advisable to switch from contact lenses to eyeglasses as it will help in cutting down the touching of the eyes. They may act as a mechanical carrier to keep fingers away.
