What is Supported Independent Living?
Supported Independent living is senior housing that focuses on self-sufficiency. If your loved one needs a little help with daily tasks but not significant hands-on care, this could be the right choice for them.
You can access SIL through your NDIS plan. This article will explore what this means for you, including how to find and engage a service provider.
What is a CCRC?
Continuing Care Retirement Communities, or CCRCs (also called Life Plan Communities) offer seniors the option to live independently, then access care services as their needs change. Typically, residents begin their CCRC residency in independent living and can later transition to other levels of care—including assisted living and skilled nursing—while still living on the same campus.
Generally, a CCRC offers a wide variety of amenities and programs designed to keep its residents active. These can include fitness classes, art workshops and happy hours, and many CCRCs feature on-site healthcare facilities.
Most CCRCs charge a one-time entrance fee and monthly service fees. Depending on the contract type, some build the cost of future care into those fees while others offer a refundable entrance fee or refundable portion of the one-time entry fee to help protect your assets. Download our free CCRC Insider's Guide Workbook to learn more about this senior living option. It is a useful resource for financial or legal advisors as well as individual consumers.
What is an ILC?
ILCs are state-chartered institutions (currently operating in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Indiana, Minnesota, Nevada, and Utah) that under certain circumstances do not qualify as “banks” under the Bank Holding Company Act. This means that a nonfinancial company may control an ILC, and it would not be subject to the same regulatory oversight and supervision as a BHCA-registered bank.
ILCs provide property line estimates to help mortgage and title companies verify that new fences or other improvements don’t encroach on neighboring properties. They are also commonly used by municipalities for construction permitting.
In a sense, an ILC is a less comprehensive version of a land survey. For example, it doesn’t examine all boundary lines or locate all utilities. For this reason, we recommend seeking a full survey to get accurate property deed dimensions before beginning any construction project. That said, our team has decades of experience supplying ILCs that satisfy mortgage and title companies. We can also recommend the best way to solve any issues that an ILC uncovers.
What is a SIL?
SIL provides NDIS participants with support services to live in their own home or share accommodation, such as a supported living arrangement, community residence, or a host family. SIL providers work with individuals and their families to develop a personalised support plan that meets their needs, goals and preferences.
The NDIS’s SIL funding covers the cost of support workers who can help with daily activities, including cooking and washing. The funds can also help with accommodation costs.
SIL stands for Safety Integrity Level and is used in functional safety standards like IEC 61508. The term SIL has become commonplace in Request for Proposals (RFPs) and purchase requirements in many industries. Nevertheless, many engineering managers don’t have a full understanding of SIL’s meaning and how to apply it in their work. This course, AN INTRODUCTION TO FUNCTIONAL SAFETY, breaks down the basics and gives attendees a clear framework to follow. SIL can be calculated from the risk assessment methodologies PHA and LOPA, using probability of failure on demand or per hour (PFD/PFH) to meet a target SIL level defined during the allocation process.
What is a CIL?
Generally speaking CIL is a way to fund paid support to help you learn new skills and live independently in the community. Usually participants will receive this funding through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (the NDIS).
Development that may be liable for CIL includes new homes and buildings such as extensions, self-build houses and annexes. The levy is payable on any new building with a gross internal floor area of over 100 square metres, but there are some types of development that can be exempt or qualify for relief from the levy – see the CIL Guidance section for more details.
A key feature of CILs is consumer control – meaning that a person with a disability is assumed to be the expert in their own needs and circumstances, and should be at the centre of decision making about how they are supported. This is why all CILs are governed by a board of directors composed of people with disabilities, as well as other community members.

Navigating Adelaide's NDIS Housing Market with Confidence
Unlocking Opportunities: Navigating Adelaide's NDIS Housing Market with Confidence
Tumblr media
Investing in National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) housing in Adelaide presents a unique opportunity for investors to contribute to social impact while achieving financial success. As the demand for accessible housing grows, navigating this market requires a strategic approach. Here are tips for successful NDIS housing investment in Adelaide.
Understand the NDIS Framework: Before delving into NDIS housing investment, familiarize yourself with the NDIS framework. Understand the specific requirements for accessible housing and the criteria that properties must meet to qualify for NDIS funding. This knowledge is essential for making informed investment decisions.
Identify High-Demand Areas: Adelaide, like many cities, has areas with a higher demand for NDIS housing. Research and identify suburbs where there is a growing need for accessible accommodation. Proximity to essential amenities, public transportation, and healthcare facilities can make a property more attractive to potential NDIS tenants.
Collaborate with NDIS Service Providers: Building relationships with NDIS service providers is crucial for successful NDIS housing investment. Collaborate with organizations that support individuals with disabilities, as they can connect you with potential tenants and offer insights into the specific needs of the disability community.
Ensure Accessibility Features: Properties intended for NDIS housing must meet certain accessibility standards. Ensure that the properties you invest in have appropriate modifications and features such as ramps, wider doorways, and accessible bathrooms. Prioritize universal design principles to cater to a diverse range of disabilities.
Stay Informed About NDIS Policy Changes: NDIS policies and guidelines may evolve, impacting the eligibility criteria for housing investments. Stay informed about any policy changes to ensure ongoing compliance and to adapt your investment strategy accordingly.
Seek Professional Guidance: Engage with professionals who specialize in NDIS housing investments. Consult real estate agents, property managers, and legal advisors with experience in this niche. Their expertise can provide valuable insights and ensure that your investment aligns with NDIS regulations.
Consider Long-Term Sustainability: NDIS housing investment is not just about meeting immediate demand but also ensuring long-term sustainability. Consider the flexibility of the property and its ability to adapt to evolving accessibility needs. Properties that can be easily modified or upgraded may offer better long-term investment potential.
Explore NDIS Housing Support Programs: Investigate any available NDIS housing support programs or grants that can assist with the costs associated with making a property NDIS-compliant. Utilizing these programs can enhance the financial viability of your investment and encourage further growth in this sector.
Build a Supportive Network: Network with other NDIS housing investors, service providers, and community organizations. Building a supportive network allows you to share experiences, stay updated on market trends, and potentially collaborate on projects that benefit both investors and the disability community.
Prioritize Tenant Well-Being: Investing in NDIS housing goes beyond financial returns. Prioritize the well-being of your tenants by providing safe, comfortable, and inclusive living environments. This approach not only benefits the community but can also enhance the reputation of your NDIS housing portfolio. Visit this website if you are looking for property investment consultancy in Adelaide.
In conclusion, successful NDIS housing investment in Adelaide involves a combination of understanding the market dynamics, collaborating with key stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards. Robert Maynard & the CDI
Here's an excerpt from Robert Maynard's most recent post:
...the Executive Committee of Centrist Democrat International (CDI) unanimously adopted a resolution stating that “Humanitarian Islam and the diverse strands of humanist philosophy that historically emerged in the West are kindred traditions, whose spiritual and philosophical values are consonant with—and, in the case of Western humanism, helped to shape and secure the adoption of—the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).”
Robert Maynard
https://whatisonthemoon.tumblr.com/post/189093787413/christian-democrats-and-humanitarian-muslims-unite
Thanks Robert, for your last post. Since I'm now curious about the "Centrist Democratic International" (CDI), I went to their website and found this:
Affiliations
The CDI’s European division is the European People’s Party, currently the largest European political party. Its Latin American equivalent is the Christian Democrat Organization of America. The Democratic Party of the United States of America maintains links with CDI through the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs.
https://www.idc-cdi.com/
Since the "National Democratic Institute for International Affairs" (NDI) is the U.S. affiliate to CDI, I thought I should investigate NDI as well. Here's what I found on their Wikipedia page:
The National Democratic Institute (NDI), or National Democratic Institute for International Affairs...NDI was founded in 1983, shortly after the United States Congress created the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The NED's creation was followed by the establishment of three related institutes, the Center for International Private Enterprise, the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, and the National Republican Institute for International Affairs (later renamed the International Republican Institute). The Endowment serves as the umbrella organization through which these three institutes and an expanding number of private sector groups would receive funding to carry out programs abroad.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrist_Democrat_International
As you can see, Robert, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is the umbrella organization through which the CDI receives at least part of its funding. What's kind of synchronistic here, is that I've been learning quite a bit about NED in recent weeks. Did you know that NED has a historical connection to the Unification Church?
Here's an excerpt from an article speaking to the "NED-UC connection" (Note: forgive the English grammar as the article was written by someone in Nepal who is not fluent in English):
Moon...In 1982, he faced 18-month jail-term in the USA on charge of tax evasion. With his fiery religious speeches, he gained certain traction among the clergy and conservatives in the USA so the US intelligence agency, CIA, had reportedly funded him through the National Endowment for Democracy to sabotage international communist movement. He also won financial support from Japanese millionaire Ryoichi Sasakawa for the same purpose. In 1980, Moon established anti-communist educational organisation - Confederation of the Associations for the Unification of the Societies of the Americas - known as CAUSA International - that backed the Nicaraguan Contras and allegedly financed a Bolivian military coup to depose a democratically elected government. In 1986 it brought the anti-Communist documentary ‘Nicaragua Was Our Home’. It propagated an idea called ‘Godism’ as an alternative to Marxism. Wikipadia writes: “During the Cold War Moon was criticised by both the mainstream media and the alternative press for his anti-communist activism, which many said could lead to World War Three and a nuclear holocaust.”
http://therisingnepal.org.np/news/27421
I thought the connection between NED & CIA was very interesting...didn't you Robert? Hold your thoughts on that because there's one more thing I'd like to get your opinion on...I'd like your thoughts on Madeleine Albright. I find it alarming that Madeleine Albright is Chairman on NDI's Board of Advisors (https://www.ndi.org/board-directors) while also serving on the Board of Directors for the Council for Foreign Relations (CFR) (https://wikispooks.com/wiki/CFR).
Robert! Did you know that fact about Madeleine Albright?! Even if you didn't, let's take a brief look at the history of CFR:
The Council on Foreign Relations is a long established deep state milieu. Although perhaps the most public of all such groups, it is nevertheless highly influential within the US deep state, and is often mentioned in conjunction with the Bilderberg and the Trilateral Commission. Its influence may extend to de facto control of the US State Department.
Mark Gorton gives special mention to the CFR in the effectiveness with which the JFK Assassination was covered up, noting that "elite members of the CFR such as Allen Dulles, Nelson Rockefeller, George H. W. Bush and McGeorge Bundy were sponsors of the JFK assassination. CFR members, Allen Dulles, John McCloy and Gerald Ford played dominant roles in the Warren Commission cover up of the Coup d’état. A remarkable fraction of the publishers, editors and senior reporters of the most important media outlets in the country were also members of the Council of Foreign Relations...
https://wikispooks.com/wiki/CFR
The JFK Assassination is a particular sore spot for me. In fact, I just recently finished some extensive research into the role of "The Umbrella Man" (TUM) in the murder of JFK. Suffice it to say, Robert, I'm not all that pleased that someone who is highly influential in the CDI, concurrently has similar influence in the CFR...which was complicit in the aiding and abetting of those who plotted the coup d’état that took JFK's life!
So, when you get a chance, Robert...please share with the readers here your thoughts on the connections the Centrist Democrat International (CDI) has with both the National Endowment of Democracy (NED) and The Council for Foreign Relations (CFR). I find your opinion important here since you've said the CDI is supposed to be a key organization towards shaping the geopolitical landscape in the 21st Century.
Of course, if you just want to respond to me directly (on this Blog)...like you kind of did the last time...that's okay too.
Thanks in advance, Robert, for your response.
'til the next,
Don Diligent

How Can ADEN and Other Employment Networks Help Job Seekers with Disabilities?
Tumblr media
By Mary Lynn ReVoir, Co-Director, American Dream Employment Network
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the perfect time to learn about the Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work program and the American Dream Employment Network (ADEN), a division of National Disability Institute (NDI).
The Ticket to Work program is designed to help people with disabilities who are receiving Social Security Income (SSI) or Supplemental Security Disability Income (SSDI), want to work and who are between the ages of 18 and 64. The program allows the beneficiaries, also referred to as Ticket Holders, to get free help with job counseling, job placement and ongoing job support. A Ticket Holder has two types of service providers from whom he or she can choose to receive supports: State Vocational Rehabilitation agencies or an Employment Network (EN) such as ADEN. The Ticket to Work program is voluntary for Ticket Holders, and they can change service providers at any time. This blog will focus specifically on the benefits of working with an EN, and with ADEN in particular. If you want to learn more about vocational rehabilitation agencies, please visit the Ticket to Work website
ENs aim to help Ticket Holders along every step of their journey to work. The services ENs provide include career counseling, help finding a job and on-the-job support. Some ENs offer services to Ticket Holders who want to work from home; others offer help to those looking for federal government jobs. ENs also choose what geographic area they offer services. Some ENs may only provide services in a given city or state, while others work in multiple states. In addition, ENs determine if their services are provided onsite or virtually. ENs may have a narrow focus, like individual stars in the sky, but ADEN takes a different approach and is more like a constellation. ADEN is an Administrative EN, and its network is made up of a variety of service providers who are scattered across the country. Many of ADEN's service providers help Ticket Holders virtually, so that they can offer services anywhere in the country. To find a current list of ADEN Members, visit the ADEN’s website.
ADEN has particular expertise in the area of Social Security Work Incentives and financial wellness supports. Before and once Ticket Holders start working, it is important for them to understand how earned income will affect their cash and healthcare benefits from the Social Security Administration. Ticket Holders who assign their Ticket to ADEN are given guidance in this area by certified Work Incentive advisors who are among ADEN's network of providers.
Unlike other employment networks, ADEN provides additional resources in order to insure that Ticket Holders can address their own financial wellness. They are connected with qualified personnel who help them examine their current financial health and goals. Once Ticket Holders understand their current status, they can receive services to help achieve better financial futures. Such services can include but are not limited to improving credit, creating a spending plan and managing finances.
Along with helping Ticket Holders reach their financial goals, ADEN, like other ENs, offers them ongoing employment supports once they have secured employment. Job supports can include having ADEN service providers help Ticket Holders adjust to new jobs or assist them in requesting reasonable workplace accommodations. The Ticket to Work program is focused on long-term employment. Ticket Holders can get job supports for up to seven years after they find employment. ADEN’s mission is to improve the financial status of Ticket Holders through helping them find employment and by assisting them in becoming informed about their benefits and about available Social Security Work Incentives. ADEN seeks to help Ticket Holders achieve their personal dreams. For more information, please visit ADEN’s website.
