Brandrep reminded me that NCT is not a brand, it's a group. And we keep forgetting it. Although, I think this distinction influences the approach of the handling of the units and solos.

For unit-stans the units are individual groups, so they all should be promoted at the same speed and have identical number of comebacks per year. For SM it is not so. The first full album was that of NCT (Empathy), afterall. 9 months passed between ChB and Touch for 127. Repacks make it look like there are more albums, but it is just +3 songs. Were they released as singles (single album usually has 2 songs), noone would count them in comparison games. It was 7,5 months between Regular-Irregular and Superhuman. And 9,5 months to Neozone. (I remember it felt endless because there were no Japanese Eps or repacks inbetween, heh) Around 7 months between Be there for me and Walk.

I omitted Japanese releases intentionally, because 127 doesn't go on music shows. Promotion is of a different kind. SK, the homebase, is not targeted.

OK, a unit should release content to keep the interest, and fans should meet their biases in person. But that again is not tied to an album/comeback (we do tie, SM - hardly). 127 had several fanmeets this Autumn and the anniversary shows in summer. Pretty sure the managers ticked off those boxes in their mind, heh. They fail to realise content needs to be very regular, "on the bit". The thing is, SM actually uploads a lot all the time, but it's mostly vlogs of individual members or mini-series for 2-3 members (like Yuta plus Shotaro content), which is supposed to feed the unit-stans and group fans in theory, but there are more solo-stans out there.

With NeoZone SM introduced track-videos and a stretched out promotion and repeated it with NCT2020. It was a smart way to push a (relatively) poorly known at that time group (and it really helped the group, it worked), the problem was that fans quickly got used to such full table, and started to demand it every single time. No track videos? Mistreatment!

285+330+331+41=987 There are no total numbers for solos, but let's round up to 1mln albums. 127 sold more than 2,1 mln albums this year. For SM there is no difference whether it's the unit or its members. And the group (NCT) fans were actually swimming in the amount of new music this year (sucks to be a solo-stan).

OK, unit-stans want units, not OSTs, NCTLabs and NCT-concerts. SM seems to actually take it into account, considering The Momentum tour with only 6 members (and Do staying for longer). Meanwhile Exo hasn't had a concert tour since 2019. (Btw, you know how huge the group was? The venues were actually the same size shortened 127 will get? (exept the Japanese halls, yeah, not letting that one go, SM and Avex).

My point is that, believe it or not, 127 is not sabotaged intentionally. SM just tries to sit on many chairs and regularly stumbles because of the perpetual last-minute&hurry up (the case of Dream being in Europe during the release of their album).

Wow! Look what I've discovered! Ah, I miss the times of proper sites~ All NCT songs and albums nifty database. Sadly, not up to date.

127 - 116+3+1+11=131 songs

Dream - 83+2+11=96 songs

If I counted correctly... Still, the gap is there.

Units take turn. When 127 was pushed, dreamzens cried how Dream was forgotten. When Dream is pushed, 127zens cry how 127's blood&tears are used for another unit. WayV is finally pushed, wayzennies say it's because they moved centres (and got what they deserved! heh, like it's not the same damn company they are under, with the same bag of money for all centres). Wish is pushed, whishzens complain the speed is too much, slow down!

My question is: will we get NCT2025 in Autumn? And who will be in the title tracks? TaeDoJae nomore, for now.

Oh, can SM be smart and finish NCT2025 with Taeyong joining the Resonance (neos gathering)? He is the main character afterall. The lore can't progress without him. That would be pretty~~

🏁 Ay-Yo: Lore Elements and Thoughts

First theory post of 2023!!! But the reason why I am not writing this as an official theory is because... I’m confused😭 I remember saying I have some thoughts about Ay-Yo but after some thinking... it just doesn’t add up.

Looking at the MV itself, it feels like this Repackage, the MV is more towards aesthetic than lore? Plus even Dream’s Repackage Beatbox doesn’t really add up to the story in Glitch Mode. So it might be safe to say that Repackage MVs don’t exactly have a connection? Well either way, I have decided that If I want to write a full theory, I’d rather wait for their next comeback. BUTT if maybe a new idea came to mind so of course I will make another post.

Initially I wanted to draw some ideas from the term ‘Valhalla’ since they mentioned it a lot and it stands out.

In short, it is like heaven for the heroes. At first I thought maybe like this is where the Neos go after they faced the snake in 2Baddies, but looking at the MV, the overall look and aesthetics just don’t make sense. Shouldn’t the place look more heavenly? Less futuristic and their clothes look too street.

With that out of the way, lets just jump into the elements

1. Wormhole

It was mentioned in the lyrics.

“I pass through the wormhole”

A wormhole isn’t something new in the Neos lore. Essentially it took them from one place to another, or the dream world to the Reality. In their past contents, I don’t remember them using it if they were to travel from Dream to Reality UNLESS when it was NCT2020 since it involves way more people. Plus that’s a different story than the usual Dream-Reality back and forth traveling. My speculation is that, it might be needed for another NCT union project, whether its this year or next year.

2. Dream-Red and Reality-Blue

If you look into that room where Johnny and Yuta were in the MV, it changes colors from Blue to Red. When ithe light was Red, you can see that the members were doing abnormal things like floating or walking in air. This is because in the Dream world you have more possibilities and free while in Reality, you are restricted. This is a common idea since 2018 of the color associations. It makes sense too why there are many Red in the MV because they are in a Dream.

3. Jaehyun

Jaehyun definitely has an important role because he was in the snake’s grasp. Thought I’m not very sure of why he is wearing a suit, wore some sunglasses, and was walking around in the MV. I just think they could make him do more things to continue the story? This is why I think this MV is more on aesthetics.

4. Doyoung and Jungwoo Synchronizing

It really reminds me of their YearDream Resonance video and yes. Jungwoo and Doyoung were even seen together in Favorite and I can see that they are in alliance. The closest thought I have to a storyline is that the two are communicating and are aware of what’s happening with the others from 2Baddies. They might be thinking of a way of rescuing them. But this is what I have so far since there aren’t any more actions yet. At the very least, they know something and are communicating.

5. Ripples/Sound waves

Specifically, if you look at this timestamp 2:12, there are two that are colliding(?) with one another. These are sound waves, I have once explained it in another post, basically each neo has these vibrations in the Dream world and when they collide, it creates even bigger vibrations like a chain reaction. Conclusion

The MV seems like just a general concept of how their lore works, that is if you already know how it goes😭 Again, the story isn’t that clear. I’m not saying I don’t like it either, I love Ay-Yo after all. But visuals-wise, their approach is different in this Repackage. ESPECIALLY their photoshoot. We’ll see how the story continues in their next comeback... hopefully..

6月第1週

月が変わって6月です。

もう夏だねー。数日前の大雨は大丈夫でしたか。

わたしは天気予報を見ずに梅雨に向けて傘と長靴を買ったら、見事にこの大雨に間に合いませんでした。快晴の今日届くという…まあ人生こういうこともある。

3月から6月まであまり記憶がないくらい仕事してたけど、過去のブログ見返すとちゃんと生きてたみたい。こういう生活の記録のためにブログをはじめたので初めて役に立ったなと思ってる。こんな感じでこれからも続けていく予定です。

最近はまた仕事が忙しい。だんだん新しい体制にも慣れてきてべつの問題が出てきたり、そううまくいかないなーということを噛み締めた1週間だった。新社会人の人たちもそんなことを思う頃じゃない？

6/1〜6/3はドリショ2アンコンだった！NCT DREAMのみなさん3日間おつかれさまでした。

ジャニオタ時代は知らなかったけど、K-POPのコンサートツアーは本国からはじまり各国を回ってアンコールとしてまた本国でコンサートを行うっていう習わしがある。横アリからスタートして各地回って最後に東京ドーム的な感覚なのかな？（違うかも）

ご覧のとおりの労働状況で昨日も出勤だったので現地には行けなかったけど、6/3の配信はきっちり見ました。鈍器久々持ったら手攣った。鈍器に限らずK-POPのペンラってでかすぎる。

今回セトリが少し変わって버퍼링→무대로はじまりになってたのうれしかったな〜！무대로のこと第二のデビュー曲だと思っているし、イントロを聴くだけでNCT DREAMの音だ！！！！！！ってテンション上がる。もし今NCT DREAMの曲ってどんな感じ？って聞かれたら、とりあえず무대로をすすめるし。

무대로スタートはちぃちゃんのアイディアらしいですね。末っ子がその感覚を持ち合わせてくれるのめちゃくちゃ信頼できるぜ。

ピンクになった🩷

ピンクモリのジェミンさんって特別だから、それだけでど��ほど気合を入れてきてくれたのかがわかって涙出そうになっちゃったよ。あとやっぱりピンクすごい似合う。ピンクが地毛。ピンクを愛しピンクに愛された男。それが나나。

本当にありがとうございます。

6/3はジェミンさんとジェノの入社日でふたりが出会った日でもあり、今年で10年目の記念の年でいつもより感慨深い気持ちで見てた。

わたしはまだNCTを好きになって3年目で彼らが共に歩んできた道の半分も見てないけど、ただただふたりの友情が永遠に続くように願ってる。そしてあわよくばその姿をずっと見せてほしい。

話は変わり…今週は気になるものコーナーというかメガ割！

ここ2〜3回スルーしてせっせと在庫の消費に励んでいたので、その間気になったまま買わずにいたものを今回は買うつもり（というかすでにいくつか買った）

第1弾クーポンはコスメ系

fweeのチークとクッションは半年くらい気になっていたもの。特にチークのラブミーライトはわたしの好きな白みピンクで使うのが楽しみ。クッションはクレドがお気に入りなんだけど（ルミヌじゃないほうね）さすがに平日使うのは気が引けて、同じようなセミツヤでほどよいカバー力と持続力のクッションないかなーと探して買ってみた。

LAKAのリップはMinscoさんの動画見てほしくなって買った。LAKAって公式のスウォッチよりどれも彩度が高めなイメージなんだけどどうかな���

あともう3枚使ったら1枚もらえたクーポンで（クーポン地獄か？）新発売のイニスフリーのビタCセラムを買ったよ。

これも韓国のYouTuberさんの動画を見て気になってたもの。しばらくは朝これを塗って夜はトゥベールのレチノールを塗るルーティンになると思う。

レチノールはじめての方はいきなり高濃度のものを塗るとA反応を起こしてしまうので、同じイニスフリーのレチシカとかマイルドなレチノールを数ヶ月使って肌慣れさせてから徐々に濃度を上げていったほうがいいよ（ビタミンCやレチノールをつかう人たちは忘れずに日焼け止め塗ってね！）

あと気に入りすぎてストック買おうとしたら瞬く間に売り切れたロムアンドの眉マスカラが再入荷した���でクーポン無いけど買った。

第2弾クーポンはヘアケアとスキンケア、第3弾はまだ検討中です。

今週のおいしいものコーナーは先々週あれだけ熱弁したファミマのキンパがブログを書いた翌日から近所のファミマで扱わなくなって怒ってるのでお休みです。俺のキンパを返してくれ。

Day 15: A song from a group with more than 9 members

Ay yo, listen up. Is it kind of cheating to choose a compilation track by all of NCT? Yes, but NCT2020 was by far their most impactful so I don't care. I still can't listen to this without seeing the music video in my head.

I’m rambling abt NCT. Bear with me.

So, NCT 2020 Resonance Global Wave Beyond Live concert (sheesh, that’s long!) ended about 3 hours ago.

I finally got to sit and think through what I had experienced.

I’ve read through twitter, IG and of course, Tumblr.

I know quite a lot of fans are upset that SM went through with the concert when both Taeyong and Jisung are both unable to participate. And when Jisung was actually able to somewhat participate but Taeyong wasn’t, it ruffled some more feathers.

It is of course, very worrying that Taeyong may be injured/unwell enough to be completely uninvolved in the concert. I would have thought they would try to put in at least a clip of him wishing well to his team.

Then it occured to me that either way, fans won’t be happy. There will still be some that’ll bark that SM is not letting him rest or whatever.

In the end, yes, it would have been better if they could have postponed the concert till next year or whenever. But seriously, there is no promise that no one out of the 23 members will always be completely ok.

They’re a ridiculously large group with multiple members playing dual/multiple roles half the time. One of those members are bound to get tired or injured. I don’t want it to happen but hey, life is horrible and things happen.

(If you can’t already tell, I’m very much a pessimist. I don’t really look at the bright side of things. So excuse my morbid acceptance that people will get sick/ill/injured.) 

I mean, at the rate that SM is pushing some of these members, it is not very subtle that the distribution of responsibilities are not even. We definitely see some faces more than others.

if you want to argue that Taeyong is the leader of the group, the backbone, the pillar, the very essence of NCT... I won’t stop you. I feel that way too. But seriously, the leader missing out on one online concert won’t render the team useless.

Taeyong is a great leader. I acknowledge it. And one major thing he has done well as a leader is to ensure the team carries on without their leader. 

Watching the concert, I see how the different members who are often labelled the ‘mum’, ‘dad’, or ‘big brother’ of the team step up and lead the group. 

Taeyong is NCT’s leader but I will argue he is not NCT’s only leader. We have Taeil and Johnny, both of whom stepped up to look over the members (regardless if it was a forced situation or not). We have Kun, himself the leader of WayV. We have Doyoung (and let’s throw in Jeno), who were in a way the co-captains of their units. We have Mark, lovely Mark, who was the unofficial Dream Leader but made official through Dreamies’ and NCTzens’ sheer will. Even Renjun and Haechan stepped up during the ‘Surprise Live’ to lead the youngsters.

So yeah, it was sad that Taeyong wasn’t in the concert. My heart ached when I didn’t see him performing his parts. But at the same time, I HAVE to admit, I felt so proud that his teammates were able to fill his parts so well. 

And before anyone accuse me of saying Taeyong is replaceable, I must enforce that I DON’T. Taeyong is Taeyong, he brings his own charms and charisma to every song he performs. And that was made very obvious in the concert when it felt so blatantly ‘in-your-face’ that he was missing.

BUT. I will not diminish the effort put in by the other members who had to cover his parts. Kudos to them for taking the baton, it must have weighed heavy. I am sure that they are aware of the expectations EVERYONE has for Taeyong. So KUDOS to them for being able to carry that baton and YET, put in their own flair to it.

Apparently, Jeno was required to learn the first bit of ‘Make a Wish’ within an hour in the waiting room. Why? For the love of all things good, we know SM will never explain. But the fact that he did, and he did it WELL (he slayed it of course), KUDOS to him.

Sungchan covered Taeyong’s part in ‘BOSS’. It wasn’t Taeyong’s flair but Sungchan pulled it off with his own style, and just as fine.

Shotaro covered Taeyong’s part in ‘7th Sense’. You can clearly see he was a professional performer even before being part of NCT. He definitely threw in his own flair into that performance.

Yangyang covered Taeyong’s part in ‘Lightbulb’, and boy, he delivered. I watched that performance and I realised how much talent that young man has. It is disappointing he was not given a lot of parts (regardless if it was as WayV or NCT).

Jaehyun covered Taeyong’s part in ‘Kick It’, and of course he did great. We’ve already seen him cover for TY before. Yuta in turn covered Taeyong’s dance break in ‘Kick It’. Similarly, he shined.

Ten carried ‘Baby Don’t Stop’ all by himself! It must have been exhausting, he was performing consecutively from one song to another! He’s another one we must applaud for! 

Overall, I feel very grateful towards NCT for being able to put up this concert. Performing in front of a live crowd would have been better but personally, I felt this online stage allowed them to perform/act a little more freely. It felt like a home stage that you put on only for those special to you... a little bit more personal compared to a real-live concert but definitely just as high quality.

I enjoyed the concert, I smiled so much through it. I am going to miss OT23, even more than I missed OT18. When NCT was just 18, I was just getting to know them. Now, they’re a full fledged 23 and counting.

Sungchan and Shotaro fit so well in the group, I forget that they were recent additions. WayV was so very much embraced by the OG NCT members that I forget the unit is only 1 year old (going to 2 soon!)

I love how NCT feels like a family. I am sure every fandom feels the same way about their own artists, but I’ve always felt NCT was different and special because their brand makes them a family of different units. I’ve grown up in a large extended family, and I feel that NCT is just like that. They are friends and yet family, colleagues and yet brothers. 

I saw many wishes from NCTzens for the boys. I saw fans putting up placards saying NCT saved 2020. I’ve read many comments thanking NCT for uplifting them and making them feel present and here. I feel so proud that the boys are able to do that.

I may be just one more fan for NCT and I am sure they’re thankful either way. But I really want them to know how thankful I am for them too. They’ve had an extremely busy year, so I hope they get to rest. Not just some rest, but a full complete holistic break that lets their battery recharge.

I know their schedules are probably already packed and overflowing, but I want them to know that if any one of them needs a break from the hectic schedule, they should take that break AND NOT FEEL BAD ABOUT IT.

I love this quote and I wish to extend this advice to all 23 members of NCT too. 

I am still looking forward to the projects NCT will put out of course. I’m excited to see the unit (new ones?) Sungchan and Shotaro will be in. I’m excited to see Mark back with Dream (*cough cough* rooftop fight?). I definitely want to know what more WayV has in store. 

I hope they have a great year ahead but still think of themselves too once in a while.

Don’t worry boys, NCTzens will always be with you. We are the grass field that awaits you at the end of a ‘long ass ride’. Through the seasons, to infinity and beyond. We love you!

what’s your thought on the nct nation concert? I personally enjoy all nct members so I think it’s fun, but I do concern about the overworking, scheduling and unit war…

It came unexpected for this year, however, I'm one of the fans who have been wanting one since Resonance, when the idea formed in the fandom.

Usually SMtown happens at this time of the year. I don't see announcement yet and I don't know if SM skips years.

I think fans forget that these huge concerts is exactly what the idols work for. What gives them energy back and motivate to work further. When Jaehyun spent a night practicing dancing and in the morning went to school without sleeping, the sacrifice was for the future of performing on stage. When Doyoung cried during Link+ Seoul concerts, partially the reason behind the tears was his fear of this event not happening ever again. What do fans want the idols to be? BA and influencers only?

"The best rest is another type of work" is a Russian saying, heh.

MarkHyuk need rest, and they will probably get some. I certainly hope so. Shooting photographs or recording songs is not as labour intensive.

You know, the more I'm in the fandom, the more I realise how little twitter wars affect what happens in the real life. Fans ask to boycott, not to buy, sabotage, in the end albums and concert tickets sell. NCT2020 is a good example. Everyone fought everyone with twits, the album only propelled the popularuty of all units. People on twitter don't represent all the fans. As it was noted before, NCT has a lto of grown up fans who simply has no time or desire to be on tw, but they have money to buy.

Of course, there are cases when fans' discontent brings changes. However, the negative opinion should be uniform and real actions made.
