namesake mcmansion
Howdy folks! Today's McMansion is very special because a) we're returning to Maryland after a long time and b) because the street this McMansion is on is the same as my name. (It was not named after me.) Hence, it is my personal McMansion, which I guess is somewhat like when people used to by the name rights to stars even though it was pretty much a scam. (Shout out btw to my patron Andros who submitted this house to be roasted live on the McMansion Hell Patreon Livestream)
As far as namesake McMansions go, this one is pretty good in the sense that it is high up there on the ol' McMansion scale. Built in 2011, this psuedo-Georgian bad boy boasts 6 bedrooms and 9.5 baths, all totaling around 12,000 square feet. It'll run you 2.5 million which, safe to say, is exponentially larger than its namesake's net worth.
Now, 2011 was an anonymous year for home design, lingering in the dead period between the 2008 black hole and 2013 when the market started to actually, finally, steadily recover. As a result a lot of houses from this time basically look like 2000s McMansions but slightly less outrageous in order to quell recession-era shame.
I'm going to be so serious here and say that the crown molding in this room is a crime against architecture, a crime against what humankind is able to accomplish with mass produced millwork, and also a general affront to common sense. I hate it so much that the more I look at it the more angry I become and that's really not healthy for me so, moving on.
Actually, aside from the fake 2010s distressed polyester rug the rest of this room is literally, basically Windows 98 themed.
I feel like the era of massive, hefty sets of coordinated furniture are over. However, we're the one's actually missing out by not wanting this stuff because we will never see furniture made with real wood instead of various shades of MDF or particleboard ever again.
This is a top 10 on the scale of "least logical kitchen I've ever seen." It's as though the designers engineered this kitchen so that whoever's cooking has to take the most steps humanly possible.
Do you ever see a window configuration so obviously made up by window companies in the 1980s that you almost have to hand it to them? You're literally letting all that warmth from the fire just disappear. But whatever I guess it's fine since we basically just LARP fire now.
Feminism win because women's spaces are prioritized in a shared area or feminism loss because this is basically the bathroom vanity version of women be shopping? (It's the latter.)
I couldn't get to all of this house because there were literally over a hundred photos in the listing but there are so many spaces in here that are basically just half-empty voids, and if not that then actually, literally unfinished. It's giving recession. Anyway, now for the best part:
Not only is this the NBA Backrooms but it's also just a nonsensical basketball court. Tile floors? No lines? Just free balling in the void?
Oh, well I bet the rear exterior is totally normal.
Not to be all sincere about it but much like yours truly who has waited until the literal last second to post this McMansion, this house really is the epitome of hubris all around. Except the house's hubris is specific to this moment in time, a time when gas was like $2/gallon. It's climate hubris. It's a testimony to just how much energy the top 1% of income earners make compared to the rest of us. I have a single window unit. This house has four air conditioning condensers. That's before we get to the monoculture, pesticide-dependent lawn or the three car garage or the asphalt driveway or the roof that'll cost almost as much as the house to replace. We really did think it would all be endless. Oops.
If you like this post and want more like it, support McMansion Hell on Patreon for as little as $1/month for access to great bonus content including a discord server, extra posts, and livestreams.
Not into recurring payments? Try the tip jar! Student loans just started back up!

What are best betting strategies in 12bet for beginners ?
If you are looking for online sports betting, you will find various articles on the basics, line reading and betting. You can also find some sites for advanced betting strategies and systems. However, there are sites that can help you from beginners to advanced techniques.
This site aims to fill that void. You will learn 11 simple sports betting strategies that anyone can use. Each of them is an important step in the development of the whole system, which will ultimately lead to profitable results.
1 - Start with small bets
Ordering books takes time. Of course, some players pick up a winning strategy faster than others, but even the best players learn. You can only bet on a limited number of sports, so don't make the mistake of betting on every event as you learn to win.
I started my sports betting career with a $22 bet. Most bets are only between $5 and $11. Today I would bet up to $11. I played part-time for about 20 years with varying degrees of success until I had enough.
I have used many different strategies over the years to help solve this problem but have yet to make any money from them. I lowered the price. The biggest thing I did was place most of my bets on individuals rather than bookies and bookies.
This eliminates labor costs and is a good low-stakes strategy. It takes only half an hour to set up at no charge. This strategy gets harder when you start aiming higher because you can't find people willing to lift and limit you.
When you start betting on sports, you decide how much you want for your investment. Remove it and use it only for sports betting. Divide that amount by 100 and don't bet more than that amount until you know how to improve your results.
You can make mistakes and using a small amount of money won't cost you much. This method also allows you to make a series of bets before you run out of money. The longer you stay in the game, the more likely you are to find a winning system.
2 - Focus on a small area
I'll talk about betting on your favorite teams in another chapter, but one mistake sports bettors make when betting on big games is often betting on things they know very little about.
You have a better chance of picking a winner if you focus
instead of betting everything. Focus on one sport instead of betting on NFL, MLB, NBA and NCAA games.
By focusing on a small area, you can gain knowledge that will help you pick winners. To be a successful bettor, you need to know as much as possible about the teams and players you are betting on. If you can collect and analyze more data from people than just posting series, you've reached a point where you can earn a solid income.
Specialization is the way to start. I understand that one of the reasons you want to bet on sports is to make the games more interesting, but to make the game more interesting you have to decide if you are willing to pay to lose the bet. increase your chances of success.
3 - Money line bet
Most sporting events have at least two different lines. One of the rules is to bet against the spread. A spread bet has points where one team wins a point and the other team gives a point.
Another common type of betting line is the money line. With a money line bet, you pick the team to win the match to win the bet. For money line bets, the winning amount is usually different from spread bets.
Compared to spread bets, they usually pay 11-10 or 110-100 when betting on either side of the match. Money betting in 12bet is something else. The extra money you need to bet what you can win on the spread is called a draw and that's how the bookies make their money.
There is also a screen for money line bets, but it is harder to see as the lines are laid out differently. Here is an example of a money bet limit and how it works.
This game has Nebraska at Penn State. The team with the plus sign, in this case Nebraska, is the underdog. +150 means if you bet $100 on Nebraska and they win the game, you get $100 back and win $150.
The favorite, in this case Penn State, has a negative number. This number means you need to bet enough to win $100. So you need to bet $170 to win $100 at Penn State.
When you start betting on sports, the difference can be used to pick the winner. Bookmakers are good at placing lines close to the final score, so it's hard to know which team will win by a margin.
But it's much easier to pick the team to beat. As the example shows, it is more expensive to buy a favorite, but it is still easier to pick a winner.
You can also look for underdogs that have a high chance of winning. If you can win more than you risk, you don't need to pick multiple winners to make a profit.
4 - Understand local bias
In all sports, the home team wins more than the visitors. The exact percentages vary by sport and season, but you'll see it in all sports. Most people know this from watching games, but few understand the public's attitude towards sports betting. You need to understand what home bias is and how it can affect your sports betting results.
Since the home team wins more often than the away team, many bettors give too much credit to the home team when determining the best bet. This is called local bias. While you should consider the home team's chances of winning, you can't count on them sitting at home too much when trying to pick the best team to bet on.
5 - Online shopping is profitable
If you only have one choice when betting on a sporting event, you need to decide which side of the bet is more likely to win. But if you have more options where to bet, you can compare the tips offered in different places.
Today you can bet with local bookies, multi-city bookies and hundreds of online bookies. You can use 12bet to earn more money over time.
You rate the games equally, but once you figure out which team should win, you can look at different bookies to get the best line. This applies to both spread betting and money limits.

I’ve tried to write about my Dad a thousand times. But I was never able to finish any of those stories. Both of us had trouble seeing things through to completion. I thought that perhaps I could finally finish one of these essays about him whenever he passed, because they weren’t necessarily flattering, but they were honest. They were about our messy relationship, which only grew more complicated with age. I have a lot to say about that, and maybe I’ll finally write those essays, but it’ll suffice to say I felt ashamed of my Dad more than I’d like, and felt terribly guilty for feeling shameful, and that lovely pairing eventually hardened into feelings of resentment, often blinding me from his best aspects.
Of course I loved him too. How could I not? He was my Dad and, as with his comedy, even though he wasn’t the best, he never stopped trying.
And I knew how much he loved me. He loved me so much. I don’t know anyone with a bigger heart. Me and Ethan were his pride and joy and he made sure we knew it every chance he could. He was an amazing father in that way.
Our relationship grew more complicated with age, but it became really simple last May when he had a life-changing stroke and then again this Sunday when he had a life-ending stroke. At the end of the day, he was my Dad and I was his son, and there was nothing but love between us. Nothing to do but hold his hand and stroke his head and update him on the latest March Madness games and betting odds. I tried to say something profound to him on his deathbed, but all I really wanted to do was talk about the shit we usually talked about: the NBA, my bowling league, what we’ve been reading, his latest book idea for me or himself.
That simplicity didn’t last long, because he’s gone now and I’ve been doing a lot of thinking this week. A lot of rethinking actually, and I’ve started to see how much I underestimated my Dad. I worried about my Dad constantly for most of my adult life. I worried for his happiness, but have you ever met a firmer optimist? My Dad had a lot of tough breaks, but he never felt sorry for himself, never became bitter with the world.
I worried about his loneliness, but just look at all of you here today - what a warm crowd. And I want to give a special thanks to Lisa, RJ, Mike, Anita and Joe. You guys showed up for my Dad when me and my brother couldn’t, and you kept showing up when he probably would’ve driven the two of us crazy.
I worried about his health and, well, I was right to worry about his health. The man was crumbling before our eyes and could hardly see with his own. The first time he met Celina we had barely sat down for lunch when, much to my horror, he told us the doctor said they might have to carve out his eye and he wanted to know how we thought he’d look in an eye patch.
I worried for his quality of life. I could never square his unwavering good nature with his life circumstances. It’s become increasingly clear my Dad didn’t measure life the same way I do, but I’m beginning to see his wisdom. It’s a wisdom rooted in the heart, and that wisdom says: friends and family come first, and that includes dogs. It says never presume and live with humility - you never know what the person next to you has gone through and laughing at yourself brightens any moment. It says laughing and crying are powerful medicines.
But I never once worried that my Dad didn’t believe in me. He believed in me with all his heart, no matter the task. He believed I could write for The New Yorker. He believed I could qualify for the Boston Marathon. And I took that for granted, and I wish I thanked him more.
I think we all fear becoming like our parents. I know I did and I tried, consciously or not, to be different or better than my Dad. But I can see now how the qualities he gifted me are fundamental to my being. There’s my love of reading of course. We both slept with books in bed. My ambitions to write. My aversion to driving. My affinity for sports and, a parting gift, my budding obsession with sports gambling.
Moving forward I want to lean into his wisdom, confident that my life will be enriched because of it.
I couldn’t find these words Sunday night, but I hope they find you now, Dad. I want you to know how proud I am to be your son and how proud I am of you. Thank you for teaching me, in your gentle way, what matters most in life: friends, family, laughter, books and dogs.

These may seem alot but the lists goes on and on, Lebron is ranked top 2 on "75 NBA players of all time just behind jordan, but lets talk about where this all started.
A young LeBron James was locally known as a basketball prodigy ever since in elementary school, he was named Ohio's Mr. Baskrtball (hs player of the year) three times while leading Akrons St. Vincent Mary High School to three state championships in his four years on the team. He was a national media sensation in his young year after showing up on Sports Illustrated where he was named by the magazine as "The Chosen One." In 2003 he was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the first overall in 2003 NBA draft, and he would sign a $90 million contract with Nike shoe company. As he started in Cleveland Caveliers alot of pressure went on by him, but he didnt get affected by it and he lead the team in scoring, steals and minutes played over 2003-04 season, and winning ROTY (rookie of the year) In 2004-2005 he became a starting forward on the Eastern Conference All Star Team, in 2006-2007 LeBron James led Cleveland to the NBA finals, the cavaliers were swept by the San Antonio Spurs but James postswason led many observers to place him in the very best players in the league. He held the NBA in scoring in 2007-2008 season and earned first team ALL NBA honours, in 2008-2009 he achieved the leagues MVP following the season he averaged nearly 30PPG and named MVP again. In 2009-2010 he went to the Miami Heat which had D Wade and Bosh, he helped miami reach the finals but lost to the Dallas Mavericks, in 2011-2012 he averaged 27.1 PPG and won his third mvp, this time he defeated OKC Thunder and won the championship and reigned as the finals MVP, in 2012-2013 he averaged 26.8 PPG, 7.3 APG and a career high 8 RPG while posting .565 field goal percentage. The heat went in the finals again, Lebron rematching with the spurs but they lost again in the five game series. In 2014 he went back to the cavs and faced the greatest threats at his time, the Golden State Warriors, theyre dynasty was starting with the players, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and DeMarcus Cousins, LeBron averaged 35.8 PPG, 13.3 RPG and 8.8 APG but managed to lose to the Dynasty. In 2015-16 in the finals, Cleveland and Warriors face again, Warriors needed one win left to win the championship since it was 3-1 but LeBron overturned it and made it 3-4 Lebron won the championship. After doing that LeBron currently staying in the Los Angeles Lakers, he won another championship.

Top Tips for Choosing the Best Sports Bar in Brisbane
Sports bars offer a unique blend of entertainment, camaraderie, and local culture, making them a popular choice for both residents and visitors in Brisbane. Whether you're a die-hard sports fan or just looking for a fun night out, finding the right sports bar can enhance your viewing experience. This guide provides essential tips to help you choose the best sports bar in Brisbane, ensuring an unforgettable experience.
Understanding Brisbane's Sports Bar Scene
Brisbane's sports bar scene is as diverse as the city itself, offering a range of options from upscale establishments to casual hangouts. The city hosts a vibrant sports culture, celebrating everything from cricket and rugby to soccer and AFL. Knowing the variety of sports events covered and the type of crowd each bar attracts can help you find your perfect match.
Location Matters
Location is crucial when choosing a sports bar. Central Brisbane boasts a lively atmosphere with bars close to public transport and major attractions, while suburban venues offer a more relaxed setting. Consider the convenience of getting to and from the venue, especially on game nights.
Screen Size and Quality
The best sports bars invest in high-definition screens and state-of-the-art sound systems to deliver an immersive viewing experience. Look for bars with large screens visible from every angle and additional projectors for major sporting events.
Variety of Sports Coverage
A top sports bar should offer comprehensive coverage of both international and local sports, ensuring you never miss a match. Whether you're into the Premier League, NRL, or NBA, the bar should cater to a wide range of sports enthusiasts.
Atmosphere and Ambience
The atmosphere can make or break your sports bar experience. Some bars offer a family-friendly environment, while others cater to an adult audience with theme nights and live music. Choose a bar that aligns with your preferences for an enjoyable evening.
Food and Drink Options
Good food and a wide selection of drinks are essential for any sports bar. From classic pub grub to gourmet offerings, the menu should cater to all tastes. Look for bars with drink specials and craft beer selections to enhance your experience.
Seating and Viewing Areas
Comfortable seating and well-designed viewing areas are key for enjoying long games. Opt for bars with spacious layouts, private booths, or VIP sections for a more exclusive experience.
Customer Service
Efficient and friendly service is crucial, especially during busy game nights. Staff should be knowledgeable about the sports being shown and attentive to your needs throughout the event.
Community and Fan Base
Joining a community of fellow sports fans can greatly enhance your experience. Look for bars that host fan club meetings or special events to connect with like-minded individuals.
Promotions and Specials
Take advantage of promotions and specials, such as happy hours and game day discounts. These offers can provide great value and add to the overall enjoyment of your visit.
Technology and Connectivity
In today's digital age, having access to Wi-Fi and betting facilities can be a plus. These features allow you to stay connected and place live bets during the game.
Safety and Cleanliness
Cleanliness and safety measures, particularly in light of COVID-19, are non-negotiable. Choose bars that adhere to health guidelines to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
Reviews and Recommendations
Online reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations can provide valuable insights into a bar's atmosphere, service, and overall experience. Research before making your decision.
Unique Features and Facilities
Some sports bars offer unique features, such as sports memorabilia displays or interactive games, adding to the venue's appeal. These elements can significantly enhance your visit.
Family and Group Friendliness
If you're planning to visit with family or a group, look for bars that accommodate children and offer group booking options. This ensures a comfortable experience for everyone involved.
Loyalty Programs and Memberships
Loyalty programs and memberships can offer perks such as discounts, priority bookings, and exclusive access to events. Consider these benefits when choosing a sports bar.
Conclusion
Choosing the best sports bar in Brisbane requires considering several factors, from location and sports coverage to food, drink, and atmosphere. By following these tips, you're sure to find a venue that offers the perfect blend of entertainment, comfort, and community. Whether you're cheering for your favorite team or enjoying a night out with friends, the right sports bar can make all the difference.

How Live Sports Data APIs Are Changing the Game
There's nothing like the thrill of watching a buzzer-beater shot, last minute goal, or walk-off home run live. Now, thanks to real-time sports data APIs, that exhilaration extends beyond the field through trending alerts, automated highlights, predictive analytics, and more powered by live sports feeds. Read on to understand what sports data APIs offer and how they're enhancing engagement.
Defining Live Sports Data APIs
In the past, accessing detailed sports data required combing through record books, news reports, or waiting for printed statistics. Today, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) provide structured access to real-time sports data streams. Sports data APIs deliver up-to-the-second player stats, line score changes, play-by-play events, betting odds, injury alerts and more directly to apps and platforms.
The biggest sports data API providers like Data Sports Group, Stats Perform, and Sports Radar offer coverage spanning leagues internationally. Their feeds capture emerging sports like drone racing and competitive gaming too. Configurable by sport, competition, and region, the possibilities are vast for developers and partners.
Engaging Fans through data
Access to live data unlocks innovations in engaging fans before, during and after competition:
Pre-Event: Users get lineups, stats and predictive metrics to inform their fantasy roster selections, prop bet evaluation, and matchup analysis. Data APIs feed interactive team/player rating and ranking engines.
Live: Score alerts, drive summaries, and win probability trackers delivered in real-time create suspense and visibility even during breaks in viewing. Automated highlight clipping and social posting happens instantly.
Post-Event: With rich play-by-play detail, desktop or mobile experiences quickly shift to stories around player performance trends, best moments, comeback probabilities, and more to retain interest.
Across this lifecycle, timely and robust data via API is indispensable.
Depth and Configurability
Today's data feeds provide far more than just scores. Granular event data coverage includes:
Detailed scoring plays with statistics
Pitch-by-pitch or play-by-play flows
Player substitutions and lineup changes
Evolving odds and proposition bets
Crucial officiating rulings and reviews
Notifications around streaks, milestones, records
Top providers enable configuring exactly which sports, leagues, and data subsets matter for your needs. Request just NFL data or dig deeper into niche fantasy sports. The customization simplifies integration.
Top Providers Compared
Major sports data API platforms have invested heavily over the past decade to reach impressive capabilities:
Data Sports Group - Flexible APIs for emerging sports like drone racing. Known for enriched data combining official league feeds with proprietary computer vision and analytics.
Stats Perform - Offers exceptional soccer coverage, powering popular fantasy games. Plus historical datasets for predictive modeling.
Sports Radar - Trusted by media and betting firms for reliable NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB feeds with low latency delivery.
While paid, some limited free plans exist for non-commercial use. Pricing scales based on usage, sport breadth, historical access needs and more. Most offer usage dashboards, mashup tools, and 24x7 developer support.
Growing the Future of Sports Engagement
As 5G reduces latency and machine learning classifies events faster, live sports data will enable more dramatic experiences through AR/VR, micro-betting, automated production, and content customization. The capabilities grow exponentially. With digitization permeating the sports world, data accessibility unlocks wave after wave of innovation.

Future Favorites as College Basketball Begins
The college basketball season for both men and women began on Monday, and two unusual upsets highlighted opening night. The best women’s basketball team in the land, the LSU Tigers, were easily handled by the Colorado Buffaloes, 92-78. Frida Foremann of Colorado led the upset with 27 points and seven 3-pointers. Angel Reece, who was the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player when LSU rolled to the national championship last spring, had just 15 points on 15 shots. It was the first time a women’s defending national champion lost on opening night since 1995. On the men’s side the No. 4 ranked Michigan State Spartans lost to James Madison, 76-74 in overtime, making it just the first time a top-five team lost to an unranked opponent on opening night since 2005. That team that lost in 2005 was Michigan State. This was the first November home loss for the Spartans since 1986, and just the second time in school history that James Madison has beaten a ranked team.
Men’s National Championship Favorites

They won it in 2022, but last year they were knocked out in the second round by Arkansas. UConn is the defending national champion, and the Huskies are tied with Arizona for the fifth shortest odds to begin the season. The Wildcats won the Pac-12 Tournament last year and were awarded a two-seed, but they were bounced in the first round by the 15th-seeded Princeton Tigers. Michigan State has fallen to +1800 after their loss to JMU in East Lansing.
Women’s National Championship Favorites

She was the AP, Naismith, and John Wooden Player of the Year in 2021, but missed all of last year with a torn ACL. She headlines a great battle for this season’s player of the year, with Reece from LSU and Caitlin Clark of Iowa. Reece is the preseason SEC Player of the Year, and Clark is the preseason Big Ten Player of the Year. Reece and Clark, and LSU and Iowa, played in the finals last year of the highest rated NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament in history.

Get the Edge on Vegas! 10/28 Sport Betting Picks
Hey everybody! Today will be the first post of our brand new sports betting blog "beatthelines" where we will be helping you get the best chances to make some money and have some fun doing it. We will be giving out two picks today with the first one being a NBA rivalry matchup game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors. We believe that the value is on the side of the Sixers. They are 4.5-point favorites after coming off a brutal 1-point loss to the Bucks where players such as Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid stepped up big with star player James Harden being away from the team. The Raptors are a younger team with less experience and firepower. Sixers -4.5 is the right way to attack this game. Our second and final pick of the day is the Phoenix Suns at -5.5 against the Utah Jazz. The Suns have yet to put out a fully healthy roster since the season has started. According to our sources, it is believed that all three of their star players will be on the court tonight including Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. The Jazz do not have a good roster and will struggle severely on the offensive side of the ball. The Suns will look to make a statement tonight with their team finally back to full strength. That is all we have for today and we wish everyone luck!
