ponderings from earlier

basically humans feel so full of themselves that they think themselves seperate from nature. any time i hear someone preach about nature having a collective will that does not include humans and thus humans are shit and animals are just, i hear someone saying i am above animals, i have something animals lack.

Sweet Tooth for example claims one needs to be part human and part animal to be the next step in human evolution. but do deer stop to think about how overgrazing can damage the local ecosystem? do they start concerned social movements to stop having babies to balance out the ecosystem? does any invasive species feel sorry for itself?

if i kinda play along with “human vs animal” dualism.... that condemned  “humanity-as-disconnected-from-animal” is the part that wants nature to thrive. our level of altrusim is unparallelled. animal instinct is what drives us to be greedy and present minded and- mostly importantly- reproduce without thought... and yet “the world is too populated” is always sourced as a human evil, while we invented condoms and birth control...

... of course, even arguing that “humans are the only ones who reflect like this” is a very humancentric notion of me! it isn’t like elephants or dolphins have the knowledge of the worlds demise. perhaps if they could talk and access the internet, they’d be better people than us.
