Coining the name myself bc I couldn't find an established ship name already, but if there is one lmk! I prob will still use naturaldisaster tho bc I like it and it's a very specific dynamic PFFT

ive come up with naturaldisastershipping but it really doesn’t maek sense because technically bboth zane and nya should also be in there since hurricanes/tsunamis and blizzards are also both natural disasters so...

Background

It all started bc Cole found Jay roaming aimlessly around the crossroads, and after trying (unsuccessfully) to reason with him, he just. Scooped him up and brought him back to the monastery.

Jay was kept there for a bit while the ninja argued over the ethics of kidnapping ("we can help him" vs "not like this").

During that time, he flirted with/teased Nya, Cole, and Geo, bc he noticed it had an effect on them. He was eventually let go, but the seed was planted in all 3 of their heads.

From there, it went from the ninja trying to find Jay, to Jay leaving cryptic messages for Nya, Cole, and Geo to find. The messages led to one-on-one conversations which eventually led to dates/flings.

Jay often stands them up, shows up late, changes plans last minute, and generally strings them along, just to "make up for it" whenever one or all of them start to pull away. It makes it difficult to parse his true intentions, which he doesnt always understand himself– he enjoys messing with them/using them, but there's also a repressed part of himself that just enjoys their company and wants to stick around.

Relationship Dynamics

Jay/Nya [Jaya]: Nya is the most resistant to this new "relationship" because of her history with Jay, and how upset his current situation makes her. She'll never forget Jay telling her he'd always hate her. But... she'll also never forget all the times he said he loved her, so she's clinging to hope that maybe, just maybe, he'll say it again...and mean it.

Jay feels the strongest sense of familiarity towards Nya but also enjoys messing with her the most. His repressed memories manifest as obsession.

Jay/Cole [bruise]: Cole and Jay briefly dated back in the day, and the feelings never fully went away. Cole's were rekindled when he saw Jay again, and he was the first to insist that dating/getting closer to Jay could be the thing that brings the old Jay back.

Jay recognizes his desperation and enjoys it. But like with Nya, also experiences a sense of familiarity, which he tries to suppress.

Jay/Geo [electricalfuse]: Geo heard lots of stories about Jay via Cole. He was immediately charmed by Jay's bad-boy attitude, much to his own surprise– he doesn't usually go for that type, but finds it exciting. (Electric even.) He's also incredibly curious to know more about the "old" Jay and asks lots of questions to try and prompt his memory. ("I can fix him" mentality)

Jay lets his guard down around Geo the most, because there isn't any history there making it more complicated. He still believes nya and cole are trying to get inside his head to a degree and doesn't fully trust them, but Geo earns his trust rather quickly– not that it spares him from Jays flighty nature.

Geo/Cole [Geode]: have been dating a long time, in a committed and healthy relationship that they try to model to Jay, not that it really sticks.

Geo, Cole, and Nya often discuss how disfunctional the dynamic is with Jay but how none of them want to leave, for fear of never seeing him again/never being able to help him/undoing any progress they might've made already.
