Speak Your Mind - Inumaki Toge
pairing: inumaki toge x reader, gender neutral, established relationship
synopsis: inumaki grapples with the thought of not being able to speak his mind to you. not fully understanding, you try to ease his mind but his words hurt.
content warning: angst, use of cursed speech against you, misguided anger, self loathing, pretty heavy bout of anger/sadness
"Stop talking."
Was the first warning the man gave you. But it only lasted mere seconds as he saw your mouth open again once the tension of his words was gone. "Stop doing that," you snapped.
"Shut up-"
Was the second warning and he watched as your mouth snapped closed once more and anger flair in your eyes. He didn't mean for the argument to be taken to such measures, it truly started off rather innocently. But your words struck a chord in him that he didn't know he was capable of inheriting. "Stop it," your voiced hushed as your jaw went slack from his cursed energy no longer gripping you. "It's alright, Toge."
But it was far from alright.
"Get out!"
Not registering what he said until his words already hung in the air, his eyes tracked as you swiftly exited and slammed the door behind you. The room fell silent. An eerie silence that made his already racing mind swim with self-hatred and guilt. He didn't mean for it to get this far. Didn't mean to use such brash, controlling, words with you. He felt his thoughts come full circle, as this was the very topic of conversation he wished to have with you.
His words hurt.
It was a thought hammered into his very being, starting even at such a small age.
"Don't speak, Toge."
"Not a word, Toge."
"You could hurt people, Toge. It's better if you don't say anything at all."
But he couldn't help it, couldn't stand not speaking to you. He craved it, needed it even. It filled his stomach to the brim with dread every second of every hour and every day that he couldn't talk to you. Not in code, not over text, not in writing, not in one word replies that were safe - but actually converse with you the way he so eagerly wanted to. The way he saw everyone speak to you. Perhaps it was jealously, or perhaps a twinge of self deprecation. But he hated it, loathed it.
You tried reassuring the young man, to which it started the very argument moments ago. You would never leave, you would always love him, and you didn't care that he couldn't converse naturally with you. You loved him exactly the way he is.
But you didn't hear him. You didn't understand.
You didn't have such an ability where the weight of words caused catastrophic damage. Your words didn't feel like nails rammed in your throat from such a simple slip of the tongue. Your words didn't have the power to be lethal.
He juxtaposed you in every way of lexicology.
His words singed the back of his throat with every syllable, biting and gnashing at vocal cords with every letter spoken. His words were heavy, feeling his shoulders drop from how burdensome they were. And the taste of cough medicine and numbing spray permanently stained his mouth; years of trying to remedy the drawbacks of his ability only to loathe the taste more than blood itself.
Letting a loud, guttural yell from his lips escape he shut his eyes tightly, hands balling into fists from rage and overwhelming grief. But he couldn't say a word - which made him all the more angry. "What-!" He yelled, and promptly screwed his mouth closed with a loud groan - 'is wrong with me??' All he could do was grunt, groan, and scream nonsense, anything else would mean using cursed energy. But rage moved to hopelessness, the fire in his chest shifting to a chokehold.
Tears welling in violet eyes, and a deep, shaky breath filling his lungs, he felt his emotions collapse. It was as if the world had crashed around him at his realization of his actions, a heavy guilt stabbing at his heart and twisting. Tears slipping down pale cheeks as all he could think to do was cry, to sob, to wallow. Knees roughly hitting the floor as his legs were wobbly, adrenaline and anger completely replaced by despair giving him whiplash.
He couldn't imagine you would want to speak to him after his actions, he couldn't imagine you would want to speak to him ever again. "You idiot," he murmured to himself through tears. "What have you done?"

random generator gave me 40 so, an impulsive kiss with two guys of your choice?? >:3
Okay, so, before I get blown up for this one - I blame Viric. Nothing else to say in my defense though.
#40 - An Impulsive Kiss (Horror Mode!)
Conversation rarely fills the space anymore. Hours would pass aboard the ice-locked ship in near silence, the only sounds being the groaning of the Arctic’s pressure against her wooden hull. The crew spend their days in a mockery of routine, standing at posts half frozen to their boots. There used to be more to this, though that’s hard to remember at this point. Noises. Life. Chatter, in the early days. But the frost had torn such pleasantries away, the frigid air scrapping at throats and social convention for months at this point. Heavy boots on the wooden decks used to disperse some of the quiet. Now, one by one, even those are falling silent. .
Days and nights passed in a blur, the few thin hours of hazy sunlight long since swallowed by perpetual night this late in the season. There was a time where Lt. Grace had tried to keep track of the date. Now, though, there was only one thing that truly marked the passage of time. The ringing of the frost coated ship’s bell cut through his half-conscious pacing like a blade. A summoning of the crew. There was only one reason for those at this point.
That couldn’t be right - it hadn’t been long enough. Had it?
Nevertheless, the crew shuffled onto the deck. A sea of wild hair and blue uniforms, both in varying states of disregard. A few words were passed between them, pleasantries muttered through bleeding lips. Some muttered prayers. Others looked on the brink of tears already, though they kept their gaze low. A few stood near the back, hunger barely concealed in their eyes. Grace surveyed the crowd, doing all he could to maintain the commanding air of an officer even as his stomach churned. There were so few, now. Even if the ice melted tonight, in some grand miracle, there wouldn’t be enough hands to sail a vessel of this size anywhere near a port.
The lieutenant wanted to believe that the cold and the wild had taken most of them. That the many hammocks that now swung empty could be blamed on the wrath of nature, on illness, on winter itself - not hungry, mortal hands. He wanted to believe that, truly. But he couldn’t be sure. Not anymore.
A cold, shivering fist held the straws high. Once, there had been a bit of ceremony to the process. Not anymore. The first draws occurred without incident. Tense men shuffling forwards, breathing the smallest sighs of relief. Collapsing into the arms of the others as they stepped out of line, a thin strip of wood still held in a shaking hand.
Grace was next in line when it happened. An able bodied sailor stood in front of him, his wide eyes nearly swallowed by his ginger curls. Grace barely managed to catch a glimpse of that short, bloodied straw before the sailor screamed. It was a desperate, animalistic sound, dwarfing even the chime of the bell that marked when a man must die.
After hours of frigid stagnation, everything began to move at once.
Grace took a step back as the sailor turned away from the officer holding the straws, eyes wide with terror. A flash of steel under the fading firelight, somewhere far behind him. The sailor lunged for him, that same despairing screech still ringing in his ears as Grace tried to stumble back, losing his footing along the way and sending the two sprawling onto the ship’s deck. A cry of pain - someone stuck a blade deep into the sailor’s back on the way down, hungry eyes baring down as Grace tried to get his bearings. The sailor coughed up a spray of crimson.
Then, with a wild, tearful look in his eyes, the man who drew the short straw pressed a kiss to Grace’s lips. He was muttering something as they pulled him away, a few others of the crew staying behind to check on the lieutenant's condition. The sailor’s last words, a desperate plea to a lover he would never again see. The lieutenant’s clawing hands, a poor substitute for a last embrace. The sounds of butchery covered up anything else he may have screamed to the heavens.
Grace couldn’t hear the name that the sailor had been calling out to, through the footfalls and pain. The taste of iron lingered on his lips for far too long, after the meal that night.
#zeeposting#my fic#kiss ask game#DOES THIS STILL COUNT? WHOOPS!#bit of a#cannibalism#and Arctic horror violence moment lads!#Grace is never gonna get a break in his life. so why should he get one in the ask meme I say#lmao

So I've had a cold for a couple weeks which has since turned into the usual bronchitis. Cough cough bark cough. It's made worse because I can't take most cough medicine/decongestants. But Im miserable and exhausted so once the sore throat phase starts I drag my pathetic butt into my pharmacy to beg for some relief. I expect to be told to make due with nasal sprays and warm beverages but actually my pharmacist gets all excited and does a positively Aziraphalean wiggle as he rushes to show me his "favourite cough syrup".
He assures me of it's efficacy, talks this shut up like it's a miracle elixer and honestly I'm so tired of performing my nightly harp seal impersonations that I'd have bought it with half his enthusiasm.
It's Sirop Lambert by the way. It's "natural" which is to say it hasn't any pharmaceuticals in it and the exhausted part of me figures it's not going to be any more effective than honey but I try it and... It tastes... not great but not outright hostile like Buckley 's.
And my throat feels better in seconds. Cough was definitely lessened.
I look up the ingredients and it's basically pine tar and a boat-load of menthol but anyone who's read a certain fic of mine will already be giggling at "pine tar" .
Demon Catnip for cough and cold!
Crowley was definitely on to something!

Note: thank you @em0bussy for being my beta reader.
The ghoulish flu had taken hold of you that morning, its unwelcome grip wrapping you in icy cold shivers and fatigue. Its frosted tendrils crept through your body, wrapping you in an unrelenting embrace of discomfort. Every movement felt like a battle against the weight of exhaustion that settled heavily upon your shoulders. Chills danced along your spine, each one a reminder of the fever that raged within, alternating with waves of heat that left your skin flushed and damp.
Your sinuses were a battleground of congestion as if a dam had been erected within your head, blocking the natural flow of air. Each breath was a laborious effort, a struggle against the barricade of mucus that stubbornly refused to yield. Your throat, a usually clear passage for words and nourishment, had transformed into a raw and scratchy passage, protesting every swallow and causing a twinge of pain with each cough.
Your eyes, typically filled with brightness and bursting with life, were now veiled in a dull haze of fatigue. Redness clung to the edges, a testament to the strain of your body's battle against the invading virus. Sleep eluded you, as the coughing fits and restless discomfort kept you in a state of half-wakefulness. Sister Imperator had insisted you take the day off, recognizing the exhaustion that weighed heavily on your shoulders.
But before you could fully embrace the rare luxury of a break, your memory tugged at you, reminding you of the mortar and pestle you had borrowed from Primo. With gratitude for his generosity in allowing you to use them for your homemade paint, you made your way to the greenhouse to return the items.
With the late summer air, you found yourself going on walks and foraging wilted flowers (you decided to leave the living ones for the pollinators) which you then later used to make inks and paints for your writing. Primo had so kindly offered you to borrow his working utensils, to let you experiment with the paint-making process.
“I see you child, come in.” You hear a warm voice calling you in. You enter the greenhouse, the temperate room offering a stark contrast to the frigidity of the hallway of the abbey. You see Primo in his usual attire, kneeling next to some flowers, spraying them with some mist from a bottle.
“Papa! I’ve come to return your stuff. Thank you for lending them to me. The paint turned out nice”. Your words came out with a nasal tone, echoing with the rasping sound of your throat.
"Ah, I'm so glad. What did you use for the paint?”
“Just some berries I found the other day. Bilberries, I think? Anyways I uh - I wrote all about it in my foraging journal. I can show you if you want” you muffle out, struggling to talk due to the pressure built up in your sinus.
“Ah, that would be lovely. But first, I must ask, are you alright? You sound…congested…and your eyes…they're so red."
"I'm alright, it's just…a little cold."
"Oh, you poor thing. Come, come, come. I’ll examine you, and then I’ll make you a cup of tea, child. Rest assured we’ll take care of that cold of yours.”
“I’m not entirely sure if you sound like a doting grandfather or a doctor”. You teasingly spit out
Papa chuckles warmly “I am neither, um well I suppose I am the age of which many would consider me a grandfather, however, I am but a simple herbologist. I trust you are scheduled to see a doctor?”
“Tomorrow, yes”
“Lovely, I can give you some stuff to help with your discomfort in the meantime, but I still need to examine you first”.
He takes a torch, which he shines in your mouth.
“Hmm, you have some redness it seems, your lymph nodes seem swollen too. Does it hurt to swallow?”
You nod.
“Do you have a fever?”
“Not sure, really”
“Hmm, hard to tell for sure without a thermometer, but you do feel quite warm, might be fair to assume you have a slight fever” he says as he places his palm on your forehead. “Not to worry, I’ll make you some tea and bring you some medicinal syrup for your throat. One minute. I’ll be right back.”
He goes to the back of the greenhouse, on a table filled with glass jars. He goes through the jars one by one, uttering a series of hmmms before landing on an “Aha” before walking back to you.
He hands you a glass jar of black syrup. “Here, child, take this. It’s elderberries, thyme, ginger, turmeric…..some other stuff…yes…uhh here’s the label - cloves, cinnamon and honey. Not the best tasting, I’m going to be honest, but it should help with your throat.”
He then proceeds to hand you a tablespoon. You pour the dark reddish-brown syrup into your spoon. You can’t help but chuckle at how it reminds you of the paint you made the week before. You notice that it smells richly of fruit as well as spice. You consume the concoction, the slightly viscous silkiness of the syrup coating your throat. Your olfactory sense has been dulled down due to your sickness but the rich sweet taste of the elderberries made it through, along with the immediate warmth of the ginger and cinnamon.
“That was not as bad as I expected it to be. It was actually quite pleasant, Papa” you chuckle.
“Well, I’m glad. Take a teaspoon twice a day or as needed”.
“Okay, now you sound like a doctor, Papa” You chuckle which sends you into a coughing fit.
“Now I shall make you a nice herbal tea, and you will feel better soon. Come, let us go to my office, child.”
He directs you to his office, a small but cosy room with a desk, desk chair, and two couches in the middle.
He sits you down on the couch, while he drapes a blanket over you, before handing you some lemon and ginger tea.
You notice that on his desk is a pair of wooden knitting needles, and a skein of brown wool.
“You knit, Papa?”
“Indeed, I do. I’m making a blanket right now, got a lot of time on my hands now that the winter season is fast approaching. Don’t need to be outside as much now.”
“Okay, now you’re a doting grandfather. My old school had an unofficial knitting club. Wed sometimes used to gather on Friday after our classes were done for the week and just chill in the common room knitting to some weird TV show we found that day.”
As the tea warmed you from the inside out and the blanket cocooned you in comfort, you couldn't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for the unexpected connection that had blossomed between you and Papa Emeritus. In this haven of herbs, warmth, and shared stories, you found solace amid the ghoulish flu's grip. You still felt like you wanted to rip your throat out, with the occasional fit of coughs and sneezes, but the comfort of the blanket and the warmth of the office were enough to offer you some temporary relief.
Suddenly, a thought sparked within you. You reached into your satchel and retrieved your foraging journal, a weathered and well-loved notebook filled with pressed flowers, handwritten notes, and sketches of the plants you had encountered during your walks.
"Papa, I thought you might like to see this," you said, holding out the journal for him to see.
He took it with a gentle smile, his eyes lighting up as he flipped through the pages. "Ah, what a treasure trove of knowledge and beauty you've collected here."
You watched as he examined each page, his finger tracing the delicate lines of your sketches. It was as if he could feel the very essence of the plants you had encountered through the pages of your journal. There was also a section dedicated to berries as well as mushrooms (illustrated with mushroom spores)
"Tell me, child, about this flower here," he said, pointing to a vibrant illustration of a purple wildflower.
“Oh, that’s the sketch of a Michaelma Daisy. I found it on a walk, I used some withered ones to make the paint, then used that paint to paint the sketch.” Papa Emeritus nodded in approval. "A remarkable find and your sketches capture its beauty splendidly."
Encouraged by his genuine interest, you continued to share the stories behind the various entries in your journal. Each plant held its own significance, whether it was a remedy for headaches or a symbol of hope in challenging times.
As the afternoon sunlight painted the room in a warm glow, you felt a profound connection forming between you and Papa Emeritus. The exchange of stories and shared appreciation for the natural world created a bond that transcended the constraints of time and illness.
"You know," he began, his eyes twinkling with a mix of wisdom and playfulness, "I believe that the act of documenting nature's wonders is a form of magic in itself. It's a way of preserving the fleeting moments of beauty and drawing inspiration from the world around us."
His words resonated with you deeply, and you realized that amid your fatigue and discomfort, you had discovered an unexpected source of inspiration and strength.
Papa Emeritus returned the journal to you with a gentle smile. "Keep documenting, keep exploring, and keep finding beauty even in the most unlikely places. Your journey with the natural world is a gift to both yourself and those fortunate enough to share in it."
And as you close your foraging journal and place it back in your satchel, you see Primo running quickly out of his office, before returning, carrying several books in his hands.
"Ah, my young forager, mind if I share some of my research and knowledge? "
“Of course, Papa”
Curious, you settled in, eager to hear what Papa Emeritus had to say.
"Some books about the plants and mushrooms you've been encountering," he began. "Fascinatingly, did you know that lingonberries were once used as a natural dye for textiles? And that bilberries were considered a source of sustenance for generations of foragers. Legend has it that pilots during the war would eat bilberry jam before missions, to improve their night vision during flights. Well of course the night vision part was disproven.”
Your eyes widened as Papa Emeritus shared his insights. The fact that he had taken the time to delve into the history and uses of the very plants you'd been collecting made you feel an even deeper connection to him.
“I had no idea“ you admitted, your excitement matching his own. "It's incredible how much knowledge is hidden within the natural world.”
Primo nodded; his eyes bright with enthusiasm. "Indeed, and every discovery adds to that tapestry of knowledge. It's a tapestry that we contribute to with every step we take into the woods, every journal entry we make, and every moment we spend in the company of nature. I have plenty of books here you can borrow on how to make use of things you encounter.”
As the conversation flowed, you found yourself engrossed in the exchange of stories and insights. With each shared fact and anecdote, the bond between you and Papa Emeritus deepened, transcending the roles of mentor and student, and transforming into a genuine friendship rooted in a shared love for the wild and its mysteries.
As the conversation flowed between you and Papa Emeritus, the hours slipped away unnoticed. The sun's warm embrace gradually gave way to the gentle hues of twilight that painted the room in a soft, amber glow. With each shared tale, the bond between you deepened, and the walls of Papa's cosy office seemed to hold not just the scent of herbs and tea, but also the weight of stories exchanged.
“I just needed to return the things—you let me borrow. And boy, I’m so glad I did”
With a contented sigh, Papa Emeritus leaned back in his chair, a knowing smile gracing his lips. "You know, my dear, sometimes the most unexpected moments bring us the greatest connections."
As the evening deepened, Papa Emeritus rose from his seat and walked over to a small shelf filled with leather-bound tomes.
“You should probably go rest, child” Primo gently voiced his words
“Yeah. I really should.”
"But before you leave, my dear, allow me to gift you with a book from my collection," he said, selecting a beautifully worn volume and placing it in your hands. "Consider it a token of our shared passion for the natural world."
You ran your fingers over the aged pages and smiled warmly at him. "Are you serious?” you ask “That’s so sweet of you.”
With a nod, he gestured toward the door. "Now, my dear, rest and let the herbs work their magic. Tomorrow is a new day, and I do not doubt that your resilience will triumph over this ghoulish flu."
As you left the cosy haven of Papa's office, carrying not just a book but also a heart full of newfound connection, you couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of purpose and a heart brimming with gratitude, you stepped back into your room, you can’t help but feel like smiling as you collapse on your bed.

Best things you can have on hand to deal with COVID:
HEATING PAD- helps with chills and when your skin hurts, also good about 4 days in when the coughing takes its toll on your neck muscles.
THROAT NUMBING SPRAY- you can find it in the pharmacy section or on amazon, usually around $10.
TISSUES WITH ALOE- you'll go through so many that if you just have the normal kind, your skin will dry out and you'll be getting a lot of nosebleeds.
TWO PILLOWS- Sleep on your stomach if you can, and use a 2nd pillow to prop up a shoulder so you're slightly on your side. I don't know why, but it makes it easier to breathe and you don't have as much phlegm building up in your throat to cough out the next morning.
GATORADE- you're gonna need a LOT of it, it helps with the headaches. If you don't like gatorade, try Propel, same basic product but with more natural-tasting flavors (though it uses artificial sweetener, which can upset some people's stomachs)
BLANKETS- all the blankets, so many blankets, just drown yourself in blankets.
Also, eating very hot and soft foods (noodles, fried rice, soups, etc.) helps a lot. Even if you absolutely don't want to even touch food, make yourself eat. It really does help.

Larry and the Desert Eaglet
Your request could not be completed, please try again later.
It was taking Larry everything within his essence to not chuck the electronic device into one of the pools leaving Casscarafa and watching the Veluza poke at it. Over an hour and a half later and the app still had not been fixed yet. This was no longer coincidental.
The sandstorm Kofu referred to had not gotten too bad yet, and fortunately for Larry he only had set foot in the Asado Desert right when it started. Which worked in his favor because he had left his sand goggles at home. Though he still would have preferred not having to slog through the desert with harsh particles blowing at his scrunched face and ounces of sand seeping into his shoes.
Larry made sure to tuck the Swablu away safely in a Pokeball before venturing into the desert. It was at the expense of him having to wake her up from a premature slumber, but he could deal with whatever repercussions she had in store for him later. Avoiding any unnecessary battling was the best course of action here. So he was careful to steer clear of the horde of Sandile and Hippopotas swimming vigorously through the sand, and he was cautious in sneaking past the Stonjourner when they had their tiny white eyes and large rocky bodies turned. There was a curious Cacnea and a frisky Phanpy that rolled too close, but Staraptor made quick work of them.
A great gust slapped across Larry’s face and he sneezed, coughing right after to clear out the particles in his throat. He hacked roughly, for almost fifteen seconds. When he ceased his coughing and sniffed, he could pick up the sound of a distant cry. No, cries . It sounded like a flock of Rufflet. Judging from the aggression of their cawing, they were fighting. And they were fighting hard . Utter savages those birds were. Their bull-headed ambition to fight anyone and anything no matter the opponent was something that Larry found incredible. Even with their own parents they were hellbent on picking fights as a means of acceptance. And there was no way Larry wanted to spend any time engaging in whatever brawl that was partaking between them. He had to be vigilant in where he stepped to make sure he wasn’t getting any closer.
He kept moving, the aggressive screeching of the birds suddenly died down and it gave his mind a sense of ease. Then he stopped. Something was in his path. It was a lone Rufflet. He was on his belly. Face down in the sand and completely still. Larry found himself inching closer to the fallen bird, his eyes squinted and a hand hovering over his eyes to get a better look.
He was alive. A melange of visible scrapes and gashes decorated his disarranged plumage, but he was breathing. The thought of leaving the bird quickly crossed his psyche. This was natural, right? That’s what Rufflet did. They started fights indiscriminately in a reckless attempt to get stronger and earn respect from their wounds. This one just so happened to lose. No need to intervene with nature.
Larry shook his head. No, that wasn’t the right way to think, the “Larry” way to think. It was alone and injured, the very least he could do was use a Potion so the eaglet would be able to stand up on his own and fly back home. Opening up his briefcase, Larry searched for a Full Restore, then paused, and grabbed the Super Potion instead. With a content nod, he pulled the trigger and spritzed a generous amount to each of the wounds. Starting with the bigger, more prominent injuries first and then moving to the smaller ones. He kept spraying until the orange mist dissipated and no more spit from the nozzle. A few seconds passed by and the bird began shambling around, lifting his ruffled head up ploddingly as if it weighed a ton. Instantly he flipped back onto his feet. His burly, berry-crushing claws partially buried in the sand. A few stray feathers fell from his body as it shook aggressively, a gruff caw vibrated his beak.
“Good to see that you’re okay,” Larry hummed, which snatched the bird’s attention. “I know you can’t help it, but you really should learn to pick your fights better.”
The bird cocked his head to the side, and Larry snorted. He rose to his feet and swiped a stray silver stand from his face. Well, that was that. Gotta keep moving. He picked his feet back up and walked around the Rufflet who hopped on his feet to keep his gaze on him.
Almost there. Just a few more miles of trudging through the sand and he’d finally be out and back onto the dirt path.
“Ruff!”
As if he teleported, his eyes met with the bird’s once again as he stared down at the feathery form right in front of him. It almost took him by surprise. Were Rufflet normally that fast?
“Rufflet! Ruff!” The bird kept squawking. The eyes were slanted in what looked like anger. Or determination.
Larry frowned back and shook his head. “No. I just healed you up, and you still want to fight?”
The Rufflet spread his gray wings and flapped them aggressively, again squawking loudly. Larry rolled his eyes. Ambition so strong that it was annoying. He knew someone like that.
Ignoring the bird, he carried on. He hadn’t even taken five steps forward when the Rufflet once again blocked his path, his warbling the same as before. Larry decided to be firm this time.
“No . You don’t want to fight me. Go home.”
Another series of caws. These didn’t sound affirmative. Larry continued to stare down at the bird, his blank expression slightly shifting into one of irritation and confusion.
“What? What do you want? So you don’t want to fight me, then?”
The Rufflet gave an affirmative response. He was getting somewhere. Another gust of wind whipped past and Larry rubbed his eyes with an arm. He looked back down at the eaglet. Well, if he didn’t want to fight him, what else did he want? Food? Was he hungry? Or perhaps…
Just maybe…
“You don’t want to fight me, but…you want to fight… with me? You want to fight for me?”
That must have been the answer, as the Rufflet expressed a joyful expression with squinted eyes and flew up to his eye level. And on instinct, Larry once again shook his head and walked around.
“No. You don’t want that. Go home.”
He was already anticipating the clashing of personalities with the rest of his new team. Adding a wayward species like a Rufflet would have made things difficult not just for him, but for the rest of his Pokémon. Arceus forbid the eaglet tried picking a fight with the Swablu or Oricorio. Larry didn’t even want to imagine training with the Rufflet’s evolved form. He would have hoped by the time he evolved, Rufflet would have already been accustomed to his personality and training style. Yet somehow he couldn’t help but worry about something going awry and he’d have to explain to his boss why he couldn’t keep a belligerent Braviary under control. What an interesting conversation that would be.

Personal rant feel free to ignore
Mother knows best lol, but not better than a pharmacy student
My mom being so contradictory will never cease to amaze me. So this week I've been feeling under the weather. Probably because of sleep deprivation and maybe a little bit of anemia (I've been forgetting to take my iron supplements). That combined with her constant need to spray rubbing alcohol into the air all day to "kill off the gnats" has led to me to be highly congested.
She wants me to take this cough medication called Father John's. It's an old-timey medication that's been around I think probably from her childhood or something, I don't know. Because it's an older medication, she thinks it will help. Just because it's old she thinks is this super good medication. Hate to break it to you, Mom, this medication was made during a time period when people could sell cyanide in a bottle and claim it was a cure for stomach aches. She's like "you're a pharmacist. You know it will help." I'm not a pharmacist yet, but I didn't refute her statement.
The Father John's I have right now, is a dextromethorphan cough medicine, which is a cough suppressant, not a decongestant. I told her this. I told her that the only time I'm coughing is when I need to cough up mucus which is in the morning and after I consume my food allergens. She's still pushing me to take the medicine telling me that it helped me when I had Covid. Um yeah...I was coughing nonstop when I was sick with Covid last summer. Of course it would help. It's. A. Cough. Suppressant.
It's so infantilizing the way she's speaking down to me trying to get me to take the medication. It was like, first, she tried to make me think taking the medication was my idea because "you're a pharmacist" and then the minute I said no, suddenly I don't know any better.
Then finally today, I woke up feeling worse, which I suspect has to do with the way I slept. I woke up with dizziness and upset stomach, but I fell asleep on my stomach and slept only for 3 hours. She had to argue with me again and I once again explained to her that it's not a decongestant. I told her that I need to take a decongestant. Y'all should have seen her face. Acting like she was taking to a stupid person. A face and gesture I'm used to seeing throughout my life.
She literally said, "Just this once, pretend to be stupid for me." I'm so done. I'm not going to take the medicine. There's no need to. It doesn't expire until September, and I'd rather have it for if I actually need it, than to use it up when I don't. I don't want me or anyone to have to have to rush to the store if ever I need it before the expiration. She's gonna have to force that shit down my throat which she won't...but in the event that she ever does, that will be it; I'm out and she's going to a home when she's old. If I won't tolerate that crap from my dad, my mom is no exception.
This is the not the first time she's tried to force me to take medicine or a supplement I didn't want to take. The other times I caved in, but this time I'm not going to cave. I'm going to listen to my body because this time I know the cause.
I'm feeling much better now after some Korean ramen soup, a cup of green tea (caffeine is natural decongestant), some vitamin supplements, and an open window.

Allergies: The Basics In A Nutshell
Introduction
Allergies can be a nuisance. They can make you cough and sneeze, and they can keep you from enjoying life. In this article, we'll talk about what allergies are, how they're treated, and how to avoid them!
What Are Allergies
Allergies are a reaction to an allergen. An allergen is any substance that causes the immune system to produce antibodies against it and trigger inflammation. Allergens can be environmental, food or medication and can be inhaled, ingested or injected into the body.
Allergic reactions occur when your body's cells release histamines as part of their normal response to foreign substances like pollen or peanuts (the latter is actually not a true nut). These histamines cause swelling in certain tissues such as sinuses or airways, leading to symptoms like congestion and difficulty breathing respectively.
Pollen
Pollen is a plant's male reproductive cells, which are produced in the stamen of flowers. Pollen grains are very small and can be carried by the wind. When you breathe in pollen-laden air, it may cause an allergic reaction if you're allergic to that particular type of pollen.
The most common symptoms for allergies caused by pollen include sneezing and watery eyes; however, some people experience asthma attacks after exposure to certain types of plants (like grasses). In addition to causing allergies, inhaling large amounts of certain types of pollen can lead to seasonal rhinitis or hay fever--a condition characterized by nasal congestion as well as other symptoms such as itchy eyes or throat irritation
Natural Remedies And Over-The-Counter Medications For Allergies
Many over-the-counter medications are available for the treatment of allergies, including antihistamines, decongestants, and nasal sprays. These drugs can help relieve symptoms such as sneezing and itching.
Natural remedies such as avoiding allergens (or even eating them!), taking probiotics or supplements like vitamin C may also be helpful in relieving your symptoms. You can also try some home remedies like apple cider vinegar mixed with honey to soothe an irritated throat or using aloe vera gel on skin rashes caused by allergies.
If you have severe reactions to pollen or other airborne irritants then visit your doctor right away; they will likely recommend medication that lasts longer than what's available at local pharmacies because they know how serious these conditions can become if left untreated
This is a Brief Overview of Allergies.
Allergies are a common and often serious medical condition that can cause symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes and skin rashes. Allergens are substances that trigger the immune system to produce antibodies called immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies. These IgE antibodies then bind to mast cells in the body's mucous membranes and blood vessels (such as those found under your tongue) causing them to release histamine into nearby tissues. This causes inflammation at the site of contact with allergens such as pollen grains or dust mites.
The most common types of allergic reactions include hay fever (seasonal allergies), asthma triggered by airborne allergens such as dust mites or mold spores; eczema triggered by contact with certain plants like poison ivy; hives caused by food allergy or insect bites; drug reactions resulting from taking certain medications such as penicillin antibiotics while being sensitive
Conclusion
Allergies are a common condition that can be managed with proper treatment. If you have any questions about allergies or how to manage them, please contact your physician.

Pristyn Care: How to Protect Your ENT Health in High-Pollution Areas
Pristyn Healthare — Environmental pollution is a growing concern worldwide, and its impact on our health is undeniable. Among the many health issues caused by pollution, ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) problems are often overlooked. High levels of pollutants in the air can aggravate allergies, cause respiratory infections, and lead to chronic ENT disorders. Protecting your ENT health in such areas requires awareness and proactive care. Renowned healthcare providers like Pristyn Care emphasize the importance of preventive measures to maintain overall well-being.
In this blog, Pristyn care will explain how to safeguard your ENT health while addressing some of the most effective practices recommended by leading healthcare providers.
The Impact of Pollution on ENT Health
Pollution affects the ENT system through various mechanisms, often exacerbating existing conditions or triggering new ones. Let’s look at how pollution can harm your ears, nose, and throat.
1. Nasal Irritation and Allergies
High-pollution areas are filled with allergens such as pollen, dust, and particulate matter, which can irritate the nasal lining. This often leads to allergic rhinitis, which is characterized by:
Sneezing
Nasal congestion
A runny nose
Itchy or watery eyes
Prolonged exposure to such allergens can also weaken the nasal passage, making you more susceptible to infections.
2. Chronic Sinusitis
Polluted air often contains fine particles that can block the sinuses, leading to inflammation and infection. Common symptoms include:
Severe headaches
Pressure or pain in the forehead, cheeks, and around the eyes
Difficulty breathing through the nose
Chronic sinusitis can significantly impact your quality of life if left untreated.
3. Ear Infections and Hearing Issues
Pollution doesn’t only affect your nose and throat — it can also lead to problems in the ears. Noise pollution, airborne toxins, and dirty water sources are common culprits. Common issues include:
Middle ear infections caused by bacterial or fungal growth
Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) due to excessive noise exposure
Gradual hearing loss
4. Throat Irritation and Infections
Chemical pollutants like vehicle exhaust and industrial smoke can irritate the throat lining, causing:
Persistent cough
Dryness and itching in the throat
Hoarseness or changes in voice
In severe cases, this may lead to chronic pharyngitis or other infections.
Practical Tips to Protect Your ENT Health
Here are some actionable steps to shield your ears, nose, and throat from pollution:
1. Wear a Mask in Polluted Areas
Face masks can filter out harmful particles and allergens, reducing your exposure to polluted air. Opt for masks with HEPA filters for maximum protection.
2. Keep Indoor Air Clean
Invest in air purifiers to maintain clean indoor air quality. Regularly clean your home to eliminate dust and allergens.
3. Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of water helps keep your mucous membranes moist, aiding in the natural filtration of pollutants.
4. Use Saline Nasal Spray
A saline nasal spray can flush out pollutants from your nasal passages, providing relief from congestion and irritation.
5. Avoid Smoking and Secondhand Smoke
Tobacco smoke aggravates ENT issues. Avoid smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke to minimize throat and lung irritation.
6. Limit Outdoor Activities During High-Pollution Days
Check air quality indexes and plan outdoor activities when pollution levels are lower. Early mornings are usually less polluted.
7. Maintain Ear Hygiene
Clean your ears regularly but avoid overuse of earbuds, as they can push wax further inside and cause infections.
8. Strengthen Your Immune System
Include a balanced diet rich in vitamins C and E to enhance your immunity against infections caused by pollutants.

Role of Lifestyle Changes in Protecting ENT Health
While professional medical support is vital, lifestyle changes can significantly enhance your ability to cope with pollution.
1. Exercise Regularly
Physical activity boosts lung capacity and strengthens the respiratory system, helping the body filter out pollutants. Regular exercise also aids in clearing mucus and reduces inflammation in the nasal passages and throat, improving overall ENT health.
2. Adopt a Healthy Diet
A diet rich in antioxidants, such as berries, spinach, and nuts, helps combat oxidative stress caused by pollutants. Foods high in vitamin C (like oranges and bell peppers) and omega-3 fatty acids (from fish and walnuts) can reduce inflammation and support the immune system, helping the body fight off respiratory infections.
3. Practice Breathing Exercises
Breathing exercises, such as Pranayama, help cleanse the respiratory system, increase lung capacity, and improve oxygenation. These techniques also help reduce stress, which can worsen ENT conditions like sinus congestion and asthma.
4. Avoid Spicy and Acidic Foods
Spicy and acidic foods can irritate the throat and worsen symptoms of ENT disorders. Reducing intake of such foods can prevent additional strain on the throat, especially if you’re already exposed to pollution.
Conclusion
Protecting your ENT health in high-pollution areas requires a combination of preventive measures, lifestyle changes, and professional medical support. Is Your Environment Making Your Breathing Problems Worse?
Breathing difficulties are increasingly common, especially in urban areas where air pollution, allergens, and other environmental factors can make respiratory issues worse. In Gurgaon, a city known for its rapid urbanization and high levels of pollution, breathing problems are especially prevalent. Understanding how environmental factors may be impacting your respiratory health is essential, and homoeopathy offers a natural and effective approach to managing these issues.
Understanding the Environmental Impact on Breathing The environment you live in plays a critical role in your respiratory health. Factors like air pollution, allergens from plants and pets, chemical fumes, and even indoor pollutants can trigger or worsen breathing issues. In Gurgaon, residents face high pollution levels due to vehicular emissions, industrial waste, and construction dust. This pollution aggravates conditions like asthma, bronchitis, and allergic rhinitis, especially among sensitive individuals.
How Pollution in Gurgaon Impacts Respiratory Health
Poor air quality in Gurgaon can lead to both short-term and long-term respiratory problems. Constant exposure to pollutants damages lung tissue and reduces lung function over time, leading to chronic conditions. Dust, smoke, and chemical pollutants settle in the lungs, causing inflammation, chest congestion, and breathing difficulties. People with existing respiratory conditions such as asthma may experience flare-ups more often, with symptoms like shortness of breath, wheezing, and coughing.
Signs Your Environment Might Be Affecting Your Breathing
It can sometimes be challenging to identify if your environment is the root cause of your respiratory issues. Here are some signs that indicate environmental factors might be affecting your breathing:
Persistent coughing or sneezing
Tightness in the chest
Wheezing or shortness of breath
Fatigue and irritability
Dry or itchy throat
If you experience these symptoms frequently, especially indoors or when outdoors in heavily polluted areas, your environment could be the culprit.

Tips to Improve Indoor Air Quality
Improving your indoor environment can make a significant difference. Consider these tips:
Use air purifiers with HEPA filters to reduce allergens.
Regularly clean air conditioning filters and ducts.
Avoid synthetic fragrances or aerosol sprays.
Keep plants indoors that help purify air naturally, like snake plants and peace lilies.
Conclusion
If you’re struggling with breathing problems in Gurgaon and suspect that environmental factors are at play, consider seeking a holistic approach to treatment. The Long Road - Faded Slackerz
The air was thick with that late-night summer heat, the kind that makes the inside of your car smell like sweat, spilled soda, and whatever mix of body spray you thought would impress someone at the party. I was driving, hands gripping the steering wheel like my life depended on it, even though the streets were as empty as my head at that moment. Next to me, Alyssa sat in the passenger seat, legs crossed like she had nowhere to be and all the time in the world to get there.
"Take the long way," she said suddenly, out of nowhere.
Her voice was like a challenge wrapped in a request. Casual, but with the kind of weight that made my stomach do that nervous flip it had been doing all night.
I glanced at her, trying to play it cool. My heart was pounding like I had just run a marathon.
"The long way?" I echoed, my voice sounding way higher than I wanted it to. Smooth.
She looked over at me with that mischievous smile. "Yeah, I don’t feel like going home yet. Let’s get lost or something."
Get lost? I was already lost. I had been lost the minute she asked me for a ride home after the party. The big party. The one everyone in school had been talking about all week. And now here I was, the nerdy kid who spent more time in his basement playing Sega than going to parties, driving Alyssa from the cheer squad home. Well, not home, apparently.
The air between us felt electric, like a mixtape of 90's alt-rock and my own teenage panic, all playing at once. I cleared my throat, trying to think of something clever to say, but my brain was short-circuiting. I was stuck somewhere between the desire to impress her and the paralyzing fear that I’d say something stupid. “Play some music, do you have the new Smashing Pumpkins tape?” I’m not even listening, way too nervous. My entire high school experience wrapped up in one car ride.
"You were quiet back at the party," she said, breaking the silence as she pulled her feet up onto the seat, resting them on the dashboard. Her ankles were skinny, and her toenails were painted black, chipped at the edges.
I shrugged, trying to think of an excuse.
"Yeah, well, I’m not really a party guy."
"No kidding," she said with a laugh, and for a second, I thought I had blown it.
But then she turned in her seat to face me, tucking her hair behind her ear like we were in one of those movies where the girl finally notices the shy guy. Only this wasn’t a movie, and I wasn’t the shy guy. I was just… me.
We passed the 7-Eleven where half the kids from the party would end up after hooking up, getting too drunk, or just running out of things to do. Alyssa didn’t seem to care. Her window was rolled down halfway, and her arm hung out lazily, catching the breeze as we rolled past the strip mall.
"Why did you ask me to take you home?" I asked, my voice cracking just a little at the end. I immediately regretted asking. Too vulnerable. Too soon.
She shrugged like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"You seemed different. Like, real, you know? All those other guys at the party were just trying too hard. It was exhausting."
Real. That word hung in the air for a minute, making me feel like maybe I wasn’t such a mess after all. Like maybe, just maybe, I could be the guy who takes the long way and doesn't overthink every single thing. Maybe tonight would be the night everything changes. Maybe tonight I—
"Are you scared of me?" she asked, cutting right through my internal monologue like she had read my mind.
I laughed, but it came out as more of a nervous cough.
"What? No. I mean, why would I be scared of you?"
Alyssa raised an eyebrow, not buying it for a second.
"You’re gripping that steering wheel like it’s about to fly out of the car."
I glanced down at my hands, realizing that my knuckles were turning white. Slowly, I relaxed my grip and tried to laugh it off, but it felt forced. She saw right through it, of course. Girls like Alyssa always see right through guys like me.
"Just relax, okay? I’m not gonna bite."
Yeah, but if you asked me to kiss you, my brain might explode, I thought, though I wisely kept that one to myself. I loosened up a bit, letting my arm rest out the window like hers. The night was warm, and the streetlights blurred into streaks as we cruised along the quiet roads.
"So," she said, breaking the silence again, "you ever been with a girl before?"
And just like that, my heart was back to doing Olympic-level gymnastics in my chest. I nearly slammed on the brakes, but I managed to keep it together, only swerving a little bit as I tried to play it cool. "Uh, what do you mean?"
She smiled like she knew exactly what she meant, but wanted to watch me squirm anyway.
"You know, like... have you ever, you know...?" Her voice trailed off, teasing.
Oh, I knew. Of course, I knew. And no, I hadn’t. I was a certified nerd in a flannel shirt and baggy jeans, the kind of guy who was more familiar with "Star Wars" than the backseat of a car.
"I mean, uh, not really?" I stammered, immediately wishing I could take it back.
She didn’t seem surprised. In fact, she kind of laughed, but not in a mean way. More like she thought it was cute or something.
"It’s okay," she said softly, "I kind of like that."
Wait, what? Did I just step into some alternate universe where being a dork was actually working in my favor? My palms were sweaty, and my heart was pounding, but suddenly, it didn’t feel so bad. In fact, it felt like the nerves were mixing with this... excitement. Like, maybe this could be one of those moments you look back on and laugh about when you’re older.
We drove in silence for a while after that, the long road stretching out in front of us like some uncharted territory. The kind of road you take when you don’t really want to go home just yet. When you’re not quite ready for the night to end.
"Turn here," she said, pointing to a random street that I didn’t recognize.
I followed her directions without question, not even caring where we ended up. The stars were out, and the world felt smaller with just the two of us in it. We were lost, yeah, but for once, I didn’t feel scared about it.
And maybe that’s what boyhood was all about.
