Annie Oakley's ability with rifles in Buffalo Bill's Wild West gave many female sharpshooters and hunters notoriety. Tom Lovell was an American illustrator and painter. He was a creator of pulp fiction magazine covers and illustrations, and of visual art of the American West. He produced illustrations for National Geographic magazine and many others, and painted many historical Western subjects such as interactions between Indians and white settlers and traders. Day seven. Those of you who know me well know John Wayne is my man. Here I am with him at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. He was instrumental in getting this magnificent museum started that preserves the history and the lore of the old west. Next is the Oklahoma State Capitol. Followed by the original Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel. Some of you may have ridden on it. It was sold in 1997 and is operational in Oklahoma City. The last is also a sad point of history in our country. Lafayette Maynard Dixon (1875-1946) “HOME OF THE BLACKFEET” 1938 Oil on Masonite Photo is taken by: @robertpuffjr In 1917 Dixon visited Charles M. and Nancy Russell at their Glacier Park cabin, Bull Head Lodge, and stayed on the Blackfeet Reservation at nearby Browning, Montana. Dixon found a landscape and people that suited his bold and enigmatic compositions, and provided him with subject matter for the rest of his career.
