Now, when Diggy made a mental list of the things she would do in her spare time, as one does in preparation for, say, week-ends, she would put a lot of different things on top of it, variety oblige. Going to the park to get some fresh air, hanging out with friends, hanging out at the harbor without falling in the water, beating her record for most can juggles in one go, going spelunking, digging a hidden fort complete with dragging a few cushions down under.

Hell, there even was going to (Boing-boing) Park somewhere in there - as if she’d ever scrounge up the money to actually GO there, but, one can dream, can’t they? Overall, there was a lot of choice, and Diggy liked to think she could have fun doing a lot of things. But even she had to admit that visiting a power plant on an open doors event just because some mustache-twirling bureaucrat somewhere thought it’d be nice to show off their really nice power plant? NOT ON THE LIST.

But as she watched her sister leaning on a shiny steel handrail, put together to accomodate the influx of visitors, watching large arrays of solar pannels glinting in the sunlight with her characteristic curiosity, she couldn’t help but feel slightly amused. Happy even. Celerity seemed quite glad to take the event as an opportunity to learn, and it had been her idea to go, anyways.

Diggy just felt good with the advantages of the situation, starting with a happy sister... and followed closely by the table covered in cheap paper tablecloth, loaded with cups of fruit juice and peanuts she could spy in what she supposed was a demonstration area of sorts. Well, free stuff! It was maybe a bit slimy but, she really didn’t care.

“C’mon Cele! Looks like they’re doing something over there!” Diggy nagged her sister, poking her side to get her to move. Celerity merely looked down at her younger sister, a mischevious smile stretching her lips. “Oh, the peanuts?” Caught without even trying, the little ‘bot rolled her eyes with a groan. “Yes, tha’ peanuts. But also the people. We can multitask!” She huffed, to which Celerity promptly looked at the crowd, then at her sister, and picked her up, setting her on her shoulders after pushing her mane out of the way.

Diggy gave a sad noise of defeat. “Come on, try to enjoy learning about solar energy! It’s really interesting, you know?” Celerity chirped, prancing over to the table to first get a handful of peanuts, before sauntering over to the crowdn which pulled another groan from her sister - because why not. She was invested in the situation, she could get them in advance. Diggy would once she’d gotten off her shoulders.

“What even ARE they doing over there, anyways?”

Day 356  Locked in

S wanted to walk from Winkworth Arboretum and the surrounding countryside. It will not become a favourite. Lots of woodland trails and quite a lot of elevation. One hill took us up the top of Hydons Ball, a so called NT beauty spot. Not a lot of beauty but some interest relating to Octavia Hill, a social reformer, who helped found the Natiional Trust. There is a stone seat that commemorates her work and was a welcome rest point after the climb up.

Took the camera along but not one single opportunity presented itself. Then it nearly turned into a disaster. When we got back to the car park ar 17.00, ours was the only car left. There was a note on the windscreen telling us that the car park closed at 16.00 (an hour earlier), had been locked up and giving us telephone numbers of cab companies. Thankfully, a couple of young staff were still at the gate and unlocked it allowing us to escape unpunished. We both agreed, this walk has been done for the last time.

Here's a photo I took on my Tasmania trip earlier in the year. I traveled around Tasmania for two weeks in a campervan, stopping off in Devonport, Port Arthur, Bicheno, The Bay of Fires, Hobart, Cradle Mountain and Launceston along the way. This was shot on the last night of the trip when we stayed up all night and camped out under the stars after the hour and a half trek up the summit of Mount Atmos in the Freycinet Natiional Park. I had been monitoring the Aurora activity for the past month and was lucky enough to observe it appearing at around 3am at the summit, overlooking Wineglass Bay. This was definitely a trip highlight and made the whole trip worthwhile.
