Album Premiere: Nathan Angelo, Out Of The Blue

“It’s time we get back to the music that moves us,” Nathan Angelo sings during “Get Back,” the first track from his new album, Out of the Blue. It’s a funky record, filled with the analog attitude and old-school R&B swagger of artists like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Jackson 5, and the Temptations. It’s also a love letter to Angelo’s wife, whom he met on the road two years ago.

“Out of the Blue is the album that I’ve always wanted to make,” he says, “but I was not ready to make it. Until now. When I began to evaluate the songs that I had written after the release of my previous album, a congruent sonic theme emerged, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that a conceptual narrative had emerged as well.”
