and Ace sat at the table tapping her fingers for a bit. She was a little early but she hadn’t had anything else to do and Nate was being kind enough to lend her more books so she didn’t want to waste his time. Better to be early and wait for him than making him wait for her. This was the place he had told her to meet her. She pulled the other book in her bag out and set it on the table to return to it him. She only ever really borrowed one book from him at a time and always returned one when she borrowed a new one from him. She was very thankful he was willing to share his books and she liked being able to discuss the books after with him. He saw things she had never thought about and he challenged her ideas which was fun. She also enjoyed his wit and quips since she didn’t have to temper her words and could just be herself and say what was on her mind.
She sipped her tea. She had gotten two glasses of water as well. One for her and one for him in case he wanted to stay and chat for a bit when he got there. She would have gotten him a pastry if she knew what he would like. She would offer when he arrived since he was sharing his books. She hummed softly to herself as she waited. She was humming Take it Like a Man. She had asked Nate to bring her The Bear and the Nightingale.

Is it just me or are Nate and Ava getting all sorts of cozy? Could love be in the air?
They do seem to be, nonnie. I don’t know about love, but I can say I’m rooting for these two. They’re oddly adorable, which is not something I thought I’d ever say about our resident grump, Nate Hastings. It’s certainly nice to see Ava putting a smile on his face.

Grace had always been a morning person, preferring to rise when the sun did. Instead of going for a run in the morning this time, she had other plans. Tip toeing towards the sleeping form of her brother, Grace grinned. They had made plans to scope out apartments once the new year had started, so she figured now was as good of a day as ever. “Nate!” She exclaimed while gently shaking him. “Nate, come on. We’ve got a long day today!”

Summer had arrived at the hospital shortly after hearing that her friend was there, though it’d been some time until she was allowed in. A majority of that time was spent in the gift shop, collecting an assortment of items and when she could decide what to get, decided to get them all. Upon approval to enter the room, she stumbled in – arms loaded with cards, flowers, teddy bears, and balloons. “Uh – hey, hi –” A bright smile offered, despite the situation. She quickly began setting the assortment of items along the nearest table. “I think I may have went a little overboard, I’m sorry, I can take whatever you don’t want back.” She went on, before sitting herself down. “How are you doing?”

Despite his dislike of people, Alastair did occasionally like to spend time in the cafes around town. The hustle and bustle provided good ambient noise for his writing, and if it got to be too much, he could block it all out with his headphones. It was also a good place to study people. Though Alastair didn’t necessarily want to interact with them, he was interested in the interactions of others. He never knew when something might spark an idea.
Today was not a people watching day, though. Not yet anyway. Alastair was absently picking at a muffin and sipping at his coffee as he read the morning paper. It was larger, and more cumbersome than its digital counterpart, but Alastair enjoyed the feel of it, and the crinkling of the papers. He couldn’t quite get comfortable though. Someone was watching him.
Lowering his newspaper a bit, Alastair raised an eyebrow. “Was there something you wanted?”

Mara knocked softly on Nate’s bedroom door before she opened the door slowly. Glancing in as she did a once over of his room and him to make sure there wasn’t anyone hiding anywhere. “Hey.” Smiling towards him as she walked further into the room she pulled the pizza out from behind her back. “I come baring food.” Telling him with a smile, she tossed the box over to him before falling back onto his bed with a sigh. “It feels like it’s been forever since i’ve got hang out with you.” Mara commented, she hit his leg lightly with her foot. “What have you been up to? You know besides the given and the fact you went on a spontaneous vacation.”

After the day she’d had talking with Jett and drinking at Hair of the Dog, Lola was on her way back to Jett’s when a familiar scent caught her attention. Stopping in the street, the brunette closed her eyes for a moment before she turned and followed the scent, climbing up onto a roof and finally spotting the man she’d been looking for. “Hey.” She said rather nonchalantly, taking a seat down next to him. “How’s it going?”

To say Ava was excited for this was an understatement, especially given how awful the fashion show had turned out. Looking down at the map once more as she walked followed the given route, she continued to walk down the path. Once Ava reached the clearing and saw the back of the familiar now red hair and her face broke out into a grin. “You know I have to admit I’m rather impressed.” Ava said as she announced her presence to him. “There was a part of me that half worried I was wrong and it was going to be basket four with it’s broken handles and squished in lid.” Shaking her head as she spoke, a smile was still spread across her lips. “I’m really glad that I was right and ended up getting you. This has probably been the best part of my day so far.” Admitting as a blush crept up her cheeks and she looked down at the basket once more and what was inside of it. “So we should probably eat before this gets cold right?” Carrying the basket over to the picnic blanket before putting it down next to him. “I mean you made all of this for us, well your date partner, so— yeah we should just eat.” Sitting down next to the basket, she smiled once more and started to unpack the food. “So should we eat the basket first or go with the salad?”

Ryan let out a light chuckle. “If I answer @dashhastings too fast will he appear right behind me? In all seriousness, though, I can’t not name my favorite family, so the Hastings lot for sure ( @oliverhastings & @natehastings ). And then… @zanehartman and @jettdanvers to round it out I guess.”

Ace looked over at the guy with her in this elevator. She didn’t really know much about him but so far he’s been pretty honest and kind in his own way. She wanted to know what his name was though since calling someone hey you wasn’t exactly a useful thing or a very different way since many people could assume they were the you being called for. She had the booked tucked in her bag and was excited to get to read it. She hadn’t read a book since before she’d been forced into this. There had been no money for them and no way to go into a library because what if she lost control or what if she was found there? She tilted her head catching a sound. That did not sound good. The weather outside had been getting pretty bad. She heard the sound again and froze. Yep very bad sound. She tensed and moved to try to make sure the male didn’t get hurt as the elevator shuddered then began to fall. It abruptly stopped and she banged her shoulder into a wall. Not aa fun feeling. Least it hadn’t dislocated. The storm must have destroyed the power and now they were stuck in an elevator. Great. She looked at the male. “Guess we are stuck here. You okay?” She looked him over looking for any injuries that could be serious.
She sighed. “Well since we are stuck in a metal box might as well know what to call each other. I’m Ace. What’s your name?”

“Don’t leave me.” - Nate
The second those words left her brother’s lips, Grace spun around to look at him. She had no intention on ever leaving her brother again, but the fact that he said that out loud to her made her tear up. “Hey, Nate, look at me. I’m not going anywhere without you. Never again. Even if I have to drag your butt across the world. I’m not leaving you behind.” She pulled Nate into a hug, hoping she had been able to hide her tears quick enough. No. She couldn’t bare the thought of being apart from her brother again. Not when he needed her.

The anxiety was getting to him, and with a once-in-a lifetime super blood blue moon coming up, everything felt heightened. He was obsessing about the different decisions Joslyn could make- please, dear God, he would give anything to not have to write about local events anymore. No more earthquakes.
As he walked home, hands in his pockets, head ducked, trying to swallow the lump in his throat that just wouldn’t disappear, Ned’s shoulder collided with someone else, an aggressive almost-push resulting from the collision of two fast-walking people who weren’t paying attention. “Hey,” Ned said, looking up, his voice rougher than usual. “Mind watching where you’re going next time?”

Dolls could taunt. It didn’t matter that they were inanimate objects, or that Oliver Wyatt Hastings was a fully grown mad of twenty-eight years, that he was now a werewolf with heightened senses, that he had overcome his fear of heights.
His niece’s doll sat perched on the roof, ungraceful in the way only an inaminate object could be- no pain written all over her face, no screeching about the degree to which her arm was bent.
He sure as shit wasn’t going up there. But there was one person who could.
“Nate,” Ollie yelled as he headed inside the house. “Come out come out wherever you are.”
