i have been watching the stupid mid firefighter show and i’m so angry because they fucking invented love. they’re both so fucking stupid and damaged and they want to jump each other’s bones from the moment they meet and they do an enemies to repressed hopeless pining within a single fucking episode and they have a son. the guy who’s the son’s biological father is like well gee not sure i want his actual mum around but this confused puppy of a guy? yes. i need him to look after my son. no i’m not gay i just need to stare into my good friend’s eyes for a bit. no homo. we have friends who are lesbians. and meanwhile the bisexual one who isn’t even gonna kiss a guy for another five seasons is perfecting the fine art of Yearning. every episode starts and ends with the most saccharine voice-over you’ve heard in your life and i can only assume that every second in between when these guys aren’t on screen they’re pining-while-fucking in the locker room. the emergencies they attend to are pulled directly from sensationalist warnings reposted uncritically by boomers on facebook. i’ve barely started season three. i’m so angry.

One thing I had to do for Back to the Finale: Part III was figure out the state of the Waverider in-story and the biggest part of that was tracking how the rooms changed owners over the years.

It got so confusing that I physically had to map it out and I wanted to share for anyone else who might need it.

The basics: The Waverider has 8 presumably identical rooms that were then modified by Jax and Rip before season 2.

The boxes around the names are for where it's not clear who took which room, e.g. Nate could have taken either Snart or Kendra's room.

To sum up:

Mick and Sara were the only ones to stay in their rooms the whole time (unless one of them swiped Rip's at the beginning of season 3)

Astra got Ray's room.

Amaya and Nate took Snart and Kendra's rooms. Then Amaya's went to either Charlie or Mona.

Martin's room went to Leo for a short time and then either Wally or Rip while the other person got Jax's empty room.

After Wally, Rip, and Amaya left one of their rooms went to Charlie, one to Mona, and one was left empty while John chose to sleep in the library. Gary took over the empty room eventually.

Zari 2.0 got Mona's room and Spooner got Charlie's.

i just finished rewatching the van gogh job and i have so many emotions about it.

i love that not only does this show have an interracial romance, they have an entire episode addressing the significance of it, and it's a parker episode. parker's episodes are about her growing, figuring out how to be more of herself, who she wants to be, and learning how to navigate the world around her and the relationships she has with her people and with her past.

so the episode comes out not with a trite message about not wasting time, but with a recognition of. it's scary, to take that leap, to leave behind what you know knowing that danger and hurt are, in some form, ahead of you. it's really hard. dorothy couldn't do it. which isn't a bang on her–she made a choice because she knew of something happened to charlie she couldn't take care of herself, and her being with him would put both of them in danger.

the point is that parker and hardison are on that same edge dorothy and charlie were. and what the episode is saying to parker is that it's okay to be scared and she's right, it is going to be hard, and it is going to hurt. she can take her time, but. there is only so much time. so when she's ready–she and hardison have the choice and the chance that dorothy and charlie–they didn't, not really.

and i just think that's really cool.

Sooo, lately, I have seen a few Hoof Trim Videos on TikTok, especially from Nate the hoof guy. And those got me thinking. We do have a few characters in Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss who have hooves. Mostly the imps but also Charlie and Alastor are seen with hooves.

I know Alastor has shoes on, and it could just be drawn on his shoes, but there is also a canon merch mouse pat that shows Alastor with hooves.

So I was wondering, do they need trims for their hooves? Are there professional hoof trimers in hell? I imagine it would be just like in reality that their hooves need regular trims just like nails, but it's hard to do yourself. Also just like in the videos I've watched, there could be issues like defects or something stuck in them, that has to be professionally treated.

Most videos I've seen are about cow hooves and I think most hooves in the show are goat-like hooves or for Alastor deer hooves, so I don't know if the procedures would be the same, but it's still fun to imagine the character going to a trimmer.

Since I'm a sucker for Alastor whump and I think he is someone who wouldn't admit he needs help, even if he is in obvious discomfort, I got a specific scenario stuck in my head. He wears shoes most of the time but his hooves still get defects from time to time. And sometimes he does walk around without his shoes, especially if no one is around to see him, or maybe just when around Rosie, because it actually is good to feel his feet on the bare ground in between.

Eventually, he actually gets a bad defect and something even gets stuck in there, but he ignores it at first. At some point, he starts to feel pressure in his hoof and it's harder to walk without some discomfort. Discomfort turns into pain and he starts to lame while walking. He is careful to not let anyone notice and even goes so far as to teleport everywhere even if it is just a few steps, just so he doesn't have to walk in front of others. But the rest of the hotel does figure out what's going on. When questioning him about it he just shrugs it off, but they, especially Charlie are not happy with that at all. During some activity, she somehow gets him to walk around and notices his lameness. She privately confronts him about it and assures him there is nothing to be ashamed of, after all, she has hooves too, and experiences issues like that herself as well. She offers to call her personal hoof trimer, Nate, but he refuses at first, saying he can take care of it himself. After some arguing, she convinces him to agree, if she promises to keep this a secret.

Imagine Alastors annoyance if the hoof trimmer tells him to lie on his stomach so the heel is on top because it's easier for him to work on the hoof. At first, he regrets agreeing to it, but as soon as he feels the pressure in his foot leaving he is instantly relieved. But then the trimmer puts a block on the other claw and puts a big wrap on, and Alastor is annoyed again because he realizes even if Charlie doesn't tell anyone this will be hard to hide. However the trimmer explains, that it won't be able to heal otherwise and he will come back to check on it in a few weeks. Alastor is not happy about that news, but goes along with it anyway, since he is at least not showing lameness anymore.

Now I'm also wondering what other kinds of ailments demons with animal forms could get, that are specific to the animal they are representing?

Legends' Gifts For The Avalance Baby's First Birthday

I was thinking about this for fic reasons but it quickly evolved into its own thing. Let me know if you've got any other ideas.

Ray and Nora

They would give a useful invention and/or magical charm. I'm thinking something that would make parents' lives easier without being an untested, potentially dangerous device around an infant/toddler.

Kendra and/or Carter

Separate or together (I'm not really a fan of the comics direction) I think they would get the most normal gifts as the people who have been parents many times.

Mick

Crème brûlée torch. 'It's for food' is his only explanation when anyone questions it.

Mushroom plush. It was supposed to be a joke but it becomes the kids main lovey because kids are delightfully unpredictable.

Gwyn

Haunted doll (not intentionally). Zari lends Gwyn $50, which already freaks him out (inflation calculator says it's ~$900). And when he tries to go to the mall he walks into the Macy's (a name he recognizes) but enters through the underwear-section door and he instantly turns back around to walk out. Eventually he finds an antique store with this perfectly acceptable children's gift and she is 100% haunted but the ghost is chill.

(I cruised through the doll aisle at a thrift store to find one I liked for this)

Gideon

Gideon has only known one baby personally so I think she'd go with some hot 22nd century or historic toy that was Jonas' favorite as a baby. Or she'd pick the toy with the best reviews at the exact time of the birthday.
