First SFF Novel
Parted Waters is a first SFF novel, and the first part of a fantasy trilogy set in the magical world of 'Wiera Earth'. Colorful lands fly off the pages, woven together by the unraveling story of the passionate characters that fill them. Very different. Very new too!

"In the end you start to think about the beginning..." [Mr & Mrs Smith Quote]:
Do you think you could dissolve yourself now and then into pieces of eternity? Do you know the inner you? Do you fly, can you feel your wings?

"In the end you start to think about the beginning..." [Mr & Mrs Smith Quote]:
I grew up with a powerful impression of fantasy, idealism and make-belief from childhood and for me the Tales from the Broken Bowl books celebrate my orientation into this spectacular, universal pop culture of fantasy/adventure novels.

"In the end you start to think about the beginning..." [Mr & Mrs Smith Quote]:
We came to a curtain of leaves and flowers held up by the trees' overhanging branches.  It shifted when stirred by the breeze, a wall of entwined and interwoven vine-like green and violet stems beneath the fabric of flowers.  It was a gateway to another realm.  I, who had never crossed this path before, knew this.  Could feel it.

The Guitar Notes
The guitar notes
are flames,
The soft,
deliberate strumming,
The flicks of fire
drumming on the wind,
The song,
a long burning stream, Scenes of
red and yellow rain,
A rising fever
drawing me in,
The chorus,
the darkness
set ablaze,
The guitar notes,
are rising,
Strings tuning,
Tongues turning,
winding on threads,
Reverberating, a swelling
consummation,
I'm awakening,
Shaken and stirred,
The song,
It's quickening my pulses into
response,
The tuning of force into
a flowing wind,
Sweeping now, whirling through me as
she plays.

"In the end you start to think about the beginning..." [Mr & Mrs Smith Quote]:
Nostalgic Cuts
I hear old songs that remind me of bright rooms I've been in Clothing I've worn and bed cloths I've slept in Foods I have tasted and touches addictive Flooring and furniture; pleasing, offensive Colors and art form playing games with the senses Emotion a drama with see-through pretences I feel episodes of relationships in the changes of weather Lightning and darkening skies we walked under Slow days eagerly marked off the calender Fast cars that swore lives to end suddenly together Sunlight and night lights that lit up perception Time; the smoke mist lifts above all deception I go through the words spun around our existence Caught in the web of my mind by persistence Twisted and forged like keen tools to educate me Thoughts of new strangers projecting what things ought to be I stop in my tracks, stuck in the ruts Perhaps there is something I forgot to let go of? Chasms could fall open to spill out ghosts I love Had something been magical about past innocence? Was everything truly new and full of substance? I contact emotion, sink in nostalgic cuts Is an experience thriced or doubled somehow corrupted? Are lessons learnt over again dubiously adopted? With restless conviction I watch old scars and new incissions And will wait for another brought by time to pry open For wisdom is a practice, I am a surgeon in white gloves As I conquer every emotion, I conquer the world.

Close-Midnight...
Swallowed alive by the light of a dream ship Turned over in the tangy sting of a mouthful Of a liquor sip Close-Midnight’s twilight kisses our souls stun-gunned Slowly we become the ones.

"In the end you start to think about the beginning..." [Mr & Mrs Smith Quote]:
LET ME NOT KNOW If this were so let me not know That never did you want me I’ll skip the woe at the chapter’s close And will not let it haunt me Hold back your words if they are swords To cut the heart out of me It may seem absurd that you are lord Of this but do not doubt me I’ll be content and won’t resent The feelings that wan for me But don’t repent the looks you sent That told me you adored me Just walk on past and do not cast Them anymore towards me They now won’t last but fade on fast Unless you say you love me (c) 2002 Natasha Ashwe

Glorious Oblivion by Natasha Ashwe
Lost in the days’ powers
I devour nameless hours
Though somewhere inside me the substance of your absence keep thoughts of you awake,
Now I know what it means to wander
You used to be my calendar
Without you the road signs point ahead through this endless time of late,
The label on the bottle says
‘Alice, drink it in, drown,’
So, popping in and out of my bubbles of conscious dreams, I move forward,
I am what impulse made me say;
Yesterday. Today.
I will not follow after on your predetermined way
I never intended to change,
You walk onward because you’re ‘on track’ and will not glance back to see
How I register the aftershock of my loss
How I miss the kiss of the sun in your eyes you block from me,
I turn around without a sound
I will get lost in the life I have found on my own
You are a precious moment gone
Yet no matter, my walks in glorious oblivion have begun.

That a tale can be so crisp and boundlessly alive, thriving inside my mind and consciousness. It's such a promise, such a tease, actually, these flashing mirrors that slice through my reality.

"In the end you start to think about the beginning..." [Mr & Mrs Smith Quote]:
Most fantasy authors contain these things between the pages of their books; these spacious universes, [crazy people] yet I wonder, and think it very likely, that their minds hold the bulk of these gigantic theme park palaces of thought they so skillfully, intricately replicate into the singular weave of dreams their books become.

My mind is now like a museum hall filled with this fantasy book's paraphernalia - Princess Kadja's outfits and weaponry, artifacts from Ae'Anisia and the Vaene Citadel, a ring of statues depicting the Isles of Ornea, maps of the Southern and Western Worlds, a Quesian library, murals with the winged and fatastical creatures of the South; an endless visual banquet for readers to feast upon.

Their heads are definitely filled with fantasies, mine most certainly, because now I have the strong desire to create these vibrant galleries any way I can.
