Natasha had known for a while that she wanted to propose to you on Valentines day. The day was going to be special. She had the perfect proposal plan. The weeks leading up to it she hadn’t been that nervous. Then the days leading up to it the nerves finally set in. She was more than 100% confident you would say yes. But she was terrified that she would say something wrong or something would go wrong with her plans.
The day had meant something to the both of you that wasn’t just the hallmark holiday of it all. It was the day that you two had first met. The both of you were single at the time with nothing to do on the holiday. Your sister had dragged you to a lonely hearts speed dating event happening at a bar close to you. Natasha had been dragged there by a couple of her friends that were tired of seeing her spend the day alone.
Neither of you seemed to be interested in the event. Both being pretty monotone through the 5 minute conversations. Then Natasha was moving onto your table. You guys shared a hurried conversation that seemed to end all too soon. Natasha had thought about you the rest of the night. Snatching quick glances of you from any table she was at. You acted like you didn’t see her out of the corner of your eye. You had also tried to pretend that the looks she was giving you weren't having any effect on you.
The conversations after the one with each other had seemed to drag on all night. Then the event was coming to an end. But the bar was still plenty busy and you and Natasha had found your way to each other. Ordering some drinks and talking till close. It was the best night of her life. She wanted to make sure that you knew for the rest of your life just how special it was to her.
So she had told you to get dressed up and ready to go to your favorite restaurant but to wear sandals and bring a jacket. You guys enjoyed your food and light conversation. Her hand occasionally digging into her jacket pocket to fiddle with the box hidden away.
After dinner you both walked to the local ice cream place that you frequented. You got milkshakes and were on your way to the beach behind the shop. Both of you slipping off your shoes and sitting in the sand watching the few people out there dancing around much like the waves. The two of you talked about anything and everything you could think of. You finished your shakes and then stood up to throw them away.
Then the two of you were walking hand in hand down the beach. Water occasionally lapping at your feet making your nose scrunch up at the feeling of seaweed wrapping around your toes. You walked in silence just soaking up the presence of each other. Then you heard a plane in the sky and you looked up recognizing some of the markings on the belly of the plane.
“Sweetheart isn’t that Mavs plane?” You turned to ask your girlfriend pointing at the plane in the sky. You had expected to see her next to you but she was gone. You hadn’t even felt her hand slip from yours. Then you turned around to see if she was behind you figuring she might have found a good seashell to add to your collection.
But she was down on one knee with a box in her hand. Your hand flew up to your mouth covering the loud gasp you let out. Dropping your shoes that were in your other hand before that one came flying up to overlap with the other.
Just as quickly as they were covering your mouth they were disappearing. “Sweetheart? What’s in the box?” You asked with wide eyes and a big smile. Even though you were sure you’d already known the object laying inside, slotted away against velvet material.
“Baby girl all those years ago that I met you on this very day my life changed forever. I remember begging my friends not to drag me along with them. Telling them there was no way I was gonna find the one for me there. But the moment I set eyes on you I knew how hopelessly wrong I was. I have never felt more complete than I have while being with you. Will you do me the honors of spending the rest of our lives together?” She asked you, pulling open the lid of the box.
You had light tears making their way down your face. Staring at your beautiful girlfriend down on one knee asking for eternity. The perfect ring in her hand. You never felt more sure about answering a question before in your life. You quickly nodded your head sinking down to your knees meeting her in the sand.
“Yes, a thousand times yes. I couldn’t imagine living the rest of my life with anyone but you sweetheart.” You told her as she slipped the ring out of the box. You put your hand in hers and she was slipping it on. Before she was grabbing you into an embrace that had you both tipping over into the sand. She moved above you straddling your hips before both of her hands were on your face and she was kissing you. She kissed you for what seemed like hours. Thankful that her dress wasn’t riding up to far.
One of your hands wound its way into her hair. The other to her waist. The kiss started to get heated before you pulled away taking a deep breath. Slowly working your eyes open you saw your now Fiancé above you tears in her eyes a silly love sick grin on her face; looking at you like you were the only person in the world.
“I am so happy you said yes baby girl. Today and all those years ago when I asked if I could have your number. I can’t wait for the future we have ahead of us.” She told you as tears started running down her face. You reached your hand up, wiping some of her tears away with your thumb.
“Natasha Trace I have never said yes easier to anyone other than you. I knew that first day at the bar I was going to spend the rest of my life with you. I knew that 5 minutes wasn’t long enough with you, let alone the rest of our lives, but I’ll take as much time with you as I can get.” You spoke to her as you continued to stroke her cheek. This was by far the best Valentine’s Day ever. Your thoughts going to the ring you had sent off to be engraved.

A/N: I want to thank you so much for this ask! The second I saw it I knew what I wanted to write for this. Natasha has been flowing out of me today! I really really hope you like this part. Heres to my mini celebration!
Natasha had had the envelope setup since you guys made it to the 6 month mark of dating. 2 years in and the tradition still stood.  She would take it to the post office and give them a date to mail it out. It would simply arrive in your mailbox a couple of days after she was meant to be back. She would make sure to grab it from the mail once she came back from the mission so you wouldn’t see it. This time however she was back but unable to grab it. You had found the envelope this time.
Heading to the hospital you made sure to put the envelope in your bag. You had no idea what it was, just that it was addressed to you from Natasha. But she was still alive. She was just laid up in a hospital bed with a couple bruised ribs, a concussion and a fractured pride.
Her and Bob had been on a mission that had gone south and they had to eject. The ejection worked like it was supposed to. Her parachute however took too long to deploy and that caused her to have a rough landing to the ground. She had smacked her head on the ground and had landed on her ribs weirdly. No one knew how she had made it out with only a concussion and a few bruised ribs but everyone was very thankful.
The doctors requested she stay in the hospital for a week so they could observe her concussion and ribs in case any complications arose. You had stayed by her side the first 3 days. On the 4th day she was begging you to go home and get her some comfortable clothes. You had agreed and made your way to your shared apartment. You decided to check the mail while you were there and that's when you found the envelope.
When you showed back up to the hospital 2 full duffle bags and an uneasy expression she was immediately worried. She had asked you what was wrong in which you replied by pulling out the envelope and dumping it into her lap. Her stomach dropped and she gave you a look of sadness. “Baby girl, I promise you I can explain this okay? Just don’t get mad and hear me out okay?” She pleaded with you.
“I’m not angry sweetheart, I really have no idea what to think. I show up to the apartment and find a random envelope addressed to me from you.” You had said to her tears working themselves into your eyes and slowly down your cheeks as you started to chew on the inside of your cheek. You knew that whatever was in that envelope wasn't anything happy. She patted the spot on the bed next to her and gave you a pleading look. Making your way to the bed you carefully sat down next to her.
“I never intended for you to find this unless I was no longer here. I don’t want to worry you more than I already know you are. If it will help to ease some of your worries I will tell you everything I have in this envelope.” She said with tears entering her eyes. You nodded your head and so she continued. “There are 4 letters inside this envelope. One for you and the rest for Bradley, my parents and Bob's parents. There is also a USB drive with a video of me on it that’s for you. Bradleys letter consists of me begging him to look after you or I swear to haunt his idiot ass.” You let out a laugh at that one.
“The one to my parents is telling them how much they mean to me and that I am beyond sorry for not making it back. The one written to Bob’s family is me expressing my grief and apologizing for not bringing their son back to them. The final letter for you is me pouring my heart and soul out to you. Saying goodbye and telling you everything I love about you.” With that her hand had moved up to your cheek. Tears slowly making it down both of your faces.
“And what about the video?” You shakily asked her, looking in her eyes leaning your face against her hand. She took a shaky breath before replying.
“The video is of me telling you about the future I wish we could’ve had together. It’s me reading you your favorite book. It’s me laughing and crying and trying to convince you that I wanted to come back to you more than anything in this world but I for some reason wasn’t meant to. But that I loved you more than I loved anyone else and that you were definitely without a doubt the last thing I thought about as I took my last breath.” as she finished you had let out a sob. She quickly pulled you to her chest and rubbed your back trying to sooth you. After what felt like ages you pulled back.
“Please promise me that you will always try with everything in you to make it back to me. I never want to read my letter or watch that video. I don’t want to have to hand out the other letters. I just want to have you.” You pleaded with her. She quickly nodded her head and wiped the remaining tears from your eyes.
“I promise to always do everything in my power to make it back to you. I never want you to have to read that letter or watch that video. I don’t want you to have to hand off letters or live a day knowing I won’t be thinking about you every minute of every day.” The end of her sentence was met with a kiss. There was one thing in the envelope she hadn’t told you about. Which was the ring that she had had picked out for the last 3 months just waiting for the perfect time to ask the question it came with.
