Run for breakfast in Vienna 🇦🇹 Neni is the most delicious morning for me🙌 . Ну, его самого - тоже, конечно. Прекрасное место. Поражен обилием, если не совсем русских продавцов, то, по крайней мере, говорящих по-русски без акцента. Ну половина, как минимум!!! Через это эмоции сплошь позитивные)))

Oh Vienna

I can’t believe it’s been 7 months since we had our weekend trip to Vienna in April.  It’s been a busy time and I’ve been focusing so much on building my photography portfolio that my blog has been a little neglected apart from the odd sharing of a client shoot. 

I really wanted to share my photos of Vienna with you because it was visually such a stunning place.  We arrived late on the Friday night and stayed in a Novotel on the outskirts of Vienna, near to Prater Park.  Luckily, Steve has a friend who has lived in Vienna for a while so he was able to help us get from the airport to our hotel (neither of us speak the language and had no idea about the public transport).

The next morning, we met with Steve’s friends at the fair ground in Prater Park, which was ideal for the kids.  It was a lovely sunny day and whilst I didn’t go on any rides, I had so much fun photographing everyone. 

After a traditional Viennese lunch at one of the restaurants in the park we headed into the town centre and had a look round the magnificent St Stephen’s church, before wandering to another park to watch some impromptu salsa dancing in the spring sunshine.

On the Sunday, me and Steve had a morning to ourselves so we headed on the tube (the transport system in Vienna is the best! – one ticket for the weekend and no queues!) to Schonbrunn Palace.  I’d seen pictures of the Palmenhaus on Pinterest before our visit so I knew we could spend a couple of hours looking round.  Whilst Steve sat with his book, I took SO many photos of the palms and plants. 

In the afternoon, we headed to the Nashmarkts to wander round the empty market stalls (everything was closed on the Sunday but it was still lovely to see).  Then we met up with Steve’s friends again for a steak meal at a Blockhouse restaurant (me and Steve lived off Blockhouse steak in Hamburg so we were looking forward to it!)

I had a lovely time in Vienna and wish that we’d been able to see more of the city.  These are the places I would have loved to visit if we’d had more time:

Simply Raw Bakery - vegan and gluten free food in Vienna is difficult so I wish we’d planned ahead with a few more places we could eat. 

The Nashmarkt (Monday to Saturday) – I love a good flea market (the ones in Paris are the best!) and really wished we’d had time to visit the Nashmarkts when they were open for some souvenir shopping. 

The Leopold Museum – There are so many art galleries and museums in Vienna, if I had to choose one, I would have loved to visit the Leopold Museum for the largest collection of paintings by Egon Schiele.

Unfortunately I think Vienna has taken the top stop for my least favorite city I've been too... Yay? The market is the coolest part of the city. Lots of influences from everywhere else... Like what is Austria even known for?? Sorry if that's rude but... Anyway I had a great Baklava at the market and bought myself a really cute vintage clock! Some fruits I've never even seen before and the A BUCKET of sauerkraut, crazy right?! That's German though isn't it? They have a lot of Czech foods here as well for a lot more money... My hostel is in an "Asian" quarter of Vienna I guess near the Nashmarkt so I'm going to one of those places tonight for cheaper. Got street food yesterday! Vienna also has the worst Kebabs ever, haha. It's been fun to check out but I should have shorted my time in Vienna and added another day in Budapest I think... One checking out the castle tomorrow and then I'm off!

Grüß Gott wieder aus Wien. The sun was shining today as we explored Hofburg and learned more about Empress Elizabeth (Sisi) witnessing the silver, porcelain, crystal and apartments of the royal family and state. Enjoyed the Café culture of this beautiful city and climbed the bell tower of Domkirche St. Stephan wrapping up the day at Nashmarkt. This gem is the place to eat, explore and shop. This city continues to surprise and delight me. Time for more delicious Schnitzel for dinner.
