APPEARANCE:

Naoto is boy with average height, but the shortest male in the Project Sekai cast. His hair is fluffy and blonde with bright red streaks through it. He has bangs that split into three, with the two on the sides flaring out. Framing his face, two red streaks of hair split into two subtle strands. He also has a little tuff of blonde hair above his bands that’s unable to be combed down. On the left side of his head, his hair is tied up into a small ponytail which is also dyed red at the ends. Naoto’s hair is overall very fluffy and soft to the touch.

His face has a young look to it, with catty but big teal eyes. Naoto doesn’t have any special attributes when it comes to his complexion.

When wearing his club/SEKAI wear, Naoto ties up his hair with a blue streamer, the same as Via’s. Unlike the rest of the members, Naoto wears the Colorful Splash! varsity jacket around his waist, only wearing a cropped short sleeve white hoodie on top. Instead of the usual strings, however, there are two strings tied together in a very particular way, and finished off with two teal beads that match his eyes. Naoto wears simple greyish blue shorts with somewhat long socks with a teal line around the edges. He wears simple red sneakers to finish the look.

PERSONALITY:

Kamiyama High students don’t acknowledge Naoto very much compared to the other members. He’s not very special, in the sense that he’s just a typical high school student who’s not looking for anyone to talk to. He’s not very welcoming and doesn’t hesitate to be a little mean with his words to the average person, but he seems to have a separate personality reserved for Mirei. Him and Mirei, being best friends since… birth, pretty much, of course have a special connection between the two of them. Naoto already isn’t very talkative, but with Mirei, he seems to get even quieter, just nodding and going along. Nonetheless, students can tell that there’s blatant favoritism here, with the way Naoto holds back on harsh words with the girl. Due to this, many people get annoyed by Naoto’s behavior and steer clear of him out of spite.

Even still, there is a sort of soft edge to Naoto’s words, perhaps due to the fact of being a soft-hearted older brother. If you truly listen to his words, sometimes you can catch a small amount of kindness even through the blunt word choices. When paired in groups, he always makes sure to do his part, even if he isn’t one of the most cooperative or communicative people ever. This doesn’t mean that he lets people get close, though. There’s a clear line between Naoto and others that he doesn’t let them cross.

With Colorful Splash!, Naoto is still the grumpy one, being the only one in the group who doesn’t smile much. He interacts with them in a way that shows hesitation, like dipping your feet into a pool to test out the waters. Despite this, he still fights back and tries to pick on the members, seemingly enjoying the back and forths he holds with others, especially Ashi. Though, he’s the tsundere of the group, being easily flustered. Izumi and Via are typically the ones to trigger this side of him with their comments. Even if he doesn’t want it to be true, Naoto finds himself finding more moments to smile and have fun with Colorful Splash!

TRIVIA/DYNAMICS:

Naoto doesn’t have any specifications when it comes to his gender or sexuality, but it’s safe to say that he likes men. His pronouns are he/him.

Naoto and Mirei truly have been best friends since birth, and their relationship used to very fluffy and fun before recent years. Nowadays, Naoto struggles with expressing his true feelings around her, not having the heart to speak up.

Mirei is very bossy and doesn’t take no for an answer. As of recent, she’s very fussy and easily irritated. Despite this, Naoto still says he loves her, and feels bad for her.

Naoto has very strong feelings towards the concepts of “best friends”, “soulmates”, and things like that, but mainly BFFs. He often feels guilty for hanging out with people who aren’t his closest friend. This is a product of him and Mirei’s relationship and her reactions over the years.

He’s very conflicted over the concept of having a trio of best friends, or a friend group. Naoto doesn’t understand it other than the fact that, “no matter what, someone’s gonna be closer to someone than the other and that’s gonna make someone sad. plus, if it’s a trio, how would it work if you need to get into duos? someone’s gonna be left out, and no one’s gonna be happy. it’s impossible to be equally close to everybody.”

Naoto’s resolution to the above conflict is, “So you should just have one person who you’re devoted to, so that no one has to worry.”

Naoto joined Colorful Splash! on accident, in attempts to hide away from Mirei for a while. He ended up staying because of a “weird gut feeling”. The feeling was some sort of interest in Izumi due to his honest and kind nature, not that Naoto ever realizes.

Naoto is in class 1-B, which means he shares a class with Izumi, Touya, and Nene. Izumi is the only one that he speaks to, but he’s aware of Touya.

He’s been mistaken for Tsukasa at times. He takes great offense when this happens.

Naoto enjoys banter due to the fact that he’s unable to have it with Mirei. In a way, it’s a sign of affection for him.

Naoto banters with Izumi the least due to the fact that whenever he tries, Izumi is usually in the right. Because of that, it’s very hard to fight back. Though, when Izumi is rarely in the wrong, Naoto takes the chance to fight and knock some sense into him.

Most people refer to Naoto as simply Nao. The entirety of Colosplash! refers to him like this.

The teal beads on his hoodie strings in Naoto’s SEKAI outfit are a result of Izumi. Before their first performance, Izumi quickly added them on to “finish off the look”.

When Ashi first gave the group the varsity jackets for their first performance, Naoto immediately wrapped it around his waist. Ashi proceeded to complain about how her design wasn’t getting it’s full potential being worn like that, and Naoto found it amusing.

Out of Colorful Splash!, Naoto holds the least amount of knowledge about idols.

Naoto bakes in his free time, and often brings sweets for to Colorful Splash! during practices.

His mother runs a small baking stand whenever there’s a festival. Their iconic item is mochi.

Akito and Naoto actually have used to be close friends, but due to Mirei butting in, they’ve distanced a long way. Both of them are still aware of eachother, though, and think it’d be nice to catch up again one day.

Back when Naoto was younger, his mother would make sweets for him to bring to the Shinonomes. Their gifts often included cheesecake and pancake-like treats.

Naoto used to be very scared of Ena as a child. It still holds up to this day.

The red streaks in Naoto’s hair are dyed. Mirei has matching pink strands, after she saw Naoto dye his own.

Naoto has to keep his room neat and fix it up every week, not because of personal preference, but because his siblings often bunk on his bed and make things messy.

He owns several plushies, but is embarrassed to admit it. A story notable one is a bunny plushie that matches one Mirei has.

Naoto is very easily embarrassed with showing affection. But, he’s easy to read.

Naoto’s younger sister despises Mirei.

Naoto has a mom, dad, younger sister, and twin brother (who is one of my friend’s proseka OCs).

Naoto is the one Colorful Splash! member whose voice I do not have a clear vision of.

Look i get it man, you had your life all set and planned out and then suddenly the world came tumbling down and now everything is gone. That is terrifying, i can’t imagine the amount of pain you’ve been going through ever since, but you can’t hide under the “It’s harder than it sounds” mentality when it comes to healing because then you won’t get anywhere and i’m sure that’s not what Sarina or Haruhiko or any of your late family members would like to see

It’s great that you're actually going out and doing things but the first step to moving on is allowing yourself to form new bonds with others. Mai seems to genuinely like you and sees you as a friend but it feels like you barely see her anything other than someone from work, and you have Setsuka willing to hear you out now and i’m sure you could find comfort in a lot of other people from the foundation if you allowed yourself to be around them instead of staying in this autopilot forever. There are people here who care about you, you just need to open the door to let them in
