i love both romantic Naoreko and queerplatonic Naoshin cause it gives Nao the opportunity to go "eeeek, this is my girlfriend, Reko, isn't she just the coolest ever??? we met at her band's meet and greet and i can't believe she wanted to stay in touch!! she's so, so, so kind and talented and strong and brave and protective- oh, that one? i found Shin having a breakdown outside the shop he works at one day because a customer was mean to him and thought he was kinda cute and wanted to be friends, ehe!!"

and then while Shin and Reko both love Nao, they are firm frenemies to each other. they argue non-stop every time they see each other- however!! Reko would beat up anyone who bullies Shin and he anonymously doxxes anyone who hates on her music online. neither know the other does this, Nao does though

also the three of them could totally make an RPG Maker game together. Shin programming, Nao doing the art, Reko the music

I like how it’s Nao who starts to trust Shin first.

She’s not someone to judge by surface-level appearance or behavior, as we see by her friendship with Mishima. Even when everyone else in the death game thinks he looks and acts odd, she stands by him because she sees his heart.

She can see through Shin as well. While he has done plenty of bad things, it’s inarguable that he’s trying to help everyone escape in this scene, a fact Nao can see clearly despite being wary of him.

I think it’s an important note on her character how she can see his real intent and put aside her grievances to work with him. She even stands firm on her choice when Sara doubts it instead of second-guessing herself.

Anyway this is a large moment of characterization for Nao and I love it a lot. Also this is a public service announcement that Shin and Nao are an underrated duo and it’s sweet how she makes an effort to call him “Sou” instead of “the loner”.
