You and Samon have known each other for a long time; since you were young, nearing your teens

Starting as friends, the two of you ended up choosing each other as adoptive siblings

Even though you grew apart as you grew into your adulthood years, you never stopped thinking about and writing to each other

Then one day, you land a job at Nanba as a Building 5 guard

You're absolutely floored when you meet your supervisor-- it's Samon, and the two of you are speechless

After the initial shock wears off, you're both hugging each other and babbling nonsense about how much you missed one another and how happy you are to see each other

You both make promises to make up for lost time and stating that the two of you need to get together every now and then on your off days

The sibling adoration doesn't stop for one moment even on the job, not by a long shot. Isn't afraid to dote on you whenever he can at work

Every time you walk past Samon, you greet each other and stop to chat for a moment

Samon noogies you every time and you don't know whether you love or hate it

Samon is very protective of you-- if he hears you're in trouble, you damn well better know he's bolting across the prison at mach speed to get to you

Also isn't afraid to pummel an aggressive inmate to put them in their place if they threaten or do pose a threat to you

Couldn't care less if any of his other guards or even inmates stare at you two while you chat and laugh together

Always seeks you out at mealtimes so you can eat together and converse on how your days are going

Whenever he can- and when your break times line up- he'll hang out with you and maybe play Mahjong

If you get hurt by anyone, he'll be like a heat seeking missile out for blood. No one harms his sibling and gets away with it!!

Whether or not the aggressor gets hospitalized is really dependent on whether you egg him on to "avenge you" up or plead him not to

These two, Reader and Monkey, has closed bonds since their were little, that they understand and learning what they know each other, like climbing or understanding each others language, etc.

This monkey known for being mischievious/prankster to others and being protective & aggressive at men, who're trying to court/flirt/pervy towards Reader.

🈯  It would seem that poor Inori gets the brunt of Abu's fury, the boar-like man having a small crush on the handsome new inmate much to the little monkey's chagrin. Abu put the poor guard through the ringer; stealing his hat and armband, hiding his keys from him, and throwing random objects at his head. This poor man has been reprimanded by Samon so many times now it's not even funny. Yeah, let's just say that Inori steered clear of [Name]'s cell for quite a while after that, it just wasn't worth it in his opinion. Surprisingly, the other guards had a much easier time with the little monkey; so long as they didn't linger in front of the cell for too long Abu didn't have any issues with them.

🈯  Something interesting that the monkey-like man has noticed in his time spent observing [Name], as he does with every new inmate or guard, is how he and Abu seem to be able to understand each other without issues despite the language barrier. Although, he's pretty sure that that damn monkey is secretly talking shit about him; it's making him feel insecure, okay? He also noticed how Abu seemed to act almost as an extension of [Name]; the two worked together seamlessly, perfectly in synch. [Name] could be in the cafeteria and as he goes up to get his meal, Abu would simultaneously grab him a drink, always being rewarded for his thoughtful actions.

🈯  Samon does not like Abu in the slightest; there's only room for one monkey in Nanba and that's him! Abu also has a mutual dislike for Samon, but this is mostly because the building supervisor keeps separating him from [Name] during training and the scowls he receives from the green-eyed man. Samon also has a sneaking suspicion that Abu is responsible for the fact that he keeps finding random items strewn around on the floor in front of [Name]'s cell; he even asks the inmate about it but [Name] only shrugs. The supervisor can always feel the little monkey's taunting stares whenever he passes by the cell, like the little monkey is trying to provoke him.

🈯  [Name] and Abu often end up skipping daily training and Samon is pulling his hair out in distress, just train for a little bit, it's not that bad! Usually, the supervisor finds the two inmates lounging in a tree or swinging and hanging from the branches; although he often gets a stick to the head courtesy of Abu whenever [Name] looks away. Samon just can't win with those two, no matter how many times he drags them back to the field, they disappear up a different tree just seconds later. That is the reason he separates the two during training; so that [Name] can focus on the task at hand while Inori is (bullied by) watching Abu. 

🈯  The inmates from the cell just across from [Name] and Abu's, cell 8, don't mind their new neighbors too much, mostly focusing on their own thing. However, they sometimes get pretty annoyed at how loud Abu can be and at how they skip out on training to just laze around, but the last one is just annoying to Liang.

Notes:

You were a recently appointed therapist.

Since you had to look over some inmates and guards one on one you got to learn how to use Qigong from the best of the best. Building 5.

You got along with one guard in particular, Samon

He taught you more about close combat and how to block out Qi channeling.

That way if an inmate gets to aggressive, you can paralyze them.

Basically you're like Ty Lee from ATLA.

Somethings wrong... You can feel it. It's coming from building 5. However, you ignore it, thinking that it was just some inmates. That is... until you get too close to a certain guard.

{Second POV}

You were heading to building 5 because of a supposed urgent process that needed to take place. The train stopped and you got off, taking a deep breath as you walked towards the Chinese setting. 'No matter how many times I walk through here it still smells like lotus flowers.' You thought optimistically as you saw a familiar fabulous teal haired queer Queen.

"Ruka! Good afternoon!" You called. Ruka turned around happily and squealed, rushing over to you and wrapped his arms around you. "[Y/n], dearie~ So glad you came. Ugh, that inmate was about to become absolutely insufferable..." You chuckled and pat his shoulder, telling him that you were here to help. He thanked you profusely and then told you that the inmate was in a lover level cell because of protocol. You understood and started to make your way to the cell.

But that's when you noticed... an extremely tall male.

[REALLY THO- HOW THE FUCK IS ENKI THAT TALL????]

You've never seen him before. However, he was wearing a guard uniform and he had a belt quite similar to Samon. 'Oh wait! Samon said he had an older brother. Perhaps that's him.' You thought and kept walking, eager to become acquaintances with another college.

You waved your hand and was about to greet him when all of a sudden he grabbed you by your coat and slammed you against the wall with incredible speed. You gasped for air and coughed. "Whoa are you?" He demanded as he glared at you.

He lifted you up. Since you were much smaller than him, you were suspended in the air. Because of the impact you felt blood in your mouth. Not wanting to cough it out, you swallowed hard. You tried to speak but no words came out. Thankfully though, someone came to your aid. "HEY! LET HER GO! SHE'S THE NEW THERAPIST THAT IS CHECKING UP ON THAT INMATE!" You couldn't see him but you knew it was Samon's voice.

The taller male let you go and finally you coughed some blood out as you held your throat. Samon raced over to you. "[Y/n]! Are you alright? I'm sorry about Enki." You just nodded and looked up to see Enki's gaze now looking nonchalant. "I'm... fine. Just a little banged up. But overall I'm good." Samon pouted. " Do you need Doctor Otogi?"

You shook your head again, telling Samon repeatedly that you were okay. But Samon refused to believe that you were okay. Since you two were good friends, Samon asked for Enki to apologize to you. You tried to tell him that it was fine but Enki did apologize to you.

You felt embarrassed about that so you just smiled and told Enki how it was no big deal. After that, Samon pat your shoulder happily and told you to visit the doctor if anything started to hurt before leaving.

After that it was just you and Enki. The taller male just stared down at you and you felt like you were in the presence of the warden all over again. "So you're a therapist?" He asked. You quickly nodded. Enki just hummed to himself before he started to walk off.

You just let out a deep breath. 'Scary!' You thought and just made your way to the inmate's cell to do the job you're paid to do.

{Ruka's POV}

"So~ How'd it go?" I asked and chuckled, using my Bashosen to cover my mouth. "... Awful... I tried to do as you say, pin her to the wall. But I slammed her head into the wall instead." I sweatdropped and sighed deeply as I saw Enki glaring at the wall. But immediately after, he smiled lovingly. "She's so tiny. I could do whatever I want with her with only one hand." I grit my teeth and just nodded along. 'What perverse thoughts.' I thought as I narrowed my eyes at Enki's lovestruck gaze.

'How in the hell did I get into this situation again..?'

"Shut up. Either help me win her over from my brother or I'll snap your neck right here an now. After all, you're one of her admirers too aren't you?"

'Right... that's how...' I sighed and fixed my hair and my cap before I proposed another plan. "Fine. Let's start off easier. Just ask her that you want to schedule a therapy meeting but instead, take that moment to apologize for hurting her. You could ever get her a gift or a snack." Enki then smirked and I flinched. It was the same look he gave me after almost murdering me after all.

"Perfect." His smirk grew wider and I just nodded. "Keep the grin down. You look like you're about to murder someone again... Also, don't. I've already covered up the first one. We don't need a second one." Enki stood straight up and fixed his guard coat. "That inmate deserved it. Talking about what's mine in such a way." Enki then went back to glaring at the wall and I facepalmed.

“...oi, (y/n), wake up.” samon felt like he was being challenged. he doesn’t know by who; God, maybe? if there was a higher power, it was definitely testing him right now. 

the only reason he had ventured over into your building was because he’d wanted to show you the stars. the sky was particularly clear that night, and ever since you were children, you had always loved to see the stars. in fact, it was one of the reasons that despite working in a prison in the middle of nowhere, you enjoyed your job. 

however, when he’d walked into your small office, you were fast asleep on top of a rather tall stack of papers, completely knocked out. the sight hadn’t surprised him, since it was not an unknown fact that you always tended to slack off when it came to paperwork, (he hadn’t realized it had gotten this bad, but he supposes that it makes sense). 

he’d gone to go wake you up and tell you, let’s take a break and go look at the stars for a bit, but when he’d gotten closer, he’d heard something that he was most definitely not supposed to hear. 

“samon…” you had mumbled, freezing him in his tracks. 

now, what was he supposed to do? 

hearing you utter his name in such a way had gripped his heart in a certain way, and now he wasn’t sure what the hell he was supposed to do next. ignore it and walk away? wake you up and confront you? ignore it and wake you up anyway? 

“gah!” 

“GAH!” 

it seemed the choice had been made for him. 

“samon?! what’re you doing here?! why were you just standing there? you scared the hell out of me…” you exclaimed, clutching your chest to slow down your heart. 

“i just came to tell you the sky looks good right now. and i was standing there ‘cause i was about to wake you up…” he’d decided to take the cool and casual route at the moment, even though you’d caught him extremely off guard. “the clouds are all gone so i figured you would want to see it.” 

“oh, that actually all checks out. i was gonna call you a freak ‘cause you were watching me sleep, haha.” you laughed, standing up from your chair and stretching. “there’s no way i’m gonna be able to submit all this paperwork to warden hyakushiki by tomorrow, so i might as well! let’s go!” as you looped your arm around samon’s and started walking to the balcony, his thoughts began to go wild. 

he’d never really spent too much time thinking about his feelings, especially towards you; he was always focusing on his work and his prisoners. although they were still prisoners and he was still a guard, he’d grown fond of them, (though he would never admit this out loud to them) and helped them with things they brought to him. his little rivalry with hajime was also included with work, and because of this diligence, he never really allowed himself to even think of something aside from it. 

with you though, he found himself thinking less about work and more about normal things. normal things that a twenty-year old might think about, like having a girlfriend and doing things he enjoyed with her. he could teach her all about how to garden and the different kinds of plants and what you can do with them, and he could even train with her. 

except, in these fantasies, it wasn’t a random woman. it was you. 

and that was something that made him a little bit scared. 

now, samon gokuu is not a man to get scared and run away easily, and though he wasn’t running away from you, he was definitely a little scared. not because you’re scary, (at all) but wholly because it was something strange and unknown, and he had no clue what indulging his feelings would be like. he supposes it wouldn’t be bad though. being with you. 

your arm untangled from his as you two reached the balcony, the cool air of the night feeling refreshing. you walked up to the railing, leaning against it as you stared at the stars. 

“ahh, you were right; it’s so beautiful tonight.” you said, a warm smile on your face as you looked back at him. the slight breeze in the night lifted your hair a bit, framing your face damn near perfectly. 

you were beautiful. 

“yeah, um…it really is.” he managed to get out, feeling a little bit too entranced by you. his supposed best friend. he almost felt guilty for whatever he was feeling, but at the same time, he wants to be able to imagine having a future with you. 

as he joined you at the railing, you scooted a little closer to him, beaming up at him with such a joyful expression that it squeezed his heart just a bit, (it really just skipped a beat, he just didn’t want to say it). 

he keeps a small hope in his heart that one day, maybe, these same stars would look down on you and him as lovers. for now though? he’s content just being by your side.

Samon had just finished his shift and was on the train back towards the apartments. He was tired, all he wanted to do was collapse onto his sofa. As he walked through the door of his apartment he could smell food. He made his way through the apartment into the kitchen and saw the food being plated up. He smiled as he watched the h/c haired women place the plates on the table before turning around and jumping slightly at him standing there. They smiled at each other before she jumped over to him and into his arms.

"Welcome home monkey." Samon hugged her back and shook his head when she called him that.

"I'm home y/n." He replied as he pulled back slightly to kiss her.

They soon let each other go to sit down and have dinner. They had a pleasant talk about their day before they washed the dishes and made their way over to the sofa. Samon sat down and then held his arms out towards y/n. She smiled before climbing into his lap and pushing her face into his chest and she made herself comfortable. Samon looked down at her and a smile began to form on his face.

"You comfy there?" He asked her ask he hugged her close.

"Yes," she said as she cuddled him. "I'm happy you are back."

Samon broke out into a soft smile and kissed her head as they sat there in each other's arms.

Gremlin. That‘s what Samon calls that little bundle of chaos, or in other words; his boyfriend. First, it seemed like a rather harsh petname to give your lover, but all of building 5 learned to respect, accept or agree with that decision soon enough.

(Y/N)‘s mood was so unpredictable, but so incredibly predictable at the same time. Or rather, Samon forgets how easy he could tell what he was up to all the time.

„I wonder where (Y/N) is. Lunch break is already over.“ Oh right. He falls asleep in the spot after every meal without a care in the world.

„(Y/N), what are you-“ Ugh. Of course he dashes out to accompany the inmates to the gaming room.

„I‘m sorry, I can‘t fight you today. (Y/N) should be fre-“ „Ooooooh Li wants to fight!?“ „Where the hell did you come from?“

Nothing worth worrying or pondering about, actually. Though, it can suck quite a bit of energy from the supervisor, only just a bit. What really makes him a little gremlin is something else. In a moment of weakness - or rather, as (Y/N) was snacking on a peach bun - Liang and Upa were fighting two vs. one against Samon. A special occasion, I might add. Neither of the inmates seemed to be in the mood for cooperation that day. So one thing lead to another and…As Liang aimed a kick to Samon‘s stomach from one side, and Upa was charging his own attack from the other, Samon waited for the perfect moment to jump backwards, leading the two of them to collide.

The kick ended up flinging Upa away, and outside the training grounds. Crashing right into (Y/N), sending them both to the rocky ground. The peach bun now in the shape of a pancake, spread all over (Y/N)‘s guard uniform.

As soon as Upa realized what had happend, he stood up and apologized for crashing into him, before turning around to his cellmate, „Hey Liang, watch your foot, damnit!“ The poor boy didn‘t even notice the guard standing menacingly behind him, not until he felt his hand grab the back of his neck. „I‘ll make you pay.“

„(Y/N). It was an accident.“, Samon walked up to them, beads of sweat rolling down his temple, „I‘ll get you a new bun, and a clean uniform.“

„This is not about that!“, (Y/N) spat back, face unreadable, eyes burning holes into the back of Upa‘s head. „Then what is…“, too late.

Laughter. (Y/N)‘s laughter drumming through the area, letting go of the poor inmate, „Just kidding. Hehehehehe.“

„DAMNIT, YOU LITTLE GREMLIN!“

Samon didn‘t know if he was more mad about falling for it yet again, or the fact (Y/N) dared to do it yet again.

Child-like

Narrowing his eyes, (Y/N) stared at the plate of food infront of him. It was like he was trying to eradicate it with his fuming glare. His fellow inmates held a considerably large distance between them and him, fearing the aura that was slowly starting to seep through and out of his body. „What‘s wrong, (Y/N)?“, Liang sat down across from the male, next to Upa who was already sighing, „Is that even a question at this point?“, the Qigong master deadpanned.

„They forgot the flag.“, (Y/N)‘s tone was far too serious for the scenario that was going down, at least for those around him. To him, the missing flag on his burger could as well be a declaration of war. How dare they?

„I wonder if they enjoy this.“, Qi muttered to himself, joining the group at the table with his own tray in hand. It happened to be loud enough for his boyfriend to hear, however, judging by that loud scoff that was followed by a pout. Chuckling to himself, Qi placed down his tray and moved to solve this growing dilemma before it could actually become a problem. He stuck a little flag ontop of (Y/N)‘s burger, „You know, I still don‘t get why you get so worked up over this.“

As if worked with magic, the thick blanket of anger disappeared and made space for sparkles of childish joy to float in the air around the young man. You could hear the entirety of the cafeteria sigh in unision, not including Qi. He settled for a head-shake, lips adorned with a fond smile. „Heh, you‘re welcome.“, he chuckled out at how (Y/N) gulped down his flag-adorned burger, despite not being thanked for his service at all. It‘s fine though. Seeing that bright smile and hearing that cute little giggle was enough.

Besides, he was looking forward to the nap together after lunch.

-You admired the hard work he put into his building, you also admired his kind heart, willing to let several of the inmates train alongside him.

-You were like the mother of Building 5, to the inmates of cell 8 and Samon to be specific, as you were the one to encourage them to take breaks while they were training, preparing tea and snacks for them.

-Qi adored you, wanting to constantly flirt with you, something Qi and Liang wouldn’t allow, as they both respected you, you treated them like normal people, not as criminals, something they appreciated.

Chapter 1

You were a recently appointed therapist.

Since you had to look over some inmates and guards one on one you got to learn how to use Qigong from the best of the best. Building 5.

You got along with one guard in particular, Samon

He taught you more about close combat and how to block out Qi channeling.

That way if an inmate gets to aggressive, you can paralyze them.

Basically you're like Ty Lee from ATLA.

Somethings wrong... You can feel it. It's coming from building 5. However, you ignore it, thinking that it was just some inmates. That is... until you get too close to a certain guard

Ever since that moment back in building 5. You kept getting called over there by other inmates. They all talked about encountering a monster. You were confused, and per your job, you asked them about it. All the inmates described it as a big, ape like shadow, extremely strong and agile, threatening, and possessive. You asked what the inmates said by "threatening and possessive"

They didn't give you a response...

On the bright side. The guard that practically pounded you to the wall apologized. And even bought you your favorite snack and drink. Enki looked like he was having trouble apologizing so you assumed that he was apologizing and accepted it.

In reality he just wanted you to stop talking to the damn inmates. Ever since that, you Enki, and Samon would always talk about different stuff when you head over to building 5. Everything was really good between you three.

But for Enki... it was a different story. Every time you visited inmates, Enki would visit straight after and threaten the inmates. All the inmates were terrified. Soon after, the rumors about the 'Monster' circled through the prison.

What made it hard for Enki was that you and the warden knew about it. He was absolutely pissed and vowed to destroy the inmate who came up with that nickname. If you found out the monster was him then there would be no doubt that you would be terrified of him. So he started to do that one thing he could to keep you safe.

Total manipulation.

He started using your own profession against you. Making you overthink into the wrong stuff and eventually you started convincing the other inmates that the so called 'Monster' was most likely just a hallucination because of what a certain inmate had done in the past. The words of a 'Monster' died out and the warden was so proud that she gave you access to more areas. Which just so happened to include the underground layers and archives in each building.

Enki was also proud. He treated you to a dinner and to say you were shocked was an understatement. Hell you ever felt a spark of pride when Enki started praising you. But you didn't want to act on those emotions. Enki instantly realized it and grit his teeth as he realized that the plans that Ruka had instructed him to act on weren't working.

You and Enki got closer and closer. But with each passing moment, the inmates grew restless and more... lifeless. You were worried and would inform Enki and Samon about it. Same said he'd take a look and Enki would pat your head and tell you not to worry about it.

And you trusted Enki so surely things would be fine.

✗ first of all, samon will be super protective of you whenever he can sense that hajime is near, (i really do think he has an internal hajime sensor).

✗ it really doesn’t take a lot to get hajime and samon to start fighting, so if samon even catches hajime glancing at you, he will completely go off on him.

✗ “you ugly gorilla, don't even dare put. your eyes on something so beautiful!!”

✗ he’ll share his popsicles with you, especially if it’s hot out and you guys are sweating like crazy in your uniforms.

✗ hajime will try to not associate with you at all, and this is entirely because he does not want to deal with samon. there will be times that you two will have to work together, (probably supervising inmates) and samon will literally be livid, but he will just barely hold it together because it’s an order from the warden, so it has to be done.

✗ when you guys are doing late paperwork in the office, he’ll take a few minutes to just watch you as you work. he thinks you’re really cute when you’re focusing on something, and with all your habits that you have.

✗ he’s the type of person to dedicate his everything to his s/o, even if he knows deep-down that they would neve do the same for him, so please don’t hurt him.

✗ sleeping on his shoulder on the monorail when you’re on the way to another building or leaving work is definitely a common occurrence. nanba is a lot bigger than a lot of people realize, so the monorail ride will usually take anywhere from half an hour to an hour and a half.

✗ samon is overall a pretty cliche sort of romantic guy. he’ll get you your favorite flowers if you guys are going on a nice date, and he’ll clean up pretty nice. definitely the type of guy to set up a candlelight dinner for you, along with your favorite foods, (even if your favorite food is mac and cheese, he will find a way to make it look nice).

✗ he doesn’t really like to mention it, but he will be doing a lot of small things that he thinks will make your day better, even though he has a very busy schedule himself. he’ll do things like make your coffee in the morning, file your paperwork for you, do your laundry if you’re busy, and he’ll make you food and give it to you throughout the day because he wants to make sure that you’re doing alright and that you’re taking care of yourself.

✗ samon will definitely tell you a lot of stories from when he grew up in the mountains with enki and noriko, like how enki would train him and how he was so excited to get stronger, and how noriko would make the most amazing food out of what seemed to be nothing. you can tell by the way he looks when he’s talking about it that his childhood holds a lot of fond memories for him.

"AND WHAT IF THEY DON'T!!?" She sobbed, terrified of the cockroaches.

"AND UTTER MORTIFICATION!!" She snapped back.
