Random Nanbaka Headcanons/Concept
Momoko and Mitsuru are step-siblings but they were so young when their parents got together, they cant remember a time when they weren’t brother and sister.
Mitsuru loves that they’re the same age because that means he can mess with people. If someone askes if their twins, he’ll immediately answer yes and if they ask stupid questions, he’ll bullshit them with ridiculous answers.
“Why yes. We do have a psychic link. I always know what she’s thinking. I can even feel whatever he’s feeling, which can be awkward if she’s dating.” Meanwhile, Momoko is like, “WE’RE NOT EVEN BIOLOGICALLY RELATED! AND DON’T BE GROSS!”
Momoko has banned him from mentioning their relation while at work so he doesn’t say shit like this to her colleagues.
They only have an age gap of five months but those make a huge difference to them, especially in Momoko’s eyes. Momoko is the wise older sister. While Mitsuru is the annoying little brother.
Mitsuru is genuinely surprised so many people are afraid of his sister. Yes she’s powerful, and she could kick any of their asses to the next dimension if she wanted to, but she’s a big softy and before coming to work at Nanba, he thought that was obvious.
They don’t go out of their way to see each other since they already work together and see each other every day, but they do try to meet up outside of work at least once a week and they always meet up for holidays.
Momoko wishes she could be more like Mitsuru in the sense of getting to know the inmates. He talks nonstop about his favourites, especially the building 13 squad and Qi, Upa and Liang, and she thinks it’s good he has an actual relationship with them. She wishes she could do the same but Namba has thousands of inmates. She couldn’t possibly get to know them all and she doesn’t want to put any of them above all the others when they’re all her responsibility. The furthest she will go to reach out to an inmate is to take care of them by doing her job. Making sure they’re treated fairly, making sure they all have access to rehabilitation programmes, considering each and every appeal, the list goes on. But she’s strictly disciplined herself to resist getting to know any of them personally.
Mitsuru genuinely believes Nanba could be a hellhole if someone like his big sister didn’t run it. The place could easily be like Alcatraz but Momoko doesn’t want it to just be a place where people are locked away. She wants it to be a prision where people pay for their crimes but she also wants it to be a place that could help better what got them there, gives them whatever help they need and teaches them how to live honest and well so they can re-join society. Mitsuru has always been proud she has the kindness and the empathy to want do that and the ability to make it happen. Her level head and keeps everything together and her judgment helps her choose the right people to provide her inmates with all she the things she wants to give. He’ll always be proud to work for Nanba as long as she’s in charge.

2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 18!!!!!
2- What’s your general relationship? Supportive? Goofy? Go around gossiping about people you hate?: Mostly supportive! Since we both kind of have the same “apathetic“ sorta depressive feels, we support each other!
4- How did you meet, and when?: I’ve always had an interest in visiting a prision and once I went to Nanba and of course he was trying to escape and well the rest is history
6- What kinds of presents do you get them?: Mostly puzzles and other encrypted related stuff that I know keeps him occupied and happy
8-What was your first impression?: We instantly hit off, mostly when Uno talked more about him and explained his past and all, I knew we’d get along
9- What’s their dynamic with your romantic f/o, if it applies?: Maki and Kid are actually happy I found someone I can relate and talk about thinks only he understands
12- Are they the kind who borrows your stuff and forget to give it back?: Not really, usually when he borrows my things I usually just let them keep them if it makes him happy
18- How do they act when YOU insult you?: Well, that usually happens a lot but again, we sorta have the same feelings so he understands what I say and feel but neverthless he’s always there to comfort me, even if not with words but with cuddles and other actions!
Thank you so much for asking!!

Greetings and welcome back to Fantasy Friday! As you saw last week, I’m trying to revive this series and have a bit more fun with it. So I figured, what better way than to kick it off with one of the more crazier pieces of architecture that I’ve seen so far, and that comes from the anime Nanbaka.
If you have no idea what Nanbaka is:
Four men are assigned to Nanba, the world’s most formidable prison. Jyugo, a man who attempted to break out of prison and ended up extending his jail time; Uno, a man who likes to gamble with women; Rock, a man who likes to get into fights; and Nico, a man who likes anime. A super exciting action comedy about the daily lives of the prison’s inmates and guards
-Crunchyroll
The name of this prison that houses all the inmates is Nanba Prision, and it’s located off the coast of Japan. It’s supposed to rival the security of Alcatraz. The prison is highly rated due to it’s security as it’s virtually inescapable (except for one person).
There are 13 buildings that create this massive complex, and there was actually an episode that helped lay that out. It’s also relatively big enough that it has it’s own tram system to get prison guards around easily. Needless to say, the Japanese temple motif is used quite heavily in all the the architecture represented in this particular anime. I couldn’t extract any particular reason for them to rely so heavily on using this style except to poke fun at the traditional architecture by using all kinds of crazy colors and also exaggerating the size and details or ornamentation on each of them.
Images of the interior are few and far in between, but I was able to snag a few screenshots of the warden’s office, hidden interior garden, and their coliseum.
Nanbaka is full of color: whether it be in their architecture or in their character design. It’s just got such wildly exaggerated aesthetics that I can’t help but love what an absolute mess it is.
Hope you guys enjoyed the revival post of the series! What do you think of the architecture of Nanbaka? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! 🙂
The Wild Architecture of Nanbaka Greetings and welcome back to Fantasy Friday! As you saw last week, I'm trying to revive this series and have a bit more fun with it.
