Not Quite Dead Yet (2020)
A really funny comedy starring Hirose Suzu & Yoshizawa Ryo who didn't get their happy ending in Natsuzora - but they do here!
Suzu plays Nanase, the daughter of the CEO of a pharmaceutical company, a genius death metal band leader, and Ryo plays Taku, her father's assistant, a guy with no presence whom everyone overlooks. When the CEO is targeted and set out to die in two days, these two have to band up together to save the day. Hilarity ensues, of course.
Gosh, I loved them two's hijinks! I honestly love it when Ryo plays nerds, he's always absolutely fantastic, and this part was no different. His "Ghost" - as everyone called him for his tendency to just fade into the background - is smart but very nerdy and timid while the heroine is also smart but very bulldozer like and rash and brash. It's water on my mill, honestly!
Also, the most hilarious plot point? When the heroine's father, the "dead" CEO, is revived... by TAKU's kiss, I kid you not!
Why? Because they needed to kick start him with a shock and Taku was famous for his static electricity discharges that were so strong that when Taku and Nanase wanted to touch - or kiss - one of them had to stand with one bare foot on the ground to, well, ground them. This was so funny! Honestly, Ryo and his man-kissing. Is he actually aiming for some record?
Also, there are some really funny cameos, like by Satoh Takeru or Shison Jun or Matsuda Shota!
Rating: 8/10

Music Shuffle Tag 🎤 🎶
Task: It’s easy! Put your music library on shuffle and list the first ten songs. Give a few personal liner notes, if you’re inclined.
Thanks for the tag @otonymous!! I am always ready to share songs I listen to, haha! 😆 Your post with Faye Wong made me jump back to some of my fav Chinese singers, too, haha!
I don’t have a single playlist with all the songs I listen to as I tend to rotate between artists/themes, so if I did a shuffle of my current playlist it would be 10 songs from the same artist LOL. So I’ll just pick one shuffled song from the last 10 playlists I’ve listened to, haha!
Also, a note about my musical preferences: I like to listen to the radio in the car, but when I’m at home I almost exclusively listen to Japanese or Chinese songs, or else instrumental soundtracks. Sooooo, that’s why my playlists turn out like this, haha! Sorry if no one recognizes anything, but if you’re interested in Japanese or Chinese music, definitely check out these awesome singers/songs!
1. “時代巨輪” by 陳奕迅 (Eason Chan) Okay, Eason Chan is a king and one of my all time favourite singers hands down in any language, but especially in Chinese. I was so stoked when this song popped up as my shuffled selection since this is also one of my favourite songs from him.
2. "知足" by 五月天 (Mayday) 五月天 (known as Mayday in English) is one of my favourite bands/artists of all time and my favourite Chinese language artist!! Their songs always just hit me so hard, whether it's just the melody or their lyrics (which are often nostalgic and heartbreaking, as is this song, haha). Attending one of their concerts was one of the highlights of my liiiiife!
3. "Roundabout" by Soshi Kagurazaka, Ren Munakata and Nozomu Nanase (CVs: Makoto Furukawa, Taishi Murata and Chiharu Sawashiro) I love Tsukipro's SOARA group so much, and this is such a fun and catchy song. Definitely one of my favourite songs from this group (and seriously, Makonyan really kills it in this song).
4. "modern strange cowboy" by GRANRODEO If I had to pick one Japanese artist as my favourite, it would be GRANRODEO. Their lead singer, KISHOW, is one of my favourite seiyuu and just one of my favourite singing voices ever?? He is such an insanely skilled singer and I could listen to him all day, every day for the rest of my life, haha!
5. "Harsh Wind" by OLDCODEX Another of my favourite bands. This song is off of their Fixed Engine album, which has a lot of special memories for me since I bought the album when I had a chance to attend one of their concerts. I still cry that I got to see them perform live T_T.
6. "Fiction" by sumika I looooove this soooong! It's the theme song from one of my favourite anime/manga: Wotakoi! It just makes me smile and puts me in a good mood!
7. "君は僕に似ている" by See-Saw I'm a huge Gundam fan and I found a Gundam openings/endings playlist on Spotify and so this was the song that randomly shuffled! This is one of the ending themes for SEED Destiny (which I haven't actually watched yet). I do really like this song though, I've always liked the ethereal quality that See-Saw has!
8. "Break it down" by KiLLER KiNG (CVs: Takuya Eguchi, Koutarou Nishyama, Taku Yashiro and Shoya Chiba) I haven't actually played the game/watched B-Project, but I seriously find all of the B-Project songs to be such a bop. I especially like the KiLLER KiNG group and their songs are so catchy!!
9. "男子タルモノ!~MATSURI~" by Yamato Nikaido, Mizuki Izumi, Nagi Rokuya and Gaku Yaotome (CVs: Yuusuke Shirai, Tsubasa Yonaga, Takuya Eguchi and Wataru Hatano) I'm a huge IDOLiSH7 fan if no one knew, haha. This song is one of my favourites because it's just SO freaking fun and I just want to jump up and dance whenever this plays. It never fails to cheer me up (like how can you not when the lyrics literally tell you "Be Happy! Be Happy!", ahhhhhh).
10. "Wonderland A Go Go!" by Masumi Usui and Itaru Chigasaki (CVs: Yuusuke Shirai and Shintarou Asanuma) Okay, seriously Masayoshi Oishi is a genius and I adore the songs that he composes/writes. This is definitely one of his A3! songs that I had on loop for a long time, haha! It's so catchy and cute, I love iiiit (also I am hecka biased for Asashin and Shiraimu's singing, but that's a different story).
Tagging (but only if you want to play, no pressure!): @seasidefallenangel @animaniachan @currywaifu @the-currian @saku-yaa @moonsumi @himawa-ri @taruchinator @maidstars @ary-se @mankai-fuckhouse

Last November I was able to appear in the stage play “Ware ga Yakara wa Tanuki de aru.” I was able to leap out of the frame of Team 8 in order to work only by myself alongside the other actors and gained experience from this responsibility. This was my first stage play, so it was like opening a door to a new world for me. During the month and a half of rehearsals, my co-stars taught me all of the basics. Because of this, I was able to go through the performance with no mistakes. Until now I’ve only be interested in being an idol, but this experience has made me want to look at different worlds as well.
From October of last year, I’ve been a regular on “AKB48 Team 8’s Kanto Hakusho” on Chiba TV, which has also helped me to grow. Taku Suzuki-san of Drunk Dragon did the MC with me, and I was able to learn many things from a pro. Well for starters, I can’t really read kanji very well, so even before the MC work there were problems (lol). From spring I also will be a kennin member with Team B. Before that, I have been an under for Team B’s theater stages, so I’m relieved that I’m part of a team with senpais that I’ve gotten along well with. But I will never be able to forget the love I have for Eight. I want to take what I learn from my senpais and return it to Eight. At the same time, I want to establish myself as a member of AKB48.

My Review of Piacevole: My Italian Cooking
High-schooler Morina Nanase has begun working as a part-timer in an Italian restaurant, Trattoria Festa. As she encounters various quirky co-workers, such as their manager, a drunken hostess, the child prodigy chef Maro Kitahara, and so many unique cuisines, she begins to grow into her role as waitress. BETWEEN THE SUB AND SOON TO BE DUB: I honestly don’t expect this anime to be picked up by anything. A lot of animes that are only 4 minutes long tend to get looked over (unless they have a strong pull like Hetalia or Idolm@ster). In the meantime, Crunchyroll will still carry this. While most of the cast I’ve never heard before (with the exception of Yoko Hikasa), I’m unsure what to think as it almost feels like every character is on fast-forward all the time. Because of this, it really feels like such a turn-off. There are a lot of moments where that is uncalled for. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from. *Morina is played by Sayaka Senbongi *Maro is played by Yuki Yonai *Ruri is played by Yoko Hikasa (known for Mio on K-ON, Rias on High School DxD, Izumi on Working!!, Satan on Umineko, Yukinokouji on Inu x Boku SS, Young Rei on Free!, and singer to songs on Attack on Titan, K-ON, and Hayate) *Konno is played by Youhei Azakami *Oreki is played by Taku Yashiro FAVORITE CHARACTER: Given the length of this series in general, I couldn’t really find a character that stood out as a favorite of mine. So let’s move on!
DISLIKED CHARACTER: In the earlier episodes, I really hated Sara! And most of this stems from the fact that she finds Italian food gross. And the other is because…I don’t know, I hate annoying kids? That’s a good reason! But I waver since she kinda became less annoying near the end. I guess you can thank Morina for that. SHIPPING: I don’t even know what to put here. I want to think Maro has a thing for Morina. But then again, the age difference! This kid is literal grade-schooler and Morina is in high school (I think). But then I see things between Maro and Sara that make me think maybe. But then again, not much to go on there! Shipping is a bust! ENDING: As indicated in many of the episodes, Maro is really dedicated to the restaurant. Despite his age, he’s dedicated to being a great cook, perhaps surpassing his father one day. This is why you’ll find him at the restaurant more than at school! And so this final episode we get a little tension between Maro and Oreki. Because why does Oreki work at an Italian Trattoria if he can’t cook? Truth is, Oreki knows how to cook, but he can’t do it anymore due to tendinitis/carpal tunnel in both hands. And this came from overdoing it when he was younger. So he basically teaches Maro to slow it down. Crap, I really wanted to like this anime. I had high hopes that this would be like if the Aldini brothers from Shokugeki no Soma got their own show. But alas, that was not the case. One giant complaint was the pace of everyone speaking. It was like every character was put through the fast-forward button and it was so annoying. Some of the characters were just bland and didn’t really offer much to the main story. But one thing that was cute was that in each episode they made one special Italian dish during the episode or it would a major part of the episode. Given my background, I do enjoy seeing what dish they talk about or make. Each episode is different so sometimes there'd be pasta and other times it'd be an eggplant dish, tiramisu, or caprese. Sorry to say this but, no recommendation from me. I know I have a nasty prejudice against animes that are only 4 minutes long, but this one is just a no-go from me. It wasn’t insultingly bad or skipped around major points of the story, it was just flat and boring. If you do find an allure to this, then by all means go to Crunchyroll (while they still have it) and give it a go. They have both the series available to watch and the manga as well to read.
