Yayati

Yayati is one of the six sons of King Nahush. The mother of the tribe was Ashok Sundari, daughter of Shiva Parvati, and the other brothers were Yati, Sayati, Ayati, Beyati and Kriti. As the eldest son, Yati, was rebelling against the throne, King Nahush crowned his second son, Yayati. The ancestors of the Pandavas and the Jadubanshi were married to Devyani, the daughter of the Yayati Shukracharya. According to legend, he conquered the whole world and was conferred the title of Chakraborty emperor.

Mythology--

In addition to Devyani, he also married Sharmista. The legend in this regard is as follows. Along with Devyani, his friend Sharmista also stayed at Jayati's palace. Jayati, Devyani's father, promised Shukracharya that he would not have sexual intercourse with any woman other than Devyani. Once upon a time, Sharmista was passionate about attracting tourists. Fascinated by the beauty of Sharmista, Yayati also forgot her self-interest and became involved with her. In this way, the physical union of Sharmista and Yayati took place. After spending almost three years as husband and wife after hiding from Devyani for almost three years, Devyani knew everything and told her father Shukracharya everything. Shukracharya cursed Jayati for having sex with another woman without keeping his word. As a result of the curse, he became a Thai old man in his youth. Shukracharya, however, changed his mind and cursed, saying that with the consent of his son, he could enjoy this cursed old age with his son instead. This myth is narrated in the early days of the Mahabharata and in the Bhagavata Mahapurana.

Thus, out of Jayati's two wives, Sharmista had three sons and Devyani had two sons. According to the curse, Yayati wanted to get their youth by giving it to the boys in old age, but no boy other than Puru agreed. He was the youngest of the sons, but his father inherited the kingdom, and he himself remained a young man for a thousand years and began to enjoy physical youth. He then called his son-in-law and said, "I have not been happy for so long. So take your youth, I will now live in the Banaprastha Ashram and repent. 'Yayati then ascended to heaven with great penance, but a few days later, under the curse of Indra, he ascended to heaven and was forced to return to mortality. (Mahabharata, Adiparva, 61-4). On his way back to Earth, he returned to heaven, where he was rewarded for his generosity. Thus the pilgrimage was finally liberated.
