Wait wait wait. I have no idea if this was intended as crack or angst, but I'm going w angst.

TW: kinda CODEPENDENT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAIN CHARACTERS, DEHUMANIZATION, blood at the end.

Bc imagine if in this situation, Damian saw Danny, and brought him home. The bats are suspicious and treat him as what he is, a possible threat to their identities with unknown goals and really really really overpowered power system.

And in this one Danny could ran away/be thrown out of his home, and so Damian being nice to him just makes him imprint on him instantly. Bc he treats him so nice, and yeah sometimes he's kinda harsh and pushy, but he always apologizes! But his family is... well they don't seem to like Danny. They often flinch around him, and one of them leaves the room every time he enters. It's... it reminds him of the Fentons and how they acted around him before he left.

(what Danny doesn't know is yhe fam sees him freely use his powers like it's nothing. They also feel the powers and slight death aura he projects, bc he was forced out of his haunt, and now his emotions (and thus powers) are a mess. The person leaving the room is Duke because Danny hurts his eyes with what he looks like)

So he stays mainly with Damian. And it's really nice for the first few months! Really, Danny could've asked for better new home, it's just...

Sometimes he has a feeling Damian doesn't see him as a person.

Of course, there's no way, the empathetic Damian who started being a vegetarian because of his pet, or is helping in dismantling the ecto rights, would hurt him this way, but.... Danny can't go outside of the manor on his own. Nor is Damian allowing him to make lots of decision about medical stuff, only listening to what information Danny gives him and than making decision on his own. Sometimes Damian gives him a treat, which is really nice, it's just...

It just feels really dehumanizing.

He's sure Damian isn't doing this on purpose, the boy knows after all of his trauma and fear of being seen as non sentient. He held him through his panic attack, and listened to his rumblings about the GIW.

But it's still kind of uncomfortable.

Even Damian's family sometimes looks at him with strange look in their eyes. Sonetiems they say they have to talk with Damian and later he comes back, fuming with anger. They still didn't say anything in front of Danny, but even this is enough for Danny to confirm his feeling something isn't right.

Though... is it really fair to confront Damian about this small issue, after everything he did for Danny? He defended him against his family, gave him food and new home.... and here Danny is being ungreatful because of one small thing.

Yeah, Danny thought, I'm sure I'm just overreacting.

Two weeks later, the manor was painted in red. The collar Damian brought for Danny was laying unharmed several feet from the unconscious boy.

Damian sees the anti ecto rights and misunderstands them horribly

He assumes ghost are just very highly intelligent animals with a lot of them copying human behavior to protect themselves

So when he sees phantom he of course treats him like one of his animals

Considering Dannys range of people he deals with damian is very much in the nice but weird category

So he goes along

And so begins the bats vs damians belief that Danny is an animal with Danny just being happy he has a home and food
