K-Pop Scandals 2024

This year on "scandals you couldn't make up" k-pop edition. There were a lot of lawsuits, between idols and companies as well as between idols and netizens, plus the regular dating "scandals" and disbandments. But I suppose the HYBE vs. Min Hee Jin fight overshadowed all the other shenanigans. Check out my annual list of the most important k-pop scandals of 2024.

last song: matahari by chrisye. so i was listening to jinki's circle and i though whoa damn this specific kind atmosphere you can feel the seasons passing by is reminding me of another song. it's in indonesian and the instrumentals and the choir both going BONKERS INSANE the way it is in circle convinces me that they are siblings. it's an absolute fave of mine, if you have to listen to one indonesian song i'd recommend that one!!

last show: mendua which is an indonesian remake of world of the married. ngl i watch it because the actresses are so PRETTY AND HOT and i was surprised by how good it is! the particular scene is sooo messily melokal, i love it so much and adinia wirasti is hot Hot and she's really good at thing acting thing especially when she's being angry and speaking sternly. sorry

Hana, the mother of two children, is a very busy woman these days. She is a very popular and in-demand actor, starring in many different dramas and movies. When she's not taking care of her daughter Hyerin or her son Jinyoung, she is dotting on her husband Jaeyoung.

After the last performance, she dove headfirst into acting, taking a break from music.

Bom has been very busy as of late. She decided to pursue Youtube full-time as she had a knack for recording and editing videos well. She took up being an influencer when she started modeling. Her fiancé Majesty is very supportive and she can't wait to marry him.

After the last performance, Bom went into a small depression period where she decided to focus on herself and her mental health.

Naeun has been taking life slowly. She is always on the move, attending various fashion shows and doing other things. She would sometimes use it as an excuse to just travel, enjoying seeing what life has to offer. Her boyfriend SungHoon takes care of her also when he can as he is serving as a security guard for the president of South Korea currently. She actually ended up moving with him closer to his base.

After the last performance, Naeun immediately tried to separate herself from the idol industry. She, at the moment, has no intentions of returning to the music side of the entertainment industry.

[ LEE DARA ] [ PRODUCER/SOLOIST/MUSIC SHOW JUDGE]

Unlike her other members, Dara has stayed in the music scene. She thought that since she worked so hard to be in the industry, she better make the most of it. She produces for a variety of groups and soloists, her songs topping the charts. She also occasionally drops her own solo music, but she never promotes it on music shows. She is also known for being a judge on many different shows, being brutally honest throughout her time on them.

After the last performance with V3NOMS, Dara has stayed in contact with the girls. She is the most active in the group chat and keeps the other members updated on the other.

[ JUNG IRENE/ MONO] [SOLOIST/STREAMER]

Now, it's time to introduce Irene. Irene is from Seoul, South Korea. She is a popular solo artist under the name "Mono." She works closely with Dara as she is the one who produces most, if not all of Irene's songs. When she is not making music, she is streaming video games on Twitch or on YouTube.

NOVA MISSION 008

early morning, on JANUARY 6, the members of NOVA are met by their manager, GEUM SHINHYE, straight in their practice room. she's accompanied by her assistant, JI NAEUN. this morning, the two older women have brought healthy breakfast for all the girls; fruit, oatmeal, yoghurt and, of course, each girls' favorite caffeinated drink. "the year end period is almost over and lunar new year holidays are coming soon. even if the break will be short this time, the schedule for the following weeks will be less hectic" shinhye begins on an encouraging tone.

REORGANIZATION

after a year and a half, the group will finally be moving to a bigger DORM. with two additional bedrooms, two members will have their own room. meanwhile, the managers will be sharing one bedroom but switching who stays with the girls once a month, beginning with NAEUN in JANUARY. you can view the dorm HERE. they have until FEBRUARY 2 to finish moving to their new accomodations.

LEVI'S PERSONALIZED DESIGNS

for almost two years now, LEVI'S has been with NOVA. unfortunately, the contract with the company is ending in LATE JUNE. for their last collaboration, the members will get to work with levi's stylists to created their own denim design! each girl will get to pick a garment (skirt, short, jeans, dress, overalls, ect), choose the type and color of the denim, the cut as well as the embelishments on them. the NOVA LINE will be available online and in store from APRIL 2025.

IUVENTA (ANIMETED SERIES)

as previously mentioned, IUVENTA has been picked up by a japanese channel. during the month of january and the beginning of february KIM NAYOUNG, KWON SENA, SON NABI and WATANABE MIYU will be recording their lines in japanaese. meanwhile, SEO MINSEO and YU MILAN will receive additional japanese language lessons to reach a decent proficiency (minimum of 50).

MARCH COMEBACK

although 'GIRLS NEVER DIE' promotions have barely ended, to capitalize on IUVENTA being released in JAPAN, NOVA will be having a comeback on MARCH 7 that will tie in with the animated series. furthermore, for their korean and international fans alike, a new chapter of NOVA IUVENTA is coming in the form of a mini-film; OUROBOROS. filming will be from FEBRUARY 10 to FEBRUARY 21. the short film will premiere in selected theaters in KOREA as a special event for fans only on MARCH 5 and released on youtube the next day.  (additional information on NI:O will be revealed in a seperated post coming next week).

this comeback will also mark the debut of NOVA NAIAD with members KIM NAYOUNG, KWON SENA and WATANABE MIYU who represent the color TURQOISE of the group.

PROMOTIONS

on FEBRUARY 28, the group will hold a special event in TOKYO, JAPAN for the premiere of IUVENTA's japanese version and the release of its theme song, RIGHT NOW. for this event, the girls will be dressed as their animated counterparts.

music show promotions in korea will begin on friday MARCH 7, during the first week, they will perform both 'MY WOLD' and 'ACCENDIO', then for the following two weeks, only the title track. the promotions have been shortened due to the heavy schedule.

NOVA will be guesting on various radio shows this time, beginning with KBS' FM 'KISS THE RADIO', followed by 'IDOL RADIO' and 'CULTWO SHOW'. this will be followed by a recording of 'ACCENDIO' with a live band for 'it's LIVE', followed by a dance performance on STUDIO CHOOM t o perform 'GIRLS NEVER DIE' and film a RELAY DANCE for the song. in terms of variety, they will guest as a group on RUNNING MAN and PARK MYUNGSOO's youtube channel. finally, the group will be holding fameetings and fancalls from mid MARCH to the end of APRIL. these will usually take place after their schedules. 'TRAMPOLINE' mv will be released on APRIL 7 as a gift for the fans

     once she was done with the annoying work emails, taking big bites of the sandwich in between, kaori realized she had a ton of content that needed to be edited for her youtube channel. breathing out a big sigh, the only thing that was keeping her going was the fact that her view was perfect. glancing at the cafe owner every now and then, but trying to be subtle about it all. after all, she still had those confusing type of thoughts swirling around in her mind. shaking off the thoughts so she can concentrate on her work, most of the morning consisted of editing, petting puppies, and glancing every now and then at naeun. it was like the hours just zoomed by, hearing her stomach grumbling was the only thing that pulled her out her trance. kaori's eyes look over at naeun who is still behind the counter. and so, she takes it upon herself and slides out of the booth, walking up to her with a rather shy smile.
