به یاد خورشید جی رستم جی کاما (Cama, Kharshedji Rustomji) ایرانشناس نامدار پارسی هند و متخصص در زبان و ادبیات پهلوی در ۲۰ آگوست ۱۹۰۹ از جهان درگذشت. موسسه شرقشناسی کاما (K. R. Cama Oriental Institute) با آن گنجینۀ کتابهای چاپی و خطی، به سال ۱۹۱۶ در بمبئی به نام او برپا شده است.

خانم دکتر کتایون نمیرانیان در مقاله‌ای به نام " معرّفی مؤسسه شرق شناسی كاما و آثار ايرانی آن " که در مجلّه مطالعات ايرانی دانشگاه شهید باهنر کرمان سال پنجم، شماره نهم، بهار ۱۳۸ به چاپ رسیده‌است، به معرفی آقای خورشیدجی رستم جی کاما و موسسه شرقشناسی کاما و کتابهای کتابخانه ارزشمند آن پرداخته‌اند.

خورشيد جی رستم جی كاما K.R. CAMA ، در سال ۱۸۳۱ در هندوستان متولّد شد، متأهل بود و دارای ۸  فرزند. چون ساير پارسيان در زمينه صنعت، به ويژه صنعت راه آهن، فعاليت ميكرد. در زمينه مطالعات اوستايی تلاشهايی داشت. به زبانهای مختلف گفتگو ميكرد و با ايرانشناسان اروپايی هم عصر خود چون اشپيگل و دار مستتر ارتباط داشت. در زمينه علوم جديد و نيز هنر، دستی داشت و به عنوان شهروند شهر بمبئی در ۱۷ مؤسسه تجاری، صنعتی، مدرسه و ... به نوعی عضويت داشت. وی در سال ۱۹۰۹ در سن ۷۸ سالگی به طور ناگهانی فوت كرد.

پس از درگذشت وی و به عنوان بزرگداشت حقوق شهروندی او، كميته بزرگداشت در سال ۱۹۱۰  تصميم به تأسيس يك مركز ايرانشناسی گرفت كه عمده هزينه آن توسط تاجر هندو « دامودارداس گرد هند سوخد والا » پرداخت شد (كه خود قابل توجه است).

موسسه شرقشناسی کاما (K. R. Cama Oriental Institute)

اين مركز شامل كتابخانه، سالن مطالعه و سالن سخنرانی در سال ۱۹۱۶ در روز تولد كاما در بمبئی افتتاح شد. كتابخانه اين مؤسسه دربردارنده كتابخانه‌ها و مجموعه‌های زير است:

مانكجی ليمجی هاتريا زمانی كه در ايران بود، مجموعه ارزشمندی از كتابهای چاپی و خطی فراهم كرد كه متأسفانه بخش اعظم آنها از دست رفت، اما آنچه باقيمانده ظاهراً در اين موسسه نگهداری ميشود.

اين مؤسسه داراي ۲۰۰۰ نسخه خطی، ۲۵۰۰۰ كتاب چاپی به زبانهای مختلف كه ۲۰۰۰ تای آن فارسی است و مشترك ۱۹۱عنوان مجلّه است. معتقدين از همه اديان چنانكه من پرسيدم، ميتوانند به طور حضوری از كتابخانه استفاده كنند، به اعضا دو كتاب به به مدت یک ماه امانت داده می شود. شرايط عضویت طبيعتاً سكونت دائم در بمبئي و پرداخت حق عضويت ساليانه است. ساعات كار اين موسسه با ۱۲ كارمند ثابت، دوشنبه تا جمعه ۱۷-۱۰ و شنبه ۱۳-۱۰ است. اين موسسه در منطقه lion gate شهر غيبی، تأييد شده توسط دون هند، توسط خانم همای مدی اداره ميشود. انتشار گاهنامه و كتاب و نيز اهدای جوايز به مقالات دانش آموزی مربوط از ديگر فعاليتهای اين موسسه است. در مورد كتابهای چاپی موسسه كه خود رقم قابل ملاحظه‌ای است، شايد تمام عناوين جديد كتب ايرانشناسی را در برنگيرد، اما برای محقّق در اين زمينه می تواند بسيار مفيد باشد، به ويژه كه ماندگاری كتاب بيش از مجلّه است.

CAMA, KHARSHEDJI RUSTAMH (b. 11 Novem­ber 1831, d. 20 August 1909), Parsi Zoroastrian scholar and community leader. His father Rustamji, who died when Cama was eight, was a China trader; his mother was Manockbai Gazdar. At the age of eight he was married to his first cousin, Awabai (d. 1863), by whom he had two sons, Rustam (b. 1860) and Jehangir (b. 1863); he was remarried in 1865 to Aimae (d. 1895), by whom he had seven children.
