rubicon program references
due to the slow death of twitter i'm collecting my program links here. (almost) none of the rubicon skates are meant to be identical to real life programs, but some of the inspiration is pretty one-to-one… and some is a little less direct.
if you find yourself region blocked, try a free vpn - i recommend the veepn browser extension (firefox | chrome) or proton.

2022 JGP Poland stage 2 entry #39
Junior short dance
Bashynska/Beaumount(CAN)
Thoughts: Nadia, not your best work. But I’ve also seen a lot worse in the seduction department.
Tali/Frasca(ITA)
Thoughts: Noemi, I kept going back and forth with this dress. But the ending pose helped a lot.
Monchot/Chardain(FRA)
Thoughts: Martin, there’s a quiet confidence about him. And I remember, this isn’t first time he’s caught my eye.
Carhart/Horovyi(USA)
Thoughts: Helena made a good attempt at trying to win me back after Volodymyr’s fall.
Vainik/Barshak(GEO)
Thoughts: their video was blurry. But I loved Grace’s hairstyle.
Junior free dance
Bashynska/Beaumount(CAN)
Thoughts: this music choice is perfect for Nadia. She looks like she’s floating.
Tali/Frasca(ITA)
Thoughts: the rotational lift was a beauty.
Monchot/Chardain(FRA)
Thoughts: Eek, Martin laid there for a little while after the fall. Yikes.
Carhart/Horovyi(USA)
Thoughts: I don’t think I ever noticed Volodymyr’s facial hair before.

2022 junior worlds entry #23
Free Dance
Kudryavtseva/Karankevich(CYP)
Thoughts: there were some shaky parts. But these two still look like royalty.
Grim/Savitskiy(GER)
Thoughts: Michail, look at you and your swoopy hair. So cute.
Bashynska/Beaumont(CAN)
Thoughts: Nadia, you look stunning. But tell me, why does Peter just look like some random dude on the ice.
D’Alessandro/Waddell(CAN)
Thoughts: I love love black swan programs, but Natalie’s outfit just wasn’t doing it for me
Brown/Brown(USA)
Thoughts: Gage still needs a lot of help with his facial expressions. Oona, your hair looks fantastic.

Short dance
Kudryatseva/Karankevich(CYP)
Thoughts: they look so good. It has been way too long since I saw video of them. This makes me really happy.
D’Alessadro/Waddell(CAN)
Thoughts: Natalie, you have an amazing smile. But only certain stunners can pull off bright yellow. Still love you but sorry, bright yellow is not your color.
Bashynska/Beaumont(CAN)
Thoughts: It took a while for this team to grow on me. And even today, I still think they are overhyped. But Nadia is pretty.
Brown/Brown(USA)
Thoughts: Oona. Onna looks fantastic.

2022 Canadian Nationals entry #23
Junior free dance
Robinson/Portz
Thoughts: Alyssa was a wobbly mess. But they did a really good job selling that ending lift.
Yu/Giang
Thoughts: Hailey, I love you. But these are eyesore outfits.
Makita/Gunara
Thoughts: these two know how to create drama with their arms. And that lift right before the foxtrot sequence, fucking magnificent.
Bashynska/Beaumont
Thoughts: the judges were a little generous with those twizzles. How does Nadia not have a heart attack when Peter does the straddle jump way too close to her face?!
D’Alessandro/Waddell
Thoughts: Bruce has such an expressive face. It fits this song perfectly.
Senior women short program
Alexandra Diaz
Thoughts: spins need help. Speed is good but she puts so much energy into her speed. It gives her these little curly q landings and those are going to cost her.

2022 Canadian Nationals entry #19
Junior short dance
Bolender/Dotzert
Thoughts: twizzles were a little wobbly on Nicole’s side
Martel/Chant
Thoughts: first time seeing these two. Not a fan of the choreography on Savanna’s side.
Cutler/Mah
Thoughts: every time you watch these two, you must mention what a stunner Mackenzie is
D’Alessandro/Waddell
Thoughts: Did Bruce get a haircut? I like it.
Bashynska/Beaumont
Thoughts: I think I liked Nadia’s outfit the first time I saw it but, the novelty is kind of wearing off now.

2021 Skate Canada challenge entry #15
I’ve been watching all of the federation talk. Now that I pay more attention to nationals. None of the federations are perfect. There’s abuse. There’s too much focus on quads and winning. The lower scored skaters. Some of them never even see international competition.
Junior free dance
Gauthier/Thieren
Thoughts: the anger and the drama in the choreography. So much fun.
Bashynska/Beaumont
Thoughts: I don’t know what gives me a heart attack more. Peter doing that split jump way too close to the wall or that the same split jump also brought his leg way too close to Nadia’s face.
Yu/Giang
Thoughts: Hailey, one eyesore dress doesn’t make me not love you anymore or anything crazy like that. But it is still an eyesore dress.
Junior Pairs short program
Wilberforce/Wright
Thoughts: Lilly is a sprightly little thing.
Mcintosh/Mimar
Thoughts: Did Brooke get taller?! These two need better death spiral positions.

Skate Canada Challenge entry #11
Junior short dance
Gadoury/Desmarais
Thoughts: Eliane, I tried to let your choreography grow on me but it just wasn’t enough.
Fournier/Haddad
Thoughts: I know I’ve seen these two before. But I can’t remember where. Hm… Anyway, the rotational lift was very fun.
Bashynska/Beaumount
Thoughts: Peter, what is that tie?! Nadia, have you lost weight? Those side cutouts. Perfection.
Gover/Patriquin
Thoughts: The ending won me over
Yu/Giang
Thoughts: this number seems a little thin, even with the botched twizzle. Or maybe I just love Hailey like, a lot.

French Masters Free Dance #6
Papadakis/Cizeron
Thoughts: I liked this more than I’ve liked their performances in years past. We could do without the deep V from Guillaume though.
JGP Austria Junior Short Dance #1-4
Brown/Brown(USA)
Thoughts: I was trying to find a nice thing to say about Gage’s outfit because I used to like him before his hair got too crazy, but I gave up somewhere around the 2 minute mark. Oona was fun though.
Huber/Huber(AUT)
Thoughts: I was going to say something nice about Patrik’s torso filling out but then he fell down.
Calderari/Cilli(ITA)
Thoughts: Nicole has such a large stage presence that Marco kind of fades into the background TBH
Bashynska/Beaumount(CAN)
Thoughts: there was a speed to them that I don’t remember seeing before. And I liked Nadia and all her hearts.

In the Junior Pairs event, Annike Hocke and Robert Kunkel look to continue their great debut season as a pair by qualifying for the Final and stopping a possible Russian sweep of the podium.
In the Junior Ice Dance event, Maria Kazakova and Gregory Reviya of Georgia look to secure their spot in the Final, while holding off strong competition from Russia, Canada, and the Czech Republic.

Andrew Torgashev of the US must win in order to qualify.
In the Junior Ladies event, Daria Usacheva of Russia needs to place second or higher in order to qualify for the Final, while Heien Lee of South Korea needs only to medal in order to secure her spot.

JGP Solidarity Cup Preview
Welcome to what was supposed to be week five of the Junior Grand Prix, but what is now week four with the JGP Solidarity Cup, the first of two weeks in Gdansk, Poland.
Last week’s competition in Yerevan, Armenia was cancelled. Due to this, the spots were reallocated to the final three weeks of competition.
Entries & Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season2223/jgp5pol2022/ Stream: https://www.youtube.com/c/isujuniorgrandprix
Schedule (Local Time):
9/29: Women’s Short 9:00; Pairs Short 16:15; Men’s Short 18:20 9/30: Rhythm Dance 9:00; Pairs Free 12:50; Women’s Free 15:00 10/1: Men’s Fee 12:15; Free Dance 17:00
In the Men’s competition, the frontrunner of the event is Week Two winner Nozomo Yoshioka of Japan. Competition for the other two medals is wide open as skaters from the US, China, Italy, Japan, Switzerland and South Korea look to try to snag a medal.
In the Women’s event, Mao Shimada of Japan looks to earn her second win of the season. The competition for the other two spots on the podium looks to come from Japan and South Korea.
In the Pairs event, the favorites look to be Anastasia Golubeva and Hektor Giotopoulos Moore of Australia. Favorites for silver look to be Violeta Sierova and Ivan Khobta of Ukraine, while silver looks to be a battle between Haruna Murakami and Sumitada Moriguchi of Japan and Oxana Vouillamoz and Flavien Giniaux of Fance.
In the Ice Dance event, the battle for gold looks to be between Nadia Bashynska and Peter Beaumont of Canada and week two silver medalists Phebe Bekker and James Hernandez of Great Britain. The battle for bronze looks to be between teams from Japan, France and Ukraine.
Final Qualification
There are more skaters looking to cement a place in the Final in December.
In the Men’s event, favorite Nozomu Yoshioka of Japan has the easiest path. With a win already, he only needs to medal here to secure a place in the Final. Ryoga Morimoto of Japan also has a shot - he’ll need to place at least second here to have a chance after winning bronze in week one. A win would secure it.
Younghyun Cha of South Korea is another skater who has a shot. After placing second in week one, if he can repeat that finish or better it, he will be going to the Final. A bronze would give him a chance, as well.
In the Women’s event, the only skater looking to qualify for the Final here is favorite Mao Shimada. She only needs to medal to go to the Final.
In the Pairs event, Haruna Murakami and Sumitada Moriguchi of Japan have a shot at qualifying for the Final here. If they can medal, they will most likely be headed to the Final. Oxana Vouillamoz and Flavien Giniaux of France have an outside shot at qualifying - they’ll need at least a silver in order to have any chance.
In the Ice Dance, Phebe Bekker and James Hernandez of Great Britain will be looking to secure their place in the Final this week. After a silver medal in in week two, another silver or better would secure them a spot. A bronze would also give them a shot here.
Mariia Pinchuk and Nikita Pogorielov of Ukraine and Nao Kida and Masaya Morito of Japan both have an outside shot here - both teams will need a silver to secure a spot, but another bronze will put them into contention.
Celina Fradji and Jean-Hans Forneaux of France also have a shot at qualifying here. After a silver in week two, a silver would secure them a spot in the Final, and a bronze would put them in contention.
Skaters to Watch
As a reminder, these are not necessarily podium contenders, but just skaters to keep an eye on and are in no particular order.
Men - Alec Ginzbourg (CAN), Yudong Chen (CHN), Francois Pitot (FRA), Raffaele Francesco Zich (ITA), Ryoga Miromoto (JPN), Nozomu Yoshioka (JPN), Younghyun Cha (KOR), Naoki Rossi (SUI), Lucas Broussard (USA), Joseph Klein (USA), Michael Xie (USA)
Women - Kimmy Repond (SUI), Clare Seo (USA), Noelle Streuli (POL), Anna Pezzetta (ITA), Mone Chiba (JPN), Mao Shimada (JPN), Heesue Han (KOR), Chaeyon Kim (KOR), Minchae Kim (KOR), Nataly Langerbauer (EST), Ilda Karhunen (FIN), Lorine Schild (FRA), Xiangyi An (CHN)
Pairs - There’s only ten pairs so I say just watch them all!
Ice Dance - Mariia Pinchuk / Mykyta Pogoreliev (UKR), Helena Carhart / Volodmyr Horovyi (USA), Nao Kida / Masaya Morita (JPN), Nadiia Bashynska / Peter Beaumont (CAN), Celina Fradji / Jean-Hans Forneaux (FRA), Phebe Bekker / James Hernandez (GBR). Karla Marie Karl / Kai Hoferichter (GER)

JGP Austria Junior Free Dance #13-17
Rybakova/Makhonosov(RUS)
Thoughts: Ekaterina’s dress took a while to grow on me, but it helps that she has one of those joyful contagious type smiles.
Bashynska/Beaumont(CAN)
Thoughts: I liked the red ribbons in Nadia’s hair but nothing about Peter stood out to me.
Ling/Wein(USA)
Thoughts: the purple suited Caleb. I liked Angela better in the SP though.
Brown/Brown(USA)
Thoughts: Gage was better. The hair wasn’t as crazy. Poor Oona fell though☹
Tyutyunina/Shustitskiy(RUS)
Thoughts: the chemistry between these two is beautiful
JGP Austria Pairs Free Program #1
Sazonova/Tashmukhamedov(UZB)
Thoughts: ooh poor dears. At least the death spiral was clean.
