There is nothing in this life but mist.
@transgirl-artemis. This will actually be in the fic that I'm writing. But I don't want to forget this before I actually write it. Here, have an insight.
It was always dusk in the OtherWorld. No matter what time of day it was in the Natural World, there was an eternal soft dawn or dusk lighting, the sky patterned with planets seen as stars. Sakiya Yamada found Áine Ó Broin sitting on at a café table at the edge of the cafeteria, away from prying eyes, but in an area that acted like an outside seating. The Onryō moved closer to the other ghost, the woman looked like she barely slept when she was alive and she sat across the ghost, who looked out of the window forlornly. Her eyes were puffy, Áine had been crying. “Are you okay?” Sakiya asked softly, reaching a hand out to the other woman in white. Áine didn't move her hand away at the touch, but she didn't look at Sakiya either. “No.” She whispered, her voice shaky. “Ya would think that... I would know that life is short. Níl sa saol seo ach ceo, is ní bheimid beo, ach seal beag gearr.” She spoke in a language foreign to the Australian born Japanese woman, her words made Sakiya tilt her head, black hair moving with her movement. “Seeing others die, ya think ‘I am just so glad that I've never lost someone. But I mourn for those who have’. You get fooled into believing nothing could ever happen to you, or those ya love. And then, one day... Ya get a call from ya aunt but she can't finish whatever she was trying to say. You don't understand. And then later, ya get a call from yer step dad and he's in tears. Ya ask what's wrong. And then...” Her voice choked. “And then he tells ya that... It's ya mam. That somethin' happened ta her. An' she ain't coming back.” Her long thin fingers curl up as she began to cry again. Her bottom lip quivered, saliva dribbling down from her parted lips. She tried to hide how she cried but she can't. There were quiet squeaks coming from Áine's throat, Sakiya could tell she was trying to not cry. “I couldn't handle me mammy dying. I went home the day after she died, helped with me family before and after the funeral. And I couldn't feel any better even after two months. I felt empty, hollow. There was no direction in me life anymore. Nothing that could make me happy kept me happy. Me mind dissociated from me body. Days blurred into one. I couldn't tell days unless someone made it blatantly obvious or I forced myself to notice. I felt like my mind and body were no longer connected. I couldn't sleep well but in the mornings, I couldn't get outta me bed.” Her other hand reached up to the stab wound that ended her life, clear as day on the sternum of Áine. “After two months of this, I couldn't take it no more. And I finally snuffed me life out after chickening out too often when I was younger.”
Sakiya listened to Áine's story, quiet, a look of sorrow on her pale and dripping face. “When did your mother die? You said two months... Was it... In January?”
Áine nodded. “They didn't know what she died from for a week. It was painful, not knowing. And then, they found out it was a heart attack that took her. Something of her heart got blocked, and no oxygen got in. They said she died peacefully and without pain. But since she was 44, and there was no will and bills to pay... The money she had went there. She had no will and five children, a dog and a mourning spouse.” She took a shaky breath. “I couldn't live anymore, Sakiya. Not without her. She never got to see her babies grow. She never got to see her kids marry, or give her grandchildren. Her mammy, my grandmammy, had to bury her daughter.” She turned around and showed to Sakiya a part of a back and shoulder tattoo. Sakiya could see cherry blossoms and the branch it was on. “I learned that the Japanese see the sakura like life. It blooms briefly and then dies.”
Sakiya shook her head. “It's seen as a time of renewal as well. But it's from Buddhaism that sees it symbolise life. But yes, in a sense.”
“Do you think it's appropriation?”
“The tattoo? Eh, you understand it's importance and acknowledge it. I personally don't have a problem. But remember, I don't represent all of Japan, okay?” Áine nodded. “Hey, uh, what did you say earlier?”
“There is nothing in this life but mist, and we will only be alive but for a short time.” She translated. “I have that tattooed on my back too.”

Aisling's song
So this song is in The Secret of Kells. It's really a beautiful movie.
I usually call the song by it's other name Pangur Bán, and then I have a hard time searching it up, lol. So if you're looking for this specific version, go to this channel: M. Máire Ní Shúilleabháin
I think the song was inspired by a 9th century poem written by a monk for his white cat, Pangur Bán.
Here are the lyrics:
Pangur bán, pangur bán,
Níl sa saol ach ceo,
Is ni bheimid beo...
Ach seal beag gearr
And if you don't speak the language, someone in the comments made them easier to pronounce.
You must go where I can not,
Pangur bán, pangur bán,
(Panger bawn, panger bawn,)
Níl sa saol seo ach ceo,
(Neel sa sail sheo ak ceeo,)
Is ni bheimid beo,
(Is nee bae-midge beeo)
Ach seal beag gearr,
(Ak shall bee-ug giarr,)

She sat on the floor, an open, glowing tome in front of her. Out of her mouth came an ancient song.
"Pangur Ban, Pangur ban...níl sa saol seo ach ceo..."
Far away, one of her grandfather's cats, who was friendly with Clara, ventured into the kitchen. His eyes glowed blue, and he moved like a shadow. He crept towards a box where marzipan animals were stored. If this spell was to work, it would come back to her with a sweet in its mouth.
"Is ní bheimid beo...ach seal beag gearr. "

Can I just comment on this Movie and Song real quick? Thanks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfLcUtWJbn4
This song, the name being “Amhran Aisling” (Which means “Aisling’s song”) is an Irish (Irish Gaelic?) song from the movie Secret of Kells.
First off, I’d like to comment on how amazing this person who translated the song is. They have translated multiple other songs, like Dulaman (Seaweed, an Irish folk song,) and Amhran na farraige, (A Song of the Sea.) Please check them out, it would really be wonderful if you helped them out.
The movie is outright majestic, a must-watch for the whole family. It’s art style is beautiful, and it’s overall aesthetic is mellow and mysterious, making the audience caught up in the sheer beauty of the film, completely zoning out everything around them to watch every little leaf flutter, and every small detail glimmer as the characters dance across the screen.
The main theme of the movie seems to be about how short human lives are, and how stories and knowledge is limited to those who learn it, and pass it on. However, to avoid this loss of knowledge and stories, they write it down in books, which keeps a small part of their soul, per say, alive in the pages.
The main character, Brendan, is tasked to writing the Book of Kells, since the last person working on it is too old to write and draw in it anymore. Brendan ends up slowly creating the book for almost his entire lifespan, perfecting it page after page.
The book of Kells, the book which the movie has Brendan creating, is a real book that was written, theorized to have been created in 800 A.D, and is widely known to be Ireland’s finest national treasure.
But with that out of the way, time to talk a bit about the song.
The lyrics, (in particular;)
Is ní bheimid beo, (And we will only be alive) Ach seal beag gearr. (But for a little short while)
Really emphasizes on how small we are, and how short our lives are compared to the universe, and the lyrics
“Níl sa saol seo ach ceo” (There is nothing in this life but mist)
says that we know so little about this world, and what we know is so small compared to all the knowledge in the world that it barley clears the “fog” of mystery in our world.
“Pangur Ban, Pangur ban” (Fair Pangur, Fair Pangur.)
This is literally the name of the cat. But it’s a cute name.
I personally don’t know if i’m making sense right now, but really I just needed to talk about this song and i’ve got that off my chest now. I don't care if i sound stupid or something but I really love this movie, and the book of Kells, and this song, and Irish history, AND ALL THAT STUFF-- *ahem* sorry I got passionate there...
Thank you for reading. I’ll see you all later.
~Sans ( of @two-angsty-fells )
( Please tell me if there is anything that doesn't make sense or if there are typos. I wrote this at 3:08 AM and I’m bound to sound like nonsense in the morning. and sorry if i offended someone accidentally. I'm shit at not sounding offensive sometimes.)

This little kitty is how I even found Pangur and Grim! Níl sa saol seo ach ceo...
I saw a post featuring a cartoon cat named Pangur and I wanted to know where it was from so I just googled Pangur and all the google images were your alien in different hats. I don’t know what I expected.
oh dang, look at that
the name Pangur Bán comes from an old Irish poem about a white cat, and more recently appeared in this GORGEOUS Irish flick called The Secret of Kells. this should probably be higher in the results than my rat in a tophat, oops

Sorry I left. I'm still reeling with dissociation over the death of my mother. It will happen again. But now you can have the illusion that I'm online by me keeping myself logged in.
Níl sa saol seo ach ceo,
Is ní bheimid beo,
ach seal beag gearr.
There is nothing in this life but mist.
And we are only alive
But for a short while.
