New places were supposed to be exciting, but when you saw nothing but new places for long enough, it all started to get old. Goku had even been excited about this place, just from its name, but so far it was boring as all the others--and there wasn’t even any good food, much less seasoning!

He’d all but given up, having found a park bench to just lie down and starve to death on, when a smell caught his attention, and he sat right back up. “Hey! Where’d you get that?”

Lee knew that Ritsu didn’t like heights. Anything higher than a telephone pole and the other boy would start breaking out into a sweat and nervously suggest that hey, wasn’t it time to go, it was getting pretty late. 

That didn’t bother Lee even though he enjoyed the rush that came from climbing as high as he possibly could, being able to see things from a new perspective. If Ritsu rather keep his feet on the ground, that was fine with him. So when Ritsu suggested that they find some place to watch the meteor shower and agreed to the top of a building on the edge of town, he was surprised. Delighted, but surprised. 

“This far up, the lights from the city don’t get in the way of the view,” he said, reaching over to drape an arm around Ritsu’s shoulder, just to let him know he wasn��t in danger of falling. “I’m really glad you came up here. This is my favorite spot.”

A pause.

“First one to see a shooting star has to do a favor for the other.”

Even it was a small flower, it was more than enough to bring a smile on her features. “Ah, t-thank you, R-Ritsu-kun! It’s s-so pretty...!~” She chirped, tenderly holding the new flower in her hand.

when    asked    about    what    she    wanted    to    do    first    upon    their    arrival    at    the    park’s    gates,    an    index    finger    immediately    lifted    towards    the    direction    of    the    TALLEST    AND    LARGEST    ride    in    the    whole    area.    ❛    can    we    try    that    one,    ritsu-nii    ?    ❜    albeit    being    a    couple    of    meters    away    from    it,    loud    screams    already    filled    the    entire    area    whenever    the    cart    slid    down    the    mechanical    body    of    the    rollercoaster.    ebony-hued    irises    basically    glinted    with    excitement    and    expectancy    as    they    looked    up    at    her    big    brother.    it    was    her    favorite    ride    of    all    time    and    she’d    be    DEFINITELY    DISHEARTENED    if    they    went    home    without    riding    it    for    AT    LEAST    TWO    TIMES    !        

huge    was    the    smile    that    crept    on    either    corners    of    her    lips;    only    to    contort    into    the    tiniest    (    and    saddest    )    of    pouts    when    he    seemed    hesitant    to    join    with    her.        ❛    but    ...    ❜    chihiro    was    about    to    tell    him    how    it    wasn’t    ALL    THAT    scary    and    it    would    only    be    a    quick    one    –– anything    really    that    would    make    him    change    his    mind    about    it    ––    when    he    suddenly    ,    magically    ,    agreed    to    it.    did    she    really    hear    him    right?

“I just- I need a moment.” Masha had to remind herself to take deep breaths. Calming down was her first priority. Then she could work through other steps. After a couple of moments she straightens up slightly, looking towards where the boy was.

“I- I dropped my cane.” There’s a hint of embarrassment to her voice now. As normally she tried to not do that. It was pretty important to keep it with her while she was out and about. “Could you please help me find it?”

Staring at the mirror, Cotton Candy tried her best to somehow hide the large missing chunk of candy floss hair. Try as she might though, there was no way a gap like that was going to be hidden so easily. More sugary tears began to well up in her eyes as she realized the futility of their efforts.

♡ –} “ It’s going to take hours to grow back! I can’t go anywhere like this! ”

She dramatically flopped face first onto her bed, glitter residue from arts and crafts projects past flying up into the air as she did. The sweet kicked her feet, sobbed and moaned quite pathetically into her pillows about her predicament. Ritsu didn’t mean it, she knew that very well. Still...

♡ –} “ It’s just...I just can’t bear to be seen by anyone, especially them like this! ” 

The date was forfeit and there was nothing she could do other than let her date know she wouldn’t be able to go.

@mysteryunknown​ sent: Ritsu pressed a finger to his mouth in a shushing manner and then beckoned Chloe to crounch next to him. Once she did, he pointed to a hole in the side of the building. After a moment, some small faces peeked out and mewed. "Kittens." He said quietly.

Chloe was wondering why he was leading her in this exact location, but she followed his lead nonetheless. Standing behind Ritsu, she soon noticed the small hole in the side of the building. And then she heard soft meowing as several kittens emerged from the other side. 

“O-Oh...!” The girl reacted in awe. “C-cute...” All of them were so adorable, the temptation to pet them was raising.

@mysteryunknown​ sent: Ritsu stared blankly at the mess on the ground ; the poor remains of an ice cream cone. "Er... here." He split his double popsicle into two and offered Chloe one. "You can have this. I didn't lick it yet."

The girl became a bit heartbroken when the ice cream cone accidently slipped from her hands. Now the treat being ruined, there was nothing she could do. However, out of pure kindness, Ritsu offered the other half of his double popsicle to her. At first, she was dumbfounded, but soon revealed a little smile on her features, accepting the offer.

“T-thank you, R-Ritsu-kun...” 

She promised herself for returning the favor one day.

“You cooked for me?” Wei Wuxian’s surprise was enough to keep him from having to hide a laugh at Ritsu’s state, and for a moment, all he could do was stare at the two boys. Then, slowly, wonder gave way to gratitude and into delight as his face broke into a wide grin. 

“Did Lan Zhan tell you the day? No matter--let’s go eat before it gets cold, since you’ve put in all this work!” he announced happily, gesturing for the two of them to lead the way. “Especially something all the way from your home. Unagi was ‘eel’, wasn’t it? What’s the rest? No, no, wait, I’ll find out soon enough, won’t I? Thank you!”

He dropped the last part casually, as if it were an afterthought, but the softness crept into his tone anyway.

“Ritsu-chan...”

She tried.

She tried not only to keep the tears back, not only to keep her chest from heaving, but tried to keep the brown of her iris from going red. Her nails dug into her palms hard enough to leave marks, hard enough to break the skin in places. Jihiko’s whole body trembled from trying but in the end, it wasn’t enough. 

A sob escaped her and Jihiko buried her face into her now bloody palms. There were words stuck in her throat but she couldn’t get them out, only the crying. It felt awful; this was not the sort of cathartic from the movies or late at night. Jihiko had seen this sort of crying before, in the hospital, when a patient died and all that was left were those broken hearted in grief. 

This was like losing something. This was grief. 

“Ritsu-chan, I am a monster.” Her voice cracked, choked on the tears, and the words were stuttering. “I’m not human. I’ve done awful things, I’m so sorry.”

Usually he'd eventually stumble across Eleven and depart, but even she remains absent. It's not so bad when the man isn't irate for some childish reason and Ritsu isn't being purposefully antagonistic. It's almost civilized. After a moment, Ritsu shrugs slightly. ❛ Okay then, if you want, Chuuya-san. ❜

Chuuya snorts at the question.

It’s an unusual request, he knows that much, but he’s never much liked when the others called him by his surname. It felt clunky and impersonal and Chuuya wanted to cling to anything that makes him feel more human, even if it’s something that no one else could really understand.

He’s surprised that Ritsu accepts it so easily. Usually the brat is difficult on principle and Chuuya returns in kind but today is different. He tugs at his gloves, adjusting them, a slight smile on his face. He could almost get used to this, can almost see why Akutagawa keeps the kid around.

“Yeah, yeah, I know what you’re thinking,” he says. He doesn’t. But he has an idea, at least. “It’s not like I’m trying to be the cool one or whatever. More like, I just prefer it, okay?”

There was a long beat.

“Thanks.”
