THIS FRICKING STORY. I’M OBSESSED WITH IT. I literally dropped everything to read it and I’m waiting with bated breath for the next chapter.

I normally can’t do cheating storylines because of how sad cheating is for the wronged party but there’s just the way in which Blair and Dan and Henry are developed that you can see it’s like two lonely souls coming together. Like EVERYTIME they’re talking, I’m sitting here like, you both are so perfect for each other. And the sadness I felt for Blair for wanting Chuck to show up and the desire to tell her to stop expecting it was so deeply personal ahhh

okay so I rambled about this on the discord a while back but I think it's a worthy enough Idea to ramble about again!

okay so, imagine a GG where they allow Nate to develop as a character...so in 3x18 when Blair tells him what Chuck did he's like, "you know what, I really am done." and he friend-breaks up with chuckles and moves out of the empire

sidebar: so when Jack took over that penthouse, does that mean he kicked out Nate too? where did Nate go??? did he still have a dorm room? did he crash with serena or his mom??? was jack just like, "you can stay I guess. squatter's rights." and he was roomies with jack bass? there's a crack fic prompt for ya

So Nate goes apartment hunting, and he's bummed because Serena's acting distant, and Blair is hurting and he doesn't know how to help except to drag her around with him and so he's like, hey, come view apartments with me, and she makes some offhand comment about hating her dorm and hating living in her mother's house and not wanting to get an apartment with nyu girls so Nate's just like, "why....don't we move in together?" as friends, obviously.

they become roomies! Blair exerts creative control over the design, and nate allows it everywhere except his bedroom. they get a posh 3 bedroom on the UWS (the third bedroom is blair's closet) and they are kind of rich kid helpless at keeping house for a while.

dan is around moping because things with vanessa are hard but he's also like "damn, bitch, you live like this?" and he does things like teach them how to cook and egg and do laundry. Dan talks about his relationship problems and Blair is just like "omigod just break up already. and put me out of my misery."

Serena is consumed by what going on with her parents, which Nate understands but is still ehhhh about, and his roommate tells him to get over himself. Also, Jenny comes around a lot because of all the stuff going on with her, but since she's coming to nate and blair's place she's a lot safer without chip wiskers whispering in her ear, and without chip trying to use jenny as his tool to break nate up with his girlfriend, everybody has a lot more chill.

just....Blair & Nate roomiez, and the potential that could come with it: blairnessa friendship, blenny friendship, dair friendship, serena & jenny being family, everyone is best friends, and none for chip wiskers bye.

lol well you asked the right person. i have 43 dair fics bookmarked, but for this post i'm going to trim down the list a little lol.

cotillion chaos by atmymercy is a fic set in s1, where blair's helping prepare dan for his cotillion with serena, since she wasn't sure if she wanted to go yet. but while they do these lessons together, they slowly start to fall for each other. an adorable dair fic <3

the entire open wound series by mysteriesofloves is phenomenal. it's post-canon, revolving dan and blair being miserable in their marriages, before eventually finding their way back to each other. it has a lotttt of angst before their happy ending though.

this is how it's meant to be by an_expensive_imagination is a post canon dair fic (+background serenate) where dan is constantly there for blair and henry in ways chuck never is, and they end up falling in love. super cute dair fic, with a side of serenate and blerena friendship.

brutal by strideofpride is a dair fic set in s2, where after neither of them get into yale, they both are doing horrible, and find solace in each other. they become friends with benefits, before becoming something more. this one has a lot of angst before the happy ending though!!

the milk and honey route by mysteriesofloves is a dair yale au---where they both get into yale and end up falling in love. this one's super cute, and i love it.

the universe is shifting (and it's all for me) by woods_comma_elle is a dair fic where blair re-enrolls at Colombia, and runs into dan on campus and discovers he teaches a seminar there. they end up spending more time together again, and slowly falling in love again. i love this fic, it's blair centric where she's starting to find herself again, as well as falling in love with dan again.

you could call me "babe" for the weekend by pentaghastly is a oneshot about an au where dan's a bartender and blair's a snobby rich girl that keeps on going back to the bar, and they end up falling for each other. i'm a sucker for bartender aus, and this one's super cute and fluffy and i love it.

we are the crossroads by mysteriesofloves is a dairfair one shot, with tons of angst (but with a hopeful ending). there's so much pining and emotion in this one and it's so painfully in character, i absolutely adore it.

The Kind of Opposites Who Do Not Attract by Stapler_Stealer is a post-canon fix-it, where dan and blair keep on running into each other and end up falling back in love with each other. this has to be one of my favorite post canon fix-its, the way it all goes down is entirely plausible to me.

ofc, there's many more amazing dair fics, but these are just some of my favorites. i myself have a draft for a longer dair one shot and a draft for a longfic nyu dair au (but am to scared to publish bc i have 4 other ongoing fics lol), but regardless i hope i was able to help!!

Six Sentence Sunday

cheating because currently all of my wip's are only in script dialogue status, so I'm posting a snippet of the new chapter I just uploaded seconds ago

Chapter 2 of Nocturno (bridgerton/kanthony! firstprince au)

(sidenote for context: Henry did give Bea permission for this)

He tries not to show the misstep on his face, but he's unsuccessful and is treated to laughter. "You meant Henry? God no, he's a proper gentleman and utterly softhearted with my mother and I."

Alex nods, trying to be cordial as he smiles. "Good", he acknowledges, trying to force kind thoughts into the word and not the truth of how irritated the man makes him.

Beatrice eyes him in a way that makes him worry she's about to call him out after she checks that no others are in earshot, but instead her next words are both the last thing he could have ever predicted and the first thing he thinks some part of him was waiting to hear. "I think he's trying to work out what men he'll settle for as well."

Almost straining his neck with how fast he fully looks to her at his side, the question escapes his lips before he can even begin to stop it. "Men?"

"Yes," she says with a smile that has some hidden weight to it that he can't parse while his mind is still reeling. "He's quite gay."

"...Oh." Alex doesn't think he's ever been at such a complete lack of words in such an ordinary circumstance.

Interpreting his one word for something critical, Beatrice raises an eyebrow, and he rushes to fill in the blanks, halfway stuttering as he blunders, "No, not—I don't care that he's gay."

"You don't?" she asks carefully, her eyes almost narrowed at him with how detailed she's watching his every single micro expression. He thinks there's something she's not saying, something he's missing, but he can't even pretend he can guess what that might be while he's trying to understand why on earth she thinks he would mind. "Of course not."

"It makes no difference at all?"

Alex tries not to be hurt at the implied accusation and there's some injury in the way he defends himself. "No, it doesn't, and I'm not sure why you think I would, considering I love my sisters dearly."

"I had no mistrust of that, I promise," she assures all too quickly, her expression smoothing over into an attempt at comfort instead of analysis. With a very small pause, she explains, "I only thought you found it curious based on your expression."

He thinks it's definitely warmer outside today than he had expected, the California heat affecting his cheeks and neck even at dusk. He doesn't meet her eye when he airily replies, "Forgive me, but I'm more curious how you are related to someone so firmly annoying."

love this question and love you dear reader!!! 🤍 i’m picturing blair wearing the same types of outfits she does in canon but in a more mature, and much more refined way. not so many patterns and not very colourful—oscillating between dark, neutral tones and soft, feminine ones. also this blair is Queen of the Power Suit, both with pants and skirts, because she is nothing if not wholeheartedly committed to the Aesthetic and her current aesthetic is Girlboss CEO who is totally not hanging on by the thinnest thread. Yknow. here are the pics i have saved to the pinterest board for this fic for reference:

lots of coats ofc because the fic takes place in the fall/winter and Big Huge bags only because she has a lot of shit To Do and to hold. it’s funny because i am not generally a fan of the s6 outfits but they make up most of how i see this blair dressing (although i think these ones are not so offensive) but again minus the bright colours and fun patterns we see here because we are sixteen years in the future and it is ROUGH out here for her. last dress is how i imagine her snowflake ball dress to have been cut but in a plain dark blue and with the infamous necklace ofc. she is a blair who never got a pink dress and met steps moment obviously but Most of all she is a blair who never got a red dress in paris moment because she is a blair who never left the top of the empire state building

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? après le déluge, moi (post-film fic for The Batman (2022)); Here’s the part where I make a joke about roses, right? (Batfam fluff); maybe i’m just breaking free (took the apprentice arc from the Teen Titans cartoon, mix-and-matched with Winter Soldier, threw it all into the comicsverse); like a weird, murdery uncle you don’t invite to thanksgiving (batfam & rogues) and Paradigm Shift (Damian Wayne adjusting to Wayne Manor, part of a larger au)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yep! Unless it’s very flat out hate, I’ll give it a shot. I like talking to people who leave more in depth ones, and it makes me happy to even get little compliments, so I try to say thank you.

WIP WEDNESDAY

after having suffered writer's block for so long, I decided to go ham and show a sneak peak of the three major fics I'm working on, two of which are finally half way finished!

ch. 3 of Nocturno (firstprince bridgerton au)

Back at home, he’s still aggravated enough to spill his rant onto Nora and June in their shared study. “He's completely arrogant! He thinks he's the one who knows the absolute best in every situation!”

“I wonder what that would be like to deal with.” Nora comments, not looking up from her paper, pencil still in mouth while she does mental math. She's working on their books and he's waiting for her to finish so they can decide how best to spread funds into the community, but she's always been a multi-tasker. “Surely a complete nuisance.”

June laughs from her sitting chair across the room, her eyes still twinkling as she asks Alex, “Is it especially irritating to you since you are the one who knows best in every situation?”

“I'm not like that.” Alex scoffs, making a face at her. “I literally ask for your advice all the time.”

“Ignore, you mean?” June quirks an eyebrow. 

“Whatever.” Alex breathes out a puff of air so he can glare at the ceiling. “He has to know his sister doesn't belong with some bland traditionalist who has never had a thought between his ears. He's doing this to get back at me for managing to take her on a date.”

Nora and June share a look that he can't decipher...[]

ch. 7 of Parallel Lines & Intricate Rituals (firstprince college roommates au)

“You know who could help best?” Pez poses the question seriously, but Henry thinks there’s something he’s not saying within the words that is about to make things very less serious. At a loss, he waits for Pez to provide more clarity but his best friend only waits and purses lips.

All at once it hits him and Henry scoffs. Liam. “You cannot be serious.”

“He's known him longer than you and I have known each other, dearie.” Pez points out.

Henry is fairly certain that he might kill Pez, but settles for a severe glare, demanding through gritted teeth, “And how do you know that, Pez?”

“Do you want me to pass along your number or not?”

“I can't believe you!” Henry admonishes, perhaps a bit more outraged than logical.

Pez raises an eyebrow at that, completely unbothered. “Yes I imagine you can, actually.”

“Since the party?”

“Liam and I have only engaged in the most innocent of conversations,” Pez answers patiently, but also as though he’s very satisfied with himself and having a hard time not showing it. “I’ve all but felt like a nun, I assure you.”

“Next question, Humphrey.” Blair half cheers the flask at him and he lazily returns the gesture. “Why are you so scared to get your heart broken that you'd stay here?”

“Maybe I just have a kink surrounding being bossed around?”

It's clearly a deflection and not a come on by his sarcastic tone, but she finds her cheeks heating rapidly all the same, completely juvenile.

He ducks his head after he realizes his word choice amidst certain company. “Sorry, that was inappropriate.” Rather than launch into a litany of nervous apologies like usual, he looks away while running a hand through his mess of curls and after a heavy sigh, explains. “Just, uh, bad break up, I guess.”
