Over this past year, I developed a habit of reading a book a month. I had to change my own definition of what “reading” was. I thought audiobooks were cheating, so I just didn’t read. That was very stupid. I joined a men’s group at my church called Unravel, which forced me to find a way to cram some pretty beefy books into my months. After my first couple of months of just getting them in under the wire, I realized I needed a better way. So I started doing audiobooks. Not only did I enjoy myself more, but I suddenly found a way to use all this downtime I had in traffic, working on tedious tasks and my fitness. I also found that I retained much more information. So maybe audiobooks are cheating. But I’m 15 books in this year and grateful for all the growth, development and wisdom I otherwise would not be getting because of some stupid rule. The book I just finished by @jonacuff, described this thinking in his book “Finish.” It’s like he read my diary.
