Fair notes about keeping Maidenhood under wraps in a random scuffle. I guess my main attempted point about Blake was how her 'sneakiness' seems very conditional and less of a baked-in character role than much of the fndm presumes. Far as semblance use goes, I was trying to point out Blake doesn't use her clones for 'stealth' so much as split-second dodging aids, propulsion or baiting foes into traps after engaging them. Being slightly less conspicuous than most of her wacky early-volume classmates ain't really saying much.

As for Pyrrha's supposed semblance subtlety…her using it on peoples' gear is easily missed, but stuff like the pop can spam still seems liable to get around with witnesses like Sun & Neptune-and Ren's likely her only teammate/friend who keeps his lips zipped enough for a conspiracy's purposes. If Merc hadn't sussed out how she uses it in spars, they might've struck up a chat with Nora for a bit & gotten an earful (or just framed someone else-Watts' hack gave them almost total control over tourney details). But outside the context of Cinder's festival plot, you're quite right that Pyrrha wouldn't need much use of any new powers, making it easier to keep 'em concealed.

I usually don't even like Maiden!Yang as a concept, mainly 'cause (a) she's tough enough without cribbing from ATLA and (b) fans often seem to treat it as a package deal with Raven Nobly Making The Ultimate Sacrifice Like A True Mom (which seems maddeningly cliche and character-unfitting), but Burgers raised some interesting points vis-a-vis this 'Oz doesn't try to recruit Pyrrha for whatever reason' scenario. Good talk.

Oh, this was wonderful. Thank you for clarifying what you meant about Blake semblance. I never realized she'd never used her semblance for stealth. I'm glad we had this talk. It reminded me that Blake isn't used as well as I remember.

I was going to stop asking questions as I felt I was being a little rude, but I got too ask. 😳🧐 Salem and Ozma are together? How? What happened? Will they stay together, or will it end horribly?

No issue! I do love being able to share and talk about my AU!

Things play out the same with Ozma’s first death and the struggle with the Brothers and Salem.

But when Ozma is reincarnated, Salem finds remains of the Creation Pool that once was guarded by the Brother of Creation. It is through that he is able to gain immortality, and to live peacefully and happily with Salem.

Their four daughters grow and become the first four maidens, journeying across Remnant to help others as their parents taught them.

Ozma and Salem now remain happily living together, both knowing of each other’s mission given to them by the Brothers.

The Brother of Creation gave Ozma the goal of uniting humanity and building a better world. To then use the relics to summon the Brothers so Destruction and his Grimm can forever be defeated.

The Brother of Destruction gave Salem the goal of dividing humanity and burning down what is built. To then use the relics to summon the Brothers so Creation and this world that turned its back on her can be destroyed.

But they don’t need that, they don’t want that, they have each other and that is all that matters.

What are my top four favorite non-romantic relationship dynamics for them? - She and Tyrian got me in a grip, bro. They are so Bloodborne-coded, you have no idea. I also like the one she has with Watts, as little as we have, because he doesn't actually worship her, she's just a matron for his goals and she likes the developments he brings, a good evil partnership (even though she's still very much in charge). I also like the antagonistic relationship she has with Ruby, and how she taunts the poor thing about Summer. It was good, despite all of the flaws. Finally, I fuck with her and the Hound tremendously. God, what a fucking nightmare it was lmao, with how she just treats it better than her lackeys, almost motherly, until you realized that there is a person in there, there is a Silver Eyed Warrior that she captured, tormented, and disfigured in that Grimm. Man, when the horror hits like this, I almost forgot I hate the way CRWBY writes lol.

What season were they at their best and why? - O O F. I seriously cannot pick one, because wow the good moments she has just fucking comes and go without any consistency huh. Well, if I have to choose based on overall enjoyment? Probably 7 or 8, because they actually let her go full-on horror monster, and boy do we need that.

What season were they at their worst and why? - Uhhhhh, I would say...6? Because the way they wrote her backstory and how it went was wack. I love the evil bitches from the start, I do, and I was one of the people who never saw Salem as a good person even before she turned Grimm. But the narrative of Lost Fables was lame, and her complexity was nonexistent because "noooo my man died wahhh :((((" and I...I wish that by itself extended into more? Like, she was sad that what she thought was hers was taken from her, and that spiraled into a need to control the world instead of just like, destroy it for a man that she still murdered when he rightfully gtfo, I guess. Her character trope and the way it all went down are ideas that have been executed better, look no further than the character Father from Fullmetal Alchemist.

How would I rank their outfits from worst to best? - Well, seeing as how both of her outfits just reeks of Orientalism and sexism, both of them belong in the fucking trash. But if I have to rank them, the OG comes first, then her "war" outfit because....what was even there, bestie?

I'm not doing anything H*rry P*tter related, so this ain't gonna be a thing at all.

What do I think this character would be like if they were on the opposite side (good characters are bad, bad characters are good - Huh...Now that's an interesting thought. I thought she would be like Ozpin at first, but then I was leaning more towards her being a hermit trainer who watches over the world in the shadows instead of being a Headmaster, while the Headmasters themselves are either her close friends or studied under her before going into their Huntsman career. I can also see her having her own Huntsman training sect where her students have a unique style of Grimm hunting and Dust utilization due to her being a magician, but upon descending into the world they must never find her again (Baoshan Sanren from Mo Dao Zu Shi is a good example of this trope). A really low-key person.

If I suddenly had control of RWBY, what would I want to do with this character after the events of V8? - First of all, erase Vol 9-. In all seriousness? I would have her kickstart that world domination already, and keep up that level of high stake for the characters to actually deal with. Salem has become a high-level threat, and that would've made the tension not just between the main cast, but them against the world because of their actions, be more interesting. And obviously, have her just fucking blow Cinder apart already. That bitches literally did shit for you but steal the work other lackeys did for you, Salem, just kill her.

Ladybuggggggggg my beloved. I like them a lot, they are both very gender and aro4aro and they kiss and cuddle lots and play video games and read together and there's just SO MUCH potential. Ruby likes to sit in Blake's lap while she plays Pokemon and Blake just rests her head on Ruby while she plays, they are so cute. Ooh that’s ok lol sorry! I was kind of vague. But I can just make a post detailing what the core purpose of this fic is:

Black Horns, White Fang is my fanfiction rewriting the most… problematic parts of the White Fang arc. Alongside that, it also covers ground from before canon even began, changing up smaller things in canon (I.E: I took the “Faunus can only have 1 trait” rule out back and shot it in the head, among other things), and focuses almost solely upon these two characters: Adam and Sienna. Fleshing out their backstories, personalities, traits, etc. and just… doing the same kind of thing for the broader WF too.

Though this fanfiction is definitely not going for the same tone as the original show. While there will be some comedic moments scattered around, I do want to say things get dark.

oh salem. you tragic mess of tropes and motivations and wasted potential

i feel like i say this about literally every character but salem could have been EVERYTHING. she has an amazing voice actress that really could have SOLD this sort of eldritch witch queen that was playing games with humanity. like i wanted her to have Jadis, the white witch from narnia, vibes, or even something like an evil galadriel from lotr; something alien and foreign and maddeningly beautiful, like i wanted to the see the salem that tyrian preaches about and worships

instead i feel like the salem we got was like. boring?? like wow revolutionary she was abused by her dad and rescued by a man and then went mad when he died wow how groundbreakingly feminist. its like the writers wanted to combine damsel in distress with the strong female who dont need no man and like. you cant really do that easily, and certainly not when ur as bad of writer as shawcross and luna.

her design isnt even that Weird either. like cinders the one with scars and grimm appendages and breaths fire. salem looks like a karen at a halloween party.

like i will say i like when they animate her to move oddly and strangely but i wish they did it more. i want her to be lovecraftian in nature. and i want to know what she WANTS

Ehh, Blake did enroll at Beacon without so much as a name change, and half the time makes big speeches, uses her semblance as a target decoy or runs around in white coats. Ilia fits the 'ninja' profile way better, though I doubt she'd make any headmaster's alternative maiden list. Pyrrha also used her magnetism *super* visibly during the food fight, so I dunno how covert she was really being semblance-wise. Weirdly enough, some element powers might blend right into Yang's sporadic light shows or 'just trying out new dust rounds guiz'. That quibbled, I don't think *any* of the Beacon mains could really keep this under wraps-Ren might be lowkey enough in isolation, but there's no way Nora's gabby butt wouldn't spill that tea somehow.

For one, I'm not thinking of later volume Blake but more on early volumes, Blake. Who was mostly quiet during the early vol 1-3. From what I remember, the only big eye-catching speech in the early volume was the faunus rally, i think.

(And having been in the public eye once or twice isn't that big of an issue since Ozpin chose Pyrrha, who is a well-known fighter and has been on cereal box.)

Plus, Ozpin wouldn't know how she would change in later volumes, so I'm not thinking about it in that way.

I do agree that Blake wasn't really hiding, even if in the universe of Rwby, she was hiding.

But the one thing im confused about is your point about her semblance? What wrong with the fact that she leaves decoy it not like they linger they disappear just as fast as they appear. If you're talking about how maiden power wouldn't blend in, then you misunderstood me. I brought up semblances because I was going off the idea that they would go into hiding afterward. As Pyrrha was freaking about having to leave her friends behind, i think.

When I said Yang wouldn't be picked because of her semblance, it was more on the fact that her semblance calls attention to her no matter what. If she had to go into hiding, her semblance would always call attention to herself. She can't be subtle about it. It's loud, bright, and destructive. Plus, it's too tied to her emotions. All someone has to do is call her mean names, and she would probably begin blasting lightening.

And when I wrote about Pyrrha's semblance, it was a mix on how she kept her card to her chest (Pyrrha semblance wasn't that known from how the other characters reacted to learning it and correct me but mercury fought her to learn her semblance. I think.), and how she doesn't go all out with it. Think to how she subtly moved her opponents weapon to when she eventually goes all out against Cinder. It says a lot about Pyrrha. If she needed to, she could keep the maiden power secret or at least make it look like she was using dust.

(I can see why Pyrrha was picked she really was the best choice.)

While she does use it in the food fight it a event not many people would know. As far as I remember, most of the students had left during the fight, leaving only people she had told about her power.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is if Blake and Pyrrha were forced into a fight where they had to keep cilivans from seeing them. Their semblance wouldn't call attention to them. They could go through the fight and get out with no one knowing.

I hope that made sense. But no matter your right about Blake. She wouldn't be the best choice at the end of the day as I can't imagine early Blake who wanted to help Faunus and was forthright with her views would go into hiding.

So that leaves Velvet as the best choice. Or Glynda wished they explained why she couldn't be the maiden.

This is going to be a long ramble - Ozma and Salem, so little is know about both. So little content. But the two are tied together in the narrative. They leave me with so many questions and ideas. A tragedy the both of them. I feel like in order to get a feel on both personalities, you have to take in the other party. The two fell in love at first sight or at first hand touch and never had issues until Salem went full evil. So they gotta have a personality that compliments the other.

Anyway, I love relationship where one party dies/will give their lives for others. While the other Party does everything they can to change it. Selfish and selfless. Save and the Savior. Princess and knight. The one that changed and the other that stayed the same. Wanting to help the other but incapable of it. The way had things been different, so two could have been so much more.

How they are driven by love, but lack communication. So many things get left unsaid to build up because they are afraid of disappointing the other, afraid of hurting the other until that all they can do but hurt them. These ship end in tragedy more often.

I also fall in love with this ship when they touch hand. That feeling of finally finding the others. Of finally being completely after all that time. Or even just looking into the other eyes. Oh, I love these ships.

There is so much potential, but the writers are awful. Those kids should never have existed. Just there, for "they had kids!" "Salem a Milf!" It should have focused on the two of them. The flaws they both shared leading up to this point. We also need flashbacks. How can they waste such a perfect tragic love story.

I hope they don't go the romance route, but with the way the show is, it likely. And I don't want them together. Not because the kids killing (fuck those kids) but because nothing happened to show they still love the other. If you're going to have two mess up people get together, you gotta prove the messed up love. Also, Ozma deserves better.

I swear one day I'll write a story of their tragedy love. I'll show how both mess up and the flaws they enable and didn't able. I would say more, but I don't know how to put it.

This is still a WIP but I have it so far planned to be a book of oaths to be sworn while hunters gain their licenses.

Some notable parts include rightful claim of Grimm bones, to only kill when deemed necessary, and to never act or view themselves above the laws of the land.

The Crucible is a cult that believes that the Brother of Destruction has rightful claim over Remnant instead of the Brother of Creation. Salem has long forgotten that she was the one who formed this cult during the time before she was reunited with Ozma.

Salem now peacefully lives with the now immortal Ozma, unaware of the damage that she has done.

One of the more notable members of the Crucible is Tyrian who will be extremely fun to write.

The King of Vale, Ozymandias Arc, will be playing a huge role in this story for Jaune’s character and the plots connected to Vale.

My AU follows the events lead up to and during the Great War.

Many aspects from canon are kept but the timeline and plot are changed.

Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang lives are shook by a catastrophic war raging across Remnant. Each will go down a path of their own as they fight through the scaling conflict and troubles in their own life.
