can we always be this close? a buddie playlist of taylor swift songs.

some notes below the cut on this playlist:

the goal of this playlist was to create a definitive buddie playlist of taylor swift songs. at a perfect 13 songs, this playlist is meant to best represent the softness and intimacy of being in love with your best friend. because of this goal, songs emphasizing angst or sadness were excluded. several songs, while sentiment-wise suiting this purpose, were excluded for too many inaccurate details/lyrics not suited to buddie.

"stay stay stay" and "invisible string" were almost excluded for this reason, however their overall sentiment and messaging won out in the end.

"fresh out the slammer" is the largest departure from the stated goal of the playlist, with more angsty lyrics than intended. however, due to it's near-eerie accuracy to 806 "confessions", it closes the playlist.

i also considered putting unreleased songs on the playlist, however as these are questionably available on spotify, i ultimately did not. below is a list of the unreleased songs that might have made the cut otherwise, with supporting lyrics.

-my cure: "all throughout the day/you smile and walk away/all i can think to do/is follow you", "if you ever need love i'm standing at your door/i'll be sick inside if baby you'd be my cure", "wherever you think i am tonight/just know we're miles from a heartbreak/because in the blink of pretty brown eye/i'll be right where you are baby", "sometime along the way/distracted by the view/i fall right into you"

-welcome distraction: "i don't know/where i lost control/and couldn't take it any longer/must have been somewhere between/your smile and the way you say my name/i can't win, so i give in/the more fight, it just gets stronger/you're an inconvenient kind of satisfaction/welcome distraction"

-this is really happening: "tell me/you'll never leave me/and i'm not crazy/and this is really happening", "could this be better?/you write me letters/though you see me every day/you tend to treat me like/my name is up in lights/it really blows me away"
