I love using iOS, but not the iPhone; hence I am going back to Android.

Using an iPhone is an experience in itself, something that everyone in India yearns for. Especially the earning middle class which saves every penny for anything new and finally gets a chance to buy one for themselves.

As any earning Indian, I also saved a lot of money and got some help from my father as I spent 77,000 INR of my hard-earned cash on this iPhone 8 Plus, which I got in 2017. Yes, it was a year old by then, but I couldn't part ways with 97,000 INR for a new launch iPhone X at the moment, so settled for this as my newest possession.

I was coming off Moto Z PLay and it was quite a revelation to use an iPhone. First of all, it wasn’t a dual-sim phone and had no capability of expanding its storage (things I knew beforehand). But I wanted to use Apple’s famous iOS interface and to be true, I haven’t seen a cleaner and smoother UI on a phone ever before. It was easy to use, it did things one way and was simple.

The next best thing was the camera and I clicked some of the best photos of my newborn for the past year and a half. The novelty of the new thing never grew old and it was a breezy experience for me to use it daily without any fuss. The battery gave awesome backup throughout the day.

It came in handy when I had a trip to Delhi and went on sightseeing for a day. It was full of clicking photos, using google maps and burning data throughout the day. I had started with 100% battery and returned home after 6-7 hours to see, it had stood the test of time leaving me with 34% left.

The OS is remarkable and the amalgamation of the software and hardware is just on the next level. However, when it comes to usability as a phone overall, the iPhone kind of disappointed me.

While you could plug in your android phone into your PC and its storage would pop up almost immediately as external storage for you to use; iPhone needed either iTunes or third-party software like iMazing for me to work it properly. I missed using Android and just dragging and dropping my music and movie and photos in and out of my phone’s storage, which worked in minutes.

I also missed the usability of two sims on my phone, especially after I got used to Jio. However, the biggest blockage came when I had to transfer stuff from PC to mobile or vice-versa or from phone to phone. iPhone isn’t just cutting it for me anymore.

There are some apps which I would like to use like Truecaller and call recorder etc. But they are not available for iOS and is one of the reasons I will be moving back to Android phone by April this year.

Mind you, the iPhone 8 Plus is a terrific phone to use just because of the UI, but the connectivity with other devices is an issue that bugs me to no avail.
