coming back online to share to the world my list of evan things. if you relate to most these things i title you Evan Rosier Kin
note: all of these are headcanons and may not align with how you perceive evan. most of these are inspired by like tiktoks and stuff, but otherwise its mostly things based on me because i literally remind myself of evan so much
another note: phrasing of these may be harsh!! im not targetting anyone fyi, and i dont mean harm, but i wrote most of these in a fit of self-hatred and when i reread them, i realised "hey, this sounds like evan lol" so i brushed it up a bit, but there might still be harsh wording and accusations
last note!!!: i have no fucking personality and im using this to self-reflect so my fault lmao
wants to be an overachiever, a hard worker, but in reality is just a gifted kid who hasn't fully burned out and is too lazy to actually work hard.
30000 different genres of songs on spotify. wonders if that means you have no personality.
sometimes wonders if people would miss you when you’re gone. doesn't think so.
knows 6 different languages, not good at any.
can't take criticism.
ambiverted. wonders if this means you have no personality.
likes a style, but isn't sure you would look good in it.
supposed ‘smart and nice’ kid, but that's who you were 4 years ago. people still hold the same view of you.
high standards. you've been brainwashed into thinking u can meet them but sometimes, u aren't so sure.
covers the parts of your face u dont like with hair. bonus points if it's a regular ass haircut like a fringe and your parents hate it.
gets overly clingy in friendships. not like physically clingy but mentally?? if you get me
wanna be insomniac. thing is, it just takes you a bit longer to fall asleep.
fluctuating confidence levels
feels like a second choice, always.
cringe culture holds you back from enjoying what you want to enjoy.
the people around you don't seem to care as much as you do. whenever you succeed, you look back and no one is cheering like you always do. sometimes, it feels like you are average or lower, but the people you are compared to are simply even lower and that's why you are supposedly ‘good’.
*does well* “duh, *** is always so good. they don't deserve praise” *doesn't do well or actually just does average* “*** DIDNT DO WELL OHHHH”.
when someone compliments you, you feel pressured to uphold their standard and wonder how long it'll take till they realise you arent so good.
EXAMPLE because my wording is shit: someone told me i was funny and since then ive been scared to text him because i was like 'oh fuk what if when i talk to him next im not funny enough'
deathly afraid of being cheesy/cliche. this holds you back from showing much affection, especially romantic.
shoes are worn half to death.
your answer to theoretical questions is always ‘depends’. wonders if that means-
everyone thinks your friends ‘influence’ you, but really you’re as whack as them, just not as obvious.
a group of people you hate significantly less than everyone else, and one person you love

Why do my curtain bangs curl?
One of the hottest hairstyles right now is the curtain bang, which effortlessly adds charm to your appearance while nicely framing the face. You're not alone, though, if you've observed that your curtain bangs curl, particularly when you're trying to get that sleek, straight appearance. This curling effect is common and can be annoying when your bangs seem to be taking on a life of their own. You may enjoy this fashionable cut without the effort if you know why curtain bangs curl and how to properly maintain them.
I. The nature of your hair.
Bangs, particularly curtain bangs, sit differently on different people's faces depending on their hair type and texture. Here are a few crucial factors:
Natural hair texture.
Curly and wavy hair: If your hair is naturally curly or wavy, bangs are likely to curl no matter how much you straighten or style them. Curling is a natural response to the nature of your hair.
Straight hair: Even those with straight hair may detect curling, particularly around the face, because hair responds differently to humidity, style, and even sleep.
Thickness of hair.
Thick hair: Because thick hair is often thicker and may move more, it may naturally curl or wave at the fringe.
Fine hair: Because fine hair is lighter, it might occasionally be more prone to bending, giving it a subtle curve or wave.
II. Reasons for curling curtain bangs.
After going over some of the fundamentals, let's examine the precise reasons why your curtain bangs curl.
The factors are humidity and the environment.
Hair is most impacted by humidity, particularly the front parts that are subjected to more moisture and weather fluctuations. Curls or frizz are frequently the consequence of hair absorbing extra water due to humidity, which also causes the hair shaft to enlarge.
How it impacts bangs:
Because curtain bangs are shorter than longer hair, they are more vulnerable to fluctuations in moisture, which makes them more likely to curl or frizz.
Hair can also get dry and lose its form due to indoor heating or air conditioning.
Damage to hair and heat styling.
Over time, frequent heat treatment can compromise the structure of hair, resulting in unexpected frizz and curls.
The reason behind curtain bang curling:
Since your bangs are closer to your face, you may style them more frequently than other parts of your hair, particularly if you touch them up every day. This might eventually result in weaker strands that kink or curl, particularly in wet or humid conditions.
Cowlicks and natural hair growth patterns.
It can sometimes be difficult to style bangs since a cowlick is a piece of hair that develops in a certain direction. They are particularly prevalent along the frontal hairline.
The impact of this on curtain bangs:
Your bangs will likely curl or separate in a certain way if you have a natural cowlick close to your forehead.
Cowlicks are often robust, and while styling might assist, hair may eventually return to its natural form.
Inappropriate drying methods.
Your curtain bangs will probably dry in their natural form, which might be wavy, curly, or bent if you don't apply a specific procedure or let them air dry.
Correct methods for drying curtain bangs:
To maintain their smoothness and minimize curl, use a round brush when blow-drying.
You may get more control over the form of your bangs by drying them separately from the rest of your hair.
III. Style advice to avoid curling curtain bangs.
Some easy style tips that might lessen curling will help keep curtain bangs appearing sleek and straight.
Examples of blow-drying methods.
One of the best methods for shaping bangs to your liking is blow-drying.
How to do it here:
Make use of a round brush: Pull your bangs down with a round brush while you blow dry your hair after washing it. They are less likely to curve outward or inward as a result.
Sectioning: To manage the direction of your bangs, dry them in small pieces, paying particular attention to the roots.
Use the "Cool Shot" option: To maintain the style once you've dried your bangs into the proper shape, use your blow dryer's cool shot option.
For a sleek finish, flat iron.
Bangs can be straightened using a flat iron, but use it sparingly to prevent damage.
How to straighten bangs in curtains:
To prevent damage, set your flat iron's temperature to low to medium.
When ironing dry bangs, begin at the roots and work your way down.
Avoid passing over the ends too frequently for a natural appearance, as this may result in an uneven bend.
Make use of smoothing or anti-frizz items.
Especially if you live in a humid climate, a high-quality leave-in conditioner, smoothing lotion, or anti-frizz serum may make a huge impact.
Advice for products:
Before drying, use a little serum to produce a smooth base.
Considering that the bangs are located on the forehead, where oil accumulation is typical, use products carefully to prevent making them seem oily.
IV. Hair products' function.
The way your curtain bangs react can be significantly affected by the items you use. A summary of useful goods and their applications may be found here.
Spray heat protection.
Before using heat tools to style bangs, always use a heat protectant. This shields the outside layer of the hair and helps avoid heat-damaged frizz and curl.
Anti-frizz products and humidity blockers.
Certain products are made especially to keep hairstyles in place and stop frizz in humid environments.
Top product categories:
Humidity-reducing sprays: lightweight mists that keep moisture out by forming an imperceptible barrier.
Smoothing creams might help make your bangs heavier so they don't curl as readily.
Use a volumizing powder and dry shampoo.
A little dry shampoo can help absorb the oil and make your bangs easier to manage if they become greasy and begin curling in the middle of the day.
How to style curtain bangs using dry shampoo:
Lightly mist the roots of your bangs with the product and rub it in.
To bring your bangs back to their natural form, use a comb to brush them out.
V. Advice for various hair types.
To prevent curtain bangs from curling, a slightly different strategy is needed for each kind of hair. These recommendations are specific to curly, wavy, and straight hair types.
Straight hair.
Problem: If your hair is fine, even straight hair may curl a little at the ends.
Solution: Use a flat iron only on days that are required and concentrate on blow-drying using a round brush. To maintain a smooth finish without making the hair heavier, use lightweight anti-frizz treatments.
Curly hair.
Problem: Naturally, wavy hair likes to curl, especially when it's humid.
Solution: For the smoothest appearance, use a round brush blow-drying method, anti-humidity spray, and sporadic flat ironing.
Curly hair.
Problem: Curtain bangs that have natural curls may try to curl or wave.
Solution: You may need to regularly blow-dry and flat iron your hair if you have highly curly hair and like straight curtain bangs. Another way to appreciate the curl is to style them with a little curl cream for a more organic, wavy appearance.

TW:(Body mutilation)
You may notice I don't have a consistent art style and that it simply fluctuates from whatever I need it to be. That can be great sometimes when I need a specific mood in a piece, however it prevents me from getting a deeper level understanding and development of my artistic skills as I can't improve upon it.
With this in mind my artistic journey will require me to hone my abilities into subcategory art styles.
Art styles that I can switch into depending on the task at hand.
Cartoony:
For use when i need to make small or sketches that don't need detail.
Semi-realistic:
For use of comics and animation when it would be ill advised to make it super detailed.
Realistic- stylized:
For use of dramatic panels and art pieces as well as creating good backgrounds.
A subset of this group would pieces that are more abstract with brush stroke. (The left photo has nothing to do with this blog it is just a piece i did a year back)
Horror:
This one has sketchy lines and shading creating dark and intimidating scenes.
Now that this is address for myself, hopefully I shall be able to finetoon these art styles so that I maybe to incorporate better use of poses and color choice.

for you.
@principalles
it’s the pause first. it’s definitely the pause first.
taeyang hears the click and the turn in the lock, hyunshik having already gotten used to his door. he hears how low it is and takes note of the time on his phone, the text messages left unread and the past few days. he’s worked a double and this afternoon is his only time to sleep before covering a night shift. they still get time together but because taeyang didn’t respond to the last few texts hyunshik must be trying not to wake him.
taeyang is still currently - curled under the covers and that warmth simply can’t compare to what he gets at that simple realization alone. he huddles closer, slips his phone snug under his knee and waits for the steps and the shuffles to follow. the shuffles that only affirm that hyunshik is trying to be quiet.
sometimes he’ll shuffle around in the kitchen, head to the shower to ‘wash the coffee smell off’ or head straight to the bedroom and curl beside him. depending on the level of sleep taeyang’s in, they’ll talk about their day, drone on about meaningful things, boring things anything that sits in the air between them before they drift off again.
it’s looking like that’s the route hyunshik’s going and taeyang has half a mind to make a noise to alert him that he’s in the living room. the time he’s spent sleeping in the living room hasn’t decreased but there’s higher fluctuations, he almost spends as much time in his bedroom now and it’s a record. hyunshik says it has nothing to do with him but - well taeyang thinks otherwise.
he doesn’t have to do much though, the plethora of candles lighting up the space around him are enough to catch hyunshik’s attention. that’s when taeyang gets the look next.
it’s not easy to catch hyunshik off-guard, he’s got reflexes that have probably saved employees and taeyang several times in the shop. he’s probably more in-tune with the world around them than taeyang could ever be but it’s part of his charm. where taeyang might look like he’s floating, stuck between the conversation and clouds in and out of his head, hyunshik’s a bit more piercing, a bit more attentive. it’s a gaze that manages to be all-encompassing but still far away. nowadays when taeyang catches it he knows that it’s not wandering. he sees the softness around the edges, and where hyunshik is usually expressive by choice, the expressions that seem to pop out every now and then are worth the time they took to coax out.
like now when taeyang sees the visible confusion as the door closes and hyunshik’s face is lit now by the myriad of lights set up in the living room. his brows rise first, his eyes flit around, scan until they fall on taeyang’s frame, still bundled, still waiting and taeyang can see how they settle, how they take him in. he wills himself to stay put and only to show a smile. a smile and maybe just maybe a blanket covered arm reaching towards the older male to beckon him closer.
it’s the smile he gets after that.
before this, hyunshik had been texting him a series of stories in the form of emojis. little tidbits snuck during tens and slow time in the store outlining how his day had been. with the holiday season drawing closer and closer, customers have been in high demand and even higher entitlement. he’s had a fair share of messages ping his phone throughout the day and he’s done his best to stay up through it all and even more to set this up for when hyunshik came home.
taeyang doesn’t quite know what prompted it, but he knew he wanted to do something. the texts weren’t desperate they weren’t anything new, hyunshik always has tales about coffee customers to tell him. but there was something - something telling him that today would be a good day to do it. so he set things up, called his sister for the simplest recipe he could muster without interfering with the intermittent naps he knew he’d take during the afternoon. all of that culminated into the cozy space he used to fashion for himself now fashioned for hyunshik.
he doesn’t have to say much, just open both hands to further push the invitation to the older male and wait.
‘what’s all this?’
it’s that damned smile, so taeyang can’t respond exactly, just flex his fingers even more, giddiness increasing the more hyunshik moves about, slips off his shoes and makes his way over to the pile of blankets and food.
‘looks like you’re trying to seduce me.’ if taeyang didn’t work so hard on setting up everything, he’d launch a pillow. but hyunshik’s getting closer, and despite how cold it is outside, he’s bringing a warmth that taeyang knows better than any. so he conedes, beacuse his fingers are now brushing fabric, the sleeves of hyunshik’s t-shirt, up and onto the seams, and then underneath the collar. he’s lowering slowly and there’s a kiss there, there has to be but taeyang replaces it with a mug at the last second, the whipped cream he’d timed perfectly staining the tip of hyunshik’s nose.
“i know you’ve been around whipped cream and chai all day but - you need something warm.” all this time together, all the times they’ve kissed, cuddled and taeyang’s brain still sometimes short circuits in the seconds before. in his defense, hyunshik after a long shift is always something to behold, whereas taeyang falls weightless onto the bed, hyunshik is the one ready to grab from him and hold him close. that’s probably where they’d head if the mug didn’t stop him. hyunshik notices because his eyes follow the drop of cream on his nose, to the fluster taeyang hopes the shadows from the candles will hide.
'you’re lucky you’re cute.’ “you’re lucky i’m cute.”
there’s a pause. taeyang gets a lot of those too, but his pauses are him trying to come back from wherever he’s drifted. hyunshik’s pauses are like he’s drifting purposely away, in his thoughts but still centered on things, usually on taeyang himself. it’s unsettling if only by how intense the seconds are, or the air that’s left between them. right now it’s the difference between a mug and their lips, between a smile and a reach, an inch.
‘yeah i used up all my luck to get you.’
before taeyang can even think up a response - hyunshik’s stealing the kiss that was bound to happen, taeyang’s wiping off the cream and they’re shuffling around until they find a position that’s comfortable.
“you’re supposed to be the one laying down and relaxing.” said with taeyang’s head in hyunshik’s lap. ‘letting you lay on me is relaxing.’ said with hyunshik completely disregarding his attempts to move.
the thing with this position is taeyang is completely powerless to the angle when hyunshik gives him attention, looking down at him and flooding his senses entirely. taeyang knows this - he dreads this because he’s supposed to be the one letting hyunshik lay in his lap. he was supposed to watch the elder fall asleep within five minutes of a head massage. “this is cheating. i have to get up and get the food.”
‘you cooked?’ “it’s just fried rice but i know you didn’t eat with how busy it was.” because hyunshik gives him a look like he’s wrong, taeyang stops all movement to stare him down. “i passed by - and saw the line and i knew.” ‘why didn’t you come in?’ it’s said in a whine, in the raspy octave that’s only reserved for the aftermath of long shifts and a hyunshik who is seconds away from stealing taeyang from the rest of the world for a few hours. it’s so darn cute and taeyang won’t fall for it this time.
“i didn’t want to hear that fake greeting before you realized it was me.” hyunshik’s nod is all the confirmation that he’d heard because he’s looking at everything around them. taeyang had been careful with which candles to bring out because he knows the smells can be a bit overwhelming and he’d had quite a few sweet scents that might be too reminiscent of the coffee shop. hyunshik’s surveying and taeyang takes the time to sit up fully and release himself from the hands that were threatening to run through his hair. “and i didn’t want to add to your work load.” ‘but then you come home and do all this.’ “it’s not a lot, it’s like the set up i used to do.” the time spent wondering if it was a good idea took longer than the execution of it. once he started it was an autopilot process, fun nonetheless. hyunshik’s never said much about taeyang’s set up before, he’s always just settled into it when he realized they’d spend the night out here instead. taeyang’s always been the one for big and warm things, he’s often the one doing the wrapping and bundling when hyunshik leaves in the morning. admittedly he was nervous about the reception of this, and hyunshik’s silence doesn’t do much to help.
it might not be the elder’s style, it might be too extravagant or too much taeyang’s thing and it’s the one thing he’d feared. “if it’s too much we can go back--”
it’s not the kiss, it’s more the smile he gets after the kiss, hyunshik’s nose pressed against his. it’s a smile so close, so gentle and so wide taeyang can feel how hyunshik’s cheeks move with it. it’s that, that plus the little nervous shuffles to try and not wake him, to the expressions that passed by as he took it all in, to the warmth and the messages that started it all.
it’s all of this that makes the smile worth it, and the best part of it all. hyunshik’s smiles are always a little playful, childishly happy but they’re so genuine even if they don’t take up his entire face. they read better than any expression he has and taeyang will do anything to see them each time. including letting the male nearly spill the chai on the sheets, disregard the fried rice that’d taken his precious time for and pull him closer, pushing him further into the blankets.
hyunshik says thank you in many ways and many times after that, but the smile is thanks enough. it’s always enough.

Class A Amps Explained & Compared: Valvet A4 Mk.II vs. Pass Labs XA30.5
After years of hearing about the benefits of Class A amplifiers, I finally got a taste in my system when the Valvet A4 Mk.II monoblocks arrived. Despite its cost and inefficiency, Class A operation has long been held as a gold standard of amplification by many in the high-end, Krell and Nelson Pass among its better-known evangelists. Different Class A amps have their distinct sonic character like any other amps, and no, Class A isn’t a guarantee of great sound. But one commonality I’ve heard from many of these big hot amps is a lovely naturalness and liquidity that came closer to tubes in capturing music’s tonal colors... as if all that bias current helped burn away the ills of solid state. Once I heard good Class A, many otherwise excellent Class AB amps seemed a bit bland and mechanical by comparison. This was borne out when the Valvet arrived while the excellent Bryston 4B Cubed was also in-house. While the powerhouse Bryston was a great amp in its own right, the Valvet just seems to have less electronic artifact and more musical blood flowing through its veins, to paraphrase an old colleague. I was hooked and craving more Class A, so I jumped at the opportunity to give the Pass Labs XA30.5 a try. Replaced by the XA30.8 a few years back, it’s an older design that became a bit of an icon as one of the more attainable ways (MSRP $5500) to achieve Class A nirvana. It makes for a fascinating design contrast with the Valvet - big American muscle vs. tidy German simplicity.
What is Class A again? 🤓
First, a quick refresher. “Class A” operation means the devices (in this case the output transistors of the amp, commonly MOSFET or bipolar [BJT] devices) have enough bias current applied to them to ensure they always stay conductive (“on”) throughout the entire voltage swing of the musical signal. Remember that transistors tend to behave like on-off switches that require a certain threshold current to become conductive. This non-linear behavior is called the transconductance curve, and the idea with Class A is you always have enough juice flowing to keep the device in the conductive, most linear part of the curve.
Non-linear transconductance (current vs. voltage) curve of a bipolar transistor (BJT). Amazing we can get good sound of of these things, eh? (Source: stackexchange.com)
In contrast, Class AB amplifiers utilize “push-pull” complementary (NPN/n-channel and PNP/p-channel) pairs of transistors taking turns handling the positive and negative swings of the musical signal. They will only apply enough current to keep both devices on for smaller signals, and as power increases one side of the push-pull will cease conducting while the other side takes care of business. This is a clearly a more efficient setup - no wasted power for a device that doesn’t need to be on - but one that does have one device always transitioning in or out of its ideal operating region. Even if it’s not doing the heavy lifting, it’s contributing non-linearity and this leads to distortion that typically requires some form of negative feedback to mitigate. (If you’d like to go a level deeper on the theory of all this, check out this tutorial.)
A couple observations that are obvious from a circuit perspective, but perhaps clouded by all the marketing speak in the audio biz. Firstly, virtually all single-ended audio amplifiers are Class A by definition, and all Class AB amplifiers are push-pull. There would be no point in designing a non-Class A single-ended amp for audio because it would distort massively whenever the signal exceeded its Class A bias range. Class A for push-pull means both devices are conducting all the time, but there is an interesting catch - if the output signal exceeds the amount of bias current to keep one side of the push-pull pair in its linear region, the amp still keeps working because the other device is conducting - it’s being pushed in the opposite direction on its transconductance curve, towards saturation (overload). This means unlike single-ended Class A, push-pull Class AB will simply start acting like Class B at high power levels. Secondly, not all Class A biasing is the same - yes, the device might be fully on, but how far into its operating region (where on the transconductance curve) has it been juiced? This is why e.g. when Pass Labs upgraded the XA30.5 to the XA30.8, they increased bias current significantly, resulting in an amp that was still rated at 30Wpc but used over 100 watts more at idle and weighed 25 lbs more.
Class A Power Ratings 🔌
With all that in mind, let’s look at the rated power of these two amps. The Pass Labs weighs 60 lbs/27 kg and is rated at 30 watts into 8 ohms, which is literally 1/10th the rated power of the similarly-sized Bryston 4B Cubed. The Valvet is rated at 55 watts into 8 ohms, with each compact monoblocks weighing 26 lbs/12 kg - it’s well under half the size and weight of the Pass. How can both be Class A, meaning they both operate at low efficiency, yet the Valvet is purportedly 83% more powerful in such a compact package? While I haven’t spoken with Valvet designer Knut Cornils about how he rated the power of the A4, Pass Labs is very clear that their 30Wpc rating is for fully Class A operation, but that the amp will continue delivering power with low distortion well past that. And indeed, when Stereophile measured the XA30.5 on the bench, it delivered 130 watts into 8 ohms and 195 watts into 4 ohms before hitting 1% distortion. Those famous Pass Labs bias meters (NOT power meters as on e.g. Macintosh amps) also tell you exactly when bias current starts to fluctuate, indicating the amp is leaving Class A. On my 92.5dB-efficient Audiovector SR 6 speakers, they would just start to wiggle on heavy bass notes or orchestral climaxes at high listening levels.
Valvet A4 power draw at idle. Double this for two monoblocks.
Since I wasn’t able to measure the actual bias current inside the amps, I took a look at idle power draw as a rough proxy. Though the Pass XA30.5 is rated at 238W at idle, I measured closer to 190W once fully warmed up; meanwhile, the Valvet monoblocks idled at around 90W each. So, pretty similar, which doesn’t mean their Class A biasing is the same (it depends on a host of other factors such as the voltage of the supply rails) but it hints to the Valvet not being “juiced” any more deeply into Class A despite its higher power rating. This is also borne out by the similar operating temperatures (toasty, but not burning hot) and the fact that the power supply in the Pass, while having less capacitance than the Valvet, likely has just as much (if not more) transformer muscle. I don’t know the rating of the Pass’s massive toroid but I suspect it’s more then double the 400VA in each Valvet.
With the caveat that this is conjecture based on the physical, electrical and sonic observations (more on those later), the Valvet’s 55 watts are likely closer to the 1% THD point where it has crossed over into Class AB, and not at full Class A. And as another point of comparison, I currently have the Gryphon Essence Class A power amp that’s rated at 50 watts Class A, and it weighs all of 100 lbs with an absolutely massive power supply. Just as all watts on amp ratings are not alike, neither are all Class A watts apparently.
Sonics 🎶
The Pass amp took some time to come out of its slumber after having been powered down for a while, but its famously warm, relaxed character was immediately discernible. After a couple days much of the initial “MOSFET mist” burned off and a wonderful synergy developed between Pass Labs amp, Audiovector SR 6 Avantgarde Arreté speakers and Furutech DSS-4.1 speaker cables. The XA30.5′s big tone, ripe bottom end and easy power nicely complemented the speed and range of the Audiovectors, requiring no softening or sugar coating from the exceedingly transparent Furutech wire. Compared to the Valvet, the Pass had a bigger sound with more generous bass that was borderline fat without ever getting sloppy. Interestingly the soundstage was noticeably wider as well, despite the Valvets being monoblocks which would ostensibly give them an advantage in channel separation. Vocals on the Pass were a little fleshier on a broader, more spaced stage, and dynamics felt a bit more grounded by that extra bass oomph.
Pass’s XA.5-series styling certainly wasn’t known for its subtlety...
The Valvet counters with a faster, more incisive sound. One of the distinguishing features of the Valvet is the use of a single pair of transistors in the output stage. A number of manufacturers have been taking this approach as of late, including Pass in their XA25 amplifier which takes purism a step further by also eliminating the emitter degeneration resistors. The argument for such a simple topology is that no two transistors behave identically, and thus paralleling them causes some loss of fidelity as you can never get all of them at an identical ideal operating point and things kind of “average out.” The XA30.5 uses 10 pairs of MOSFETs per channel, and it’s only when you listen to the Valvet that you realize the Pass might have a few extra dancers in the troupe who aren’t quite as perfectly in lockstep with the music. The Valvet paints with a finer-tipped brush that can trace all the contours and curves of a musical line with great agility; the Pass doesn’t lack for resolution, but feels a tad slower and mushier, like a brush that has a bit of fuzz around it. This is particularly apparent in the upper frequencies where the Valvet has noticeably more sparkle and precision.
Tonally, both strike me as not deviating very far from neutral, but the Valvet has a subtle bit of upper midrange highlighting that methinks is in part due to its silver internal wiring. Silver tends to have a shinier sound to it, and when balanced well in a system it can really bring the details of a performance alive; but if not properly balanced, it risks sounding lean and forward. With the Valvet, the silver character is applied very judiciously, but I did find I needed to use more relaxed interconnects and speaker wires (e.g. Audience) to get the right overall tonality and perspective. The payoff is in the upper frequencies, where the Valvet makes the Pass sound a bit thick and cloudy by comparison. With a suitable source and preamp (the Gryphon Essence preamp was transformative in this respective), the tinkle of triangles and sheen of violins are presented with effortlessly clarity.
For reference, that’s a bookshelf speaker (Role Kayak) with 4″ woofers.
In terms of Class A qualities, both have wonderfully colorful midranges and a fair helping of liquidity and naturalness, but the Pass wears these quality more on its sleeve by sounding downright lush at times. It also maintains this warmth at higher volume levels where the Valvet can start to get a bit brighter and more strained, perhaps indicating where it’s leaving its Class A bias range. Where both excel is in conveying the lyricism of a tune or the palpability of an instrument or voice owing to their resolving, tonally complete midrange presentations. Both have a singing character that sounds and feels so organic and unencumbered vs. a typical Class AB amp. The Valvet does it with a slightly sharper focus on the lines around instruments and a bit more sparkle and dynamic alacrity; the Pass does it with a big, easy smoothness and weighty low end. Though the Valvet has no problem driving my full-range Audiovector speakers to satisfying volume levels, the Pass feels like it’ll be a bit more effortless and stable into a wider variety of speakers given its beefier output stage.
Going out on a limb: based on Gary Beard’s insightful remarks in Positive Feedback, methinks the Valvet might have more in common with the sound of the newer XA30.8. Gary’s observations of the XA30.5 align very closely with mine, and he describes the 30.8 as being more precise and incisive vs. the 30.5, similar to how I hear the Valvet vs. the 30.5. I would certainly expect the newer Pass to have more grunt than the Valvet given its even more massive power supply, but the Valet might capture some of the delicate qualities of the Pass XA25 as well. Both of those amps would make a really interesting comparison to the Valvet.
Closing Thoughts 🤔
Nit-picking power ratings aside, the Valvet A4 and Pass XA30.5 are both fantastically musical amplifiers that deliver plenty of the famed Class A magic with verve and character. It’s no coincidence that after the Valvet landed in my system, the next two amplifiers I’ve sought out - the Pass and the Gryphon Essence - are also Class A. This isn’t to say I’ll never go back to Class AB (and I’m actually expecting a Class D amplifier soon 😱), but after years of swearing I’d only seek out more practical amps that weren’t so ridiculously big and hot, the Class A bug has bitten me pretty hard. If tonal purity and musical nuance are top priorities for you, amps like the Valvet and Pass Labs deserve a spot on your audition list.

Are You New To Archery? Or Are You Thinking About Getting A Bow And Trying Out The Sport? So Here's An Archery Basics For Beginners
Is it safe to mention that you are new to arrow-based total weaponry? Perhaps you're interested in bows and arrows. However, you are now not exactly certain where to begin. With such limitless various forms of bows and arrows, such a variety of hardware, stuff, and insider language – it tends to be really befuddling to a novice bowman.
Dread now not; this manual will disclose to you all you require to think about nice bow release and arrows to start shooting. We'll cover the numerous varieties of bows and arrows, the distinct styles of bows, and what you need to get to begin shooting these days.
So if you're preparing, we have to start:
There are 5 fundamental kinds of arrow-based weaponry: goal toxophilite, subject arrow-based weaponry, chasing, traditional arrow-primarily based weaponry, and 3D bows and arrows. What styles of bow you may want will depend upon which of those styles you'll be shooting.
The patterns will, in widespread, cowl somewhat severe toxophilites that shoot target arrow-based total weaponry may also likewise shoot subject arrow-based weaponry and many others. So it's perfect to purchase a bow that basically fits your essential fashion, however at the same time, is at any charge outstanding for capturing some other sorts of toxophilite you're keen on.
Target toxophilite is shot both inside and out at, you purchased it, targets. These are the usual circles inside a circle kind centered on that you've likely seen a couple of times in the course of a long time. In goal toxicity, contenders shoot in an orderly style at the goals and then rating by an appointed authority.
Field toxophilite is like objective bows, and arrows in that bowmen take pictures at (three or 4 distinct forms of) goals. Infield bows and arrows, you typically shoot outdoors. The targets are probably up a slope above you or in a valley under you – they're now not in an orderly style like goal toxophilite.
Likewise, there can be tree limbs, brush, or some other sort of impediment midway hindering your attitude on the objective. In a standard shoot-in little amassing, toxophilite will stroll a course or way through the forested regions, halting to take shots at every goal.
Chasing is straightforward enough that it should not require quite a chunk of explanation. Trackers use bows whilst chasing creatures that their country or neighborhoods them to bow chase.
Conventional arrow-based total weaponry is certifiably not a standard sort of toxophilite with regulations, policies, and tips like objective or subject arrow-primarily based weaponry. Customary bowmen shoot longbows or a healthful body, wooden recurve bows, much the same as toxophilite has for millennia prior.
Customary bows and arrows are more about returning to the recorded taking pictures styles, as opposed to a scored game. There are no extravagant bow attractions, stabilizers, or other gift-day improvements in traditional capturing.
My undisputed top choice form of toxophilite, 3D arrow-based total weaponry, is comparative right here and there to handle arrow-based total weaponry as you regularly walk a course through the forested areas. The difference is that you are as a substitute taking pictures at genuine measured three-D variants of creatures.
You'll stroll the manner in a touching gathering and stop to take shots at each target. There are likewise 3-d shoots and competitions that offer prizes for the pinnacle shooters.
As I said formerly, the sort of bow you will want to purchase might be resolved to a tremendous quantity via which of these patterns you anticipate to shoot. How about we rapidly cover them now:
Current Recurve Bows
The 'advanced' within the present-day recurve bows alludes to bows produced using multiple cloths and feature a few separable elements. Dissimilar to one-piece timber recurve bows, contemporary bows may have appendages introducing fiberglass or carbon usage, even as the riser (the middle piece of the bow that you maintain with your bow hand) might be manufactured from timber.
Numerous superior recurve also bring down bows, implying that the appendages are detachable, making them loads less complicated to keep. Also, having the choice to exchange the appendages approach that you could alternate the draw weight of the bow you are capturing.
Suppose that you're as of now capturing a thirty-pound bow. However, it might be satisfactory in case you climbed to taking pictures of a forty-five-pound bow. It's way much less expensive to buy a bunch of the latest appendages on your bow, in preference to shopping for a complete one-of-a-kind bow!
They're Used For: Modern recurves are conceivably the most adaptable kind of bow, as they may be remarkable for quite a good deal every style of arrow-based totally weaponry. It is utilized in a goal, subject, and 3-d bows and arrows the equal. You can likewise use recurve bows for chasing at the off threat that you want to, ensuring that you get a bow with a draw weight of at any fee 40 or fifty pounds.
Compound Bows
Compound bows have been intended for chasing. Their foremost advantage is that every time you've moved the bow again absolutely, you want to keep down a little bit of the bow's overall draw weight.
In the assessment of different bows, the cam (gears at every end of the bow) and pulley framework bolsters the sizable majority of the bow's draw weight. It permits a toxophilite to preserve the kneel for longer time frames with little exertion.
Compound bows are additionally utilized in objective toxophilite and subject arrow-based total weaponry, however not exactly as much as recurve bows, which are the solitary kind authorized in Olympic correct arrow-based total weaponry.
They're Used For: Compound bows are essentially utilizing for chasing. However, it could be used in one-of-a-kind kinds of bows and arrows.
Longbows and Wooden Recurve Bows
Longbows and one-piece wooden recurve bows are the move-to bows for traditional bows and arrows. They can likewise be applied in goal, area, and three-D projections and hands additionally.
In case you're often eager for traditional toxophilite, a longbow or wooden recurve would be the right sort of bow for you. You can, in any case, shoot them in exclusive types of bows and arrows. However, they're no longer exactly as reducing facet as huge numbers of the extra current bows.
In case you are eager for longbows, you can study this page approximately longbows versus recurve bows or this guide for starting in standard toxophilite.
They're Used For: Great for standard bows and arrows; however may be shot in one-of-a-kind kinds of toxophilite.
Whenever you've got sorted out what varieties of toxophilite you are keen on, simply because of the kind of bow you may require, you'll want to locate the suitable bolts on your bow.
Today bolts produce a huge variety of sorts materials, all and sundry having their qualities and shortcomings. Using fiberglass, carbon, aluminum, aluminum-carbon composite, and timber personally, bolts are currently made.
Legitimate Shooting Form
There are two additives in bows and arrows that nearly all toxophilites will concur are main: Form and Accuracy. A suitable structure is pressing in bows and arrows. Being that it's far easier to benefit proficiency with a first-rate propensity than it's miles to supplant a horrible one, it is important to the cognizance of having tremendous shape all along.
In case you are new to toxophilite, make sure you don't begin with a bow with a draw weight that is excessively hefty for you. It's a massively improved plan to begin low and flow regularly up.
The shape is particularly vital to recurve bow toxophilite because the appendages of a recurve bow are lighter and irrelevant conduct should force the bow–making bolts to veer askew.
Your Shot Sequence
A shot succession is genuinely one more technique of pronouncing "all which you do while you shoot every bolt." So, as an example: Standing upright, knocking your bolt, stepping your bow returned, pointing ultimately delivering the bolt – is the shot grouping.
Next is a novice shot succession to kick you off shooting these days; you could normally switch things up later on as you get greater able at shooting.
Legitimate Stance
In case you're correctly given, your bow should be held on your left hand, and also you have to continue to be on the ninety-diploma factor to the goal. You are implying that the out of doors of your left foot has to confront the aim in an orderly style.
Remain together with your toes shoulder-width separated, zeroing into your stance as you step the bow back. Your eyes should both be open and have to continue to be zeroed in on the objective from before you circulate the bow around – till the bolt has hit the goal.
Nocking the Arrow
The nock is simply the piece of the rear of the bolt that snares onto the bowstring. Nock the bolt beneath the nocking point (the steel ring at the bowstring). Ensure that you pay attention to an actual snap because the bolt nocks onto the bowstring.
The file plume (the abnormal hued quill or vane to your bolt) must confront away from the bow for maximum arrangements. It can fluctuate for compound bows with drop-away bolts rests or exclusive codecs.
Bowstring Grip
There are multiple diverse strategies to grasp the bowstring while you pass back the bow and deliver the bolt; we will do two or three of them here.
For one component, you shouldn't maintain the bolt by using any stretch of the imagination. If the bolt is correctly knocking on the bolt, the nock has to seize the bowstring without everybody else. Your palms must preserve the real bowstring.
Hold the bowstring with the listing, center, and ring hands. Utilize simply the tremendous piece of your arms beyond the fingertips, however no longer so far that it's in the primary joint of your palms.
Use whichever any such feels greater characteristic and agreeable to you. Likewise, you should utilize transport assistance in case you are favored now not to hold the bow with your arms. A shipping help is a little system that has the bowstring and delivers it using a trigger.
Drawing the Bow
To draw the bow, pass back the string along your bow arm (your left arm in case you're correct given). You need to appeal to the bow an immediate line again to the anchor factor throughout.
Your anchor factor is in which you keep your draw hand at full draw even as you are focusing on the goal. It is usually the jaw, nose, or upper cheek for first-rate people.
When you step the bow again, try to attend to utilizing the muscles on your return. Your shoulder bones must circulate towards each other.
Anchor Point
Use whichever anchor point as depicted above generally feels sizable and functional to you. In case you're utilizing a satisfactory bow release for searching, the bowstring should contact both your jawline and your nostril; this could assist even as pointing along with your corporation.
In this anchor point, the pointer is about in reality under your jaw bone. Your mouth has to be closed along with your teeth collectively. It might help if you didn't have something disrupting the entirety, which implies no gum for your mouth.
In an excellent global, your bow hand, elbow, and your draw hand should all be in an orderly style if you have the bow back at full draw—retaining each of your shoulders lower than this line at the same time as nevertheless keeping a casual stance.
Focus
Focus on the objective. You can make use of a bow sight or use different pointing methods if you're capturing your bow without a photograph.
Delivery the Arrow
Delivery the bolt through intending to pull your shoulder bones in the direction of each other, retaining the fingers of your draw hand loosened up enough, so the bolt nearly offers all on my own after you get to the perfect point.

How do you do lineart? Im trying to do digital but lines are my weakness
hi anon! i assume you’re asking me how i do my lines. first of all, i’m really flattered that you thought of me ; o; ! secondly… i don’t know how to tell you this, but my lines are awful. still, i’ll try my best
i’ll do my best to explain both on Sai and Clip Studio Paint (but i mostly use the latter). if you use any other art program, um… you’ll have to Google the brushes i use. i’m sorry
so first, you get your sketch! (yeah yeah generic Keith bust, but it’s 6am when i started)
i turn the opacity down so you can see what you’re doing better. then you take out your trusty lineart pen. what you use is completely up to you, but i prefer the G-pen on CSP. on Sai, i have these settings (it’s also a pencil tool!)
i do the hair first, in size 4 (the thickest out of anything tbh) AND MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A NEW LAYER BEFOREHAND AAAAA
new layer for the body! this time, i go size 3
nice!! okay. details and shit go on a new layer. i fluctuate between size 2 and 3 depending
beautiful! take off the sketch and–
….. yeah. okay. it looks like that. this is my least favourite part - fixing the damn thing. you can do this in a new layer, too (DON’T ASK HOW MANY LINEART LAYERS I USUALLY HAVE) (also get a folder for these layers or you’ll die)
as it’s still… early (6:35) i’m too damn tired to try and fix it up asdfg but there you go! the Cyan (read: likely inefficient) way of lineart! what you can also do is you can colour the lineart in the same colour as the colours you wanna use. see the Wendy in this for reference
and that’s about all i can teach you!! don’t be afraid to go thicker, or thinner, depending on preference and style. don’t go too thin, or you’ll never see the lines again and you’ll be tilting your screen like WHOEVER SAID THIN = BETTER CAN KISS MY ASS
i hope i helped ; o; if not, then i’m sorry sdfgh
please show me your art when you’re done!! i’d love to see it

First it was the corset, then came the girdle, and finally the modern day brassiere. Over the centuries fashion has changed and the desired shape of breasts has changed with it. These special undergarments offer modesty, support during activity, and the enhancement of the female form.
Women today basically wear bras for the same reasons. They keep the girls perky and provide support, especially during more intense physical activity. Fashion has evolved, so special bras are necessary for different outfits.
Benefits of Going Bra-Free
Even though most of us wear one, research is showing that the 70s may have been onto something with their bra burnings. There’s a surprisingly controversial link to bras and breast cancer. Several studies show that sleeping in a bra, underwire, or tightly fitting bras suppress lymphatic flow. When the lymphatic system can’t drain properly because of breast restriction, it may contribute to breast cancer.
There are easy ways to support lymphatic health at home, and wearing a better bra (or no bra at all) could be one of them!
Built-in Breast Support
During puberty, the breasts and surrounding chest tissue are developing. Ligaments in the breast tissue, called Cooper’s ligaments are thin tissues that weave through the breast, and attach to the chest to support the breast. These muscles support the breasts during development and beyond, however they begin to atrophy the older we get.
One 2016 study found that this support structure significantly decreased starting at age 45, while elasticity started to decrease by a woman’s mid 20s. This may largely be due to our bra habits. Once the muscles have atrophied, it can be very difficult to get them back in working order. So a training bra may be one of the worst things a young girl can wear.
Going Bra-Free
The evidence seems to suggest that going braless is the best option if possible. However, for those who aren’t comfortable going braless in public, or who feel more comfortable with some support, this isn’t the best option. Buying a healthy bra that allows the best lymphatic flow possible minimizes the potential damage caused by the contraption, while still providing the needed perks.
The Healthiest Bra Materials
Bras vary widely from sexy, lacy pushup models, to plain Jane cotton white. A few guidelines to follow when choosing a bra:
Choose a bra made with breathable (and preferably organic) fabric.
Organic cotton and bamboo are good choices.
Watch out for latex straps or nickel closures, which can be irritating to those who are sensitive to these materials.
A breathable fabric wicks away moisture to keep the chest area cool and comfortable. Our bodies eliminate toxins in sweat, so trapping that all inside a sweaty bra isn’t just uncomfortable, but unhealthy. Some have even postulated that tight undergarments may be a contributing factor to cancer as it inhibits the body’s natural cooling mechanism.
One case study of a 34-year-old woman found that her Mondor’s disease was most likely caused by her constricting bra. This rare disease is when a vein just under the breast tissue or chest becomes inflamed. Medical professionals suspected that tight-fitting bras and girdles are the primary culprit.
Ditch the Underwire… Maybe
As I mentioned earlier, several studies have shown and some experts agree that the metal underwire in our bras could be contributing to breast health problems. On the other side there are those who adamantly disagree with this evidence, most notably the Komen foundation and the American Cancer Society. I’ve opted for a bra without underwire just in case the evidence is true, and I’m more comfortable without it anyway. Tight or cheap underwire digging into the chest can also cause skin irritation, shoulder and neck tension, and even headaches.
A regular underwire bra isn’t designed to work without the added support, so simply removing the wire from the bra can create an ill-fitting result. There are plenty of bras designed to hold shape without plastic or metal running through the bottom.
The Perfect-Fitting Bra
A shocking number of women are going around in poorly fitting bras. This can be due to a number of reasons, but isn’t too hard to remedy. Here are some tips to keep in mind when fitting a bra:
The band on the bra should be comfortably snug, but not restricting. If it’s sliding around, then a tighter band is needed.
If the band is leaving red marks or the skin is bulging, it’s too tight.
The breasts shouldn’t be bulging out of the cups on the sides or top.
Neither should the bra look wrinkly or puckered, meaning it’s too large.
For those having trouble finding the perfect bra, a fitting with a professional can be helpful.
Another note: Heavily padded bras, like pushup bras, or even T-shirt bras push the breasts into a more pleasing shape. However, this artificial manipulation of the breast tissue isn’t necessarily healthy. The sexy, lacy, push-up bra in the store probably won’t be the one that’s healthiest. A comfortable, healthy bra can be worth giving up some frills for.
Consider Your Stage in Life
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and menopause are times of hormonal change when the breasts fluctuate in size. A bra that has flexible, stretchy fabric helps to accommodate for these often rapid changes. It will also allow freedom and movement of the breast tissue for healthy lymphatic flow and detox.
Unlike our circulatory system where the heart is the pump, the lymphatic system relies on physical movement to flow properly. So a little bounce in the bra is actually a good thing! Dry brushing is another great way to stimulate lymphatic flow.
The Healthiest Bra for Activity
Those involved in jostling sports, like running or horseback riding, are typically more comfortable with firmer support. The fabric should still be breathable and somewhat flexible though. In one study of 23 larger-sized women, they found that those running in sports bras with a wide, vertical strap stayed more comfortable than their cross-backed counterparts. However, in a similar study of smaller breasted women, the vertical shoulder straps were more likely to slide down and they were more comfortable with cross straps.
Factoring in Body Size
Those with a larger cup size tend to be more comfortable with wider straps and wider closures. This helps reduce the weight on the back, shoulders and neck, which could negatively affect the spine, not to mentioning back pain or strained neck muscles. One study of post-menopausal women found that those who had larger breasts and body sizes tended to have more mid-back pain.
Ever if the back isn’t triggered enough to cause pain, it doesn’t mean that the body isn’t under damaging stress that still causes spinal subluxations. Subluxations compress the nerves that lead to all the body’s systems, impeding their function. An ill-fitting bra can sometimes cause these issues for women with smaller cup sizes too.
Concluding Thoughts on Bra Health
Going braless, or at least taking it off whenever possible (like in evening or at night), is the healthiest option for many women. However, for those who still want or need a bra for various reasons, there are healthier options out there. A proper fitting bra with flexible, breathable, natural materials is a must.
Unfortunately, I haven’t found a lot of bras that fit the bill and hope more companies start to consider breast health when making them. I do love and wear the Coobie bra which fits most of my requirements.
If you need something on the more supportive side without underwire, look for a wide bottom band and wide shoulder straps similar to this style. A professional fitting also helps make a wire-free style work. If you know of a great healthy bra option, I’d love to hear about it!
Which bras have you tried? Do you have a favorite, or are you a fan of going au natural?

I can never decide what type of art style I want to keep as my main one, like often when drawing, usually i draw in a slightly different style depending on what brush i use..
Idk what to call my “main” style, or even how to stay consistent in regular drawings.. it seems more to fluctuate on my mood

Voltron Legendary Defender Season 2 Review (SPOILERS)
I would like to begin by saying that I was FLOORED by the final battle of the season. THAT WAS A FINAL BATTLE. Although I was worried a lot throughout the fight they were going to end it on some cliffhanger(which they sort of did), it was nothing as intense as last season, but that does not mean the stakes are not high, if not higher than they were at the end of season one.
First off, I would like to note some of the improvements this season made before transitioning into its flaws. I thought the comedy this time around was spot on. Last season, the show was experimenting with its audience, and while it was enjoyable to older members, it still had a younger, less mature sense of comedy and style. Additionally, season one had a more “edgy” shaky feel to it at certain times, and for first time watchers its fine. However, over a couple of months reflecting on it, and especially in comparison to the new episodes, the previous season does look a bit unstable. Season two managed to fix most of that, the comedic style was varied, with most of the jokes being made by Hunk having the punchline of being overly explained for younger audiences who can appreciate those jokes in succession while the other characters strayed from wisecracks and made genuine jokes that worked within their characterization. The one that made me completely lose it was Pidge’s “Spores Code”, particularly for its delivery. It was made with no eye movement or anything to signify her thinking of it beforehand, and the way she followed its use by a delayed “HAH!” before the scene cut just worked with how the audience processed it, as they would be catching up with the dialogue right alongside Pidge’s realization. (And forewarning, I will be referring to Pidge as “she” throughout the review, but I will get to that later, so I hope that won’t deter you too much).
Secondly, the action scenes in themselves were very well done. The way the art shifted to have those lines across the images during intense scenes (not entirely sure how to categorize them) were seen in season one as well, but they were much more prominent this time. They were used gradually throughout the show, with the monochrome beige and red background and line art being utilized in the most drastic moments helped stress the emotion. Especially in the final fight, I felt like I was watching something from Gainax or Trigger. Also, this is where I talk about the show being less “edgy”. This season’s battles were very high stake, everything was on the line, but the show’s balance of comedy and action drama was so perfect that it let things flow better. I think this is also do to the way the world felt more fleshed out overall. I remember seeing in either an interview transcript or an interview on youtube the creators talking about how in season one, they really enjoyed the Altean language and cultural jokes the show pushed, and that really stuck out in this season. The creators had a whole segment on Pidge studying the Altean language to later on come back to haunt the other paladins when she began to use idioms and jokes unfamiliar to them and there was also the whole way the plot of the “Slipperies” fit into Coran’s small character development. Most of all, the foundations set to give all the new aliens and groups unique comedic personalities stuck out, with the viewer even being given multiple scenes showing Zarkon’s desperation and Haggar’s disapproval. I keep using the same transitional phrases, but overall, I truly do believe that this is what made this season such a treat to watch. The creators stopped keeping the villains to just villains and the aliens to just aliens and made the leap to do simple things like have characters like Slav act quirky and anxious or the security guard who dreamed of being like Zarkon. It just helped world build and immerse the viewer much better than the first season which had this wall of mystique and edge that kept it feeling a bit empty and kid oriented.
Now, onto some of the flaws.
Episode 1, 5, and 13 were my top three episodes from this season, with Space Mall fitting somewhere in between them. Episode one was a good transition between the seasons, it jumped between the different scenes well, had good comedic timing, and built up suspense about Shiro without overshadowing or contradicting too much of the mood of the other scenes. Space Mall had a bit of problems balancing this, because I liked all the subplots in the episode separately, but Shiro and his Black Lion’s arc just did not flow well with the rest of the scenes. Standing alone, it’s amazing, for I had the suspicion from the beginning that they never actually left the castle and the way Zarkon and Shiro had to fight one another with their minds was well done. Yet, the jump into the “mindscape”, as I’ll call it, was very sudden and confusing with Zarkon saying how if they died here they would die for real. (Leaving me to shout at my phone, “IF YOU DIE IN THE GAME YOU DIE IN REAL LIFE”) Generally, my main issue was how we would go from very jocular, joke-riddled and driven scene to one so dramatic that I felt Shiro’s arc should have been placed in another episode.
Also, this was the season of Shiro. Keith did get a lot of growth with most of the fandom’s theories being confirmed about him, the way the knife tied into it all and such, but from the way the final episode ended, anyone could tell this season was about Shiro. (And the next will probably be Keith’s). One of my favorite things I liked about Shiro’s growth in the show was that he stepped out of the “Dad” parameters set up around him and seemed like another young guy, not quite on the same level as the other paladins, but he became flawed. After he kept repeating to Keith about patience and keeping calm, I was so excited when Slav appeared because it was so clever to have Shiro develop backwards, in a sense. Rather than having him overcome any flaws for growth, the writers gave him a setting in which he could develop flaws. We can see Shiro get seriously angry when given the right circumstances, and the irony in his statements to Keith help bring this to life even more so. On a side note, I would like the bring up something that might upset the Sheith fans a bit. I feel like this season really established that Keith sees Shiro in a fatherly view, as not only did the animators have the “hologram” Shiro transform into Keith’s dad, but we also saw how similar they designed their eyes and other features (Scar on nose vs. scar on forehead). I was a little worried going into this season because about a week before I had heard some news about one of the creators liking a “Sheith” photo on twitter and everyone blew up about it. I really do not want to see any romance happen in this show, not only for personal reasons but also because I feel like it would not only destroy the fanbase but ruin a lot of the integrity and style the show has just now started to build correctly. To be fair on both sides, the elevator scene with Keith and Lance did make me chuckle (”GIRLS DON’T WANT A VOLTRON SEASON 2 GIRLS WANT A VOLTRON BEACH EPISODE” and I also yelled, “TWO BROS CHILLIN’ IN A HOT TUB, FIVE FEET AWAY...”) but I felt like Keith and Lance’s dynamic wasn’t well established this scene. For me personally, Lance almost came close to be destroyed as a character for me. The elevator scene felt like a bone was thrown to the Klance shippers, and I felt like it contradicted anything we had witness between the two before. Sure, they had a mild spat back and forth, and we got another clip where Lance tells Keith to back off his Lion in a bathrobe and face mask, but then we also got a scene where they “had each other’s backs” and it felt like the writers were just constantly fluctuating their opinions on one another depending on the scene and the tempo of the other characters or for plot advancement purposes without taking time to really delve into how these two characters actually feel about one another as paladins.
Lance’s character problems for me also tie into Pidge’s for this season, as it felt very repetitive in episode two and four for me. I could accept Lance and Hunk’s adventure, but once we got the mermaids in the picture I felt like I was watching Hunk and Shay except with Lance and mermaids. Of course they had different purposes in the story, but when we suddenly got Pidge going to a planet about technology, I immediately felt like the writers were trying to check boxes off character arcs as quickly as possible. Back to Lance though, the one thing I could sort of accept and by pass was the scene with him and Laika (the yupper) where Lance suddenly starts to question his worth on the team. This was a bit random, but I also understand how someone could easily start to overthink things about what others think about them when left pretty much alone, so it worked, especially when Lance proved his abilities later. This was not done for Pidge. Pidge’s planet arc really bothered me only at the end of the episode when she learned her Lion’s true potential. When she first got to the planet, she made a statement about her brother Matt. Later on, when she’s about to activate the Lion’s power, we see her struggling to connect with her Lion and hearing the voice’s of her friends saying how they need her and that helps her focus. This worked with Lance, because Lance had self-doubt before Shiro fixed it by saying “That’s why we bring our sharpshooter.” With Pidge, it was like we had the development with nothing to develop from. If before they had landed on the planet, we had had a moment where Pidge talks about her technology or something or had done something and was mildly brushed off by the other characters, the same effect in Lance’s case would have occurred. We, as the audience, would not have had to been given a whole episode of the paladins being disappointed in Pidge but rather we would just have needed a little nudge about something with how they react to her, like how they react to her using technological or Altean terms. If we had been given a set up in the beginning of the episode to show her being somewhat annoyed, the moment where she hears her friends voices would have been more meaningful as we would have made the connections ourselves. Pidge’s line later at the end of the episode talking about how technology has always been important to her felt empty to. Considering the mention of Matt at the start of the episode, it seemed like they could have used this line to have her elaborate or at least have the audience be shown a flashback or something with Matt that would make her love of technology in the present that much more important or valuable rather than just a quirky aspect of her personality.
Now, I’m almost done, but I haven’t addressed the last part of Pidge’s character.
The bathroom scene.
I’m not here to call this a flaw despite it succeeding my list of flaws with this season. I thought the bathroom scene was well executed for something done for a kid’s show. It really wasn’t concrete clear and offered two interpretations so people could take from it what they will before the writers decide to clarify anything. We are given a scene displaying two bathrooms, both with unfamiliar symbols, but one colored pink, the other blue. Pidge glances between them, and we see a non-identifiable alien emerge, and Pidge says she will “hold it”. I know the majority of the fanbase is jumping on this to show that the writers are saying Pidge is non-binary or genderfluid or trans or such. I personally do not see Pidge as transgender. The reasons behind her posing as a boy at the Garrison are still unclear, as girls are obviously allowed to enroll, and she only raises more suspicion around the people who knew her brother by looking more like them. In my opinion, I saw Pidge dressing like her brother as a coping mechanism for the loss. Looking like him would be a constant reminder to her of what was either lost so she doesn’t forget her mission or it was just a way of making her feel like he was still with her. But, back to bathrooms. I had seen this gif online as a spoiler at first when I took a break between episodes. I was worried they were laying down any definite statements about these characters without fleshing them out, but the bathroom scene also provides two interpretations. If you look at the first half, with the two symbols alone, it makes sense that people can use this to support the Pidge’s gender argument as although the symbols are vague, the colors should be enough to tell her which one is for men or women. Hell, the later scene when Keith walks out of the blue one shows that at least one other Paladin “knows” which one to go in. (I personally could just see Keith saying screw it and taking a chance) However, the thing afterwards, where we see an non-identifiable alien emerge from the “ladies” room, the show also could be saying that Pidge is still confused on which bathroom is which and not which one she feels she should go in. It is easy to also interpret the scene that the colors aren’t enough for her to distinguish, which I think works well for children who are watching the show and wouldn’t fully pick up on all the little things yet. (It’s like that scene in Spongebob where they are in the trench city or whatever?) Regardless of what you view Pidge as, the way the writers portrayed this scene allowing a double meaning was a good choice, as it gave the fans what they wanted while also easing the children and those who are less likely to agree with the gender debate something they could stomach. And hey, if you think that kids should be fully exposed to this early on, consider this scene something they can watch when older and realize the full connotations of if they so choose.
All in all, I’d give Voltron Legendary Defender an 8/10 with the first season at a 7/10.

Believe it or not, I've had a lot of people ask me what I'm like as a person.
Well here is a little bit about me. I may keep this post updated, as I will probably find all kinds of stuff I forgot to add. •I personally think I relate to johnny, dally, and pony the most. •I'm like Dallas bc I'm very cold, and I have trouble dealing with emotions and love sometimes. Many people have told me that I don't show enough affection, or that people easily think I hate them because I don't know how to properly express love or friendship. •I'm like Ponyboy bc I seem to either overthink, or not think enough. I'm (kinda) quick witted and love poetry. I read all kinds of books and I too am young and confused. I also relate to Ponyboy because I am a dreamer, I have trouble keeping my head out of the clouds, and I sometimes don't think of outcomes. •I'm like johnny, a lot of time emotionally. I have depression and often struggle with crappy thoughts. I am a dreamer too, and I'm quiet sometimes. I'm kind of introverted, but I'm comfortable around my friends. I have my own problems, and I'm afraid to talk about it because I feel like I would be a burden. I'm scared of a lot of stuff and often flinch when someone raises a hand. •but I have very little bits of Two-Bits jokes and easygoing-ness. I'm a little reckless like Soda, I'm kinda mom-y like Darry, and (barely) cocky like Steve. •I enjoy dramatic books, or realistic fiction, and I really love going outside in the fall time and reading at the park. •I'm a very tough person. I enjoy rough housing and fighting, and I have a very hard exterior and kinda like experiencing pain and bruising. •though I'm all tough and fight, i hate arguing. I can't stand to see people use harsh words to one another bc I know what it's like to be killed with words. •people who know me really well personally know that my mood fluctuates. I'm still rough, I'm still kinda funny-ish, and I'm still quiet, but I can get really loud sometimes. •people who know me from the Internet probably think I'm mega nice or something but that's just bc I DONT WANT TO SCARE UOU AWAY PLS LOVE ME. •I constantly crave love and affection but when I receive it, I don't know how to react or give back without feeling awkward or rude. •I feel as if I'm not loved, my friends treat me like crap (one reason Im rough and have trust issues) • I LOVE TO WRITE AND I STARTED WRITING A BOOK! (except it will probably never be published or go anywhere bc it's like a 1 in a million chance of becoming a famous author) •I play a crap load of instruments. (Guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, violin, saxophone, mandolin, and I sing a lot) •I've been to Japan •I go through brief periods where I see the good in the world and get real happy •then go back to realizing that Earth is screwed. •I'm kind of a jealous person, though I try to push past my envy. •I hate when people brag, but I feel like I brag all the time. •I cry way too much •I'm scared of commitment and 99% sure everyone I know hates me •I keep lists of jokes, or children's names that I like •I hate when people perceive me as young and dumb. I may be young, but I've experienced a lot more than a girl my age normally would. •I have quite a large vocabulary •my best classes are Language/English, Art, and band. •I'm a very modest person. Both physically and mentally. I dont like showing skin or telling people my dreams. •I secretly crave someone I can tell all my dreams and aspirations to, but I know almost everyone will have the same thoughts/shoot me down for them because I'm pretty sure they know everything I want in life is prolly impossible. ~more physical traits about me~ •I have blonde hair that's either really naturally curly, or naturally straight. It just depends on what time I brush my hair. (Not kidding) •I legitimately use hair grease every day because my hair is frizzy and dry-looking. •I'm one of the tallest girls in my class, and I HATE when I see people taller than me. •I have blue eyes that change depending on the day/weather. Super blue on clear days or snowy days, super grey on stormy days or clear days, and super green during spring time and winter, but also tend to be green on rainy days. •I'm a little curvy-ish. •I have high cheekbones and a fairly slim/angular face. •I think my nose looks like a penis •though my hair is naturally very light, my eyebrows are naturally pretty dark. •my style consists mostly of colorful or black jeans, a band shirt, or a shirt with some stupid/ironic meme or quote. I hate free sprites quotes tho. Like things like "young wild and free" or "beYOUtiful" •I play many sports, though sometimes I don't enjoy them because of my coaches or how much time it consumes. •I wear a lanyard with so many buttons and pins on it that they constantly fall off but I love it (I somehow started that trend at my school but it makes me a little mad bc my 'friend' took credit of that style but they wouldn't even know what style is without me) •I have the power to turn ANY AND EVERY situation very very awkward. •I've been told that I'm pretty, but I don't think so at all. •I get such bad anxiety that I make myself physically sick sometimes (never on purpose) I have EXTREME fear of sickness. (Ironic) •I have rbf and I have it bad. (Resting bitch face.) To those of you who had asked a little about me, there you go. This took me a really long time to do, just because I don't really think about my own personal things very often. I hope this wasn't annoying to any of you or anything. Thanks!
