Kinda quick and dirty, no backing track because I changed the key and also wasn't confident listening to a track without vocals, so I just recorded while listening with an earbud in.

Also took liberties with the second "shout it around town" because I would NOT have done that justice.

Back at it with another song cover, this time the Last Twilight version of One Palm Distance!! YES I chose another Satang song bc I'm obsessed with them lol. I translated and recorded this months ago but only finally edited it all together over the last few days. enjoy 💛

Also, this was edited with the background music so some of it doesn't flow quite as designed this way (would have arranged it a tad different with this in mind) but here's an acapella version—because some of it sounds really nice that way? I'm in love with the harmonies so it's fun to have a version that highlights just the vocals! (Even if the weak parts stand out more to me too lol.) Tbh I was unsure about posting an acapella version of anything but my sister convinced me to share it 💕

Let's Try - English Cover

*use earphones!! it doesn't hit the same otherwise since I listened that way when mixing lol*

I covered the OFTS song!! I honestly wasn’t sure how it would go since this is a tricky number (and a little on the low side for me) but I’m really hyped with the result all things considered, and the process was really enjoyable! I ended up singing in both the original octave and a higher octave that was easier for me to reach, then mixed those together, for the most part using the lower sections as accents. Happily I could actually reach the high “on fire!!!” note with no issues, which I wasn’t sure about going in. I also recorded a TON of harmonies to choose from and I love the slight discordance and chaos in this rendition, which I felt worked well with the drama-disaster vibe of Only Friends. Sound mixing is a lot of fun for me, and this was no exception. This project was 12 tracks high and I’m very proud of it. I love how the last few choruses keep getting more complex, too.

The translation process was also extremely fun!

A few lines are the same or similar to the available translation, but a lot of it I re-translated myself, going line by line through the Thai lyrics. As always, I wanted to stay as true to the original meanings as I could (not that I can claim perfect understanding ofc) as well as make the new lyrics flow and make sense in English, while ALSO attempting to follow closely to the original sounds and rhymes of the Thai lyrics. I did end up realizing one line in the chorus could’ve worked much better in that regard—by changing one line to “if you’re down, then don’t be shy,”—but I tried re-recording with that alternate line and it just wasn’t easy enough to hear in English? It kind of blended away, at least when placed into my project as an afterthought, so I stuck with my original mix. Also I had Ray in my mind the whole time I was working on these lyrics haha. After that I made a lil lyrics video (pretend the soundwave visual didn’t get shifted off beat I didn’t wanna re-export asdfg) and here ya go! My first fanwork of the new year :)
