in retrospect, Sébastien Meunier's run at Ann Demeulemeester was stellar. he did a great job of walking the fine tightrope of 'legacy' brands, avoiding both falling into masturbatory rehash nostalgia but also departing too far from the brand's core concept - preserving the 'spirit' of Verhelst's designs but moving it forward with his own vision.

i feel his greatest achievement was making the menswear equally as interesting and desirable as the womenswear - which even Ann herself never really accomplished in my view. i even grabbed some very pretty trousers from the men's side myself which is rare. i'd love to see him take on a womenswear line again someday.
