Chelsea FC Nursery - Mason Mount
Request: Is so basically one day you got called in to work and no one could look after your daughter who is about 1 so mason has to take her in to work and at first she is scared of everyone but then she warms up to everyone by the end of the day she doesn’t want to leave
Warning: pure fluff 💕 (a lil bday gift for the loveliest @masterclassbaby 🌟)
Tag list: @masonxomount @chelsealover @masterclassbaby
Having a baby and having to deal with super busy working schedules wasn’t something ideal for newparents. Most of the time you succeeded in organizing everything perfectly: bath and feeding time, taking her to the doctors and everything in between but some other things got more complicated meaning you had to deal with unplanned surprises such as your boss unexpectedly calling you into work when it should have been your day off.
“You said you’d have been off today” Your boyfriend whined as his eyes were following you, rushing to get ready and have a decent look to get into work.
“Yeah baby, I know but that pain in the arse of my boss said he needed me asap” You huffed, struggling to put your wool sweater on and therefore swearing about putting your head in the wrong hole.
Mason bit on his lips as your frantic moves caused him to smile but he knew that seeing him smirking somehow amused would have gotten you on your nerves.
“What about Lyla? I’ve training…” He scratched the back of his neck, racking his brain to think about what to do with your baby girl: should he have called Lewis and asked him to look after his niece?
“Fuck” You breathed out while swiftly checking if you got everything you needed in your bag. “I can’t take her with me, even though I’d love to” Lyla was sitting on the ground, peacefully playing with her toys, as you placed the look of love upon her.
“I guess I’ll came up with something” Mason muttered, holding your coat out for you to wear it as you were putting on your boots.
“Thanks” You addressed a little smile to your man, the man that never failed to make you feel loved. Gratefulness filled your heart during every moment you would spend with him, even during these harder time where those loving feelings could have been the last thing among your priorities.
You shared a quick peck before kissing Lyla goodbye. “I’ll see you tonight babies, love you!”
“Bye! We love you!” He shouted back at you before closing the front door and looking at his daughter with a mixture of fear and hassle in his eyes.
“Okay bubs, what should I do with you? Mhh?” Mason clearly didn’t expect for his one year old baby to answer his question so the puzzled look she gave him elicited a laughter from him.
“Come here” That baby, the result of your love, was everything to him. He loved her to the moon and back and would have climbed the highest mountain in the world to see her smile.
“Mama?” Her little voice echoed in the room, calling for you.
“She had to go, baby, we’ll try to see if uncle Lewis can come over” Mason took his phone out of his pocket to dial his older brother’s number but he forgot he was out of town meaning he couldn’t have taken up his uncle and babysitter duties. He rolled his eyes and sighed in annoyance. Things were harder than expected.
“Dada?”
“Cool…what should we do now?”
At that moment an idea came up to him like a genius stroke: he could have taken Lyla with him to Cobham so she would have plenty of babysitters who could look after her.
"Okay baby, you know what? Today you'll come to work with daddy, are you happy?" He was beaming with eagerness thanks to his idea, the best idea he could think of.
"Yes!" She squealed, wiggling her hands in the air happily, mostly to match the enthusiastic tone of her dad.
"You'll meet a lot of new friends, uncle Ben will be there…You'll love it" He tried to encourage her by listing all the cons about this new experience as he dressed her in an adorable grey tracksuit matching his own.
Lyla looked a little confused because, even being this young, she sensed that day wasn't going to be an ordinary one, most of all because her mum wasn’t there with her.
"Mummy?"
"She's at work, love, but she'll come back soon"
Even though she was definitely a daddy’s girl, she wanted to share that special day she was going to live with you but you weren’t there and that was kind of upsetting for your baby.
When Mason took his phone to dial Potter’s number to ask whether it was okay for him to bring his daughter to training, Lyla started trotting around the living room looking for you: she looked behind the sofa, underneath the cushions, under the table but you were nowhere to be found.
“Lyla love, what are you doing?”
“Mama”
If you listened closely you could hear Mason’s heart beat getting faster as he hated breaking his little one’s.
“You’ll see her in a couple of hours, sweetheart. You’ll have a lot of fun with dada!” He stated while preparing the tiny, pink glitter backpack with all her stuff.
At that moment, your doorbell rang and she lifted her head towards it expecting you to enter the house. It was uncle Ben instead, as Mason asked him to go to training together so the baby would have faced the new experience better but that wasn’t the case as she started crying when she realised it wasn’t her mum the one at the door.
“Hey princess, why are you crying? It’s me!” Ben asked, taking her in his arms and lifting her up in the air.
Mason huffed, shaking his head in despair as the last thing he wanted was making his child cry.
“She’s not happy about going to Chelsea nursery” Ben chuckled, kissing her temple sweetly.
“Nope, apparently not” Mason chuckled back, giving Lyla her dummy in the hope she would calm down a bit while holding her favourite plushie.
“Shall we go? We’re running late”
Mason nodded and put his training bag on his shoulder as he grabbed the pink bag with the other hand.
“You look so hot with the glitter bag” Ben teased him.
“Shut up, I drip too hard” Mason answered in kind, making his friend laugh out loud.
The two friends and teammates drove together to Cobham ready to train with the rest of the squad. The moment you got in the car Lyla stopped crying, looking out of the window quite intrigued about what the next destination would have been.
“We’re going to a beautiful place” Mason kissed her cheek, her big brown eyes looking all around while hugging her teddy bear tightly.
When they entered the training centre the first ones to welcome them were Kepa and Jorginho who grinned widely when their eyes fell on the baby girl in Mason’s arms.
“Look who’s here, hi baby girl” Jorgi took Lyla’s tiny hands in his.
“She seems a bit scared” Kepa giggled “hola guapa!”
“Yeah, she’s. Y/N got called into work and no one could stay home with her so I asked the gaffer if I could take her here” The Chelsea midfielder explained to his teammates.
“Dada” She moaned nuzzling in her dad’s neck.
“Daddy’s here, baby” He whispered into her ear as Ben smiled at her, brushing his hand against her leg affectionately.
"Oh there she is, our new staff member" Potter made his entrance in the room with that little joke about your baby.
"Yeah, thanks coach. She's a really quiet girl, I promise that"
"Yes, I just hope she's taken after her mother then" He moved closer to say hi to her but she got scared and nuzzled against Mason's neck once again.
"She isn't anything like her father, mister" Ben joked, earning a glare from Mason as he really loved when people would notice the things he and his baby had in common instead of his best friend mocking him.
“Okay, I love having this little miss here with us but we should start working”
That was a good occasion for Mason to combine business with pleasure as he would train while keeping an eye on the most important thing he had, making some grimaces every now and then to make her laugh.
Once the training was over, all the Chelsea boys came to play with Lyla, Ben, Christian and Kepa in particular. The little girl already knew Mason’s football best friend but as soon as she met the American player she only had eyes for him: they laughed a lot together, even forgetting about her dad who was the love of her life.
Mason couldn’t have been happier about hearing his daughter’s careless laughters filling the room but he would have lied to himself if he would say that interaction didn't make him any jealous.
“Lyla love, it’s time to go home!”
“No!!” She protested, wiggling her tiny legs as she was playing hide and seek with the boys.
“Come on love, mummy would be home soon!” He tried to convince her by talking about her mummy, the most important woman of your lives.
“Come on Lyla, we’ll go on playing another day!” Christian tried to help Mason, giggling when she didn’t want to leave his hand.
“Well you forgot about your beloved dad rather quickly, you ungrateful child” Mason muttered as taking her in his arms, smiling against her temple before kissing it.
The whole Chelsea staff laughed at his joke before waving the loving baby their goodbyes.
"I'm home!" You sang before closing the front door behind you. The first thing you saw was your baby trying to "run" to you and it was the best, cutest thing you've ever seen.
"Hello baby! Come to mummy" You took her in your arms, peppering kisses all over her face.
Mason, who had the biggest grin ever hearing the two of you laugh wholeheartedly, made his way to you, to welcome you back.
"Look who's there"
"Hello mummy" He whispered against your lips, his voice a bit husky.
"Hello daddy" You replied to him in the same tone before giving each other a kiss.
"How was your day?"
"Tell mummy where did daddy take you"
"Where did you go??"
"To Cobham!"
"To - what?"
"Yeah, it was like take your children to work day"
"Mason" You glared at him, knowing full well that wasn’t the truth.
"I had no choice, Y/N as nobody could come and look after her"
"We should start looking for a babysitter" You sighed, placing your baby back on the ground.
"No way"
"How dared you take my baby in that place?" You chuckled, placing your coat back on the hanger.
"We met a lot of new people and there was also uncle Ben!" Mason sounded way more excited than Lyla really was or should have been, from her dad's point of view.
Your daughter still had that look of confusion on her face, her eyes kind of tired and puffy from the amount of emotions she experienced that day. You smiled looking at her, taking her back in your arms.
"It was a busy day, wasn't it baby?" You cooed in her ear as she rubbed her little fist against her chocolate brown eyes, the same as her dad.
"Bedtime princess! Come on, let's go" Mason stated with his arms out for you to pass her to him.
"Did you already have dinner?"
"Yep, we ate some pasta daddy made and we watched a film we've never saw: Frozen" He rolled his eyes and said the last part of the sentence feigning annoyance with her baby watching the same cartoon over and over again.
"Oh really?" You answered giggling.
"Have you ever seen it? It's good actually"
"How many times did you watch it this week?" You asked, your mouth at the corner of his lips.
"That must've been the seventh time this week" He muttered smirking, pressing a kiss on your cheek. You smiled as your gaze laid on your baby yawning.
"Good night, baby. Mummy loves you so much" You pressed a kiss to her forehead before letting her go with her dad upstairs.
While he was tucking Lyla in, you changed into your warm and soft pajamas, a big smile on your face as you couldn't have imagined a better life for you to live with such special people by your side you were lucky to call yours.
Mason came back in less than ten minutes, smirking.
"What's that face for?"
He shrugged and hugged you from behind.
"She wanted her mama to sleep with her, I told her you were coming so she closed her eyes and started snoring one minute after"
You chuckled, your fingers grazing his forearms in soothing circles.
"You tricked her"
"It's for her good"
Mason pressed a kiss right under your jaw, making you shiver "Plus I needed her mama too…"
You turned to face him, throwing your arms around his neck.
"You missed me?"
"You have no idea" He placed his hands on your waist, pulling you closer to him. "I always miss you. I really wanted you to see her becoming friend with Christian and all the other lads…I think she has a soft spot for him"
"I missed you too…well, she's good taste, I guess she's taken from me" You blinked, clearly referring to you liking Mason.
"I guess, but I feel betrayed. I have to be her prince"
His line as a jealous father, madly in love with his daughter, made you chuckle, nuzzling your head in the crook of his neck.
"You'll always be her prince but let's say metaphorically"
It was his turn to laugh as he closed his eyes and breathed in the scent of your vanilla conditioner he loved before pressing a kiss on your nape.
"You've a point there"
The two of you stayed like that in silence for while, Mason’s hands squeezing your hips and moving them along your back.
"But I'll always be your prince, right?"
"Always" You trailed your lips along his stubble quite teasingly. You thought all those dad duties made him look even hotter than he already was so being away from him all that time was pure torture.
Sharing some intimate moments for the two of you had gotten more difficult since the birth of your princess but you always made sure to have some it was during moments like that where she was asleep in her own bed, that you knew you should have seized the opportunity. Mason started sucking on your neck’s sensitive skin as a sound which was something in between a laughter and a moan escaped your lips.
When his fingers slipped inside your pajama bottoms, Lyla’s cry got your attention and made you jump.
“Lyla’s crying” You whined, worried about your baby but also a bit annoyed with her worst timing.
Mason huffed and kept his hands to himself. “Hold on baby, daddy’s coming!” He shouted on his way to her bedroom “We’re just trying to give you a sibling, you could show some respect” He muttered out loud, knowing that would have made you laugh.
“Mase!!” You called his name with the intention of scolding him but the laugh his line and his bothered face caused you, made your intention fail.

from my AU where Tango is a retired footballer (soccer player) turned sports commentator/interviewer and Jimmy is a popular footballer that’s desperately trying to seem Smart and Impress Tango part 1 | part 2
Someone is torturing Tango. That's the only possible explanation. He was a horrible terrible person in his past life or as a teenager or maybe even yesterday—that's the only reasonable explanation.
“I'm being tortured,” he whispers confidentially to Impulse. Impulse snorts and hastily covers with a coughing fit. It really isn't believable but Tango pats him on his back and waves off the few looks they get. Thankfully, everyone is focused on the front of the room—the source of his pain: Jimmy.
If you really want to get into it, the real source of his pain is the changing media landscape around football, the way broadcast television has been forced to make room for social media and streaming services. Now the priority isn't just in-depth interviews with players; it's also about farming clips to put on Instagram or whatever. Usually, this doesn't bother Tango. Usually, he likes when his nieces send him viral posts of himself doing something goofy in an interview. Usually, he's not watching Jimmy Solidarity be adorable.
Someone, probably a fan, has given Jimmy a soft hat, with a cute face stitched on and floppy bunny ears and long paws that hang around his shoulders. Every time Jimmy squeezes the paws, the ears stand up. It's adorable. It's obscene. It's killing him.
In the front of the room, someone is asking Jimmy a long question that Tango cannot process. Jimmy frowns and tilts his head and halfway squeezes one paw so an ear perks up a little, giving him the perfect look of a confused puppy. A wave of muffled laughter spreads through the crowd and the poor reporter stutters in the middle of their question. Jimmy nods encouragingly, keeping his eyes fixed on the reporter. Tango feels a little sorry for them—and a lot like pushing his way forward to take their place.
Not that he'd even be able to form a question if he gets called on. Tango had questions in mind before they started, a mix of the usual post-match bullshit and ones that’d make most players stumble, but now his mind is perfectly blank in a way it hasn't been since he was 13-years-old and discovering what being horny felt like.
Back up front, Jimmy starts answering, eyes serious despite the ridiculousness of everything else. When he gestures he keeps ahold of the paws, like he can't bring himself to let go. Cute—but in a way that makes Tango sweat.
Tango folds his arms. Readjusts his lean against the back wall. Covers his mouth with a hand and tries to frown in a thoughtful way. He’s not absorbing a word of this conference. The question might’ve been about youth teams? Or the transfer window? Or the standings so far?
Or maybe Tango's being punished because he can't keep it together long enough to get through a post-match conference—the thing that makes up half of his career now. At least, not when there's an attractive 20-something sitting up front. This is far from the first time Tango has been rendered completely useless by Jimmy. That's probably why Impulse had decided to tag along today, why he has a notepad out though his scribbling doesn't hide his smirk.
He'll take notes for Tango—but not warn him. Tango needs better friends.
The next reporter has a question of the softball, clip-farming genre: “Where'd you get the hat?”
“A fan!” Jimmy says excitedly and makes the ears stand straight up. “This kid, she tossed it to me while we were heading back inside.” Tango is a professional—he swallows the urge to coo. Around him, his peers fail, aww-ing as if on cue.
Jimmy grins, cocky and crooked. He's scanning the crowd and when he catches Tango's eye his smile grows. He squeezes the paws out of sync so his ears flop up and down one after the other. Tango swallows a second, even less professional, noise.
Thankfully, for both Tango's heart and career, that was the last question. A manager reappears to shepherd Jimmy away and another to disperse the crowd of reporters. Impulse and Tango are close enough to the door to slide out almost immediately. In the hallway, Impulse finally lets out his laughter. Tango lets out a long groan, stopping and burying his face in his hands, letting everyone that files out after them jostle him around.
“This is really great.” Impulse says brightly.
Tango needs better friends.
“Tango!” Jimmy calls across the noise. “Impulse!” When Jimmy Solidarity calls, you answer. They both turn.
Tango raises a hand in greeting. He can't bring himself to move—he doesn't know if he can handle Jimmy like this up close. “Hey kid,” he calls back.
“Good game today!” Impulse adds.
Something in Jimmy's smile falters even as he draws close, moving through the crowd like he doesn't even notice how they all stop for him. Or his annoyed manager that he left behind. “Thanks,” he says to Impulse before turning to Tango. “You didn't have a question for me today!”
“I did not.” Tango agrees. He absolutely cannot handle Jimmy this cute and this close to him. This wasn't the right answer because Jimmy frowns and looks even cuter.
“I like your questions.” Jimmy says—a hilarious thing for him to say to Tango.
“I don't think I ever liked anything the press asked me when I was playing.” Tango laughs. He glances at Impulse for backup, but Impulse is suddenly busy talking to another reporter Tango could've sworn he hated.
“Maybe, it's about who's asking the questions.” Jimmy says and he's looking straight at Tango and his eyes are so big and so brown and Tango's brain is already sludge, from the day and the match and Jimmy, and Tango can't help but feel like maybe Jimmy might mean something, might be trying to say something with the careful way he's looking at Tango with his big beautiful brown eyes.
Or maybe Tango is old and retired and a hot striker is looking down at him again.
“Timmy!” Either way, Tango isn't figuring it out today. It's Grian yelling for Jimmy, of course, from next to their disgruntled-looking manager. Jimmy slumps, the way he usually does at the sound of Grian's nickname, and Tango can't help the pang of worry at the expression on his face.
“Captain's calling,” Jimmy says with a sigh. He backs up a few steps. “See ya, Impulse,” he calls and somehow Impulse had conveniently ended his conversation in time to wave. “Bye Tango!”
“See ya, Jimmy,” Tango waves and hopes he doesn't look as stupidly fond as he feels.
Jimmy doesn't wave; instead he flip-flops his ears one last time.

Hii darling ✨
I hope you're doing well🌹
May I ask your opinion and insight please? How can I differentiate between a Scorpio rising and Sagittarius rising with Pluto in 1st? I don't know my birth time just an approximate time, and it happens to be between this two risings. I have a hard time guessing it. Also do you have any advices for Sagittarius babes? As one, I always strive to better myself but also enjoy myself (even though it's hard in this period + I'm surrounded with negative people which affects me deeply).
Thank you in advance Sweetie and have a wonderful day/night 💗
hi love! Do you have access to your birth certificate? That’s a sure way to get your birth time. If not: Scorpios and sag’s have very different energies and are known to have different physical characteristics so I can tell you what I know but maybe ask some friends what they thought of you first impression wise because our ascendant is most seen by those we meet. It’s our automatic response to our environment. Our mask. So we aren’t always conscious we’re behaving a certain way upon meeting people because we just act like our true selves once we get to know them. Now for a Scorpio rising, the most notable physical feature is the intense gaze. Do people ever tell you it looks like you’re staring directly in their soul? My niece is only 1 years old but she’s a Scorpio rising and the number one thing people comment on about her is her eyes. She has an intense gaze and it’s very intimidating even though she’s an adorable baby lol. So that’s the best way to tell a scorpio rising. They also are known for their thick hair and athletic build. There’s a certain power they carry. They demand respect and it shows in how they carry themselves. And they also are deep individuals so they can tell when someone’s bs’ing them or when they’re in a fake environment with a lot of fluff. They are often quiet and off putting upon first meeting because they’re trying to figure out their environment. So it can be very intimidating when you don’t know them. Do you give people that vibe? Some Celeb examples are: Kendall Jenner, Ryan gosling, Gabrielle Union, Lisa Bonet, Shailene Woodley, Adam Driver, Prince, Lana Del Ray, Frank Ocean, and lady Gaga. All of these people have that mysterious energy in common for sure. Sagittarius ascendant is vastly different. Upon meeting a Sagittarius ascendant you’d immediately notice they are perhaps more talkative and opinionated. Even if they’re quiet there’s a level of joy that would exude from their energy. An approachability. They’re also very funny and will want you to laugh around them. Physically the eyes tend to be bright and sparkly due to the optimism, and body is going to be strong and athletic and can gain weight easily due to overindulgence so natives tend to emphasize exercise so they have athletic builds usually. Slender arms and legs and more gaunt face. Like a horse though some can have round faces due to such a well rounded personality and cheerful disposition. Celeb examples are: tyra banks, Goldie Hawn, Anne Hathaway, Ellen Degenerous, Brigitte Bardot, Mila Kunis, Oprah Winfrey, Paris Hilton, Shirley Temple, Elizabeth Taylor, Ingrid Bergman, Alicia Keys, Jamie Lee Curtis, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Princess Diana and Kim K. So as you can see most of them have rounded faces but slim figures and you can tell they work out, or they have the quintessential horse appearance with longer faces and fit legs. Those people probably have more Sagittarius and Capricorn energy in other places in the chart.
In regard to your second question about bettering yourself as a Sagittarius Native. Sagittarius’s are naturally upbeat people. It is our true nature. We tend to always see the glass half full even in negative circumstances. So much so that being surrounded by negativity can be draining after awhile because so much energy goes into staying positive. I’ve been there. In my experience negativity tends to affect a Sagittarius more because we fight so hard to stay strong despite, and it can feel draining when other people aren’t being optimistic so we have to overcompensate to keep our energies up. If you can’t help where you’re at, for instance if you’re living at home and your family isn’t super positive in energy and that’s why you feel that way, I’ve been there. My positivity had to be internal. You can’t change people. So the work I did like journaling and meditating, to keep my spirits high and keep myself in a positive bubble of light and love, that was all very personal. It couldn’t involve anyone because they wouldn’t get it. Sagittarius’s are usually very spiritual and can see the bigger picture of anything they’re going through so other people won’t get it. Your joy has to be personal. Go be alone and meditate and think positive and read and write and listen to music and rejoice in your positivity. Because it is your nature. Let others be who they are. And when you get a chance definitely leave any negative environment. It doesn’t match your energy and over time it can affect you if you stay too long. But while you’re there, Never let anything penetrate the love bubble that is the Sagittarius spirit. Hopefully this was helpful.

So Who Am I?
Well, I suppose from my first post, you kind of know that I'm not going to tell you exactly who I am, or other identifying information, but I can give you a general sense of who this person writing the blog is. First, call me Kat. That's easy enough. I suppose you could call me Turtle if you wanted to, but the real cat named Turtle might get a bit upset. She's partial to her name and hates when we accidentally call her adopted sisters by said name. So Kat it is. Short for Katniss...or Katherine. The choice is yours!
And as you've probably guessed, I'm not a just bloomed flower, entering into my twenties. No, that ship sailed. And apparently the mid-life ship cruised into my life without me realizing it. For almost a year. Bloody nice realization to have while cooking dinner last night. Surprising it took that long actually. But then, the last two years have been full of tremendous change, health challenges, and death.
Not my own death, of course, but beloved pets and family members.
It does show how much I've grown over the past twenty-plus years that the various challenges since 2020 have not found me curled up on a therapists couch again, crying and paying them to be my only friend. Yay for that.
An introverted homebody, I'm truly happier at home with family, and chatting with my close circle of friends. Not that I'm not open to adding more friends - I just find it so very difficult to actually make friends as an adult, especially as I mentioned I'm more of a homebody. Who doesn't drink. Or particularly like bars and clubs. Or large groups of people. Or small groups of people where small talk must be exchanged. As you can imagine with those fine endorsements, I'm single and haven't really dated much since those days of LiveJournal. Part of that was from a broken heart given by the lies of my first love - and long-term middle school/high school boyfriend. The other just that I always feel so very old fashioned in the modern world of dating.
But I do have family that I'm close to - my mom, who you'll learn about as she's one of my best friends and the person that I try to take care of as she's got her own health issues, my younger brother and his wife, my adorable nieces, and the three furballs who I lovingly call my children. There's Turtle who is the oldest, a 5 1/2 year old grey tabby, Goat the middle child who is just over 2 years orange tabby, and Bear who is the youngest at 1 month younger than Goat and who is a Calico. I love them all dearly, and love that we were able to rescue them and give them great a home.
Do I wish I was married? Ask those around me, and you'll hear I'm always telling them no. But I'll let you in on a secret, I do wish I was. Or at least in a long-term committed relationship. Being single has its advantages - no sharing the remote to think of one off the top of my head - but I always pictured myself married with children. Or divorced with children depending on the day. Having a child or children is so much a dream of mine. And I get that people do the single mom things all the time. I'm totally up for that. Yet one of those challenges that life has thrown at my over the past twenty-plus years makes that more difficult.
Go out and sleep with some random guy.
I've been told that. Not sure that's the best route to take, inflicting potential parent-hood on some random stranger. More than that though, I've known for close to twenty years now that I can't safely carry a child. Oh I can get pregnant the doctors think, but the potential for stroke and death are apparently high for me. It's also one of the biggest reasons I probably never dated much - aside from that broken heart.
Dating means sex.
Sex potentially could lead to pregnancy. Not birth control is 100% effective aside from abstinence.
Pregnancy most likely would lead to death. Or abortion.
And while I fully support a woman's right to choose, I choose that abortion is not something I could do or would be comfortable with.
Abstinence it was and is.

In Defense of Spreading Holiday Cheer Fear
Low-stakes ways to feed your inner villain during the happiest time of the year
By Happy Medium Club’s resident Scorpio, Samirah
Before you @me, you should know that I actually love the holidays.
I thrive in busy, high-stress seasons of life, and usually appreciate the chaos that inevitably comes from spending too much quality time with family and friends. But here’s what I do hate about the holidays: the cultural obsession with being “nice.”
This time of the year and the expectations that come with it are difficult for me for many reasons.
a) mental illness
b) stress-induced tension in my interpersonal relationships (a byproduct of your mental illness)
c) resulting feelings of self-hate that I usually can’t shake until a priest draws those little black ash marks on my forehead (iykyk)
Don’t worry—I’m fine!
I’m not a mean person. Neither year-round nor seasonally. I just personally find it hard to be nice all the time. I can’t possibly be the only one, right?
I feel like that’s a totally fine thing to admit about yourself?
All that to say, after many years of practice, I’ve fine-tuned a very emotionally immature way to help myself survive this time of year the best I can.
You can call it being a Scrooge or a Grinch, or maybe just a capital “B” (put some respect on it!) B*tch. I like to think of it more like microdosing meanness. It’s a tried-and-true (by me only) method, totally not backed by science. It’s a way of helping me cope with the pressure to be endlessly kind during the holidays.
Like microdosing herbs, psychedelics, or prescription medications, the idea is that low doses of unkindness help boost my overall mood and promote emotional balance. In layman’s terms, I just sprinkly dinkly a little bit of meanie weenie here and there.
Before I pass along my wisdom to you, let me again reinforce that this method is not backed by scientists, doctors, or blessed by any sort of mental health expert.
Nonetheless, here are four easy ways to microdose meanness during the holidays.
These tactics (probably!) won’t get you disinvited from Christmas dinner next year. Good luck!
1. Get Drunk & Say Mean Sh*T
Let’s start with the simplest one that even the most genuinely nice person can easily execute. Actually, this one works best the nicer you are! I’ll caveat that this one actually does NOT work if you are either a) too mean or b) too frequently drunk.
All you have to do is have a little bit too much spiked dairy-free egg nog and then let ‘er rip. I like to add a playful little “just kidding” at the end to take the edge off for both yourself and the victim. This beautiful touch was inspired by my mother-in-law. Now, this isn’t a tactic you can overuse, but do feel free to dip your toe in with different groups and see how she feels!
2. Drive a Wedge
Not going to lie, this one takes a bit more scheming, so it’s not for the faint of heart. However, it does do double duty for those of us with certain compulsions by occupying more mind space. This one is especially for those of us who tire of caving on our own plans for the holidays in order to appease others. Have a controlling family member who is never happy unless things happen exactly the way they want? Let’s take them the f*ck down.
Say your mother insists on hosting your family’s Christmas morning brunch at her house year after year, even though all of her children are adults and live in separate homes. You’re tired of waking up early and being forced to wear your old Church clothes— just to only be assigned to bring orange juice for the mimosas.
I’d take a simple 4-step approach.
First, agree graciously.
Second, assume you’re not the only one who is pissed. Start by talking shit to your sister with a new baby. Chances are she agrees, so there’s your first opportunity to plant the seed of resentment.
Then move to the next household. Tell your three adorable young nieces that Santa has been holding back on their gifts because they don’t know where grandma lives, so they’ll cause enough chaos to sufficiently stress your sister and brother-in-law.
All you have to do now is sit back and enjoy the show. Depending on how your family deals with emotion, it will either be a shouting match or a cold war. Either way, call yourself T Swift because you are a friggin Mastermind.
3. Pick a Punching Bag
Ideally, you’re punching up, but that’s not always possible.
But you can make a deal with a good, understanding friend who takes it like a champ. I’m not saying my friend Dom is a punching bag, but he wants to be! Dom likes the attention. Do I sometimes exploit it? Probably, but I do my best not to.
And in all seriousness, Dom’s ability to be a sturdy, yet vulnerable friend who isn’t afraid of my many emotions is incredibly valuable to me. I call this person a punching bag only for the sake of this article, but as described, it’s obviously not a fair position to put your friends in. However, the idea (the hope) is that this person is willing to look past some of your holiday misfires and give you a safe space to display your hostility.
Like with any of these, don’t overdo it, and don’t take it for granted. At a minimum, buy your punching bag a Starbucks gift card or a pack of Shiner Cheer for their efforts.
4. Say Nothing At All
Just get drunk and go to bed early. To cause maximum chaos, be asleep during key moments. Family game night, last leg of the White Elephant exchange, family photos. You get the idea— be strategic. The best part about this one, for the attention whores, is that people will constantly be asking about you and wondering where you are. Let them talk.
Happy Christmas, Grinchie Winchies!

Chapter 1: Genius Little Ladybug
★—–—–†–—–—★
It all started when Sabine Cheng and her parents moved from China to America, where she met a rich boy named Tony, they weren't the best of friends at first, but they would always get into crazy shenanigans because of Tony. Sabine always finding a way to get them out of it. After a while they were practically inseparable, they had each others backs, both in the good times, and the bad.
So when Tony lost both his mother and father in a tragic car accident, and had to take over his parents company, she was there to try and ease the pain. It helped a little, but the boy changed and blocked out many people, only keeping a select few close to him. His personality changed, and he started to act differently, it saddened Sabine, but she knew it was his way of coping with his lose.
She would oftentimes find him crying silently in his office. When Tony opened a branch in Paris France, he was paranoid something would go wrong when he wasn't there, so he had Sabine become a sort of co-CEO for the Paris branch. Over the many years of her being a sibling-in-everything-but-blood to Tony, her intelligence was much higher than everyone in the company, other than said boy.
She moved to Paris not long after, always keeping an eye on both the Paris branch and Tony ( because god knows what would happen if she didn't do so). She even met a baker named Tom Dupain. Eventually dating, and marrying him. Tony wasn't the most eager when he heard of Tom, but he accepted him as family (not because if he didn't Sabine would knock some sense into him). He practically exploded with excitement when he heard we would be an uncle a few years after Sabine's wedding.
Tony was there in the waiting room with Tom, when Sabine was having the child ( Tony denies not having a mini heart attack when the nurse came in). Both men looked at the beautiful child through the glass. Tony was put to tears when he read her name "Maria Dupain-Cheng" and was comforted by a teary Tom.
When Maria was 9 months old, her Uncle Tony came to spend time with her, and talk business with Sabine. None of them expected Maria to crawl her way into their conversation and say "Uncle Tony" in the sweetest most adorable laugh both adults had ever heard. Tony had a massive grin on his face, and gave Maria a big hug and lots of kisses saying " I knew i was your favorite hahaha, and you're only 9 months old. Sabine I think we got a little genius on our hands." Sabine was just as happy and told Tom to hurry and grab the camera.
"Come on say it one more time my dear Maria, show your papa who your favorite adult is" Tony said with a very wide grin.
Maria giggled at her uncle's happiness, clapping her hands. "Uncle Tony, Uncle Tony" Tom just smiled giving his baby girl a kiss and handing Tony 10 Euros.
Tony continued to visit his little genius niece over the years. Maria ended up getting the best education a kid could get, becuase his logic was " If she is a genius (which she is) then she is going to have the best education money can buy, for nothing is to much for my Little Genius Maria!" and with that she could officially be called the smartest kid in all of Paris... heck probably in all of Europe even! So when she gained a passion for fashion at 4, Tony didn't hesitate to get her, her very first (kid friendly) sewing set. By the time Maria was 5 she already knew how to speak and write in French, English, Spanish, Russian, and is learning Mandarin.
Maria had met Chloé when they were both 6, although they weren't really friends, they were polite to each other, which surprised a lot of the other kids their age. She had met Alix a few months later. She spent a lot of the time she wasn't studying with her friends, Alix would get in trouble with another kid on the playground, Chloé would criticise the other kid, and Maria would talk to Alix and then apologize to the other kid. Overall, they had a good dynamic going on, and they (as 7 year olds) promised to always have each others backs to the very end.
When Maria was 3½ months away from her 9th birthday, Tony was kidnapped. Maria just broke down, she wanted to help her Uncle, but she didn't know where he was or how she could help if she did. For three months Maria would only speak to Chloé and Alix (they were kinda shocked to find out she was related to THE Tony Stark). A few days before her birthday, Tony came to their home, with rolls of fabric, flowers, and 'I'm sorry cards'. Maria jumped into his arms crying asking what happened, and "If you're the smartest man on the Earth, why the Heck did it take you so long? How did you get out? Are any of your vital organs hurts? Do you need to go to the Hospital? An-"
"Hey slow down My Little Genius Maria, I'm ok. 1, They didn't really give me much to work with at first, and there is only so much a genius like myself can do with so little resources, and time before your Birthday. 2, I made an anime mecha suit and flew out guns a blazing. 3, Nothing I can't live without. and 4, No because I'm spending the week with you lot before a conference I have in about 10 days." He said while holding his small little genius in his arms.
Wiping away the tears she looked her Uncle in the eyes "Wait, you 'made an anime mecha suit and flew out guns a blazing?' How does it work? what's its power source? And why do you have a weird glowing device in your chest?!" He had a lot of explaining to do.
That week, in her words was 'The best week of her life.' She was really happy for the first time since the Tony-napping happened, although she was sad he had to go, she knew he was safe, and that she didn't have to worry (as much) now.
When Maria was 13, both Tony and Sabine decided to have her go to public school with her friends. After hearing this Maria called for a meeting, her two commanders (Alix and Chloé) came for the meeting, and had a talk on how she should go about her first day of public school, asking questions like 'How do non-homeschooled kids act? What are their personalities like? What interests do they have? Are some barbaric like Alix is sometimes? Will they like me? Am I allowed to talk to Chloé in or only out of class? What are the seating arrangements? Who do I sit next to?' the list goes on. They were all excited to finally all be in the same study environment, now all they had to do was wait for their first day.
•~—~—~—~—~—~—~•
The night before her first day Maria may or may not have slept well due to her excitement, she woke up a little later than she ever would have preferred, getting breakfast, her clothes, the 'greeting sweets' (as Alix called them) and heading out in a slight panic.
On her way out she noticed an elderly man with a cain crossing the street, and a car coming a little faster than what was allowed, she pulled the man out of the cars way without losing any of the sweets, after making sure the man was ok, she gave him a sweet before saying good day and heading over to school. She never noticed the man walking away without the use of his cain.
She still got to class on time, when her teacher walked in she greeted everyone in the class "Bonjour, je m'appelle Maria Dupain-Cheng, c'est un plaisir de vous rencontrer! (Hello, my name in Maria Dupain-Cheng, it is a pleasure to meet you!)" after the introductions she sat down in the empty seat next to Alix, both giving a fist bump, and a smile to Chloé, who looked away as if she didn't care (the girl had an image to keep after all). When class was over she handed out the sweets and went with her friends to lunch. During lunch, one of the other students from a different class was mocking one of their classmates that Maria remembered as Ivan, for having a crush on Mylène and not saying how he really feels to her. Ivan ran off into one of the locker rooms, and Maria decided to go and comfort him, she explained that she overheard what happened and that he should try and tell Mylène about his feelings, listing many different things he could do or say, and that he should stay positive.
Ivan thanked Maria afterwards and went off to write a song for Mylène. Ivan later showed Mylène the song he wrote for her, but was teased by other students near them, Ivan ran away not wanting to be embarrassed more.
Back in the classroom Alix and Maria are sitting and talking when everyone hears crashing and screams outside, the class looked out to see a giant rock thing destroying everything on its way to the school. The teachers sent the kids home in an attempt to keep them safe.
When Maria got home she noticed a small box with writing she didn't recognize, she carefully opened it, instantly releasing a glow of bright red-ish pink light.
"Greetings Maria Dupain-Cheng, I am Tikki, the Ladybug Kwami of creation and good Luck, it is a pleasure to meet you." Maria couldn't believe her eyes "Mon dieu..." was all she could say, before going full interrogation mode "You're a Kwami? What is that? How are you floating like that? How am I able to understand you? Do you have some sort of ability to communicate in any language? How did you fit in this box? w-"
"There is no time, Paris needs you! I can only explain the powers I grant and how to use them, so please listen carefully."
•~—~—~—~—~—~—~•
Soon Maria was running in a red suit with black spots and amor. She ended up facing the 'akuma' as Tikki called it in a stadium, meeting her partner (a blonde furry she decided) for the first time.
"Bonjour m'lady, so what's the plan to take this thing down?"
Without hesitation she explained her plan " The plan is for you to have your Cataclysm ready, I'll give you a signal when it's your-"
"Cataclysm!" The boy proceeded to use his ONE attack on a GOAL POST!
"I said to wait for a SIGNAL! Now you only have five minutes before you power-off."
"Oops" The blonde was really wasting her more useful braincells. After the boy was thrown out of the stadium, Maria was left to fend for herself, and she did really well, considering this was her first non(but sort of) official villain fight, up until she lost her footing and was knocked into the side of the stadium. The akuma was gone before she could get back, more and more people were turned to stone, but it showed just where Stoneheart was heading.
She arrived at the Eiffel Tower, where blonde was fighting stone people, he just managed to get away and actually listened to the plan this time.
They defeated Stoneheart, Maria gave her speech to the villain, and did a fist bump (though at this point Maria just wanted to get some sleep), when a reporter came to interview them.
"What are your names, and where did you come from?"
"My name's Chat Noir an-"
"Ladybug, and we're hear to protect Paris from Moth-Man, as much as we would love to give you a bit more details, we don't have much time at the moment" right on que their Miraculous' beeped signalling they had 2 minutes left " Stay safe, and positive, Bug-Out. "
•~—~—~—~—~—~—~•
"Well done Maria!"
"Thanks Tikki." and with that Maria went downstairs to get something to eat, when she saw her parents watching the news.
"Earlier today Paris gained a villain and two heroes: Ladybug, and Chat Noir. Many of our viewers submitted pictures and videos, but only one of Ladybug came out clear."
"Thank you Ladybug and Chat Noir for protecting us, bonne journée à Paris."
.................
"Maria you're taking self-defense classes starting tomorrow" Sabine spoke, though Maria didn't have any complaints, plus it'll help when fighting akumas so it's a win win.
"Yes maman."
•~~~~~later in Maria's room~~~~~•
"Ok, so you're basically goddess of creation personified into a cute little Ladybug creature?"
"Kwami, but yes."
"And you've existed since basically the Big Bang?"
"Correct."
"... how are you able to float like that? How are we able to talk without any ancient god language in the way? And what other kinds of um kwamis are there?"
"I float with magic. Yes their is a language only for the Kwami, but we've learned every other language in existence, so there would never be an issue with communication. And to your last question, there are many different kinds of Miraculi all over the world, some even across the universe, so I am unable to list every single one in existence, but there are just as many Miraculi out there as there are starts in the sky."
"Impressive... does that mean I could learn magic?"
"As a human you are limited to what you can do with magic, but you have a strong creation soul. So yes it is possible for you to learn basic magic, I can teach you some life magic to help you heal quicker if you get hurt outside the suit. You can also learn other types of basic magic based on what Miraculous you are most aligned to. Surprisingly you have a close affinity to most of my brothers and sisters that are here in Paris."
"Are they in the hands of other Miraculous users?"
"... aside from Chat Noir, only two: one belongs to the Guardian, and the other to Hawkmoth."
"What are their names?"
"...Wayzz is Kwami of Protection, and is the partner of the Guardian. The other is Nooroo Kwami of Transmission, Hawkmoths Kwami.
"Ok, so then I assume the 'Guardian' is who you were with until now, right?"
"That is correct."
"And how was I chosen exactly?"
"The Guardian chose you because he saw your kindness in action, and sensed your strong Creation Soul, he has only ever been wrong once, but I can tell you will be a great Ladybug, maybe even one of the few who achieved a higher sence of life."
"... I feel like you kind of described a Sage, also how would he have seen an act of kindness, I mean, I got my things, went out helped an older man with a cain, wait."Maria squinted her eyes at Tikki as if looking for something.
"The elderly man's the Guardian isn't he?"
"..."
"I get it, you don't have to tell me, it's all apart of the 'plot' like some show, I get it. Welp, good night Tikki, have to get up early tomorrow."
"Good night Maria." Tikki never messed up so badly before, then again she never had a user with such a strong Creation Soul before either... Maria is something special.
•~—~—~—~—~—~—~•
And Tikki was right, she excelled at Life Magic, learning a fair bit of healing, luck and slight plant manipulation and communication magic. Tikki wasn't sure if she should be proud of her Bug, or scared at her fast learning skills.
A few weeks passed and Maria was thankful for the self-defense classes, she even started doing her own training routine with Tikki guiding her. She didn't like that her partner was a flirt, it got distracting and almost got Chat killed a few times. She often wondered 'what the hell did I do in my past life to get a partner like this?'
•~—~—~—~—~—~—~•
Tony Stark was called by Sabine to meet her earlier than they had planned, she informed him that Paris now has a villain and two heroes.
"Ok, so what's the problem? We agreed to put Maria in self-defense classes so she would be safe... is it a boy?! Don't tell me it's a boy, she's to young to be dating!"
"It's not about a boy."
"Then what is this about?"
"She's Ladybug, *sigh* I swear she gets it from you Tony. She learned it from your dumb@ss, and it didn't help the need to protect people she loves when you got kidnapped. I need you to teach her how to be a good hero, good combat strategist, and to give her your support. She already has a tactical mind, I'm proud in a way that she shares your bravery."
"Ffffffffudge... ok, where is she?"
"Upstairs."
•~—~—~—~—~—~—~•
After a slightly awkward conversation Maria started to get even more training, and became a pretty much badass on the field, she incorporated the known fighting styles of: Black Widow (her favorite hero), Captain America, Deadpool (favorite hero to some degree), Daredevil, Wolverine, and some moves from famous villains like, Kraven The Hunter, Red Skull, Doctor Doom, Scorpion, Shocker, and Taskmaster ( her favorite villain). And she used ALL of those skills in battle, it was damn impressive to watch, and then Sabine had a talk with Tony.
〜(꒪꒳꒪)〜Bonus〜(꒪꒳꒪)〜
"Ok Tony wtf? I asked you to teach her how to fight for protection when she's out there, But you turned her into a complete badass, I mean none of the akumas have lasted more than 10 minutes with her! I want to hug you and kick your @ss at the same time."
" Sorry not sorry Sabine, but she is our Genius Little Ladybug after all."

Pairing: Manuel Neuer x fem!reader (3rd person)
Word Count: 6,018
Warnings: rpf, mentions of age gap (not between reader and Manu and nothing illegal) and strong opinions on that, banter, jealousy, infuriation, fluff and cuteness
Summary: The reader finally catches her long time crush Manuel Neuer alone on her uncle's birthday. Things are quickly starting to get heated—sadly it's not the kind of heated she would have liked it to be.
A/N: Most of you probably don't know Manuel Neuer. He is the goalkeeper and captain of Bayern Munich as well as the German National Football Team and every once in a while I find my thoughts drifting towards that adorable and amazingly talented manchild. This story has been sitting in my drafts for far too long and I wasn't sure whether I felt comfortable with publishing it in case it ever got finished. But I found that there is an intolerable lack of Manuel Neuer x reader fics on here, so here it is. I tagged everyone from my general tag list, but I understand if this is not what you signed up for. So sorry in advance and please feel free to ignore this story at your leisure.

It was only a few minutes to midnight and still the dance floor was as filled as ever, an enchanting mixture of young and old people alike. The bass rolled deep in his stomach, making him even queasier than he already was, and the lights, flickering across the mass of moving bodies in sync to the rhythm of the music, didn’t help either.
Suddenly a figure broke through the outer wall of bodies and made her way over to his table. A small smile crawled over her lips, a little shy but genuine, yet he didn’t feel like returning it. He had hoped that she would change her mind upon the disgruntled look on his face, but much to his dismay, she did nothing of the sort and sat down right next to him, just as a waitress passed the table with a tray of colourful shots. The woman next to him stopped her, before she turned to him.
“Care for a drink?”
Did he care for a drink? He yearned for one.
“No, thanks. I’m not really fond of drinking.”
“Shame,” she shrugged, her smile growing a bit wider when she took two shots from the tray anyway. For a second he thought she might actually force him to drink with her, but then she placed down the two glasses in front of herself. Raising her first glass to him, she gulped it down in one swig, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand afterwards.
“Do you care for a dance then?” She nodded over to the dance floor, her eyes and body inviting him to take the offer.
He found that he somehow couldn’t hold her gaze when he answered, “I’m afraid I’m also not very fond of dancing.”
Her forearms resting on the table, she leaned closer, obviously not taking the hint that he just wanted to be left in peace and quiet.
“Then what are you fond of?”
“I think you know pretty well what I’m fond of.” To his own surprise he sounded even harsher than he had attempted to, but the last thing he needed right now was an eager fan trying to engage him in a conversation.
“I do,” she retorted undeterred, “but that’s not what I wanted to know. See, you might not have noticed through all your sulking, but I was actually interested in you as a person, not as a footballer.”
He huffed, although he wasn’t sure she had heard him above the music.
“And you might have noticed that I am not interested in talking about private stuff to complete strangers.”
Sure, he was being massively impolite, but at least he hoped that this would do the trick now. But instead of finally leaving him alone, she shot him an amused look.
“Ooooh, grumpy, aren’t we?”
Now it was him who leaned in closer, making sure she could hear him properly. “Look, it’s nothing personal, okay? I just...it wasn’t such a great evening for me.”
Unintentionally his eyes wandered over to the dance floor for a split second, where a very young, very blonde girl was dancing happily among his teammates and their wives and girlfriends. Cursing himself, he looked over to the woman by his side carefully, hoping she hadn’t noticed. But of course she had, her eyes still fixed on the girl.
“Ah, I see.” She turned to him and the glint in her eyes made his stomach turn. “Puberty is a bitch, eh?”
“Excuse me?” he spat, equal parts bewildered and stunned.
“You heard me alright.”
Who did she think she was? Impertinent woman.
“I don’t think that’s any of your business.” The volume of his voice must have slipped his control a little, as he noticed a group of elderly men standing nearby turn into his direction. Still the woman’s smile never left her face, appeasing the men who turned away again.
“Really? After all I have to sit here with a pissed thirty something man who refuses to acknowledge he let his hormones get the best of him.”
“Whoa! Okay, first of all, it was you who decided to come and sit at this table and second, again, none of your goddamn business.”
Her answer was a simple grin, still not fazed by his anger in the slightest. It almost felt as if she was enjoying to get him riled up.
“You’re right.”
“And?”
“What do you mean ‘and’?”
He rolled his eyes heavily. Why couldn’t she just leave?
“You know, that phrase usually goes with an apology. Like ‘You’re right. Sorry I assumed you’re having a mid-life crisis and bang a chick that is 15 years your junior to boost your fragile ego.’”
“Do you?”
Inhaling deeply, he tried to calm himself a little. After all, he couldn’t afford to yell at her again, not that he didn’t want to, but causing even more unwanted attention was not in his plans for tonight.
“I didn't say that.”
“Well actually,” she looked at him triumphantly, “you kind of did. I never said you were having a midlife crisis or that you need her to boost your ego. Those were your words. And seeing that my assumptions caused a reaction like that, I’m afraid I can’t really say I’m sorry either.”
All right, that was it. Enough was enough.
“Look, I think I have an assumption for you too, lady. I’m starting to assume that you only came over here to rile me up further. And guess what, mission completed. So why don’t you do us both a favour and head off to pester someone else now?”
She was quiet for a moment and for the first time, the cheeky smile left her beautiful, burgundy lips. He had expected her to be a bit shaken at least, maybe even as pissed as himself, and yet the next words were spoken with such dignity that he couldn’t help but admire her a little for it.
“Oh, I would love to say you’re right again, but I’m afraid I can’t this time. And since we seem to have warmed up to each other quite a bit by now, I feel it’s okay to be completely honest with you.” She paused a second, simply for the effect, he guessed and her warm eyes never left his. “I came to sit with you because you looked miserable. Still do, by the way. And I thought you might need an actual grown up to talk to. But it seems I was wrong. You’re just a pouty manchild, like the rest of them.”
She waved her arm, pointing over at the dancing crowd of his friends and their spouses. His eyes followed her gesture and when he laid eyes on the heart of the matter, a hot flush of rage began to swirl through his veins, making his hands clench into fists. Fully set on giving her a piece of his mind, not caring who might hear him at this point, he turned to her again. But the familiar figure that had somehow entered the picture without his notice made him stop in his tracks.
“Here you are, sweetie.” The man cooed, laying his large hand on her shoulder in a protective gesture. “I almost got the feeling you were hiding from me since I made you promise to dance with me tonight.”
She twisted her slender neck to look up at his gentle face, her attention making him smile sweetly at her.
“You know I’d never do that to you, Uncle Hans, especially not on your birthday. I just thought your no. 1 goalkeeper here was in need of some mature company, but clearly he is perfectly happy with the way things are.”
Bewilderment flickered behind the coach’s gaze as he looked between his niece and one of his best players and Manuel was sure that this might not be the last time they would speak about this matter.
“So then, may I have that dance now, sweetheart?”
“With pleasure.” Manuel watched almost transfixed as she gracefully took her uncle’s hand and stood up. It was only now that he noticed how perfectly her dress showed off her voluptuous curves. He was almost certain that she would leave without another word when once again she proved him wrong. Turning on her heels, she grabbed the remaining shot and gulped it down in one large swig before she looked down at him, almost as regal as a queen.
“Have a pleasant evening, Mister Neuer. I’m sorry I can’t say I enjoyed our conversation more. Oh, and just in case you should ever feel in need to talk to a grown up, don’t call.”

She could still feel his piercing look on her back as Hansi led her through the crowd and away from him. They had just begun to dance when the song changed and a much slower tune echoed through the large room. With a smug grin, her uncle pulled her closer, bringing his hand to the small of her back. Cheek to cheek he swayed her to the beat and she could feel that her mind was almost beginning to slow down, when he decided to pick up a conversation.
“Will you tell me what that was all about?”
She bit her lip like a little girl that was about to be scolded. “Do I have to?”
He chuckled deeply, the vibration rumbling against her chest and she could easily imagine the self-satisfied grin on his face.
“I’m certainly not going to force you. It’s just, you know, I always thought you kind of liked him.”
Instantly, she could feel her face heat up. How could he possibly know that?
“True. Liked, as in past tense. And besides, it’s not that I actually know him, personally, I mean. You could perhaps say I admire his talent, at most. And he also may be kind of easy on the eyes.”
She had become more and more quiet while she spoke, merely mumbling the last sentence. But he had heard her nonetheless, her silliness making his lips twitch in amusement.
“Hm. I clearly remember your aunt begging me to invite him over for a barbecue party last summer, telling me that you wouldn’t shut up about his quiet reserve, his amazing performance on the field and his stunning smile. Sadly he didn’t have time.”
She gulped audibly, tensing up a little in his arms, which made him enjoy their little talk even more. “So, what changed your mind?”
“He did,” she said a little too quickly, before she sighed so heavily that her uncle almost regretted bringing this topic up after all. “It’s just, I don’t understand his choice in women. I mean, he could choose literally anyone, so why her? I mean, she clearly doesn’t make him happy.”
“And how do you know that? You have spoken to him for what? Like five minutes?” He turned them around, making her face the gloomy goalie once more, before he went on. “I might be wrong, sweetheart, but I think you’re just jealous.”
Over his shoulder her gaze met Manuel’s for a split second before his eyes shot to his right, where the blonde teenager stepped into the picture, blocking him from view. She sat down on his lap, her arms dragging around his neck possessively, as her lips met his in a feverish kiss. Averting her gaze immediately, her eyes darkened and her heart clenched heavily in her chest.
“If by jealous you mean disenchanted, you’re right.”
Her bitter words made him loosen his grip on her so that he could see her face, and the hurt in her eyes pained him more than he cared for.
“I know you probably won’t believe me, but he really is a good person.”
She scoffed while her incredulous eyes landed on her uncle’s soft, blue orbs. “Well, he certainly hid that pretty well.”
He gave her a tight lipped smile. “I think he’s just lost his way a little at the moment.”
“So you think I’m right then?”
The excited sparkle in her eyes made him regret his honest words a little.
“I didn’t say that.” He protested strongly. In the end it was not for him to judge his players’ private lives. “After all he is a grown man and he can decide for himself.” He could see her face fall again and so he was quick to add, “Nevertheless, I don’t think you’re completely wrong either.”
He was very pleased to see that his words had caused a small smile to crawl back to her pretty lips. He almost felt like a proud father and when she finally leaned back in a bit closer, her forgiving gesture almost made him a bit bold.
“So, uhm, one more question, sweetheart. In the unlikely event that he should after all need a grown woman to talk to, can I give him your number?”
“Certainly not,” she insisted with a steady voice, but when she looked at him, the adorable grin on her face left no doubt that this was the biggest lie she had ever told.
⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
Manuel was furious as he watched her leave towards the dance floor with the coach. How could she dare call him out like that and then leave without giving him the chance to set her straight? His eyes fixed on her, he watched as Flick pulled her closer, his eyes following her uncle’s hand to the small of her back. Being the gentleman he was, his hand had found the only spot on her back that was actually covered by the dark red fabric of her dress. And for a second he imagined what it might actually feel like to let his hand wander upwards until it covered her bare skin. Or maybe he could let it slip down a few inches, until his fingers would grasp the soft flesh of her behind. He had just been able to fully picture the exact feeling of her body pressed up to his when he could feel the man who actually held her in his arms catch his indecent look on his niece’s back. Immediately he sat up straight, averting his gaze, completely missing the amused smile on the other man’s face, and when he turned back to face him, he almost lost it when he found her sparkling eyes instead.
He was still trying to figure out what had happened, when he heard a familiar voice calling him.
“Hey, babe.” The high pitched noise made him flinch and instinctively his eyes shot to his right, just in time to pull his arms away before she slumped down onto his lap clumsily. She laid it on thickly as her arms wrapped around his neck.
“I missed you on the dance floor, honey bun. Why don’t you come dance with me?”
And before he even had the chance to answer, her lips crashed down on his mouth almost painfully, her tongue forcing his lips to open. The stench of alcohol filled his mouth and he pushed her drunken form off of him determinedly. Before she even had the chance to protest, he lifted her up and placed her in his chair.
“I don’t think dancing is a good idea in your condition.” She glared at him, but then she seemed to have forgotten what for and her lips turned up into a sheepish smile.
“Whatever you say, babe.”
“Look, why don’t you just stay here and I get you a nice, big glass of water to sober you up a little?”
She began to nod, but then her eyes lost focus und she stared past him at god knows what.
“All right, I’ll be back in a sec. Don’t go anywhere.”
Quickly he made his way over to the counter and ordered a whole bottle of water, when he felt the slap of a hand on his left shoulder.
“Wow, you look even more frustrated than after our knock out at the World Cup in 2018. What happened?”
“Don’t ask.” He sighed as he turned around to face his friend. Manuel hoped that he would accept his wish, but when he saw the apologetic look on Thomas’ face, he instantly knew that he wouldn’t drop the topic.
“Too late. I just did.”
With a dramatic roll of his eyes, the next words were spoken more to himself than to his teammate.
“Great, just what I need. Another pain in my ass.”
“Another? Who was the first then?” Obviously Thomas had taken no offence and sounded a bit too cheerful for Manuel’s liking.
“She.”
He looked over at the dance floor, where the impertinent woman was just sending her uncle the most beautiful, cheeky grin he had ever seen.
“Who? Y/N?” his friend asked incredulously.
Y/N. So that was her name.
“You know that annoying woman?”
“I do, although I can’t really say she’s annoying. Met her at the coach’s home once. She seemed rather sweet and intelligent to me.”
“She certainly hid that pretty well,” Manuel growled under his breath, earning him a surprised frown from Thomas.
“Are you gonna stand here and stare daggers at her or are you gonna tell me what she did to make you throw a fit?”
“She approached me out of nowhere to tell me that I’m dating a teenager to compensate my inability to commit to a partner on eye level.”
Thomas let his words sink in for a while.
“That doesn’t really sound like her. I mean, what reason would she have to come at you like that? She doesn’t even know you.”
Manuel sighed, thinking about the way she had somehow coaxed the statements from him instead of making them herself.
“Well, she might have phrased it differently,” he admitted meekly. That seemed to spark Thomas’ interest even further and he could feel his expectant look on him, pressing him to finally tell the whole truth.
“Actually she didn’t say it like that. She only made an allusion and made me somehow say those things myself.”
“Mhm. And exactly what allusion did she make?”
Manuel rolled his eyes again, his ego still fighting to repeat her words out loud.
”She said puberty was a bitch, clearly hinting at the fact that she thought my girlfriend was too young for me.”
He hadn’t even finished his sentence when Thomas’ roaring laughter filled the air.
“Now that does sound more like her.”
He needed a bit to contain himself when he suddenly looked up at Manuel with an unusually serious expression on his face.
“And I have to admit, Manu, she kind of has a fair point there.”
“What?”
Manuel could not believe his ears.
“Come on, man. It’s what everyone thinks. She just said it out loud.”
“Fuck you.”
But instead of rising to his expletive, Thomas just looked at him sympathetically. Pushing himself off of the counter, he pat his shoulder in an attempt to encourage him a little, ready to leave him to his self-denial.
But then he stopped. “You know, I personally didn’t have a problem with it. You’re an adult, you can make your own choices. As long as you’re happy, right? But the truth is, Manu, I don’t think you are. Not anymore.”
⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
“See, I told you he wouldn’t be here. No need for all the panic beforehand.”
She narrowed her eyes at her cousin, shooting her a dirty look.
“Yeah, and I hope it’ll stay that way. Oh, and for the record: I wasn’t panicking at all, it was just you and your sister’s sudden eagerness to lure me here that got me suspicious and nervous in the first place.”
“We didn’t lure you here,” her other cousin piped up a little offendedly. “We simply wanted to spend some time with you. Come on, it’s been what, like 4 months now? Since you moved to Munich three years ago, we hardly get to see you anymore.”
“You and our father,” her sister added quickly. “So it seemed the best option to kill two birds with one stone and bring you along. After all it’s called a family day, right?”
Y/N sighed, not fully convinced, but finally ready to let the topic go.
“Right. Let’s just hope for your sakes that there will be no surprises today that might prove your guilt after all.”
“How are my girls doing?” she heard a familiar voice from behind her back, turning towards her favourite uncle with a beaming smile. What she didn’t see, however, was the brief look that was exchanged between her cousins as soon as she had turned her back, proving exactly what she had suspected all along.
“We’re good, dad. Actually, we’re more than good, we’re excellent,” the older cousin chirped.
“Great.” He paused a moment, but it was clear that he had more to say. Rocking back and forth on his feet, he looked from one woman to the other. “So,” he began carefully, before a huge Cheshire grin spread across his face. “I hope you all reserved a dance for me tonight.”
“Oh, no, daddy, not again.”
“Please, don’t make us do this.”
“There will be dancing here? If you had told me that beforehand, I certainly wouldn’t have come.”
“Of course there will be dancing. I thought that was obvious.” He had to try very hard to look a little slighted, while he actually drew a horrendous amount of amusement from their antics. “Remember, girls, we have a tradition to uphold. Whenever there is some dancing at a party, you have to reserve at least one dance for me. That’s the rule.”
And with that he turned and left them on their own again.
“Ugh, why does he always have to do that to us?” her younger cousin whined.
“Oh stop it, silly. You’re the one who likes it the most and everyone knows.”
⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
She had been the first to pay tribute to the family tradition and after a very exhausting Discofox dance session, luckily one of her cousins had taken over from her. Kicking off her heels, she welcomed the feel of the cool grass underneath the soles of her feet. Walking over to one of the empty tables, she slumped down heavily into one of the comfortable looking chairs. With a contented smile she let herself fall back against the backrest, closing her eyes and breathing in the mild air of the warm summer night.
“Care for a drink?”
His voice made her jump, sitting up straight immediately, eyes shooting wide open. And there he was, two shot glasses in his large hands and grinning down at her, obviously very satisfied with the slight scare he had just given her. He looked amazing, the smug bastard, in his casual jeans and white shirt, two buttons undone, topped with a sporty black jacket. She highly doubted that she had ever seen a finer man in her entire life. Luckily that didn’t make her lose her sharp tongue.
“And here I am thinking that you weren’t fond of alcohol. What happened?”
He smiled sheepishly, only one corner of his mouth tugged up, when he handed her her drink. He took his time, grabbing a chair and positioning it opposite hers, then sitting down carefully, not wanting to spill the shot all over his chest. She had already come to think that he was trying to avoid her question after all, when he locked eyes with her and finally began to speak.
“Hm. It’s been a while since I last saw you. A lot of things happened, you know. Maybe it was finally time for me to grow up.”
“Hear, hear.” With a mischievous smile she raised her glass. “To your coming of age, then.”
He rolled his eyes playfully. “If you insist.”
His magnificent blue eyes never left hers while they chinked glasses, and a second later she could feel the more than welcome liquid moisturising her suddenly very dry mouth.
With a thud, their glasses landed on the table, both of them chuckling like giddy children when their eyes found each other again and then, for a moment, there was nothing but silence. The world seemed to have zoned out, leaving behind nothing but his aquamarine orbs and the wild smile on his face.
Just gradually, the world seemed to set back in again. There was the monotonous clitter of the crickets, overlaid by the muffled sound of the music that was carried over by a soft breeze, and loudest of all she could hear the beating of her own heart against her chest.
“What else has changed now that you are a proper adult?” she heard herself ask, not having the faintest idea where those words came from and how the hell she managed to deliver them so smoothly when her whole body seemed to have gotten out of control.
He took a quick look over his shoulder, his thumb pointing in the same direction.
“If you mean the dancing, I’m still not very fond of that.” Her face must have fallen a little because he was quick to add, “Except...”
“Except what?”
His eyes landed back on hers and she almost choked on her hitching breath.
“Except I think I could make an exception for the right partner.”
From the corner of her eye she registered a movement between their bodies, but she was hesitant to let her view stray from his captivating appearance. At last it was something in his eyes that looked at her expectantly which finally made her snap out of her trance.
Looking down at his hand sheepishly, it took her a while to fathom that he was actually asking her to dance with him.
Slowly her eyes wandered up to his again, asking a silent question, which he answered with an almost imperceptible rise of his eyebrows. And before she knew what she was doing, she laid her hand in his and let him pull her to her feet.
He had just turned towards the source of the music, when she suddenly held him back.
“No, wait.”
With a puzzled look he did what she asked of him and let her twist him back around.
“Why don’t we just stay here? The music is loud enough anyway.”
A gentle smile curved his lips. “Sure, if that’s what you want.”
She nodded softly, her teeth biting down on her lip in excitement.
And before she knew what was happening, she found herself secured against his chest by his firm grip. It felt like being pressed up to a hot furnace which she would usually have appreciated any other time, but on a sweltry night like this and in a place she had wanted to be in for so long, it was pure torture. And as if this wasn’t bad enough already, his strong fingers pressed down on her lower back, threatening to scorch her even through the fabric of her blouse as he pulled her an impossible inch further into him. He was so close now that she could sense the heat radiating off his cheek as well, bringing along a whiff of his enticing scent and she couldn’t help but close her eyes as she inhaled deeply and her head began to spin. It was odd, but her mind was completely blank by now, blank except for one thought and her lips spread into a blissful smile as she repeated it in her head again and again, relishing in the feeling that if either of them moved just the tiniest bit, their cheeks would inevitably touch.
Slowly they moved and despite the unhurried shift of their bodies her heart was beating so violently that she thought it pondered jumping out of her chest to meet his. There was no chance he wouldn’t be able to tell from the way he held her, and when he finally drew away a tad to look at her, she fully expected him to call her out for it.
But he didn’t. Instead his sinfully soft lips curled into a reassuring smile before he spoke.
“You were right.”
“I beg your pardon?”
A cute chuckle escaped his mouth, leaving the corners of his eyes crinkled in the most beautiful display of amusement.
“About what you said at your uncle’s birthday party.”
“Oh.” She had said a lot that evening, words that she had come to regret later and remembering them now set her cheeks on fire. “About what exactly?”
“About everything,” he admitted without hesitation, yet he couldn’t hide the spark of misery that flitted across his sea blue orbs. “Didn’t take me very long after that night to finally see things clearly.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” It was true. Although she knew that she probably sounded like a madwoman after everything she had confronted him with back then, at least the frown on his forehead seemed to confirm that. “I truly am. I really would have liked to see you happy.” Even if it was with that girl.
She was glad she had managed to keep that last bit to herself. She had no idea why she had said that she was sorry in the first place, but judging by the wild smile on his face it must have been the right words after all.
“Well, I certainly am happier now than I was that night.” He shrugged. “So, thank you, I guess.”
She huffed. “For what? Making absolutely inappropriate remarks on your relationship? I shouldn’t have done that. I know that now. So it should be me who is sorry here, don’t you think?”
She could feel his fingertips press into the soft flesh of her back.
“Don’t be. I guess you were exactly what I needed.” It took him a second before he realised what he had just said. “I mean it. It was exactly what I needed.”
His eyes snapped to the left and she was thankful that he couldn’t see the grin that decorated her lips as she watched the treacherous colour creep into his cheeks, spreading all the way to his ears. For a while he didn’t say another word, probably still trying feverishly to figure out a way to take back his slip of the tongue. And when he finally spoke, she wished he hadn’t.
“There is one thing though that I have gone over and over in my mind. But no matter how long I think about it, it just won’t make sense.”
She already knew that she wouldn’t like where this conversation was heading now, but she found herself asking nonetheless.
“And what is that?”
His head turned without a warning as his eyes searched her gaze and for the blink of an eye his lips came so close that she couldn’t say if they had actually brushed along hers or if her needy heart had just imagined their brief touch. He didn’t answer her question right away, his breath blending with her own in the narrow space between their faces and suddenly she wasn’t so sure anymore if she had really only dreamed up their fleeting foretaste of a kiss.
“Why did you do it?” Panic rose in her chest. She hadn’t done anything. After all it had been him who had turned his head. But as he went on, she realised that he wasn’t referring to that at all and the suffocating distress eased away bit by bit. “I mean, we didn’t even know each other when you decided to come at me like that.”
Now it was her who had to avert her gaze.
“I think I don’t really want to answer that question.”
“Why not?” His voice was so soft and gentle, making it even harder to answer him.
“Because the truth might be kind of ugly.”
“But the outcome wasn’t, so I think I’ll take that risk.”
Her feet stopped their mechanical movements as a violent shiver ran down her spine. So this would be it then. It would be over before it had really begun. Pity. But at least she would have the memory of these few minutes, of his genuine smile and the way he had held her tight against his chest. With a deep sigh she bid their daydream of a dance goodbye.
“I could tell you now that it was for some noble reason, but at the bottom of it all I think it was nothing more than jealousy that drew me to your table that night. I had been unable to ignore you all evening — ignore her. The way she behaved like a spoiled brat, drinking and losing control, not caring in the least that she not only made a fool out of herself but of you as well. God, I hated her in that moment, for having everything I ever wanted and riding roughshod over it. And when I saw you sitting there, looking so utterly crestfallen, somehow I couldn’t help it.”
An undefinable silence settled between them and the only sound that remained was the beat of the music wafting over from the party that went on behind his back. The faint whisper of the melody seemed to push itself up between them and tear them further apart, exactly as she had expected. And just like the bass, her heartbeat slowed until it died away completely.
It was over and everything she wanted to do was let go of his hand so she could do him the favour of leaving, but to her astonishment he refused to set her free. And rather then releasing her from his grip, he squeezed her hand, briefly and just once, but it was enough for her to find the courage and face him. But instead of finding a frown or a scornful pair of eyes, his blinding smile made her forget to breathe for a moment.
“I had hoped you might say that.” And with that he pulled her into his arms again and continued swaying her to the music as if she had not just revealed her repulsive self to him. Her brain still a step behind, she couldn’t do anything but stare up at him stupidly.
“What? Why?”
“Isn’t that obvious?” And when she shook her head like a petrified imbecile, an amused chuckle rumbled through his chest. “Because even though your behaviour was extremely infuriating, I have to admit that I like you. And asking you out on a date will be so much easier now that I know you like me too.”
With a violent jolt, the useless muscle inside her chest started to beat again, its heavy pounding filling her ears with white noise as the world around her started to spin. Unable to stop the motion, she felt herself leaning in, her nails digging into the undoubtedly expensive fabric of his jacket as she desperately tried to gain control over her unruly body.
“So, will you go out with me?”
It seemed like an eternity until she finally mustered the strength for a mechanical nod. Neither had she noticed in her struggle that he had stopped dancing, nor that the priceless look on her face had made his eyes and heart go soft for her.
“Great. That’s settled then. When are you free?”
It was only when he took a step back, taking his warmth with him as his hand slipped out of hers, that she snapped out of her trance.
“Now.”
“Now? Like right now?”
More like now as in before she could screw everything up again.
“Yes, why not? I know you have a busy schedule, so finding a date when we are both free might be tough. And above that, it is a beautiful summer evening.”
Had all those words really fallen from her mouth right now? Embarrassed about her lack of composure, her hand flew up to her mouth, making him smile again.
“I guess you have a fair point there.” And just like that, his hand was there again, fingers entwining slowly with hers like they had never been meant for anyone else. “All right then, let’s get out of here.”

oooo what can you tell us about ur ttrpg characters??
oh man tons, almost every single one of them I created based on a silly premise I thought would be funny and then eventually evolved into a genuine character that I'm now extremely invested in
There's Captain Widdershins, (which u may be able to tell by the name was a joke character I made for a oneshot that eventually evolved into a full campaign) who's a weathered 500 year old pirate captain with a missing arm and a golden eye who is completely off her rocker and took her warlock patronage to the goddess of the ocean as a marriage proposal. She's insane and very in love with her ocean wife and I adore her.
Caisson is a half mechanical half humanoid inventor who builds medical prosthetics and has a tiny pet dragon named Kip. Their parents were world-class weapons manufacturers and were secretly working on a doomsday device before being mysteriously killed. In an attempt to draw the assassins out into the open, Caisson announced the weapon development and claimed that they were the one who built it. This instead resulted in Caisson getting the attention of the king, who hires them as a weapons manufacturer (something they are not) for a ~mysterious quest~ oooo
Ruby and Punch are a sort of Jekyll and Hyde duo I'm playing for a Legend of Zelda campaign. Ruby is a sweet little skullkid and a level 1 bard. He's got 10 hit points and a violin and he's just out here doing his best. Punch on the other hand is a cursed theatre mask with mad sorcerer magicks who only wants two things: attention, and extreme gratuitous violence. Mechanically, Punch is the better character to have in a fight, but he's also wicked chaotic evil and is extremely self-motivated. Ruby is genuinely helpful to the party and does much better with socializing/charm based shit. Ruby needs Punch in order to not get one hit K.O.'d, Punch needs Ruby because he's got no body of his own. They work kind of like a multiclass but uh, without a lot of the benefits of multiclassing lmao bc I specifically designed them so that they both need to switch off bc the other has whatever they lack. The GM and I have spent many hours homebrewing exactly how these two idiots work just so my dreams of playing a Sweet Boi and The Worst Kind of Theatre Kid can come true.
I did a comic about Sable from the dragon age campaign I was part of for a bit, who was an Orlesian university student that ended up becoming a Grey Warden during a research trip and continued to have an Extremely Bad Time as they fruitlessly tried to find a cure for the blight. They were also the youngest of 12 siblings because I thought the idea of that was hilarious, a real Cheaper By The Dozen scenario wherein they were around the same age or younger as a lot of their nieces and nephews. The GM for that campaign actually came up with a whole family tree and names/professions for Sable's siblings and niblings which was literally the coolest shit there was a plethora of family drama interwoven in there. A sheltered teen was also... probably the smartest character choice for me to play since I've never played Dragon Age and had no knowledge of the lore lmao. Sable's obliviousness was just my obliviousness in most cases.
And Aelios is the most recent. Basically my friend I'm playing with created a character who's the son of a massive crime family, and I entirely built Aelios' concept on that. They're a barbarian who got a job as a mob goon purely so that I can do the "yeah you got it, boss" thing whenever possible. They've also got a backstory with a husband killed by demons, very storied mercenary past, and an unhealthy addiction to the drug that the crime family holds a monopoly over, but it really did start out with me just wanting to play a total meathead since I am too often drawn in by the siren song of spellcasting.
#asks#anonymous#dnd5e#dnd#i like magicks what can i say#but listen the high of having a plus 10 to athletics as Aelios is unparalleled#they're fuckin STACKED

454. Seventeen, Prom Edition, March, 1995
Okay so this issue is a HUGE one for me. This was the first issue of Seventeen I ever bought when I was 11 years old. This is the actual copy, no rebuying off eBay! Somehow she survived, and I found her in the storage unit a few summers ago.
I remember flipping through this thinking that I too would go to prom one day. I've mentioned before that I did not since I was a fat, ugly, social pariah by 2001.
We're still in that era of "this ran in a TEEN magazine?!" like last time.
Look at that list of all those dead department stores.
Ha, Courtly Love. I just got that.
We all know that only Pam Beesly wore Keds after the 5th grade:
FINALLY, after 27 years and thanks to archive.org, I'm finally able to see this "grabbing boob" shot Julie & Erin noticed from the December, 1994 issue:
Speaking of boobs --- this is one story that is still seared in my memory.
and these waitress dresses are seared in memory! I wanted these so bad, but you know, they wern't selling these in plus size back then.
I nearly had this reaction when I saw the red outfit. I remember it so well! I thought that slip thingy....looked better than that red dress. Those black accessories are fire, but that dress (you can barely make it out, but its white on top) isn't it.
As a kid, I thought that pink dress was redid, but now I LOVE it.
All of the steps we had to do because setting spray and makeup primer didn't exist back then.
Yas, let's all go out like this tomorrow.
This look involved an eyeliner and three, t h r e e lipsticks.
This young lady was predicting the future with this makeup look.
I've mentioned before that I was a pretty dumb kid. 11 year old me legit thought Loralie was suggesting that you wear that bustier and jeans to the prom. 'cuz anything went in fashion back in 1995.
I adore Winnie, she looks like my niece in law. Also, another predictor of the future of fashion. It reminds me of the Gwenyth Paltrow dress at the 1999 Oscars.
Dear lord, I had completely forgotten about Stella's candy wrapper red dress with those amazing shoes with the socks. This was my favorite look from these girls. I wish I was more talented with the sewing machine to recreate that dress. I need it in a size 18.
This dress is cute, but it looks a little too causal for prom.
Oh wait, never mind, this is too casual for prom.
1. she's 14
2. 'Pretty sure I saw that dress at Deb a few years later.
3. that backpack purse looks handmade and tragic.
4. I thought hat MAC sequin lipstikck was still being made, it's not.
Those ribbon flowers are very ... elementary school.
This is another page I remember vividly, even the little "bad guys might watch tv, but they never read seventeen" footnote. Hidden Edge, the cell phone look a like, isn't fooling anybody. More on the product:
Hidden Edge from Defenders Network, Inc. is chock full of interesting features. It is a combination siren and spray device disguised as a radio, camera or cellular phone. The pepper spray has a range of 10 to 12 feet and the siren screams at an ear piercing 130 dB sound level.
One of the most common fears of those who carry any sort of personal defense is that it will be used against them. The makers of Hidden Edge have taken this into account and furnished the unit with a “safety pin” that disarms the spray if the attacker attempts to use the device against its owner. If the attacker grabs the unit away from the owner, the wrist strap is connected to a disarming pin that drops the spray canister into the body of the device, rendering it inoperable. 1
Yes, that drawing does look like Jenna Marbles that time she tried being an e girl. Did Austin start that short lived trend in the late summer of 1996 where Claires and Spencers sold all sorts of Pillsbury Doughboy stuff? I had the keychain, but I wore him like a necklace at the beginning of the 8th grade.
It's a no on that Jacket. It's very Peggy Hill:
That middle dress is sad too. That looks like the dress us plus size girls would have as our only option.
I wanted to be Annie so bad. That STYLE.
Tanya Donelly was fascinated by CD-Rom.
These ideas are cute, but stupid.
Sadly, I tore out this page out of my issue and put it on my wall when I was 12. I believe the model's dress was a copper color.
I love these stories about young girl inventors. I found a couple of Double Decker Cookie Bakers on eBay:
Predicting the future, yet again.
Finally, in closing there are two articles that I have copies of that are way too big to post:
I just had this memory of bringing this issue with me to either a Girl Scout meeting or a Girl Scout field trip, and one of the younger girls laughing at the Midol ad and pointing at the girl's butt.
The rest of the zine making article is above, where the breast removal article ends.

I Found a Lost Scrap of Blindness History Today
While visiting my grandparents, my grandma told me why she loves birds so much. When she was a child, her mom would take her to visit her three aunts for tea. The sisters would drink tea while she played in the aviary they had. This is all new information to me. Then she says that one of her aunts was blind and would write letters to her “on a special board with wires on it” which stunned me...
I pictured what it might look like. I board about letter size with stiff wires running horizontally in narrow parallel lines. There would be a small space to slide the paper between the board and wires, or perhaps the wires were in a rigging designed to be removed like the top to a box, or as a lid with hinges to open and then press shut. The wires would be stiff and firm.
I imagine this woman who went blind as an adult sitting down to pen a letter to her adorable niece. Her desk is known to her, everything has its place. The parchment is rough on sensitive fingers. She sets up her writing board, pins the paper down, dips her pen, and begins writing. She has the muscle memory and years of practice writing by hand to guide her, and with the board holding everything just so, she continues to engage in one of the most meaningful and long living conversation forms in history.
I’m sitting silently, overwhelmed by the sheer joy of knowing someone in my far distant yet very personal history was blind too, and she had learned and created her own methods to navigating life blind. I’ve literally just been handed the tiniest scrap of blind history that was nearly lost. Nobody thought to make any sort of lasting record about the existence of this writing board, not what its purpose was or how it was made and used or who first came up with the idea. Or if there is a written record, it has been lost in time. It’s another tiny, tiny piece of history that slipped through the cracks like so many others.
Watch historians cry over the tiniest, hyper-specific questions they have that history never thought mattered enough to record because either everyone already knew it or very few people needed to know it. (Bernadette Banner comes to mind for me. I’ve been watching her for over a year now and the dedication she puts to her research inspires me.)
So I have to look at the history.
It’s the early 1900s. My grandma was born in 1928. So that must be kept in mind. What technology, methods, and information about blindness was available then?
Braille existed, but it was far, far from accessible in that
1. Even today, brailling machines are STILL expensive and hard to come-by in our era of mass manufacturing and same-day delivery.
2. Teachers who taught Braille were few in number, and clustered at the very few schools for the blind around the world. Good luck travelling across a country to learn basic life skills and Braille
3. it’s still not an ideal writing method between you and your sighted loved ones.
Information traveled slower then. There’s no internet, no search engine to type in “shit, I’m going blind, what do I need to know now?” It travels through mail and newspapers and scholarly writings and radio. And the slower information travels, the harder it is for it to reach those who need it most. The easier it is lost.
Guide dogs were suddenly a thing, and a big part of that was because American Dorothy Harrison Eustis wrote an article about dogs being trained to guide blinded veterans in Berlin. It was published in The Saturday Evening Post on November 5th, 1927. It was a national sensation and led to her connecting to Morris Frank, blind 20-year-old who asked if it was possible for her to help him with getting a guide dog. Together they went on to co-found The Seeing Eye, the first guide dog school.
[Hey, fellow Witcher fans, I think you’ll like this. Morris Frank named every one of his guide dogs Buddy. His first guide dog was a female German Shepherd named Kiss.]
But this wouldn’t have been possible if not for newspaper, mail, and the telephone, all of which Frank and Eustis relied on to begin their work together.
And this is by no means the origin story of guide dogs. We will never have the “origin” story of the first ever guide dog, only another reboot as the concept was developed and lost with time over and over again.
The same must apply to canes, and methods of writing and reading. There must be O&M methods that were learned and lost because there weren’t other blind people to teach it to. Like old family recipes.
So here I am with the tiniest scrap of blind history, only a small detail in a larger story that just tilted my world on axis a bit. And here is the internet, to which I can record this information and make it available to everyone.
(...and tell myself not to think about the internet being another Library of Alexandria and losing so much priceless knowledge...)

@mythandmagik
Pulling up to the compound you weren’t sure what you expected, but surprisingly you were a lot calmer than you had anticipated. You hadn’t seen most of the team in the 4 years since you moved to the SHIELD office in DC and you were excited but so much had changed. You took a deep breath and grabbed your bags before exiting the car and heading inside.
Tony greeted you immediately with a huge hug, it always amazed you how calming his hugs would make you, you pulled away after a quick kiss to the cheek and followed him through the compound. “Your accommodations are right this way” he told you with a smirk. “Wow, billionaire, genius and bellhop? I wasn’t expecting that” you giggled.
“I expect a good tip” Tony remarked as you followed him to the elevator. “How about I pay you with kisses from your favorite niece?” you asked as you pressed a kiss to your daughters head “once she wakes up that is” “That is perfect payment! She looks even bigger than when i last saw her” he mentioned gazing at her as you all headed out of the elevator.
“Morgan has been asking all week when you were arriving, I think there is a tea party scheduled for this afternoon”
“Well, that works for me, I’m honestly surprised she’s still sleeping. What time is the briefing?” you asked as you headed into the apartment followed by Kevin, carrying your bags, and Tony.
“About 10 minutess, I can push it back if you need to settle in but I thought you might want to rip the band aid off, so to speak” he smirked. “No, Kevin will be here with her, I can freshen up quick and be on our way” you smiled as you settled your daughter in the crib Tony had waiting for you. “GIve me 5 minutes, and I’ll be ready” you headed into the bathroom to wash up quickly.
Chatting with Tony on the way to the conference room felt like you had never left, you loved working with him and missed seeing him on a daily basis, but you had actually grown much closer to him since you had moved away. You took a deep breath before entering the room and looked around to all the Avengers eagerly awaiting Tony’s arrival and the start of the meeting.
“Ok, we can start, Special Agent Y/L/N, will be running the show” Tony announced as he made his way to the head of the table. You smiled looking around the room, your eyes landing on his before you walked in and got to work. Clearing your throat you began handing out the briefing you created “this is my surveillance notes for Mr. Dick Roman over the last 4 years, he has various aliases depending on what country he is in, but no matter where he is, he leaves a mess in his path when he leaves”
“Hold up, you are not coming in here and talking about so whack job, being all Ms Business without even a proper hello” You chuckled “I’m sorry Wilson, I wanted to get through the briefing so that we can properly form a plan before getting into personal greetings, but if you need a hug Sammy, I am more than willing to oblige” you stated as you walked towards him.
“Damn right I do” Sam responded while pulling you into a bone crushing hug “and it’s Special Agent now, huh? Running up the ranks in DC, I see” he winked at you as he placed a kiss on your forehead. “What can I say? I guess they like me” you shrugged as you stepped back.
“And who wouldn’t” Steve quipped as he pulled you into a hug “we all miss you” he whispered in your ear before kissing your cheek. “Thanks Steve” you turned toward Bucky who was awkwardly standing behind you.
“Got a hug for me, doll?” he asked almost as if he was afraid of you. “Of course, Bucky” you hugged him and as soon as he touched you, all the months of incredible memories between the two of your flashed in your mind as if they were just yesterday.
You took a deep breath before releasing him “you look good, Buck, I like the short hair” you smiled before being pulled into a triple hug with Wanda and Nat. Laughing immediately when they started tickling you. “Ok, please stop” you squeal. “And this is why I was wanting to get through the documents first” you shook your head and got back to work.
It was only about an hour later when you all decided to break for lunch and head to the common area. You heard crying as soon as the elevator doors opened and knew the inevitable had happened. Rushing into the room you find Kevin trying to rock Joy in his arms, trying to calm her down. Reaching over you rubbed her back, when she looked up and whimpered “mama!’
“I’m sorry, she woke up a few minutes ago and was a bit disoriented, we tried reading a book and singing but she wasn’t having any of it” Kevin told you with a sympathetic smile. “It’s ok, I figured the new space might be a bit confusing. You’re ok, right, Joy?” you asked as she climbed in your lap and wrapped her arms around your neck. Mumbling something in your neck you couldn’t understand, but you heard her sniffles and the attempt to regulate her breathing.
“It’s ok, mama’s here now” you hummed in her hair as you rubbed her back. Looking up you came across a variety of faces, some confused, some shocked and some in awe of the sweet moment. “Sweetie, do you want to meet mommy’s friends?” you ask hoping the change in subject will help calm her down. She huffed a no in your neck and tightened her grip.
“Oh, but uncle Tony is here and he said that Morgan wants to have a tea party, but you can’t do that clinging to my neck” you told her softly. She pulled away to look at you “unca-to-ee an mogan uh heew” you hummed confirmation before she slowly turned around to the room full of people watching your interaction. She gasped when she saw Tony “unca-to-ee! An Nat!” she shouted before climbing down and running to her two favorite Avengers.
“Thank you Kevin. You can enjoy the rest of your day in the city, I got it from here” you patted his leg and rose from the couch to follow Joy over to the group. “You’re sure? I don’t mind sticking around” he responded only for you to quirk an eyebrow at him “of course you’re sure, I’m out, call me if you need me” he responded shaking his head at the fact that he questioned you.
“So, everyone, this is Joy, Joy sweetie, these are mommy’s friends” you told her “can you say hi?” “Hi fwens” she shouted as she waved at everyone. “I hungee, can i hav a nack?” she asked as she looked up at Nat. “Of course you can! Let’s see what we can find” she told her before sweeping her up in her arms and heading to the kitchen, Wanda and Tony following behind. Bucky, Sam and Steven were still in a bit of shock.
“You have a daughter” Steve stated “She’s adorable, Y/N, she looks just like you” Sam told you with a wink before heading to the kitchen. “Thanks, she is a handful, but completely worth it” you responded with a soft smile.
“How old is she?” Bucky asks, almost frightened of the answer. “She just turned two last month” you smile remembering the fun little party you threw for her. “So she’s not…” he started to say but trailed off, with a look that you didn’t recognize, not sure if it was relief or disappointment.
“No, Bucky, she isn’t yours, I would have told you if that was a possibility” you respond softly. “Sure” he states before looking at his feet. “Yes, if i was pregnant with your child, I would have told you” you were defensive now, that he would think otherwise. “I can’t do this right now, I thought we could work together and be civil but I guess I was wrong” you state as you head towards the kitchen hearing him mumble something under his breath you stop in your tracks. Turning toward him you walk over slowly, as if you were afraid to spook an animal ‘what did you say? I couldn’t hear you” He took a deep breath before looking at you “I said go, that’s what you’re good at” And just like that you were transported back to the day when everything in your relationship crashed
“Doll, we need to talk?” he stated as he sat down next to you on the couch. “Okay, what’s going on Bucky?” “I really care about you Y/N, but I don’t think this is working, I think it’s best if we go back to being just friends” he tells you, barely looking you in the eye. “Oh…. and why the change? I thought things were good” you respond trying to keep yourself from crying . “Nothing changed, it’s just not working” he responds again remaining vague and just expecting you to agree.
“Is there someone else?” you whisper knowing that something had to have prompted him to dump you after dating for the last 6 months, the best 6 months of your life, but apparently not his. “No, there’s no one else, I wouldn’t do that to you” he tells you reaching for your hand to comfort you but you pull away.
“Come on Bucky, we’ve been friends for years, I’ve seen the women you’ve been with, I’m not stupid” you spat at him, knowing there was always a prettier woman on his arm the moment he got bored with what you used to refer to as his flavor of the month. “There is no one else, Y/N, I promise you” he’s nearly pleading with you to believe him. You shake your head as you stand up, the tears rolling down your cheeks now, but you don’t care.
“That’s actually worse, you’d rather be alone than with me” you chuckle humorlessly as you head toward the elevator, you had to get out of here before breaking down completely. “Don’t touch me!” you screech as he lays his hand on your shoulder.
“Doll, I’m sorry, but I still want to be friends, we’ve been friends for years, I still care about you” he tries to console you but at this point you feel so rejected that you want nothing but to get away from him.
“I don’t care what you want, you certainly don’t care about me” you yell just as Sam, Steve and Nat come in to see what the yelling is about. “What’s going on?” Steven asked, looking concerned.
"Nothing important, just your friend getting rid of his latest fling" you bitterly spit out as you glare at Bucky. "Have a nice life Barnes" then you are stepping into the elevator just as Natasha comes in before the doors close. You start sobbing and she pulls you into a hug.
"What the hell man?" Sam asks as Bucky drops his head and leaves the room.
"You are the one that ended us, don't make me be the bad guy for taking a job out of town to try and get over you" you tell him barely above a whisper. Bucky looks at you with regret "I messed up, but I find out from Nat that you aren't even in the state any more. I didn't get a chance to fix things, to fix us" he tells you reaching out for you.
You just shake your head "Fix us? When were you planning on doing that? Between which supermodel did you even remember my name?" you spat as his eyes widened. "Not even a week after you were done with me did I have to see you with another one of your flings, so don’t stand there and pretend like you wanted to fix anything. You got bored, like you always do, and you tossed me aside.”
“That’s what you think? I got bored and moved on?” he questioned looking hurt. “What else am I supposed to think, Bucky? You gave me no explanation, nothing. You were just done with me. So, yes, I took a job at the SHIELD office in DC so that i didn’t have to watch the man I loved parade around all the beautiful women who were just waiting in line for their turn” you tell him as you think back on making the decision to leave all of your friends and colleagues in NY.
“Loved? As in past tense?” he questioned.
“Yes, honestly Bucky, we knew each other for so long that when we started dating, I thought you were it for me. You knew all my baggage and dirty secrets and you still wanted to be with me, that had to mean something, right? But it wasn’t meant to be” you whisper and feel the tears pricking the back of your eyes.
“We still could, we could start over, I owe you an explanation, but it’s not too late” he tells you, pleading for you to give him a second chance.
To say you were shocked by his statement would be an understatement, you hadn’t spoken in 4 years and now he wants a second chance but before you can respond, Joy comes running back in the room. “Mama, com on, is yunch time!” she says as she grabs your hand and pulls you toward the kitchen.
Lunch was more relaxing than you expected, especially after the short conversation you had with Bucky. This isn’t what you expected today, not that you really knew what to expect but him asking for a second chance after all this time, really surprised you. By the time lunch was over, Joy had more energy than normal, she was quickly acclimating to her new surroundings and loving all the extra attention.
Walking over to Bucky after cleaning up your plate “Look, we should talk, but this mission takes priority. When Roman is under lock and key, you and I can sit down and try to restore our friendship, but until then, we need to remain professional and leave our personal lives out of this.” Bucky only nodded in return as he watched you pick up your daughter and head out of the room.

So since it’s already considered pretty accepted that Cuthbert Coot is the father of Kildare Coot, I had gone onto my ponderings about who Kildare’s mother is.
One of the wikias said her name was Luna Loon but besides that, I found nothing on her. So I did the next best thing:
I made a mother for Kildare:
Meet Petronella Paperella, everyone!
Born in 1963 to a family of fishermen, Petronella is a spirited young woman hailing from the small sea side town of Cefalu in Sicily, Italy. Out of 5 siblings, she is the second youngest of her brood.
In 1982, while making her way to town, by chance she meets Cuthbert Coot, who was staying with his uncle Clarence Coot up in Palermo for the year and decided to check out Cefalu for the day while his aunt Rosabella shopped and visited friends. The two, quite literally, bumped into each other (both their bikes crashed into each other, it was a nastly bump and fall). Petronella, quickly panicked and fretted over the person she crashed into, apologising frantically in Italian before the other could get a word in.
Cuthbert, however, was quickly besotted with the speckled beauty before him.
And that moment was what could be explained as the start of a wonderful relationship.
Cuthbert and Petronella spent a good amount of their free time together, Cuthbert mainly coming to Cefalu on weekends to spend time with her. Rarely did Petronella ever go to Palermo unless her family had business there and dropped her off at the Coot-de Paperone residence, where Cuthbert stayed. When not being able to visit each other, they sent each other letters. The letters initially started out quite friendly before showing subtle hints of flirting from mostly Cuthbert’s side (ending usually with a blushing mess on Petronella’s end. Safe to say, the flirting was well received). The flirting eventually bled through to their actual face-to-face talks (and hoo boy it’s amazing how red one’s face can become under the right circumstances) and soon their friendship turned to romance.
Cuthbert stayed in Sicily for another year due to the new development in their relationship and quickly went to work on not only his relationship with Petronella, but also to work on further impressing her family and showing/proving that he is capable of taking care of her.
Eventually the time for Cuthbert to leave was drawing closer and time seemed to be moving much faster for the both of them as time drew quicker. Petronella was deeply in love with Cuthbert and vice versa and wasn’t willing to leave him for so long. She had even fancied the idea of running to America with him, buying a ranch and raising cattle, having their own family and watching her children play in the fields without much worries.
So imagine her surprise and delight, when Cuthbert asks her to go with him to Duckburg ala marriage proposal (with her family’s approval and acceptance of course).
After 6 months of friendship and 1 and 1/2 years of romance, Petronella Paperella became Petronella Coot and with tearful goodbyes to her family, left Sicily, Italy for Calisota, USA and from there her life would get much better as Cuthbert had promised to both her and her family.
To say meeting the in-laws was overwhelming was an understatement. The Coot-Duck family had her surrounded the moment she stepped foot on Coot Kin land soil. Gretchen Coot (nee Grebe) had her daughter-in-law in her arms in seconds, happily and enthusiastically welcoming her to the family while Casey merely smiled and shook her hand, offering to take her bags inside for her. Elvira had even baked a special pie for the occasion (which Humperdink kept trying and failing to coax his wife into giving him a slice much to everyone’s amusement). Fanny, Cuthbert’s sister, welcomed her warmly as well and the two came quickly to accept each other sisters. The Coots were quite a lively bunch.
But Her beloved husband’s cousins were an even livelier group. Meeting Quackmore, Daphne and Eider would forever be one of Petronella’s favourite memories. The absolute chaos that followed the trio wherever they went was hilarious to witness and getting involved in their misadventures was even moreso. The misadventures she had ended up in led to her striking a lovely friendship with Daphne and Lulubelle, Eider’s wife and Hortense, Quackmore’s wife.
And when she was not out and about with the cousins and siblings, she was helping Cuthbert out with the ranch. It was thrilling compared to fishing to her. Getting to ride a horse and guiding cattle to and from the large open green fields was an absolute pleasure to her compared to fishing.
However, one little family disagreed with her.
6-year old, Donald Duck vehemently disagreed with her notion. His adoration with the sea and sailing was the most adorable sight she had ever witnessed. Really to her, all of the kids were adorable. She’d often babysit them all when things were too hectic at the farm for Elvira to take care of them.
All-in-all, Petronella’s relationship with the Coots and Ducks were as great as she had hoped it would be.
Then there were the McDucks.
Hortense’s family was... strange to say the least. Learning they too had immigrated to America from Europe made her feel a little more at ease with them when she’d first met them. But she noted the relationship between the siblings wasn’t as.... like the Ducks.
And while interacting with one of the members of the McDuck family, Douglas McDuck, the Ducks and the Coots (minus Cuthbert) see that, despite being a sweet and demure lady, there was a lot vitriolic rage hidden under that sweetness (which honestly just strengthened the friendship she had with Hortense).
Long story short, for his own safety, Douglas and Petronella were no longer allowed in the same room together unless
But life was good for Petronella.
Then it became great, because by 1988, she was greeted by what she considered her and Cuthbert’s greatest treasure.
Her eyes, beak and- from what she could tell just by his size- her small body. Cuthbert’s hair and feather colours.
Little Kildare Coot, or Sgrizzo as she lovingly called him.
Kildare was simply the light of Petronella’s life. Her first child, her baby boy who’d she sing sweet soft lullabies to like her own mother once did. While the family and his birth certificate say his name is Kildare, Petronella (and Cuthbert at times) call him Sgrizzo. She also spoke mostly Italian to him as a baby and would mix in English as he grew older.
By 1991, Petronella felt like she was truly at the height of her life, despite all the exhaustion and aches she felt from taking care of Kildare and helping Cuthbert and the rest of the family. She’d gone from Petronella Paperella, to Petronella Coot to now known as “dear Aunt Nellie Coot” as her nephews and nieces called her. Her marriage was great, she was to have another child soon, the family was at peace despite certain bumps in the road. Her life was great....
Until it wasn’t.
UGH, this took way too long to write out. I’ve been thinking about Petronella and her story for a while now, since she does have a bit of a role, albeit a minor one, in The Obscure Family members of Coot-Duck-McDuck so I decided to introduce her.
I have no other reason for giving her speckled feathers other than for the fact that it looked nice on her and I am very much attached to her right now.
Feel free to ask any questions about her or the story!!

masterlist
add yourself to my taglist here!
After meeting through some mutual friends you fell in love with each other. Chris swore he would have married you after your first date. A ring came about a year and a half later, Chris not wanting to call you anything but his wife for any longer. One dream wedding and a month-long honeymoon around the world, you were Mrs. Y/N Evans.
The conversation about kids came fairly early in the relationship. Him coming from a big family, he wanted the same for himself. He wanted a big house in the Massachusetts suburbs, the white picket fence, a couple of dogs, and the kids. He wanted to come home from work being attacked by a couple of kids and seeing you walking towards him barefoot and pregnant.
You were an only child to divorced parents, growing up mostly on your own. You never saw yourself as a mom, but always loved the idea of running after a couple of kids. Never wanting to bring a child into the kind of world you grew up in. The sad and lonely kind of world you endured most of your life. After meeting his family after a couple of months of dating and seeing the way he interacted with his nieces and nephews, you couldn’t help but hope to see yourself raising some kids with him.
He loved the idea of raising a family with you.
Grayson Christopher Evans
You brought your first child into the world not too long after your wedding.
You were in labor for about 16 hours before you were met with the screams of a baby boy.
Your baby boy.
He cried and cried until his skin met yours, calming him down almost instantly. Looking over at Chris who was at an absolute loss for words at the little person calming himself with the sound of your heartbeat. He looked at you for a while before looking back at his baby boy.
Chris couldn’t quite process the feelings he felt that night his son was born. He knew how much he loved you. You knew how much you loved him. But having this little person as a tangible expression of your love and commitment for each other was just beyond him. It was beyond anyone.
Grayson was just like his dad. Almost an exact copy of him if you were being honest. The same big blue eyes. The same soft brown hair. The same everything. Lisa often said how much Grayson was just like Chris was when he was a kid. There was little of you visible in him. Maybe he had the curve of your nose and the shape of your lips. But he was all Chris.
His little personality bubbling since day one. You couldn't have asked for a more perfect baby. He giggled as much as he could and played until he fell asleep with a toy in his hand. You were so lucky to have been gifted this little boy as your first baby. Chris had been struggling to balance work and his responsibility to you and Grayson but never failed to make sure you knew how loved you both were, even from thousands of miles apart.
Eleanor Olivia Evans
After another long labor, you welcomed a little girl into your new family of 4. A tiny little girl who, just like your boy once did, calmed themselves down at the sound of your heart and the warmth from your body. Chris once again sat there just absolutely beside himself at the sight of the love of his life with his little girl on your chest.
Introducing Eleanor, or Ellie, to Grayson was probably one of the greatest moments of your life. Chris walked in with Grayson in his arms telling him that we needed to use our indoor voices when talking to mommy and the baby. Grayson quickly climbed to sit right next to you, not bearing even 1 day away from you. You hugged your little boy and talked to him about meeting his sister. Grayson ran his little hands running along Eleanor’s cheeks as you sat there crying at the moment they were having with each other.
Now with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old life couldn’t have been sweeter. You had hardly been working while pregnant with Ellie, still having to keep up with a rambunctious toddler. Before kids, you were doing some writing for all sorts of movies and TV shows. After kids, you took fewer jobs that require travel and stayed mostly local.
Chris not wanting to leave you at home with a toddler and a newborn had made sure his work kept him close or allowed you and the kids to go with him. You both wanted to make sure you were there when Grayson and Ellie needed you.
If Grayson was a mama’s boy, Ellie was 1000% a daddy’s girl. She refused to let Chris out of her sight if she could help it. She refused to sleep most nights without hearing the sound of her dad’s voice and would cry and cry if he didn’t sing her to sleep. When Chris was pulled away for a week for work you were losing your mind trying to get her to sleep.
After a mild breakdown, you gave in and called Chris knowing even hearing his voice over the phone would calm the baby down. He sat there on the phone and just talked to her. She fell asleep almost immediately and slept through most of the night. You thanked Chris and ended up asking him for voice recordings of him talking and singing so you could play them in case he was pulled away again.
Charlotte Rose Evans
Charlotte, or Charlie as she's been nicknamed by her siblings, came into the world with a crew waiting so patiently for her arrival. By far the most painful and complicated birth you have had, she had quite dramatically made her entrance into the Evans family.
You had been monitored closely the last couple of months of your pregnancy as Miss Charlie tried to make an appearance early. You had some complications about halfway through and your midwife had been worried about possible preterm labor. You had started to have what you knew were contractions at 30 weeks and were immediately rushed into the hospital to try and halt the contractions and luckily succeeding.
You were placed on strict bed rest for the remainder of your pregnancy, not even allowed to stand at the stove making dinner, only getting up to use the bathroom and move from the bed to the couch.
It didn’t make your life with an overactive 4 and 2-year-old easy at all. Chris stayed home 24/7 to take care of you and his mom and sisters rotating taking the time to stay with you to help with the kids.
When Charlie did make her debut both of you were as healthy as you could be. Once again, bringing Chris to tears as another baby made their way into your family. He didn’t know he was capable of loving this much. He thought he had reached capacity after Ellie but the love he had for you and his kids just kept growing as you kept adding on.
If Grayson was all Chris, Charlie was all you. Except for her blue eye, which you figured would be a pattern with your kids. She was a copy of you and Chris ate it up. Eleanor is a perfect combination of the two of you. You could see the traits of you as well as the traits of Chris throughout her. But Charlie was completely you.
Grayson fit right into his role as big brother and protector of the Evans girls. He made sure every night he said goodnight to his sisters and told them he loved them with a kiss on their foreheads.
Ellie was excited that she no longer had to share her dolls with Grayson and would finally have a girl to play with. Charlie looked up to her big sister, seeing her as the most amazing person she has ever met.
Grayson, however, felt like he needed another sibling, specifically a boy sibling, and constantly asked you for a brother. He said to you over and over again that his friends at school had brothers and he needed one so very bad. You and Chris had agreed to stop at 3 but had given into the idea of having 1 more to try and even out the numbers. With Grayson in 2nd grade, Ellie in kindergarten, and Charlie starting Pre-K soon, having another wouldn’t be impossible.
Declan Robert Evans
The 2nd boy and the 4th and final child Chris and Y/N had brought into their world. Another perfect mix of Chris and Y/N.
His birth being the last time you would be in the hospital having a baby made it just that more emotional. You soaked in the first moments of his life just a little bit more. Chris cried just a couple more tears, seeing that angel on your chest for the first time. You admired the father of your children just a little more seeing him introduce the addition to the family to your other kids. Adoring the look on Grayson’s face when you set Declan on his lap, finally meeting the little brother he’d been wanting. Asking you if he could take him to class to show off to all his friends.
Walking around your house Declan’s first day home was more emotional than you had thought it would be. You brought every single one of your babies right through your front door. You had pictures littered around the house of moments in your life you were lucky to have immortalized forever. Knowing you had started your family here made you love everything just that much more.
Declan now 5 years old, Charlotte 8 years old, Eleanor 10 years old and Grayson at 12 years old you couldn’t imagine life any differently. You and Chris celebrated 13 years of marriage and almost 15 years together surrounded by the physical representations of the love you two shared for each other was unexplainable.
You had slowly started to get back into the work you loved doing so much after Declan started school. You were able to work on projects offered to you with Chris and had become an unstoppable duo professionally and personally.
Even having the amazing opportunities to do something you loved to do, nothing would ever beat sitting around a table listening to your kids talk about everything and anything that came to mind. Listening to them talk about what happened at school or about upcoming events they want to participate in was the highlight of your day.
Grayson had been playing with a football the moment he could pick one up. Chris nearly cried when Grayson had approached you guys about doing little league football at the rec center. Chris had been watching Patriot's games with Grayson since the day he was born. Taking him to games with Scott whenever they had the chance. The love for football ran in his blood and when he found out he could play on a team he took the chance as soon as it presented himself.
Eleanor had found a love for music and performing, just like her dad. She had picked up music and singing at a very young age, which probably came from her dad's love of performing. You encouraged her to pursue her love for music by telling her stories of when her daddy was young and used to stand on stage before he started doing big movies. She loved looking at pictures and watching old videos of Chris performing in high school whenever she'd visit Grandma Lisa.
Charlotte had picked up your love of reading and writing as soon as she could. Her favorite day of the week is when her class gets to spend time at the library finding new things to read and learn about. So far a running theme with her is books about nature and animals. She loves sitting down with you in the afternoon and telling you about what she learned in the science portion of her day. She had learned about how plants and animals interact and how important they are for all humans. She told you that when she's big she wants to make sure no one ever hurts plants and animals since they are so important for us.
Declan hadn't quite developed a love for something like his siblings had. All he cares about right now is the kind of snacks his mom packs for him and superheroes. You and Chris had introduced him to the world of superheroes recently, knowing that being in school someone was bound to mention to him about seeing his dad on a movie they watched. He was obsessed with the fact that his dad was a superhero once upon a time. He loved watching Chris' movies and would always ask to watch them whenever Chris wasn't home.
You looked at Chris from across the table as Grayson talked to him about football tryouts and asking him if they could practice after dinner. He felt your eyes on him and looked at you with a smirk and a wink thrown at you before giving Grayson his attention again.
You sat back a little to look around at this family surrounding you, knowing there was nothing better than this.

Actiontoongorlz's Top 8 Canon x OC Ships 💖💖
I've been looking at OTP/Couples memes for a while and decided that it's time for me to make my own! For an extra surprise I'm not putting Ben Tennyson x Jora Holiday on this list because I focus too much on them anyways & I want my other OCs & their loves to have the spotlight for a change. The timing couldn't be more perfect as we're close to Valentine's Day!!! If you don't support canon x oc or find my ships displeasing then move along because this is a Happy Place! 😁😁 Again these are couples that I consider my personal OTPs in regards to canon x oc. That and making more content with my ships in general! Be warned the text is long and contains spoilers for certain shows and such!!
Clarify: these are my own ocs so there's not going to be anyone else's oc/canon. I might have to save that for another post in the future! 💚 But yeah these are characters that I came up with :]
Alright I'm done ranting, let's get started!
1. Sonic x Lani: I never quite gave much thought into this pair as I should so I promise to do something with them in the future! I promise! What I appreciate about SonLani is that there's little drama, like everything is super chill because both parties are chill. It's not a big deal and they don't need grand gestures to show how much they care about each other. Unlike Preboot Archie with its carts full of poorly written romance and strangely OOC moments on Sonic's end, SonLani had a lot of time to grow, while keeping his established personality in check. They actually communicate with each other, and stick by each other thick and thin. Lani loves Sonic for who he is & has no plans on changing him. Likewise Sonic has someone he can rely on when things get tough; not to mention he can really be himself around her without going all "iLl sLOw dOWn fOr U." Plus the ship name I gave them is a huge nod to the games ^_^
2. Jason x Vanessa: A recent pair due to Vanessa being a new creation but I'm honestly in love with them right now. In-universe they are regarded as the prime example of 'Opposites Attract' in Odyssey. They didn't get along very well in Jason's first couple of months in town due to his hardheaded self and her aloof demeanor. But through events such as Blackgaard and Novacom they gradually learn to trust one another. They see each other in a different light, Vanessa realising that Jason is a lot more thoughtful than he lets on, and Jason discovering her hidden fun side and kindness. Vanessa provides challenges and a sense of normalcy Jason can enjoy away from spy business. Meanwhile Jason fulfills her thirst of adventure & simultaneous desire for a peaceful life as well as spirituality. They're a equals, regarding each other as such and not to mention the BANTER! Hard to believe a former nun can keep up with a secret agent both physically and trading barbs XD. There's also the Forbidden Love factor of Vanessa being the duaghter of Regis Blackgaard, Jason defending her because he KNOWS she is nothing like her old man. Their friendship and romance overcome so many obstacles. I can honestly say that if Vanessa was canon she'd be the type of person Jason would like to be with especially over Jillian Marshall *gags*
3. Kaysha Wallace x Leo Hamato: Now here's a ship that I want to get more into 😁😁 Honestly I love the idea of this pairing: the serious leadee x bubbly spirit! Kaysha is very perky yet understands Leo's feelings on shouldering so much responsibility (she being the oldest child in her family). She's very willing to support him because she doesn't want to see him get all weary from burden. Likewise Leo can be himself around her, and teach her to be more responsible. He doesn't doubt her potential and sees her as an equal even during those periods where she was not on par with the other ninja. Kaysha shows Leo it's okay to relax and let other people help him out and not shut everyone out. When Leo expresses his ability to give her a safe life she simply laughs it off; the way she sees it him simply there in her life is enough. The most interesting facet is their dynamic varies between shows, so you'd see different scenarios and reactions as well as similarities and differences in their romance subplot.
4. Artie x Rhodanthe: Another couple I seriously need to give more attention to, they're meant to be is the foil to Shrek and Fiona in several ways. Artie and Rho may come from different social classes but they're both searching for a purpose to prove their haters wrong. Artie lacked confidence while Rho was overconfident believing she didn't need help. Together Artie learns to stand up for not only for his kingdom and loved ones hut also for himself; Rho's pride gets tempered by Artie's kindness and willingness to compromise. Another thing I like is that Artie has someone who loves him for him not because he is attractive and of royal blood. Likewise Rho has someone who respects her in spite of her social standing & shares her beliefs in making life easier for the poor & outcasts. While both lacke the physical prowess of Shrek and Fiona they rely on each other's resourcefulness and strategic thinking to get by. Unlike Shrek and Fiona they don't get married at the end of their focus movie, resolving to figure out where to take their relationship next. They still have their own life goals and don't want to rush into a relationship which sends a pretty good message. However they have their disagreements - in fact they got a huge argument that became a plot point in Shrek Forever After - but through it all they rediscover the things that made them fall in true love with each other. I'm really loving the subplot I have planned where they forget their memories and slowly fall back in love again.
5. Finn x Alma: Surprise! Yes8 I have a Cars OC (that was originally a fanon Disney Princess) who is the niece of Tow Mater in my verse and she enters a relationship with Finn McMissile. The thing I love about this pair is that it allows Alma to use her skills to flourish, treating amd healing injured spies. She's also into travel and adventure so she can pretty much keep up with Finn. Likewise Finn realizes she is more than just a pretty face or a one-off fling but someone with the passion to face challenges head on; Finn seems to love a good challenge! But overall they'd make a nice pairing, Finn showing Alma the world and Alma showing Finn some of the more simpler things in life.
6. Alexander Paine & Qiu Jin: Well well well look at what the cat dragged in? If it isn't our first villain pairing? XD Just kidding only one half is a genuine villain. What makes this couple so unique in that their storyline goes way back to before the events of the show, he being a agent and she a mechanic. They loved each other deeply, even to the point of starting a family, but forced apart due to some troubling events. When they do get back together it's not so much a bittersweet reunion as Paine became a full villain and Qiu Jin had spent years in&out mental institution before being released There's visible pain & regret, Alexander desperately wanting a semblance of what they once had. He seeks power not just for himself for to heal her. But Jin refuses to go along with his schemes wanting nothing more than to move on and see their children. Jin is a huge Mortality Pet for him, but his own selfish desires for power is a major obstacle their love can't overcome. It's the more bittersweet of my pairings but an important one nonetheless.
7. Bruce Wayne x Nicola Holden: Ok the Brooding Guy/Gentle Girl trope is a mixed bag these days but I really like this trope in regards to Brucola. Like with Artie/Rho, Bruce and Nicola come from different social classes but has that same compassion and drive to help others. Nicola is someone Bruce can trust but at the same time she lets him know there are boundaries (aka don't use my weaknesses as a contingency plan). I also feel like Bruce needs a sort of normal love interest, while he has canon normal girlfriends most of them were pretty boring. At least with Nicola she has has a life outside being a love interest her own goals and motivations. She also loves Bruce for him, not because of his money and good looks. It's a generally healthy dynamic built on honesty & empathy. Another reason why I find this pair adorable is that it actually matches with the rest of the Trinity; you know, like how Superman is with a journalist and Wondy is with a soldier/agent. Nicola & Bruce having different ways of pursuing justice while still sharing similar moral codes. It helps that Nicola is actually a hero rather than an antihero/villain/straight villain (Bruce dating a villan would only make him look like a hypocrite). Nicola sees all facets of Bruce's life and makes the choice to stay; provides some much needed light not just in his life but also the rest of the Batfam. In turn Bruce has another connection to the normal world that is willing to be in his life and see him genuinely happy. They're mature adults who ground each other and build each other up.
8. Optimus Prime x Malina Lovelace: Okay is it just me or do I think TFA Optimus Prime needs more love? What's funny is that at first Malina didn't like the thought of being outshined by newcomers in her superhero career. Spending time with Optimus makes her realize that there's more to being a superhero than fame. Optimus doesn't look down on her, and is more than willing to work with her and appreciate her work. She becomes touched by his friendliness and aceepts him and the other Bots. At the same time Malina reminds Optimus that it's okay to make mistakes and move on, and that it's okay to cut toxic people out. I even wrote a noncanon ficlet where Malina calls out Sentinel and Blackarachnia for the way they treat Optimus. OptMalina is a romance built on respect despite the obvious differences. Not to mention they have each other's back, and they learn about each other each time. And just like with KayLeo and BatRose there's different continuities which means unique versions of the Optlina pair. The Bayverse *chortle* and Prime versions are a few I'd love to explore in the future!
Miscellaneous
- Chad Charming x Soraya Nedakh: Essentially snobby rich kid who learns to be self sufficient and see past appearances through a positive influence. Soraya helps Chad to understand that being royalty isn't just pretty clothes and parties but actually using that status to help others. And Chad actually has his views challenged: Soraya doesn't back down easily.
- Jetta x Zane: The concept of JettaZane (or A Touch Of Snow/IceMagic) is that the robot teaches the human what it's like to be human. Jetta started out as an extremely cold person and a loner, but her time with Zane - the literal ninja of ice - gradually melts her heart & she becomes more caring and accepting. So the robot programmed to be human helps the human raised to be a cold machine unlearn her toxic traits and reclaim her humanity. Also Pixane is kinda boring imo, like they're only together because they're both robots. Not very compelling if you ask me.
- Brian Crown x Kelly Arbol: The wellmeaning goofball and the beatnik poet are something I rarely see much of, but that pretty much sums up their ship. Brian may be a bit self centered but he has a heart of gold and through Kelly's influence he becomes more confident in being a worthy successor to his dad. Meanwhile Brian respects Kelly in and out costume and teaches her how to have fun. Not to mention Kelly interacts with someone outside her circle, which is a welcome change from the trope of only dating someone within your circle.
- Janus Lee x Lenora Rose: Another pair from the same show as Paine and Qiu Jin, there's not much to say on them other than it's one of the most tragic couples. Lenora died a long time ago due to circumstances beyond her & Mr. Lee's control and it's her death that was the catalyst to his gradual descent into evil. As the show goes on we see glimpses of their life together and realize that Lenora is more than the Ghost, she was someone with her own dreams and motivations. She and Janus were outcasts who found companionship in each other, and were able to build a life together using their hard-earned resources to help others. Even in the last few months of her life she didn't go down without a fight, wanting her legacy to be one of love and hope. It's her memory that may be the key to redeeming Mr. Lee in the future of A.T.O.M.
- Ben Florian x Paige: Again not much else to say but they're the antithesis of Mal x Ben. One thing that bothers me about Mal & Ben is that they are supposed to be equals when it's pretty darn obvious from the scenes they were not. With PaigeBen it's clear that they ARE equals who respect each other. Ben's agency isn't reduced to just love interest, he has someone he has good communication with and wants to see him succeed. Paige has someone who shares her interests and see her more than just that One American Newbie. They LEARN to work together without love potions involved. Plus we haven't had a commoner Disney Princess in a while so Paige fills in as someone who works her way into high status then uses that status to help others with Ben at her side.
That's enough of my Canon x OC OTPs! I hope to explore them more throughout the year :) I work hard to flesh out my OCs and their romantic storylines as if they're real 💚😌
I do have KayLeo week planned for Feb 14 to Feb 21 so don't be shocked when I start posting rottmnt stuff or art of Kaysha! Anyways these are my personal ships that I enjoy despite the lack of content I made of them, so hopefully I have the creative juices flowing to make more stuff! Final note I'm working on a platonic oc x canon meme to show that love doesn't have to be romantic. A

Shoujo mangakas - my (possible) top 3
So, these mangakas may not have written all of my favorite mangas, but they’ve made the list because I love most of their manga.
1. Mitsuki Kako
I have always loved her mangas. And I’ve read all of them, except for Dear! (for now) and part of Sai x Ai (lack of translation)
A few of them haven’t been translated to english yet – but I’ve heard Chibi Manga is working on them – so I read it in spanish.
To be completely honest, I absolutely love most of her works, but I’ll try to separate a few favorites.
My favorite one shots are Fly High! and Melodramatic Library.
As for the longer ones, Ai Hime – Ai to Himegoto and Kiss/Hug.
Btw, she also does josei (be warned, all of them are smut as well)
S Love – complete in spanish and portuguese, last few chapters coming out in english
Wana Love - complete in spanish and portuguese
Love Phantom - there are way more chapters available in spanish – or even portuguese – but they’re coming out in english as well.
Fly High!
Asuka, the ace of the volleyball club is training to become the best. But there's the devil coach, Nagano...
Melodramatic Library
A teacher at Kanae's school has been fired for having an affair with a student. Then, a hot new librarian comes in… Kanae falls in love with the new librarian. However, she sees a ring on his finger...?
Kiss/Hug
Ryuu, a super-business-like transfer student from England with black hair and blue eyes just arrived! During the night of the Tanabata festival, Ryuu and Yukino became attracted to each other at first sight. He then declares, "You will be mine!" This brought confusion to Yukino, who has zero experience in love. But could she actually be falling in love?
Ai Hime
They met. They kissed. The fate has brought them to be uncle and niece. Even though they're not blood-related, can Mao decide to love him and go through the struggles to give love for him?
Love Phantom
Momoko is just a mediocre who work at a cafe, but suddenly the fateful romance appear right in front of her....
S Love
27, single, a normal office lady. It's not like she's not interested in a relationship, but she doesn't want to get married. In front of this kind of modern woman, Kanako, appeared a lost man. Perhaps this is fate...!? No, but that guy is the last one she wants to love!
Wana Love
Mayuko is a model. She's acting like a beauty in front of guys but in fact she's suffering of an unrequited love with the cameraman Nagumo...Will she reveal her true nature through his lens...?
2. Kaji Eiri
I found out about her relatively recently, and have read all of her Romance mangas.
The couples are always super flirty, so I love it.
She only has 3 completely translated works (one of them is still being translated and just had its last volume published in japan) and I love them.
Also, all 3 of them are in the supernatural/fantasy genre.
Keishichou Tokuhanka 007
The "Special crime investigation department 007″ includes the most capable and extraordinary investigators and Fuyuki, who also becomes one of its members, is very capable, to. And she is paired with Kuze, a cool and very handsome detective. Their combination proves to be the most dangerous one the police headquarters had ever seen!
Kainushi wa Akuma
Most people love red hair. It's so vibrant and striking. But not our protagonist, Nora. Many people in her village hate her because she has red hair because of an old legend in the village. Though some people hate her, she still pulls on. But her not -so-ordinary life might become mysterious and dangerous soon... in more ways than one?!
Majo to Kiketsu no Kishi
The great snow-covered kingdom of Bistron, legend has it that an evil witch lives in the Black Forest at the edge of the kingdom… That very witch, Veronica finds herself summoned by the ruler of Bistron through his messenger of noble blood, Ignatius.
!! Shitsuji-dono no Ai Neko - still being translated
The prestigious Arima family has an excellent butler. When the head of the family takes in an exotic-looking bastard girl as a favor for his friend, it is up to the butler to tame her wildcat personality.
3. Murata Mayu
Her work is really really cute, both the story and the art.
Nagareboshi Lens hasn’t been fully translated yet, but Kogarashi Scans is working on it! You can read it in spanish though, or wait for the last 15 chapters in english.
And Honey Lemon Soda is still being released in japan.
Nagareboshi Lens
Risa is a high school student who has zero experience in love, but hopes to one day find that special someone. After an unexpected event, Risa now finds herself entangled with the most popular boy in her grade, Yuugure. Could this be the beginning of love for Risa...!?
Mata Ashita
Towa has always been shy around guys, despite being a total tomboy. This has crushed her chances of ever having a boyfriend, but a perhaps fateful encounter on the first day of high school might lead to love? But will it be with the surprisingly kind "angelic" delinquent, or the popular yet secretly "devilish" prince?!
Honey Lemon Soda
Fifteen-year-old Ishimori Uka is a very shy girl that can't stand being in front of someone. One day she meets a boy on the streets who's just as refreshing as lemon soda. He helped her when she was bullied and that boy made her wanting to change so she can properly express herself.
In the Chocolate
A collection of adorable one shots
