Okay, fine, I'll watch Episode 5 one more time.

I have watched this half a dozen times by now and I have straight up howled every time Ed says "this here is a ship, and it's a space ship." The delivery combined with the hand gestures - I'm dead. I'm finished. Fucking genius.

A couple posts down I expounded on the fact that Ed is literally wearing sackcloth, still fascinated by that. Also wondering how much trouble he's having making the change from the infamous leathers to a loose-fitting linen onesie :P

Thinking a lot about Ed offering to let Lucius push him off the ship when it soon becomes clear that that isn't exactly what Lucius needs - I guess I'll just leave it at, I love how neatly the show illustrates that everyone heals differently

The shot of Izzy training on the gundeck is gorgeous and I'm not just saying that because of the Pecs of Death. And I love that he took himself down there and set all that up and took up his training his own self, idk, it feeds a lot of my headcanon about what sort of person Izzy is outside the context of Blackbeard - disciplined and fastidious

Love a good training montage, especially one that involves ass-slapping. And I love this new normal where Stede and Izzy, like, hang out and converse.

I was so busy thinking about Lucius and Pete each reckoning separately with Ed that I forgot to think about Lucius and Pete reckoning with each other. So glad this is a part of the storyline.

The scene with Ed and Fang in the boat is like Lucius recounting his horrors a couple episodes ago, shouldn't be funny, but...it's funny

Lucius is a man of some learning, he should know that Izzy's shark story is not, strictly speaking, fiction: A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes an object or action in a way that isn't literally true, but helps explain an idea or make a comparison.  (Thanks, Grammarly!) Izzy's not covering up shit with that story, he's explaining an idea.

Anyone ever see Northern Exposure? There was a great scene in an early episode of that show where Joel was trying to figure out how Marilyn could sit still and quiet on her shifts as his receptionist and he was just boggled that she could, as Fang puts it, sit with herself. I'm not sure if this quote was from that episode, but I know it's a Marilyn quote: Words are heavy like rocks … they weigh you down. If birds could talk, they wouldn't be able to fly. That has stuck with me for a looong time. Anyway, sorry to blather, that's what this bit of Fang and Ed's conversation reminds me of.

So much to love about this scene, obviously. Much has already been written about the kiss (THAT KISS!!) and Ed asking to go slow and Stede meeting him where he's at, but I am obsessed with the way Ed looks down, ever so slightly surprised, when Stede takes his hand. When, in Ed's adult life, has someone held his hand in a romantic context? It really is perfect.

And all that is to say nothing of Sometimes it's nice to be patient and wait. Jesus H Christ. When those two finally fuck, brains are going to melt and run out of the ears of fans all over the world.

Tbh I don't really care about my follower count THAT much. Like, I learned that the hard way - sometimes less effort gives more followers. (Sideblog has 188 and I barely do any ACTUAL work on that one lol.) But hey, 50's pretty nifty! (That rhymes!) So I'm happy about that, and I'm glad 50 people have decided to join me on my little blog of horrors (ha).

Alright, let's talk about Caufield and Bratt.

Or, Why Cole Caufield Has Broken The Winger Market And Stereax Is Now Scared For Bratt And Timo's Contracts.

So Cole Caufield, noted Short King, just inked an 8-year, $62.8 million contract. This equates to $7.85m AAV. AAV is short for Average Annual Value - generally a lot of NHL contracts don't pay the same amount of actual money each year. Take a look.

Forgive my phone for not letting me capture the years or M-NTCs. Those aren't important to the point.

Caufield's contract is front-loaded. This means he's getting paid more salary in the beginning than in the end of the contract, especially with those signing bonuses (I can explain those in a different post if you'd like). Contrast this with Timo:

Timo's contract is back-loaded; the majority of his money is being paid in the final two years (especially the last year) of his contract. This is why Timo has that massive $10m QO (Qualifying Offer). Covered (some of) the intricacies of QO in another post, so I won't bore you here.

Okay, so we've taken a look at Caufield's contract. He's getting paid about $10m for the first three years, then it slides down to $8.7m and then four years at around $6m. It averages out to $7.85m annually over the length of the contract.

Why has this ruined the winger market, you might ask? Caufield is an incredibly skilled winger and this contract, assuming he stays healthy and continues producing, will likely look like an absolute steal in a few years, similar to the Jack Hughes contract. To that, I say: yes, you're absolutely right. But.

The New Jersey Devils have two incredibly skilled wingers that need contracts. These contracts will likely be large. These players are Jesper Bratt and Timo Meier. I'm going to focus mainly on Bratt here - Meier is a power forward under a different set of circumstances, and I've already done a dive on his contract (linked above). Bratt and Caufield are far more similar - undersize "skill" wingers. Here's a three-way comparison between Caufield, Bratt, and Kevin Fiala, who I've long touted as a Bratt comparable.

Career:

Last three seasons:

Fiala and Bratt are older than Caufield, and they've played more seasons; even in the three seasons check, Caufield lags due to injury and not being a mainstay lineup addition. Fiala leads most of these metrics, for better and worse. Important to note, once again: Fiala was the 11th pick. Caufield was the 15th. Bratt was the 162nd.

K. Fiala: 11.3% career shooting%, 78.5 points per season for the last 2 seasons. 0.98 ppg (points per game) for the last 3 seasons of which 0.38 gpg (goals per game) and 0.60 apg (assists per game).

C. Caufield: 14.1% career shooting%, 39.5 points per season for the last 2 seasons. 0.68 ppg for the last 3 seasons of which 0.43 gpg and 0.25 apg.

J. Bratt: 12.7% career shooting%, 73 points per season for the last 2 seasons. 0.86 ppg for the last 3 seasons of which 0.32 gpg and 0.54 apg.

Two things are notable about Caufield that differentiate him from Fiala and Bratt. Once again, Caufield is significantly younger and has not played a full season with the Habs yet (closest was 67 games in 21-22). Still has a lot of development room, also makes the per season stats look a lot worse than his on-ice performance. Secondly, Caufield is much more of a sniper - his G/A ratio (goals/assists) is 1.71, meaning for every assist he generates, he pots 1.71 goals. Fiala's G/A is 0.63; Bratt's is 0.59.

So what does Caufield's contract mean for Bratt?

Caufield has essentially set the winger market for this offseason, especially as he hasn't been proven yet. Again, think Jack Hughes here. He's clearly a great player, but teams historically don't tend to throw 8x8s at rookies coming off their ELCs, especially not rookies who've played maybe 60 game seasons up to that point and who are apparently injury prone. See all the points Bratt can use to point at Caufield and say he should get a higher salary? Especially as Bratt has played longer in the NHL?

Also notable is that Caufield's contract has only bought 3 of his UFA years (the years marked with M-NTC). Bratt's, if it goes to 8, buys 7 UFA years. UFA years, especially early UFA years, are incredibly valuable (a player can go to any team and has already earmarked these years to your team); this will also drive Bratt's price up.

The Caufield contract is high risk, high reward. If Caufield underperforms the contract, or gets injured a lot, it's an almost $8m IR hit. Bratt is a more proven commodity: we know he's a 70-point scorer in a season. Caufield has about that much in his entire career.

Are you seeing the picture now? With Caufield's signing, Bratt can walk into Fitzgerald's office and basically demand an 8x8.5.

Its the second time ive arrived in kakariko. This time the knowledge of this puppet zelda has been figured out and so the research can go on. I myself am pretty fond of these rylics. Though as i am the only one to be able to get them... it provides pressure.. im glad some of the sky islands in which i thought nothing of note was to be found. Still had some use.wortsworth and i had a good conversation about this matter and i gave him two. Now im on to research the rings. After that i should go get the last dragon tear geogliphe. What is it that really just happend to zelda, time travel can have her be really anywhere.

Tauro is the reason i came headfirst to kakariko the first time. I had no particular reason to get to kakariko at that time. But it was a nice detour as it was southward towards the gerudo's. I still wonder why his cloth is such a small size and yet he still wears it. Funny seeing him next to all others. Despite that him being a genius was an amazing discovery. Im truly surrounded by geniuses, may zelda return again.

I'm still in kaariko, i think the researches are looking at me crazy. But im really not that in a hurry for researching. The fact is i havent been here in so long even koko grew so much more. I went there once and i xouldnt get past the purple fog at all. I found hestu a few days later in the main place. And then this? Saying its weird is true. Il be going there when its on the route. Or just go to hestu bcs i would like to have a plan. Now i went back to the route towards hateno and i ahevnt been here so lonh while it was the plac ei went 103i2o29292x times. I spend my day towards kakariko, ofcourse i helped my dear korok i found along the way. As they once more warned me for the strangeness in the korok woods. It made me think as i continued my journey to hateno. Last time i found korok's they never spoke to me of issues, they only teased. Yet this time there is actually soemthing wrong! Could the korok tree be in danger.. or did malicious zelda puppet have been of influence. At least hestu is safe. I should go by still. Oh well i arrived in hateno.

Its my first night in the hotel, and i have seen alot of hateno's change. Loose of the known school which is great. I even went by my previous house which is TO MY SURPRISE zelda's. I say in a perspecfive from outside. But then i found a surprise in the well. My old... elastic... thing. Anyway. Went trough alot. Brother i wen ttrough that thing with them 100 years ago shit and and the thing from a few years ago man. I foudn a note, my clothing is left in the throne room. Yet i dont really dare going back.. especcialy after that last encounter with the ghost of ganondorf. I have never eaten so much. Although i just needed 3 times to understand his strategy. The first time he made the miasma spread was very scary... well at least i survived. Esp when them champions arrived. Now to hateno. I found the legend of cece ive been hearing all over. Her clothings are very nice, i helped her out with the mayor voting selection. I even helped them out getting some cheese. The moemnt i had that cheese i made the most beuaitufl pizza. Well, further than that i helped the kakariko grannie, havent seen the sister come by hateno tho. I finished by helping out in hsitroy and cooocking class.. it was a nice few days hideout. Now on to the last dragontear, and finding out where zelda truly is.. ill go to the rings with tauro after. It was rare that Yusuke had so much free time, or even enough to relax with you. Big tests were already thrown all around you, and Yusuke was preparing for each and every one inbetween painting.

You didn’t mind too much, though. You appreciated the smaller gestures of his love, small doodles left at your locker planted by the other thieves for him.

Though you’d admit, laying together beneath a soft blanket was equally as nice.

“You seem quiet, my love. Is everything okay?” Yusuke asked, stirring you from your thoughts.

“I’m okay. Just thinking.” You replied, smiling and rubbing your nose against his.

Yusuke didn’t understand the point of the gesture, but his body clearly registered it as affection as his cheeks flushed and turned to a soft pink.

You chuckled at the look, interlocking your hands with his. They were slender, and intertwined easily with yours. It was a cliche comparison, but you always said it was like two puzzle pieces.

“How has school been going for you? I know our current distance can be hard.” Yusuke noted, pulling you closer.

“I’ve been okay. Ryuji and Haru have been keeping me company. At least we see eachother after, right?” You chipped in.

He smiled and nodded, “Yes I’m grateful. I cherish the moments between us.”

“Me too.” You sighed, curling into him with a content sigh.

You thought this was the peak, that your night couldn’t have gotten any better. That life was at its all time high..

Until a chilling feeling brought you back to Earth.

You let out a yelp of alarm, tugging backwards. Yusuke looked shocked at your reaction and sat up. “Did I displease you? Are you alright?” He asked, brows furrowing. He leaned closer to inspect you, causing another jolt of cold.

“Quit touching me, your feet are cold!” You laughed, nudging him away playfully.

Yusuke froze, and his shoulders dropped im relief. He was glad you were okay, but a small smile grew at the realization.

“My apologies. I don’t have a heater.” He smiled bashfully, laying back down on his pillow.

“It’s okay, hon. It was just alarming.” You admitted, kissing his cheek.

Yusuke nodded before a small smile grew on his lips. “Perhaps you could warm my hands up for me then?”

The offer made your face grow warm, but regardless you took his hands in yours easily. The cold contrast made another chill go down your spine, but you kept your hands interlocked regardless.

His lips rested on your knuckles briefly, before he lowered his stare to meet yours. He smiled again, lowering his head to lay in your neck.

“When I was stuck with Madarame.. I didn’t find myself worthy of things like this.” He confessed.

“But.. With you, I know I am. That we were meant for one another. I’ve never felt a love like this.”

“I love you, so much.” He said softly, breath feathering against your skin.

“I love you.” You replied happily, bringing a hand up to pull through his blue hair.

“I’m happy you know you recognize your worth.” You whispered, pressing your lips to his cheek.

“As am I.”

He took the opportunity to lean down again, capturing your lips with his.

You never got tired of the way his cerulian eyes would sparkle when he tugged away, like he had just won the lottery.

“You’re gorgeous. Don’t forget that, love.” Yusuke complimented, burying his head into your neck.

“And don’t you forget how incredible you are, ‘Yu.” You grin, pulling him inpossibly closer.

These were the moments you truly cherished.

Legend goes when the world was formed, the mortal races, mortalis, were created with the gift of magic. But as time passed their hubris grew, and the sheevra were created to curb their pride.

When it comes to these chaotic and malevolent beings, the lands are full of cautionary tales. Though some would tell you that the stories are just that. To them, names have no power. There are no mysterious deals to fear, and the figure who seduces you into an alley at midnight is certainly no malicious spirit.

Which luckily for you means easy prey.

(INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT UNDER THE INTERVIEW!)

Q1: First of all, introduce us to your project! What is it about?

The Nameless is a mishmash of fey stories and a... teetering on apocalyptic setting? The world itself is almost completely covered by desert save for four regions and cities that have maintained life around them. The origins of that desert, the Arids, are said to have been from wars thousands of years ago where there was too much magic siphoned from the world, and the cost was desolation.

The reader enters the story as a sheevra (the fey-based race) who's been taught that all this was the mortal race’s doing in their desire for power. And that the sheevra were created to take that energy back from them via deals and names to slowly restore the world's more verdant state.

If you asked the mortalis though, they'd sing a different tune. To them, the sheevra are the remnants of the entity mainly responsible for the state of the Arids, and they're the reason why the world is stuck like it is.

Where does the truth actually fall? Well…

The game itself kicks off when one of the four sheevra clans in the world goes missing, and you're sent to investigate what happened. Though whether or not you really want to find out remains to be seen.

Q2: If it’s not too spoilery, what are you most excited about your project?

I'm definitely buzzing over some of the reveals behind the Arids and other features of the world, and how things are tied together. The puzzle will start getting filled in towards the end of Book 1 and will culminate in the final major choice of the entire story, and I'm really excited to see how people handle it.

I'm also looking forward to exploring more of the backstories of the romances and various characters, and also for more descriptions of magic-tech and how that's integrated into each of the cities (had a BLAST with this in upcoming content). Just in general, excited to continue bringing the world to life!

Q3: What inspired the current project you’re working on?

The Nameless was initially sparked by a D&D NPC, Oisein's predecessor who was far more bitter and not quite the sarcastic chaos gremlin they are today.

Specifically from Kobold Press' Courts of the Shadow Fey, this NPC was supposed to be just a one sentence rumor. But (of course) my players decided to pursue that route more in depth. Said character that I made up on the spot then ended up being a regular that I eventually made into a PC for another campaign. And...things sort of spiraled and transformed from there as I created their backstory and fell in love with the characters who would then become the four romances of the game.

There's also a theme I've been wanting to write about for a long time which might lend itself to spoilers, that I was finally able to find a home for in the world of The Nameless. So it's a dash of old and new ideas!

Q4: Do you pull from your own identity for inspiration? How has that been reflected in your work?

There's some indulgent, more obvious ones like the city of Han, which is directly named after the Han River in Korea and is, well, the City of Rivers. There's also small references to Korean folklore within the sheevra that will probably continue to show up, and you better believe Korean inspired food and clothing will make an appearance haha.

But below the surface level, I think a lot of the mannerisms and backstories of the characters may unconsciously be affected by my identity. Until someone asked me about modern ethnicities for the love interests, I didn't realize how much I had tied my mixed culture into these characters. But I'm happy to have that little piece intertwined in their personalities, their values, and their attitudes, as a small nod to my own Korean-American background.

This will probably become more evident in the settings too. There's a lot of mixed inspirations and sources in the architecture, environment, and culture of each city that I'm looking forward to expanding on.

So yeah, it's kind of funny to see that manifest in my writing, but hopefully it helps to build up an interesting and unique environment for readers to immerse themselves in!

Q5: What’s been your experience so far? With writing, with the if community...

For writing in general, this is by far the largest project I've ever taken on, and there was and is a learning curve when adjusting for interactive fiction. But I've enjoyed the freedom and variation I've been able to build into this story with this medium, and think it continues to take shape in ways I never initially planned but love to see!

For the IF community, it's definitely been positive! I kind of just chucked this story out there not expecting much from it and figured it would be hard for anyone else to get into. Honestly I thought that maybe just a few people would see it, but that it would mostly be self indulgent.

But the support from other writers and readers and the questions I've received has just been amazing, and I’m glad I dived deeper into the IF community. Especially when the self-doubt inevitably creeps in and you have those moments of "oof this is terrible". The positive words and encouragement mean so much, and I don't think I'll ever be able to express how much it helps. I'm also really happy to have found an overall inclusive community, and hope I can extend that space into this game!

Q6: Do you have any future projects in the works?

None at the moment, my focus is mainly on writing The Nameless and continuing to develop features for the Twine version!

Q7: Finally, what piece of advice would you give to fellow authors?

Don't let yourself get down by comparisons. It's easy to slip into, and I'm definitely guilty of it too! But no one's going to tell your story like you can and the way you want it, so it's up to you to share that with the world!

I've definitely been meaning to reviewing some of your works fore sure! Manga's still on hiatus last I checked (that special about bumps in the arms was or ch 27 I think the last one?). The Anime is getting a 2nd season this year so =D for that. I have a ton of hc's/views so I'm glad you didn't mind me blabbing. Combine that with his protective drives and you've got a cell who tries to bear a lot of burdens. If Backwards Cap kun hadn't shown up 1146 might have just kept killing germs non stop w/o rest. Speaking of BK, it was really cute how 1146 right away saw how similar he was to 3808. Her cute blushing happy -

3 face popping up when he made the comparisons makes me think that's how he always pictures her in his head. XD It also goes back to my view 1146 really looks up to 3803 too. When he was telling KillerT about how amazing she was and watching her made him want better relationships w/all cells (whereas before he never thought about what other cells did). Then w/BK he got very emotional/invested when he learned how much the platelet struggles reminded him of 3803's. 1146 overall seems like a guy-

4 likes to root for the underdog. Before he was just the top dog surrounded by a bunch of other top dogs (even Eosinophil was totally awesome at her specialty). He never thought about the personal struggles of others. Even if he was really nice about it, I think he also thought 3803 was a weird cell for getting lost a lot initially. That's why seeing her move past any embarrassments/mistakes/ridicule makes him feel pride for her. After all he freaks out when cells find out he likes karaoke. XP

Hello again, dear anon! There’s a new season coming out this year! Oh my gosh, I’m so pumped! Perhaps I might be getting back into the fandom after all. And yeah, I think the last chapter that was every released was with the Megakaryocyte and Backwards Cap-kun if I remember correctly. 

Hahaha, and yeah, his friend must think it really word that 1146 is so dutiful. But who would he be without that personality trait? :D I totally agree with your interpretation of his character. He certainly will go over and beyond the line of duty and he probably doesn’t have time for himself. I usually wrote 2001 like this, but he’s definitely a serious, stoic workaholic...but of course, that all changes when you bring 3803 into the equation. There, he just breaking melts like ice cream on a sunny day. All sweet and sappy.

That whole interaction between 1136 and Backward Cap was so cute! I want more 1146 with protective instincts towards other cells, especially cells that look like small children. Which brings me to another point: more platelet content!

As for the underdog thing, yup. Totally. But I don’t think 3803 is an underdog anymore. She has made progress in the last few episodes/chapters of CAW and it shows. She gets her own mentee, has made her way to the heart without help (I mean, 1146 had to make sure that her way wasn’t obstructed, but it still counts), and she demonstrated how dedicated she was to the body in that one chapter/episode with hypovolemic shock. In fact, I daresay that she is one of the most powerful characters in the series. She’s kind and empathetic, has shown so much growth, and it’s pretty much canon that she can lift very VERY heavy things. You know how much oxygen weighs? Hahahah, but I’m rambling.

CONFESSIONAL 1.1 — Walking into the Great Hall, I saw a few familiar faces... for not good reasons!

First Jacob, who I know from tengaged. He and I were in a similar friend group for a short period before he left it, but we had a rocky relationship. We flirted a bit (blame 16-year-old Nicholas), but that is in the past.

Secondly, Jess... who I just directly sent home in Eve’s The Challenge: Fresh Meat. She did not have great words to say to me (such as I’m condescending), so I was very wary and, honestly, unhappy with her being here.

But, as Kylie Minogue says, it’s better the devil you know.

Flash forward to the Sorting Ceremony, and I’m so happy to be.. Slytherin? I told Mister Vintage (Sammy) and Mister Heinen (Caeleb) that I’m either a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, but I suppose I’ve been lying to myself.

Then, I see my tribe: both Jess and Jacob are present. This is a curse wrapped in a blessing wrapped in an enigma. And, I love it.

I hate, hate, hate conflict and bad vibes, so I directly spoke to both. Jacob did not easily recognize me, but remembered me fondly; so, a successful reacquaintance. Jess, on the other hand, was definitely more apprehensive (as was I), but I made one thing clear: the past is the past, and I am declaring my loyalty.

I have been hurt in previous games by shoving the past aside while the other is still grudgingly aiming for revenge, but I feel Jess is different. She apologized to me about her words, which did hurt, and I apologized to her. What I said was honest, so I’m glad to see a fateful blossoming.

The first reward challenge is revealed, and honestly, I’m really bad at participating in pre-merge competitions, because I do not mind tribal. However, I do want to, since we are such a small tribe, focus on maintaining our numbers in case of a swap. We came in second this reward, and honestly, I’m glad to have eaten cupcakes (although I hate cherry). The fact we all chose a dessert and were privately messaged makes me assume someone received an advantage, but who knows...

What I DO know is that I had two separate relationships, so I wanted to lock a trio down (Me, Jess, Jacob), but I obviously did not want to gamebot this early and make the chat day one. So, naturally, i waited until after immunity.

Speaking of immunity... I took charge, because I like it, but also, I wanted to be able to take blame if we lost. I hate the whole “let’s vote someone out cuz they cost us a virtual challenge” this early in the game, it’s a cheap way to vote. I want to vote on loyalty and activity instead. That’s why I am probably going to target Jessie or Vi, but I‘m unsure as to which will be my vote. On one hand, Vi is much less social, but she also contributed a lot to the challenge. I do not want to judge a book by it’s cover, so I will reach out to her and assess her vibe.

I like going to tribal first, because my philosophy is that it’s better to test loyalties now, rather than guess loyalties later.

Regarding other players, Jules and Juls just played in a mini with me and sheeped the majority alliance to screw me over, so I’m not feeling them right now. Bitterness doesn’t exist in my mind: play well and I respect it; sheep and be stupid, and I will gladly dish out the karma. 

I’m satisfied with the happenings of this game so far, and I hope to make it further!! This is one of my first real orgs so, I’m em definitely excited. x. nick

WELL WELL WELL!!!!!!! as far as my relationships go which is where i left off last round, really nothing much has changed about how i feel about or view my tribemates, but in exciting news... we won immunity!! i am not going to be first boot that is so nice, and im hoping that we can keep winning immunity until a swap so I can feel more secure. I think I could stand a shot if we lost on this tribe but i think if so the vote would split 3-2 i dont think i can get a unanimous vote on anyone unless its myself which is NOT WHAT WERE TRYNA DO HERE !! if anything i feel like i have the best chance to wiggle myself in with the girls (lily and ruthie) Max would probably be my ideal first vote if we ever lose an immunity because I know landen can be useful in challenges, but he YET AGAIN addressed me with a name that does not sit well with me he called me a "challengewhore" yet another reference to TS 2020, so this is not a good sign. Ideally I could get landen out and still be set but i know he has a relationship with juls who i also have a relationship with and wish to continue to have in this game, and us going against each other could make that more stressful than it needs to be because i know landen avenged beck for voting juls out maybe juls would do the same for him? Much to think about, but thankfully i dont have to think about it all that hard because yet again we ARE SAFE !!! woo, anyways thats pretty much it hopefully we can keep winning :D

I am very happy to have won this immunity challenge. We barely won, but I managed to pull my tribe to a victory. Emphasis on the "I" part. I am very frustrated with my tribe's lack of challenge activeness and ability. If the time did not work for them, then I do not know why they even suggested doing it at 2 PM. This challenge would have gone faster if I had done everything myself. In the end, though, I hope this helps in me staying in the game because I am a necessity if they want to ever win a challenge in first place. I highly doubt that they could do it without me.

So I’m currently writing this with one hand because my cat decided to lie on my other one  anyways Nobody is really talking about the vote which means it’s probably me going but I’ll see what I can do to change that

Here's a breakdown of my first few experiences since I am writing this a few hours before the first tribal council.

FIRST I was cast in this game along with a BUNCH of people that are icons across different formats of Tumblr Survivor - so that's intimidating. Mostly because my play style is kinda vanilla in comparison. I gotta find a way to stand out or I'm going to be thrown out fast.

SECOND There's a twist that will probably have some major effect at some later point in the game where everyone is added to the Great Hall. I think that it's for convenience of posting things like results and challenges so it only has to be sent to one chat... but also so that we can feel THEMATIC which is a lot of fun.

The game started in the Great Hall and we got sorted into our houses and the implication was that it's random but.. I don't think it's entirely true if I can read into what the hosts said to me once I was sorted into Gryffindor (something about running out of room in Hufflepuff) - because I definitely didn't say Gryffindor in my application.

THIRD My tribe has the following people: Joshua, Juls, Raffy, Autumn, and myself. 

I do not know how many of theme said Gryffindor when they applied but also did not want to bring it up to them as I am masquerading as a brave idiot. :D

Anyway, I started conversations with all of them and they all seem very sweet!!

I've played in a game before with Raffy where he was super snakey but also a great ally until he tried to snake me. So there's that... he's also an "over the top" type of person so he takes charge a lot of the time and voices his opinions about everything. I hope we can create some sort of working relationship in the game, but I think that he will tell me the truth if he does align against me.

Autumn is super chill and super strategic-minded. She puts lots of thought into all of her decisions and makes calls that benefit her getting to the end while trying to align with the right people. If I can't get to the FTC of this game... TBH I want to make sure she gets there. I played with her in one game and we both were tossed out one after another when the game turned on our "side". I don't think that relationship will factor into this game as it was forever ago and we both kinda play "new" every time we start a game but I'm hoping she will want to try and play with me just because I've seen how great she is at the game.

Juls is a very fun person who seems to always be having a great time! I found out she lives in Texas too and that she was excited to get to know me because we are from the same state. I was like.. do I know you? Because when she messaged me the way she did implied that she knew who I was and I was thinking OH NO what have people said.

Joshua seems really sweet. He hasn't added incredibly much to conversations so far with him but he has contributed some fun things. I love that he tries to be entertaining, but as I see it so far he's the first person I'd be willing to vote out if it came to our tribe going to council... though of course, having said that I bet they've all declared me their first choice.

FOURTH The reward challenge was the Letter plus Number challenge so as predicted...

I did terribly and earned 0 points for our tribe and was SO happy it was not for immunity.

The immunity challenge was a Choose Your Own Adventure Puzzle.

We got a slow start in that I feel like everyone was afraid to make a move because that would put a target on whoever "failed for the team". Then me and Raffy kind of got things rolling with him taking the main leader role and me taking on a secondary role either agreeing with his suggestions or contributing a suggestion for what we should do.

There was a misunderstanding with the competition and we ended up making a whole bunch of extra moves because it was unclear to us that the letters we found at a later part of the challenge were able to be changed into numbers at a lockbox so we did a bunch of extra stuff... and I was resigned to the fact we were going to the first tribal when we go surprised that Slytherin... DID WORSE!!! O_O

Anyway... I still have no alliances or confirmed "working game" relationships and I really don't feel like starting those conversations at the moment so if I am out of the ones established or on the bottom of one that will add me to "pick me up" for later votes then I blame myself for not trying hard enough in that category.

FIFTH I definitely didn't just now search for the idol and waste two days that I could have searched other times. Nope! Not me!! :)

Anyway I went on a trip to Hagrid's Hut because I love me some Hagrid and I figured he'd let me in since I"m a Gryffindor and he loves us the best (you know, like a reverse Snape)... I dug through all of his junk and found his umbrella. Apparently I liked that it was pink and then left his hut. 

To be honest, I probably should have taken his dragon's egg and turned him in... maybe could have gotten him fired.

Someone finally got me to come out of retirement- can you believe it

It's been cute so far and I have no complaints, probably cause the hosts wisely put me, Owen, and Dan in separate corners lmao. Yooo if we all make it to merge?? Hell hath no fury. But we will cross that bridge when we get there! And for now I enjoy the calm before the storm. I deadass forgot how to be an org so I need all the time I can get to socialize and reacclimate. Me checking Skype more than once a year? Don't remember ever doing that. I love Raffy, it's always good to see Chips, I think I like Juls, and I'm not sure how I feel about Joshua but it's fine. I like Gryffindor cause we have no beef and I hope it stays that way.

ok so my tribe lost :( big sad. but im def ok bc jess is soooo close to me and we made a threesome with nick so. i think jessie is an easy first boot bc shes not around as much as vi. but really its our decision at the end of the day!

here’s the hot goss.. i’m a little upset i didn’t get anyone i Know on my house/tribe but also grateful HSBSNSNN all i know is that so far i’ve been doing pretty solid in securing relationships with those on my team (at least.. i hope so :flushed:) and i’m hoping they all like me hehe. kinda praying to just mist my way to merge where i can be united with people who like me enough to keep me around still.. >:D

Book Review: Satis Shroff Book Review-Kathmandu Blues: The Inheritance of Loss and Intercultural Incompetence by Satis Shroff 'My characters are purely fictional,' says Kiran Desai. In her book (The Inheritance of Loss) she has tried to do exactly that, namely to capture her own knowledge about what it means to travel between East and West, and to examine the lives of migrants who are forced to hypocrisy, angst of being nabbed, and have biographies that have gaps, and whose lives are constructed with lies, where trust and faith in someone is impossible, as in the case of Sai and Gyan. Migration is a sword with sharp blades on both sides. The feeling of loss when one leaves one's matribhumi is just as intensive and dreadful as having to leave a foreign home, due to deportation, when one doesn't have the green-card or Aufenthaltserlaubnis. Everyone copes with such situations differently. Some don't have coping solutions and it becomes a traumatic experience for the rest of one's life. Some pull up their socks, keep a stiff upper-lip and begin elsewhere. The problem of illegal migration hasn't been solved in the USA, Britain, France, Germany and other European countries. It is an open secret that the illegal migrants are used as cheap laborers according to the hire-and-fire principle, for these people belong to the underclass. In the USA it's chic to have Hispanics as baby-sitters, just as Eastern Bloc women are used by German families to do the household chores. Nepalis work under miserable conditions in India as darwans, chowkidars, cheap security personnel and the Indians have the same arrogance as the British colonialists. The judge, Lola and Noni are stereotypes, but such people do exist. It's not all fantasy. I'm sure the Gurkhas looking after photo-model Claudia Schiffer and singer Seal's house and guarding the palace of the Sultan of Brunei are well paid and contented, in comparison to other people in Nepal and the Indian sub-continent. What does a person feel and think when he or she goes from a rich western country to the East? And what happens when a poor Indian comes to the USA (land of plenty) or Germany (Schlaraffenland)? Is there always a feeling of loss? I've been living thirty years in Germany and I have met and seen and worked with migrants with biographies from Irak, Iran, Turkey, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Kosovo, Albania, Croatia and East Bloc countries. The worst part of it is that the Germans ignored the fact that it had already become, what they call 'ein Einwanderungsland.' They thought they'd invited only guest workers after World War II, with limited stay-permits, not realizing that they'd encouraged human beings with families and emotional ties, hopes and desires of a better future in the new Heimat with for their children and their grand-children. Kiran Desai flashes back and forth, between Kalimpong and New York, and she uses typical clich's and Indian stereotypes that have also been promoted by Bollywood. She's just as cynical and hilarious with her descriptions of fellow Indians in the diaspora, as she is when she describes the Gorkhalis in Darjeeling. Her portrait of the Nepalis in Darjeeling is rather biased, but what can one expect from a thirty-six year old Indian woman who has been pampered in India, England and the USA? Her knowledge of Kalimpong and Darjeeling sounds theoretical and her characters don't speak Nepali. She lets them speak Hindi, because she herself didn't bother to learn Nepali during her stay in Kalimpong. The depiction of a Gorkhali world might be true, as far as poverty is concerned, but she has no idea of the rich Nepali literature (Indra Bahadur Rai, Shiva Kumar Rai, Banira Giri to name a few), and folks music in the diaspora. Gyan's role was overdone, especially when Sai demands that he should feel ashamed of his and his family's poverty and so-called low descent. What is Gyan? Is he a Chettri, Bahun, Rai Tamang, or even a Newar? Describing a country, landscape is one thing, but creeping into the skins of the characters is another. The Gorkha characters remain shallow, like caricatures in Bollywood films, and she overdoes it with the dialogue between Sai and Gyan. For someone like me, who also went to school in Darjeeling, Kiran Desai's book was a pleasant journey into the past, where I still have fond memories of the Darjeeling Nepalis, their struggle for recognition and dignity among the peoples of the vast Indian subcontinent. I'm glad that peace prevails in the Darjeeling district, although I wish Subash Ghising had negotiated more funds from the central Indian government, and a university in Darjeeling. Gangtok (Sikkim) also does not have a university. The recognition of Nepali was a positive factor, but a university each for Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong would have given more Nepalis (pardon, Gorkhalis) the opportunity for higher education and better jobs, if not in the country, then abroad. To eat dal-bhat-tarkari at home and acquire MAs and PhDs within one's familiar confines would have immensely helped the Gorkhali men and women, even more than the recognition of Nepali. We can regard it as a small step towards progress. The description of Gyan's visit to Kathmandu was extremely superficial. Kathmandu is a world, a cosmos in itself, with its exquisite temples and pagodas and stupas and the culturally rich Newaris families from Lalitpur, Bhadgaon and Kathmandu. Kiran is, and remains, a supercilious brown-memsahib, like the made-over English characters of Varindra Tarzie Vittachi's fiercely satirical book 'The Brown Sahibs' in her attitude towards Gorkhalis and the downtrodden of her own country. I can imagine that the Nepali author D.B. Gurung is piqued about Desai's portrayal of the Nepalis in Kalimpong as 'crook, dupe, cheat and lesser humans' and his own emotional rejoinder regarding the Bengalis as 'the hungry jackals from the plains of Calcutta.' Since D.B. Gurung is known for his poetic vein, perhaps he can treat the long standing problems between Indians and Nepalis, or as Desai puts it, Bengis and Neps, in his lyrical verses. But please, less of the vitriol and more of tolerance, because even a poet and novelist can make or break human relations. I, for my part, am for living together, despite our differences, for variety is the spice of life in these days of globalization. Vive la difference. The story is served like a MacDonald's Big Mac for the modern reader, who has not much time, and there are multi-media distractions craving for his or her attention. As small morsels of information, like in a sit-com. I found the story-pace well timed and interesting, and she has a broad palette of problems that migrants face when they leave their homes, and when they return home. You can feel with Bijhu when he embraces his Papa in the end. A foreign-returned son, stripped of all his belongings. It was a terrific metaphor. I'm glad that there are women like Kiran Desai and Monica Ali (Brick Lane) who've traveled and experienced what it is like to be in the diaspora and try to capture the emotional and historical patterns in their lives as migrants. When you read the last page of the Desai's book you feel a bit dissatisfied because you wish that the unequal love affair between Gyan and Sai will go on and take a positive turn. There are so many Nepali-Indian couples who live happy conjugal lives with their families. I know at least three cases of Nepali women who're married to Bengalis. The Nepali women speak perfect Bengali, but their husbands don't speak Nepali, even though they live in Gorkhaland. They are proud that they can speak English instead. Nepali (Gorkhali or Khas Kura) is such a colorful and melodious language and we ought to listen to Sir Ralph Turner's when he says: 'Do not let your lovely language become the pale reflexion of a sanskritised Hindi.' Dinesh Kafle calls Desai 'schizophrenic.' Well, when you talk with an Indian he always praises the achievements of India in terms of the second Silicon Valley (Bangalore), the Agni and Prithvi missiles, the increasing nuclear arsenal, the expanding armed forces etcetera. But, Gott sei dank, there are Indians, who like Gandhi, are humble, religious, practice humility, are poor, deprived, castless, untouchables and, nevertheless, human and full of empathy, clean in their souls and hearts, and regard this world as merely a maya, an illusion, an earthly spectacle to be seen and felt---without being attached. D. B. Gurung is wrong when he assumes that Desai seems 'unable to acclimatize herself to either the western milieu or her own home.' But where is her home? She's a rootless, creative jet-set gypsy, who calls India, England and USA her home. The gypsies (Sintis and Romas) were originally from India (Rajasthan), weren't they? Even V.S.Naipaul (Half a Life, The Mimic Men), J. M. Croatzee (Youth), Isabel Allende (The Stories of Eva Luna) and Prafulla Mohanti (Through Brown Eyes) haven't gone so far in their description of a race or nation the way Desai has in her book. What is missing in her writing is the intercultural competence. Instead of taking the trouble to learn Nepali and acquiring background knowledge about the tradition, religion, norms and values, culture and living style of the Gorkhalis in Darjeeling and the Nepalese in Nepal, and comparing it with her own Indian culture, and trying to seek what is common between the two cultures and moving towards peace, tolerance, reconciliation---she just remains adamant , like her protagonist Sai. She does not make an ethnic reflection, but goes on and on, with a jaundiced view, till the bitter end. The dialogue between Neps and Bengis, between Neps and other Indians (Beharis and Marwaris and others from the plains) or between the British and Indians cannot be described as successful intercultural dialogues. The dialogues are carried out the way it should not, because there's always a fear that one is different in terms of social and ethnic status, even between her two main protagonists: Sai and Gyan. There is no attempt to reveal the facts behind an alien in a new cultural environment, no accepting of the problems of identity and no engagement for equality and against discrimination. If you're looking for frustrations-tolerance, empathy and solidarity with the Gorkhalis in the book, it's just not there. The characters necessary for intercultural interaction are joy in interaction with foreign cultures (not arrogance and egoism), consciousness of one's own culture, stress tolerance, tolerance of ambiguity, and bucketfuls of empathy. Had she shown empathy towards the Nepalis from Darjeeling and Kalimpong and made a happy-end love story between Gyan and Sai, the Nepalese would have greeted her with khadas and marigold malas. The way it is, she has only stirred a hornet's nest. Kiran just doesn't have empathy for Neps, despite the Booker Prize. Great women are judged by the way they treat the underprivileged and downtrodden. Perhaps it's time for meditation and self-searching in Rishikesh, like the Beatles. First thing I’ll do when I’m back in Japan is go to a convenience store and buy a haagen dazs sandwich haha. Japanese/Asian convenience stores are like the antithesis of grungy X’D they’re almost sparkling in comparison to the ones here in North America. Are there any convenience store snacks you might want to try?

There does tend to be more modern exhibits around, but I’ve never actively looked up the more traditional older-style exhibits though. The interactive ones are a lot cooler in comparison because you actually get to interact with it, and watch what happens because of you. People in Japan normally took pity on us when we played in Akihabara in Tokyo! ahhh, maybe! maybe i’ll visit her this summer? or maybe i’ll be too busy catching up on all the sleep i lost during the school year :’) aaskdfjlhas i won’t be able to get a pet until i’m fully settled into my own place and financial stable, which won’t be for at least another two years. yeah, unfortunately for me, there doesn’t seem to be many traditional style art nearby. that’s why i spend hours upon hours in the art museums in europe when i do get the chance to go there. and same!! i read the description and study every angle of the art piece, but i still don’t understand it?? 

yes! interactive art is super fun, and it’s so cool that you can be a part of art with those. oooh, okay, i see!! hopefully, the people will be just as nice when i try playing the crane machines– or maybe i should just buy the plushies since it might be cheaper than me feeding all my money to those games :’) alskdjfhas but it’s ramen!!! there is no such thing as a high number in weight. every number is great and amazing. but omg costume measurements? what’s your costume for?

yes, i agree!! the fun of traveling comes from seeing new things all the time! heck, i haven’t even seen everything where i live. i think we might road trip to the beach or an amusement park! we’re not sure yet, or we might just drive randomly and see where it takes us :D the trusty gps will always take us back. and thank you!! omg for my friend’s bday, we went to a nice crepe place for brunch and then we did one of those color me mine type places and i painted a cute mug for my father’s day present, and it was so much fun– i miss art so much

omg i think i just loved chain so much because winwin finally got a line!!! and yuta finally got a lot of lines too!!! (and thank god because it’s a japanese song and i would’ve sued if yuta got nothing) oooh, taeyeong is honestly the ideal type, like his personality is so darn kind and sweet and perfect and if you talk to any nct stan, i’m 99% sure taeyong is always their bias or their bias wrecker. even if you don’t bias him, you bias him. but also yes, his stage presence is amazing!!! like wow, even the camera people are drawn to him even when he isn’t the center.  his english raps are also really funny to read tho asdkjfhals

did you see the bp lightstick?? it’s like one of those toy hammers from weekly idol. LATATA IS SO DARN CATCHY, I FIND MYSELF LISTENING TO IT EVERYDAY TOO. and same! although the exception to that rule for me would be day6 because i don’t know all the members, but i listen to all their songs. and oh my gosh, that’s so long :O since dbsk first started?? i just looked it up and that was 2003 oh my gosh, i was only 4 or 5 then wow.
