Felix held up his cup of rum and announced to the rest of his pirate crew

"Tonight we shell drink! For all are work!"

His crew tiered as they all started to drink and have fun.

A loud crash erupted and silence fell across Felix's crew and one of the pirates went to go see what had made that noise.

"CAPTAIN! There's a mermaid caught in a fishnet!"

He had yelled to his captain.

Felix storm his way towards the crew member that had said that there was a mermaid.

"You say a mermaid is caught in our fishnet? Well I need to see this. . . ."

And there you sat your tail a lavender purple faded into pink at the end your fish ears down and shaky as your tail is tangled and the fishnet, you squeaked at the pirate crew to try and get them to let you down but instead back into the water you let down into the ship.

"Well aren't you a pretty little mermaid, aren't ya?"

Felix said as his hand pulled at your fish ear and a squeak left your rouge tinted lips

"Can't ya speak english? Y'all merfolks? You little mermaiden?"

Felix said in a cocky tone as he eyed you up and down and then pulled on your h/c hair that was wet from water

"Boys what should we do you this lost little mermaid?"

Felix said as he held you up by your arm.

"Do we keep her!"

"Or"

"Sell her to the black market!"

Felix yelled as his crew yelled for to keep you at the ship

"Already then we keep her! She will stay in the captains' quarters with me."

You let out a yelp as Felix picked you up and took you to his quarters.

It had been three days with these pirates although the captain has been kind to you but won't let you go.

Felix has also been trying to teach you how to speak, spell, write and read in english so he can talk to you.

In return you teach him how to do the same and he said that it was like greek.

"your language is similar to the Greek language y'know darlin' don't ya?"

Felix said as you looked up at him through your thick h/c eyelashes as your doe eyes laid on his figure as Felix stood up.

"G-greek? How s-so?"

You asked as you stared at him confusion written all of your face your doe eyes filled to the brim with curiosity.

"what did you say your name was in your language? Darlin'?"

"Ναί/οὐκ, why?"

You said confusion as he clicked his tongue and wanted his index finger directly at your nose.

"That is my darlin' is Greek!"

Felix had said so much confidence that it was too much for you to handle all you did was let out a small squeak.

"I-I had no idea! T-thanks mister Felix!"

You said as hugged Felix's waste as he looks down at you and smiles softly although his eyes how something dark in them.

Hi guys! I started working on a new project called “A Court of Vast Waters”, I haven’t officially posted anything on AO3 yet (hopefully I’ll have a few chapters up by Monday🤞)

Anyways, the concept is if the characters in ACOTAR were pirates. I’m taking a lot of inspiration from stories such as Peter Pan, the Little Mermaid and Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s a multi-POV fic, with lots of themes and relationships to be explored.

With that being said, I wanted to share a snippet of my Gwynriel story I’ll be exploring in this fic. It’s an Ariel/Prince Eric retelling but with much larger things at play. If you’d like to read it, it’d be under the page break! 🧜🏻‍♀️🌊

Despite his unconsciousness, Azriel’s siphons blared brightly as he descended further into the deep water. Cobalt of the purest blue blasted through the dark trenches of the sea, like a beacon of light on night’s unrelenting waves. A truly magnificent sight bound to beckon any curious passersby to investigate fully.

Gwyn saw the wreckage first. She’d actually been on her way to another wrecked sight, a ship so old and long forgotten that now lay nestled between two large underwater rocks on the ocean floor. She passed near it days ago and saw an object reflecting light; somehow the sun had caught it, even as deep down as it was. She knew that whatever it was, it had to be absolutely remarkable. Gwyn couldn’t examine it further, out of fear of being late to her lessons with Merrill. The ancient, white-haired mermaiden would never let Gwyn out of her sight again if she was tardy. So, Gwyn begrudgingly placed the coordinates of the ship in the back of her mind for a later time, that mysterious shiny object etched into her brain like a sun-kissed freckle.

Now, debris of splintered wood floated near her in the water. It wasn’t uncommon to see pieces of a ship in the ocean—men and fae always underestimated the power of the vast waters—but it was a bit odd to see remnants of a wreck this far out into the sea. Usually, the waves would either swallow the ships whole or regurgitate pieces of it back on their shores, as if Tehome herself was reminding those who dared to venture out not to fuck with her territory.

However, the remnants of this ship were too far out to be an accident. The captain must have intentionally made the journey, which didn’t make sense to Gwyn as the land here had not been discovered by them yet. Had not been plagued and decimated by the land-walkers. Her and her sisters spent many of their days freely relaxing on the sandy shore of the beaches or the large rocks near the whirlpool, laying about sipping on coconut wine. For that land to be discovered, to be taken away from them, as so many others had been previously…

A shiver shot down Gwyn’s spine, and the end of her cyan tail twitched, the movement causing bubbles to float to the top, rippling the surface in their wake. She’d heard stories her whole life of their villages being pillaged by these land-walkers. It’s what caused them to push further and further into the ocean, in hopes of finding new places to live openly.

Of course, they had their underwater cities. Homes carved into the rock, caves became banquet halls and intricately placed shells decorated the exterior. A homely abode—well, as homely as it could be in the trenches of the sea. As much as the mer needed the water to survive, they also needed the sun. Whatever power the mer had, it was strengthened by the golden rays of the sun. And the light didn’t entirely reach their underwater villages, not fully, at least. That’s why these secret islands were so sacred to them. They could lay out boldly and soak in the sun without the looming threat of a land-walker.

A rogue plank floated up to Gwyn, and she eyed it. A small black scaly wing was carved into the wood, an emblem of sorts. She knew she should swim back and alert the elders, but her curiosity got the better of her. She didn’t see any survivors, and the wreckage was too far away from land for them to get anywhere if there were any. The merciless waves would not allow them to swim any great distance, especially not anyone with legs. Whoever was on this ship would not be alive now. Gwyn found herself thinking about that shiny object again and decided to hell with the wreckage. Tehome would take care of it.

Gwyn dived under the water, her auburn hair floating behind her like molten copper. Gwyn whipped her tail, causing hundreds of small colorful fish to scurry away, as if they knew not to get in her way when a treasure was on the line. Her pouch—made of woven kelp and seaweed—smacked against her hip as she swam, the strap of it pulled tightly across her chest to ensure her trinkets inside were safely in place.

Her mind was running wild at the treasures she might find in the crevices of that old ship when she saw it. A faint glowing blue light, shining up on her. Not down. She would have missed it, if her eyes were not trained to spot things of wonder. It wasn’t a sharp reflection or the golden rays, or even the silver light of the moon that Gwyn was used to. No, the blue of it was an illumination of something else entirely. Something new and different, a sight she’d never had the chance of beholding before.

Like a beckoning call, Gwyn swam to that cobalt blue luminescence.

Cookie Run Kingdom; I have thoughts on Black Pearl Cookie's History

I don't know if this is common knowledge, a widely accepted headcanon, a somewhat accepted theory or what but this won't leave my head and I wanted to share

Spoilers for part of Cookie Run Kingdom I guess? . . .

we're talking about the Lord Oyster betrays White Pearl incident . . .

Lord Oyster did sell White Pearl Cookie's gem to Abalone Cookie at Abalone Cookie's pressuring and thanks to the mounting stress/anxiety of trade relations failing for house Oyster as well as the house's financial debt that continued to grow at the time before the sale of the pearl reversed Lord Oyster's bad fortune and the bad fortune of his house at the cost of White Pearl Cookie's trust in him, her heart breaking, her sanity shattering, and the creation of the dangerous Duskgloom Sea where she now resides as Black Pearl Cookie

WHAT IF: Abalone Cookie orchestrated the situation and was sabotaging House Oyster's trade relations behind the scenes so that Lord Oyster was more inclined to sell the gem (an object Abalone Cookie wanted)

Abalone Cookie is proven to not only be quite charismatic but also fiercely determined to get what he wants and satiate his own greed and has great disregard for those around him. It seems that to Abalone Cookie others are merely a means to an end, and Lord Oyster's rising popularity (and subsequently Lord Oyster's fondness and respectful attitude towards the ocean and it's denizens) upon his return from the wreck at sea was a threat to Abalone Cookie's seat of power within the Crème Republic

So, knowing Lord Oyster had a rapport with White Pearl Cookie and possibly the Gem Mermaids by extension (a race Abalone Cookie has been obsessed with for possibly years) Abalone Cookie begins subtly sabotaging house Oyster's relations from the shadows so that Lord Oyster will be put in a situation where Abalone Cookie can swoop in and "rescue" things thus possibly causing Lord Oyster to feel he "owes" Abalone Cookie

[Within the Crème Republic in present day among those in seats of power Political Subterfuge feels like a national sport. I wouldn't be surprised if this kind of problem was present in Lord Oyster's time and shady dealings during this time served as a dark secret precedent for subterfuge in the present day of the Crème Republic]

when Abalone Cookie catches a glance of the Pearl WPC had given Lord Oyster and mentally identifies it as a Gem Mermaid's gemstone, Abalone Cookie becomes even more determined to pressure Lord Oyster subvertly and overtly, so that Lord Oyster sells the mermaid gem to Abalone under the pretense of saving House Oyster from debt… and eventually succeeds in a moment of Lord Oyster's weakness

With the gem in Abalone Cookie's grasp he no longer needs to pressure Lord Oyster and things start improving for the house almost immediately since Abalone Cookie is no longer interfering, but once Abalone Cookie sets out to sea with the gem in hand and armed to the teeth Lord Oyster has realized his mistake a moment too late…

Lord Oyster should have sought out White Pearl Cookie and told her what was going on with his House's growing debt, if he had talked to his beloved and explained things prior to the sale of the gem he wouldn't have had to choose between her and his family… and the rest we know is history: White Pearl Cookie corrupts into Black Pearl Cookie in a moment of great despair and rage then creates the Duskgloom Sea in a fit of wrath and sorrow (gleefully annihilating Abalone Cookie, his ships, and his crews in the process), and House Oyster will never have the chance ask forgiveness from the mermaiden… for she won't let anyone get that close ever again

In conclusion your honour: Abalone Cookie is a greedy bastard, I'm glad he's dead and I hope House Abalone has suffered ever since
