“What are you looking for?”
Zeke peers back over to the table where his ginger manager sits with a steaming cup of coffee.
“Uh,” the brunette hums, his eyes drifting back to the cabinets he’s actively rifling through, “something to eat, I guess. Pop Tarts, Goldfish... Ramen. Anything at this point.”
There’s a light silence as Lewis taps his long, freckled fingers on the side of his pale pink mug. Eventually he says, “I guess I mean it more… Metaphorically.”
Zeke meets his boss’ light green eyes with his own umber, “metaphorically…?”
“S - Sure,” Lewis stutters, “what are you looking for in your life? Or - why you moved to Heart Hollow…?”
The brunette raises a thick brow, giving his boss a snarky look, “give me an example then. What are you looking for, Lewis?”
“Oh,” the ginger hums gently, pale eyes down at his mug as he contemplates this. Eventually, his soft voice picks up again, “I’d like to find someone that gets me,” his voice drops even smaller, “someone just for me, I suppose.”
Silence rains down on the cramped breakroom. Zeke’s shoulders slump in response to his manager’s vulnerability. His own voice drops down in softness, “that’s a good thing to be looking for.”
Lewis looks back up at his assistant for a split second and then back down to his cup of coffee. He absentmindedly grazes a delicate finger along the rim of his mug, “so… what about you then?”
“Hmm,” Zeke hums to himself gently, his eyes meandering back to the nearly empty cabinet he searched through, “I guess - I don’t know. Maybe just something to call home,” the teenager shrugs gently.
“Something? Or - some place?”
“Something. I mean,” Zeke speaks meticulously, “home can be a lot of things. An actual physical place - a group of friends or family. Home can even be, like. A person.”
Lewis’ big green puppy dog eyes peer up at his assistant as he speaks. Meeting his boss’ eyes for a moment, Zeke instinctually darts his attention back towards the cabinet.
Zeke gives a shrug, his voice picking up to a louder than normal speaking level, “I dunno’ though. Moving here wasn’t that deep. What is deep, is this pit growing in my stomach. I’m literally starving.”
Lewis gives his assistant a light smile, before sipping at his coffee, “we could order lunch, if you’d like. I’ll buy.”
Zeke brown eyes light up, “yo - for real?” He immediately makes his way over to the breakroom table where his boss sits, “Lewis, my man. You’re the best.”
The ginger shrugs a bit cute-like, “I try.”
“What are you looking for?”

what's your meal plan like in residential?
I'm going to try to answer this in a non triggering way but content warning for dicussion of meal plans from a recovery based perspective :)
So the way that my treatment center works is that everyone's meal plan is individualized, but based on an "exchange system." This means that every food is catergorized into what food group it fits into and we have specific amounts of each food group we need. So for example, a breakfast might need 1 milk, 2 grains, 1 protein, 1 fruit, and 2 fats. Lunch might be 2 grains, 3 proteins, 1 vegetable, and 3 fats. It really all depends on what any individual person needs, and we have menus that we fill out every week that lists out our food options for the week and labels how many proteins, grains, and fats that each thing counts for. We usually have like three main entrees to choose from and sides and add-ons and write ins and things like that. So you just pick and choose what you want as long as it meets the exchanges you need. We also have three snacks a day from a snack list. Depending on your indivudal needs, you will either get an A, B, or C snack. A snacks are things like goldfish, chocolate bars, pop tarts, chocolate ice cream. B snacks are similiar, and C snacks are things like milkshakes, dessert sandwiches, other stuff.
My menus are even more indivudalized then most peoples because I have ARFID accomdated menus. So for my breakfasts, I have a muffin, bacon, fruit, and chocolate milk. For my lunches every day, I choose between cheese quesadillas, cheese ravioli, chicken with rice. For dinner, I choose between mac and cheese and pizza. Most other patients choose between a ton more options that rotate on a weekly basis. Diabetic patients have different menus but I don't know as much about what that looks like.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Okay but vamp!harry x reader where the reader goes for a late night walk alone because she’s feeling anxious (Harry tries to insist on coming with but she says no) but soon he can sense somethings wrong and goes to look for her and finds her in a dangerous situation! I need protective vampire Harry 🥺
Disclaimer: Reader with ADHD, Vampire!H x fem!reader, cock warming.
Harry's been doing humanly things. Moreso trying for his little human whom he doesn't want to dissapoint when she's making ećlairs or pop tarts for him and all he knows is to eat them despite of being a helping hand. His fingers are magical —--- they relax her in the most livid way while he's feeding from her. Honestly, it's all she wants. Her making sweets for him and him pleasuring her in the most bizarre way.
But. Sometimes she get's emotionally exhausted that the physical activities looks like breaking a mountain for her and all she does is snuggle under the snoozy layers of her childhood blankets cuddling her cat to calm her down.
Now her tranquility is Harry.
It's one of those days. She's been feeling like a failure. An utter dimwit for not getting what's happening in her sociology class, why her neighbours are always grumpy with her and why she isn't able to study anything. It's depressing her.
Harry never left her side. She's like a honey gooed all over him not even letting him bring the pizzas he ordered for them, "Don't!" She squeaks in a weak voice catching his wrists and he sits back cupping the nape of her neck looking straight in her eyes to assure her with his whole existence, "'ey baby . . my sweet girl 'm not goin' anywhere. Delivery boy's been waiting outside -- just a mo', yeah?" He sponges a gentle kiss at her temple stroking her cheek to calm her down.
They've rented a VR receiver and alot of silver movies watching them while eating pizza. She giggles and Harry smiles goofily when he had to hit the receiver twice to make it work, "c'mon you should know how all of this work old man." He strides towards her pulling her up with armpits into his embrace and tickling hard.
"Old man huh!? Ol' ma —" He pretends to eat her whole and she squeals between her laughs, "'m sorry you're my man!" Huffs smugly giving her a breather and pecks her not twice but thrice. If he could kiss her all day. He would. She's his human. It surprises him sometimes when he's alone with his thoughts. He loves her to fucking bits and pieces.
When she's like this everyone and everything feels outta her reach. As if they're miles away from her and she's standing in barren cold. In the amidst of sappy movie she shrinks closer to him stuffing her face into his ribs wounding her leg around his abdomen and he makes her feel warm wrapping his arms around her to push her up on his thigh. Snapping his gaze down at her when the lil sniffs of her reached his ears, "What's wrong kitten . . . hurts to see ya like this baby. Love you so much." He never fails to promise that he loves her to core.
"'M jus . . . thinking tha –-- that when I'll die you'll be still here 'n . . . 'n y'would get so lonely." She hiccups without a break, "Dunno. Can't stop crying 'm sorry." She gives out an ugly sob into his chest. It's breaking his already feeble heart. God he could scream the affection to the moon he have for this girl. In such a tragic moment all she is thinking is about him.
He cups squishes both her cheeks with his calloused palms telling her to breath with slow gestures then when she's way better speaks in his softest voice, "My baby listen to me hmm? We're never thinking of future don't wan'ye to wreck ye'r beautiful brain for stupid deaths --- secondly too bad miss Y/N 'm gonna cling to ye like leech of your nightmares." He wipes her tears away ever so caringly and gives her eskimo kisses while she giggles snorting at the end when Harry brought his big goldfish orbs in the middle to make her laugh.
"'M glad to have you." She whispers smudging her wet lips softly against his's into a heart melting blood warming kiss and Harry shushes her when she whines clutching the hem of his sweater, "bite me? She asks politely rather than being batty as for she was being within past days rilling him upto extreme to get her neck and skin sprinkled with hickeys that turns into bites.
"Don't wanna hurt ye', lovie." He pushes her hair away peering down at her with pleading worried eyes, "you wouldn't. promise." He nods flushing her against his chest positioning her head into the crook of his neck. Making her hug him like a koala bear.
Rubs her back. Pats her hair. Sways her along him rather than the seductive warnings he used to give her. He's afraid. She's too fragile at the moment. He'd never forgive himself if something will happen to her, "'m gonna bite. Stop me if ye' don't want it o' hurts." He runs his palms at her sides making her all squirmy.
He pushes her fangs ever so gently to her sweet spot. If she's made of glass making her moan and tight her grip around him warming up his cock in his trousers. It's not always about you dumber. He scolds himself. Suckling lightly and pulling back in a pinch of moment. It's the first time he has almost pretended to drink from her. She's all sleepy in his hold. He carries her to bed and when tries to untangle himself so he could turn the telly off she whines not letting him.
Despite of these much blankets she's still feeling cold. From inside. It feels empty and she isn't liking it at all. Writhes and squirms causing Harry to ask, "ye okay there lovie'?" When she shakes her head with glassy eyes and a pout he understands.
"Cold." Is all she had to say and he's guessing the next, "in ye'r tummy?" When she bobs her head confirming he sighs softly pulling the elastic of his trousers down to free his dick getting rid of the item woving his calves with her, thighs between thighs and places a firm hand on her back moving his thumb into circles non-stop.
"Oh me lil dovlin' c'mere . . want me cock to warm ye up baby? 'S okay s' okay darlin'." He murmurs against her lips tugging at his foreskin hissing when the head of his thick cock gets pushed between their bellys due to approximty. Precome oozes from his strokes and he takes her panties off swiping his crown over her hole to lubricate her. Wounds his arm around the nape of her neck to lap at her mouth swallowing her whines and cries while sliding inside her compact walls twisting his stomach awfully, "shhh. shhh baby love. I got ya. Gonna take care of ye ---- try to sleep. I'll be waiting fo' ye in the morning." Once, situating himself deep and snug inside her. He keeps on embracing her like a little baby.
Next morning though she woke up happy. Harry made her brekkie. Special smiley pancakes with heart shaped eyes from the little strawberry toppings. He really took advantage of his time while she was snoring her ass off. A peach smoothie and cashewnuts. Fed Meowsie. Gave her his morning lovin'. They had the meal together.
He helped her learn some of her course. Then in afternoon made lunch together egg fried rice and stirred vegetables Y/N went to give some of it to their neighbours. Lady Nat asked her if she's okay cause she has stopped stomping in her flat and it made her feel good, weirdly.
//
Maybe it's seasonal sadness that she couldn't get out of it. Harry's in the kitchen cleaning up shelves when he hears the rustle of carpet. He peeks from the wall to find her pooling into a big hoodie and slipping into her shoes. He frowns throwing the rag away to walk towards her immediately, "where ye' goin' lovie? Ye' okay what happened?" He runs his hands over her shoulders to her hair making her meet his eyes.
She nods squeezing his wrists, "don't worry just wanna . . . take a walk — clear my head." Hearing this he quickly moves to wear his jacket.
"'M goin' with you." He declares and she knows if that'll happen she wouldn't be able to, "No. Alone." She fumbles with the strings of her hoodie. He sighs not fond of the idea brows knighting together thumbing at her jaw with concern screaming in his eyes.
"Can I mark you then?" He asks knowing what hides in the shadows of outside; creatures evil than his entire existence. He doesn't want to make her feel like she owes him explanations for her each and every movement but gosh does it scare him to his bones. She's the only person who could make him weak into knees and a mesh of puddle at the thought of even the thorn pricking her, "okie." She cranes her neck and it still amuses him she's exactly how she was when he first met her. That gentle rose under the moon meant for Harry to care and water with love.
After adorning her with a crimson mark and little peck he tugs her closer hooking his nose to her hair taking a good sniff of her cocoa scent, "keep your phone in ye' hand and don't walk through the cherry street." There's nothing there but stray dogs that she's afraid of. It's better he advises her.
"Ai. Ai captain!" She salutes him stomping her feet and he chuckles kissing her cheek wet-ly, "Go before I change me mind."
//
He wanted it not to creep it to his mind but it's not helping AT ALL. He's been restless and it's been fifteen minutes since she has left. He's sitting sunk into sofa with Meowsie snuggled under his chin while he shakes his knees, cracks his knuckles, combs his hair and groans into his palms. In short throwing tantrum like a toddler missing her already and constantly worrying about her. Something doesn't feel right at all. That gut wrenching horror of losing her biting him alive.
He mutters a fuck it going to look for her and bring her back home. He was right. He has always been. Good at instincts. For fuck's sake. He's a vampire!
Y/N was walking along the path which's the lead way to a park when a dark vibe gloomed over her head. The next she knows is she's being pinned to a wall with demonic eyes snatching at her soul: it takes her breath away outta horror.
"No wonder why Harry kisses the earth you walk on." He chuckles darkly accent an old Scottish and she gulps eyes stinging with tears, "I would to . . if I get to drink such sweet ripe blood." Her eyes widens when his fangs pokes out from his gums glistening under the lamp light.
She tries to kick him in balls to get rid of his painful grip when an angry growl echoes towards them loudly and the person who had her trapped wooshes from her sight in a bolt to ground making her shriek.
"She's not a fuckin' feeder stay the fuck away from her!!" Harry grits spitting venom. Choking the person under him, "tol' ya she's my girl and I'll shred everyone alive if they'll even breath in her direction." She has never seen him this furious. Tone harsh and snappy she never heard coming from him it makes her cry.
He had warned his fellows when the news of him spread that he has bonded to human. But well they've thick skulls.
The man under him just smirks pushing him away and coughing into his elbow standing up. "Whatever thought sharing is caring, Styles." Harry glares him resentfully. Fisting a punch at his side but stables himself when a dainty hand wraps around his fingers clutching tight.
He turns ducking down to her level cupping her cheeks and tries to examine her for any kind of injury, "ye' okay? Did he hurt you? Tell me and — " she rubs her nose with the sleeve of her hoodie shaking her head vigorously.
"No. 'M fine sorry should've listened to you." He puffs out a breath of guilt letting his forehead fall against her's, "don't be sorry -- it's none of ye'r fault baby."
"Glad you're safe." He whispers hugging her with the sway of bodies, "I love you." She tells him honestly tip-toeing to kiss him and it unfortunately reaches his silky jaw only.
"And all the things you do for me." He grins down at her. He lives on praises. The cheeky bastard.
"How about eatin' ice-cream while taking swings in the park?" He intertwines their hands warmly kissing her knuckles and she quips excitedly, "sounds great!"

survey by katesmarie13
(Merry Christmas! Or Happy Holidays! Or Happy Friday! <3)
Okay, just a few basics first...THEN the new stuff.
Your full name? I only feel like sharing the name Robyn today.
Your hometown? Manila, kinda. I won’t give away the city I currently reside in.
Age? 22, and a waste of a year it was. I’m so tempted to just turn 22 again in 2021.
Now for something different and completely random...
When you're having a bad day, what comfort food do you reach for? It differs per bad day and it also depends if I can afford to get whatever it is I’m craving. Though for the most part, I’ve found myself pining for samgyupsal the most often. It’s just the ultimate problem-fixer and makes-the-sad-go-away-er.
Do you have an item that is your good luck charm? I don’t really believe in those, so no. The farthest I’ve gone with a certain item and luck is how I insisted to use the same paddle that was available in our gym whenever I trained for table tennis back in high school. The reason I don’t think it has anything to do with luck is because I simply thought I had the best grip with that paddle, not because I was convinced I can win any game with it.
If so, what is it? See paddle situation aboe.
Your favorite thing about your job (or school)? It’s in the media/public relations field so there are lots of freebies and treats that come with the job that make what I do worth it, and a lot more fun. The entire team also consists of Gen Z-ers and younger Millennials, so there are practices we follow that bigger corporations might not have, like longer office shutdowns during Christmas (we don’t get back to work until Jan 4th), reminders to take mental health breaks, and a no-video-meetings rule every Friday afternoon.
Least favorite thing about your job (or school)? It’s very, very hectic so I have the tendency to get overwhelmed as early as 10 AM. There’s never any dead air and I don’t get rest for nine hours straight (my shift is technically eight hours, but I work through the allotted 1-hour lunch break as well). OT is also common, but at least I get paid for it. Demanding clients who micromanage and/or ask for too much work to be done from our end also make the job stressful.
Does global warming and the hole in the ozone truly bother you? Of course. My heart sinks every time I come across a new article saying glaciers are melting, that animals living in polar regions are suffering, that sea ice continues to drastically decrease, etc.
Do you have a "funny" toenail? I don’t think so? All my toenails look...the way they’re supposed to look like, lol.
How many times have you moved in your lifetime? The times I can remember, just twice. But my parents moved around a bit when I was still an infant.
Do you watch professional wrestling and is it real? I do watch and keep up with it, just not as much as I used to. I don’t recognize most of the new faces anymore, and I wouldn’t be able to give you a decent breakdown of the current storylines in any promotion, not even in WWE. The angles, results, belts, and characters all aren’t real, but the movesets (especially the submission holds) risks, and injuries very much are. Are we going to debate this in 2020 still? Lmao.
What's your favorite thing to microwave? Don’t microwaves just heat stuff up? I dunno if it heats a certain food better than others lol.
Could Pop-Tarts survive a nuclear attack? I doubt it.
Does anyone know where the UP (Upper Peninsula) is? Can I give you a different UP? That’s where I went to in college, heh heh.
What's the regular unleaded gas price where you are? I have no idea. I never paid attention. I usually just give the gas attendant anywhere between P300 to P700 and see how far up it would fill my tank.
Do you know someone who's been injured in Iraq? I don’t know. Probably not. None of my relatives who migrated ever signed up for the US military.
Do you remember what a Puff-A-Lump is? I’m pretty positive I’ve never heard of it before.
Least favorite TV show? Game of Thrones.
Favorite canned soup? I don’t consume that.
How far does your belly button stick out or sink in? How can I even measure this?
Do you have a particular coffee mug you drink from? Yes, but I’ve described it so many times in surveys from just this month alone.
What does that mug say/have on it? The first line reads “Seattle, WA” then “Starbucks” in big bold letters, then “Coffee Company” below it, and the last line reads. “Est. 1971.”
Your take on declawing cats? I don’t like cats a lot but this does not sound like a responsible thing to do, and it also sounds like a painful procedure for a poor cat.
Do have smoke detectors in your home? No. That’s not really a requirement or standard practice here.
Would it be easy to erase YOUR identity? I suppose it’s technically easy to hire someone who can do that (a la Breaking Bad), I just would not be willing to do it and give up who I am for anything in the world.
Do you know anyone named Sam? Lots. My cousin is named Sam; I also went to school with multiple Sams.
How many drawers do you have in your room/office? Five.
What was your favorite snuggle toy when you were a child? I was happy with a pillow. I was never into stuffed toys all that much.
Great! A few firsts then...
What was your first pet and their name? I had a goldfish that I simply named Goldy. I vividly remember this because Angela’s first pet was also a goldfish; and there was a time we did show-and-tell in first grade and she bought her pet. We had been bickering that day, as 7 year olds do, and I remember being an absolute asshole and snickering when she introduced her fish as Fishy because I thought it was a cheesy name and that Goldy was far superior. Sorry Fishy. You had a great name.
When your mind wanders, where does it go first? My biggest stressor for the day, usually.
Your first knick-knack (item you placed in your room/house)? I have no clue. I was 10 when we first moved in here, and a completely different person.
First "real" piece of jewlery? (This goes for the guys too) I’m going to forgive this survey for being a little sexist because it’s nearly 15 years old; but anyway, I’ve never had any expensive jewelry of my own. All the pricey ones I’ve ever worn are owned by mom.
What did you do on your first date? We went to a museum and had early dinner at an Italian-American restaurant. We also had coffee after, and then she slept over at my place where I let her play GTA V on our PS3 because she wasn’t allowed to play it in her house.
Who was your first best friend? Kaye. I can’t trace her down now because she has such a common name, but I hope she’s been doing well.
When did you first realize that life isn't easy and fun? I was 12, going through puberty and a generally not-nice time of my life, with everyone in the house hating and isolating me.
And lastly...
The last thing you thought about before you fell asleep last night? I briefly thought about how many hours I need to sleep to get a decent rest, but I passed out in like 10 seconds.
Your last argument? Last night my mom and I had an argument about where I last placed my phone because I had already misplaced it two times prior during the day.
Your last words to someone...? “You’re wearing black; it’s not too obvious” when my mom was complaining that she looked a bit big in her outfit for today.
The last place you'd go? I’m not very sure about the wording here. Do you mean the last place I went to (outside the house to pay for a delivery)? Or the last place I’d want to go to before I die (no clue)? Hahahaha.
The last thing you'd find yourself wearing? Again, not so sure about the grammar here.
What will be the last thing that you do today? Trying to doze off.

7, 14, 27, 33!!!
hi ashley!!
7. do you have any pets?
i have a dog named daisy (not after daisy johnson but i say so anyway) and i’ve been asking for a goldfish so i can name her gail (if you’ve seen the west wing you’ll understand) but my mom says no :(
here is daisy in january when i was about to leave for school. she did not want me to leave for school.
14. are you psychic in any way?
sometimes people will ask me if i have ‘triplet telepathy’ and i do not but i say yes because it is the absolute dumbest thing anyone has ever asked me and i like to see them look terrified before i tell them i’m kidding... or am i...
27. would you like to be a big celebrity?
uhhh does president of the united states count? if so, yeah.
33. what do you typically have for breakfast?
that depends on if i actually eat breakfast, which i usually don’t. i had a blueberry muffin today because i made them last night but i feel kind of sick to my stomach so maybe no lunch. i think if we have something special for breakfast, like donuts or cinnamon rolls or blueberry muffins or pop tarts that we don’t get very often, i’ll eat it. otherwise, i just use that time to sleep or check election results.
thank you for the ask, @maos2013 <3

Self Care Tips!
So there’s a trend of like. So many of the new writers I’m following (and the writers I already follow) are mentioning that they have anxiety/depression/are in some other way neurodivergent. So! Here is a thing that I’m compiling as an ADHD/Anxiety-having/Depression-having/PTSD-having college student, of things that have worked for ME.
*Of course you are not me! These things may not work for you, but hopefully they give you ideas or help a little. <3*
Also these ideas are absolutely NOT a substitute for seeing a therapist. If you are able that should be a first line of defense! Many colleges have free or low cost mental health services, high schools have counselors that can often direct you to mental health services, and if neither of those apply I am happy to attempt to direct you to resources and do some research for you!
A 24/7 crisis text line can be found here: https://www.crisistextline.org/ if you are too anxious to call someone.
Let’s start out with a few affirmations!
You are amazing.
Yes. YOU.
Even if you are not doing what you think your best is right now, you are doing amazingly!
You have accomplished something today. I don’t care even if it’s just getting out of bed or waking up. That stuff is HARD. Every time you get out of bed and face your mental illness, you are accomplishing something. And that is pretty amazing!
This is not eternal. Things will get better. Yes, they might suck right now, but things are not going to be this bad forever!
You are not a burden. Text a friend, a loved one, or me if you feel lost! I can definitely do my best to help.
You are loved! It might not feel that way but someone on this earth cares about you. I promise.
Strategies for when you know things are gonna get rough
(this can include life things, like exam season, visiting unsupportive family, the anniversary of a death, etc. It can also include things like hormones! I am an AFAB person who gets periods, so there are certain weeks that I know my mental health is gonna be very hecked up.)
First we’re gonna figure out ways to attend to your basic heckin needs.
WATER. Keep some sort of fluid by your bed (water, juice, an electrolyte thing like powerade. Something low in sugar is good but literally anything works. If it hydrates you it’s fine)
FOOD.
If you have the energy to prep some meals, do that thing! (Trust me, grabbing a Tupperware out of the fridge is so much easier and less overwhelming than making a Meal)
Some of my personal versatile college-kid favorites are overnight oats, fried rice, quesadillas, pasta of any kind, etc.
I am vegetarian and am able to make all of the above vegan as well, so ask if you’re curious!
If you have the energy to go to the store, pick up some things that require very little preparation that you can munch on.
Ten’s favorites include Goldfish, fruit snacks, granola bars, cheese sticks, rolls, etc
If neither of these apply, take some time to identify a few things you can eat in a pinch!
Don’t worry about “Cohesive Meals”. If you can grab some deli meat/cheese/carrots/crackers/anything of the sort, then that’s food.
SELF
Make a list of five things that make you happy/relaxed/feel Marginally Less Bad, and find ways to make a few of those happen.
Ex. Reach out to a friend and say you’re having a hard time, gather supplies for a craft you like, gather some writing ideas, make a happy playlist, etc!
Make a time during the bad times that you are going to attend to One Activity That Is Relaxing.
For me, Sundays at 7ish is nail art time. I take that time to do my nails, which is a comfort activity for me. I don’t schedule things then, because that is My Time. My Time is a priority then. But it doesn’t even have to take a couple hours, just like “for 30 minutes here I will sketch” or something like that will work!
OTHER
Set reminders to do things like take meds/drink water/take a walk/etc!
Build as much of a support system as you can beforehand basically! Set yourself up for success in as many little ways as you can.
OK, It Is The Bad Time.
OK, time for some more affirmations.
This is a bad TIME, not bad forever. Even if this hit you suddenly it WILL get better!
You can do this!
You are not alone! You are not a burden! Reach out if you can!
You’ve got this!
Now we’re gonna go back to the other things we talked about before!
BASIC THINGS: Things are rough! You are not going to be able to do everything you are doing at your best. If you broke your leg you wouldn’t be trying to walk to work/school/around the house the same way you normally would. You’d accommodate. Do the same thing with your mental health.
Make a list of small things that you feel like you might be able to do. If things are feeling too overwhelming, think even smaller!
Suggestions: Shower, brush teeth, take a short walk, get out of bed and walk around the room, put one dish in the sink, get a drink of water, stretch (even just in bed), text a friend, change into another pair of pajamas
Celebrate when you do these things! Maybe even write down each one you accomplish.
If you are in school, reach out to professors if you can. Many of them will understand and be VERY accommodating.
Reach out to a friend if you can! Good friends will be willing to help, even in little ways!
Something is always better than nothing. This is gonna be a theme but doing one thing, ANY thing, is an accomplishment!
WATER: Keep a glass of water/water bottle by your bed, or any other liquid. Don’t beat yourself up if you can only drink a little. Something is better than nothing. Every sip is one sip more than you probably wanted to take. Every sip is one more sip of hydration.
FOOD: This is one of the hardest ones for me because I have disordered eating habits. For me it’s an accomplishment if I don’t eat, so this is always the first thing that I neglect. So!
Again, think of easy things!
ANYTHING you eat is better than nothing. I don’t care if your breakfast was a handful of Goldfish. I don’t care if you skipped lunch and had a Pop Tart for dinner. You Ate Something and that is more than your mental health wanted you to. ANYTHING you eat is better than eating nothing. Your body will thank you, I promise.
Try to eat at least something at designated meal times. Again, literally anything. Sometimes you’ll find that food doesn’t feel good and that’s okay! But sometimes you’ll find that food is helping you feel better, and that can make a WORLD of difference.
SELF: This one can be tricky. Depression and anxiety can make doing things you love really, really hard and that sucks a LOT! So here’s a few little strategies that hopefully will help!
Think of nostalgic, comforting things. I have comfort songs, Youtube channels, etc that I go back to when I’m not feeling well. Keep that on lock!
Don’t force yourself to do something you don’t want to! If your happy thing isn’t appealing, don’t force it!
Try a couple different things! For me, when I was in my roughest patch of the year, I didn’t want to knit, write, read, do any of my comfort things. It was awful. But for some weird reason, drawing helped break through the depression a little. I am not an artist and usually stress a LOT when drawing, but for some strange reason, it was what I needed. Happiness lives in weird places.
A few closing things!
When you find something that works, NOTE IT. It can be a part of your toolbox for bad mental health times.
Seriously, there’s a lot of places where initial therapy consultations are low cost or free. Those can be a WORLD of help.
Reach out! I know I keep repeating it but it can make a world of difference!
You can get through this!
I know you can!
You’re braver than you think you are, you’re stronger than you can ever know! You might not feel like it, but you can do this!
Reach out to me if you need anything. I can hopefully direct you somewhere to help you. <3

Fridays are not always my best lunch packing days…! M orders pizza at school so it is just H. And last week, he ended up with a random mix…he ate the leftover pop tart, bread, goldfish, pretzels, and some of the cucumber. Barely touched his mango or raspberries and was upset I dared to give him a cheese stick, which he officially dislikes now? . Hardest thing for me is seeing all the yummy fruit go to waste lately… he changes his mind daily about what fruits he will/will not eat so I hate to stop packing fruit at all…but I also hate throwing so much away bc it usually is yucky/mushy by the time it gets home. https://www.instagram.com/p/CbFbxH5usm-/?utm_medium=tumblr

10 PROCESSED FOODS TO NEVER FEED YOUR KIDS
It may be easy to reach for one of these foods when your child is hungry, but have you ever really thought about what’s inside those processed foods targeted at kids? Flip those colorful cartooned packages over and you’ll find almost as many artificial colors lurking in the ingredients. That list of ingredients is a long and confusing jumble of chemicals and carcinogens, like what you’ll find in these 10 cancer causing foods. Let’s take a closer look at what effects these processed foods are having on your child’s health, along with alternative choices you can make to safeguard their future.
Disclosure: Bookieboo LLC has an affiliate relationship with Thrive Market and works with a large number of brands in the organic and natural foods sector, including Stonyfield, Organic Valley, Nature’s Path, and Applegate.
1. Pepperidge Farm’s Goldfish
These fishies are a pantry staple in many homes with kids. I admit, I grew up on them myself. They appear healthy, with a label that totes whole grain, real cheddar, and no artificial preservatives. However, a look at the ingredient list shows just why these unnaturally orange snack crackers should stay off of your child’s plate.
Enriched wheat flour might sound good, but it means so many natural nutrients were stripped away in the processed flour, that things have to be added back in. The iron added is a metallic form that our bodies just can’t absorb fully. As for the folic acid, research now shows that the fortification of foods with folic acid is linked to cancer.
Moving on to the cheddar cheese – it’s not organic. That means the cows were fed a diet of genetically modified grains and then produced milk for the cheese. We’ve already discussed the dangers of GMOs and the importance of organic dairy. Conventional dairy may also contain rbST, another Monsanto product. The cows are injected with this genetically engineered hormone to stimulate milk production. It’s already banned in Canada, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. The use of rbST, in turn, causes other health problems, such as mastitis, that need further treatment with antibiotics. This increases antibiotic resistance, a dangerous problem which is then passed on to humans. These are all reasons enough to flush these fish, and this is only the third ingredient. That cheese also contains annatto as a coloring agent. Although it’s from a natural source, the seeds of the achiote bush, annatto has been linked to irritable bowel syndrome.
Finally, the vegetable oils. Unlike olive or coconut oils that are extracted from pressing, vegetable oils are made in a very unnatural way. The oils are heated to unsafe temperatures, oxidized and then treated with petroleum solvents. Then the oil is treated with chemicals to make its color and odor more pleasant. On top of that, they are also made from GMO crops like corn and soy.
Better Alternative – Annie’s Organic Cheddar Bunnies
These certified organic and Non-GMO project verified snacks are an easy swap out to the familiar fish. Annie’s Organic Cheddar Bunnies do contain organic annatto extract. Annatto is actually found in most crackers, but you won’t find any of the other ingredients of concern mentioned above.
Best Alternative – Mary’s Gone Crackers
One of my favorite crackers, these are free of all the ingredients of concern listed above. They too are certified organic and Non-GMO project verified. Mary’s Gone Crackers are made from organic brown rice, quinoa, and seeds, so they are also gluten free.
2. Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts
“Baked with real fruit” catches your eye on the front of the package, but turn it over and you’ll see a different story. The filling is about 10% fruit. So what’s in the other 90%? More enriched flour, soybean and palm oil, GMO after GMO, artificial colors, and so much sugar!
These processed pastries have dextrose, sugar, and both corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup. All made with GMOs, like the Goldfish above. If you see “sugar” on the label, it comes from genetically modified sugar beets, not cane sugar like you may think. Refined sugars spike insulin levels and feed cancer cells.
Even that “real fruit” is still a cause for concern. The dried apples, strawberries, and pear are sprayed with pesticides. In fact, apples are the most contaminated item on the EWG’s dirty dozen list.
A common ingredient in processed foods marketed towards kids and teens is artificial dyes and colors. These vibrant and fun looking colors are actually toxic chemicals that cause allergies and hyperactivity in children. This particular flavor of pop-tart contains Red 40, Yellow 6, and Blue 1. Yellow 6 might sound familiar, as it’s the dye that many petitioned to remove from Kraft Mac ‘n Cheese. The toxins in these dyes, all common in processed foods, are known to cause cancer, hyperactivity in children, asthma, skin rashes, migraines and even affect your child’s learning ability. Most are already banned in other countries too. Caramel color, which has shown to cause lung cancer in mice with long term exposure, also made it into this breakfast food.
Although this label doesn’t list monosodium glutamate, also know as MSG, it does list gelatin. This is used in the icing of the product and commonly contains MSG. MSG is linked to obesity, intestinal issues, migraines, skin rashes and brain damage.
Better Alternative – Nature’s Path Frosted Maple Brown Sugar Toaster Pastries
These breakfast pastries won’t contain any GMOs or persistent pesticides. Nature’s Path Frosted Maple Toaster Pastries are certified organic and Non-GMO project verified as well. They are also trans fat free. Although you will find caramel color, it’s organic class I. It’s the only caramel color that can be certified organic, and is minimally processed with limited additional ingredients.
Best Alternative – Homemade
This may not be as quick of an option, but it’s the best option if you want to avoid artificial colors. These Whole-Wheat Toaster Pastries pictured are from 100 Days of Real Food. Be sure to use only organic ingredients. You can make them ahead in a large batch and freeze for convenience. If that’s still more work than you want, opt for some organic toast and jam.
3. Nestle Nesquik Chocolate Milk
Seemingly a healthier choice than soda and energy drinks, this is a deceptive beverage. It’s even a staple in school lunches. Aside from the aforementioned dangers of conventional dairy, this Nesquik is loaded with sugar. One bottle (listed as two servings) has a whopping 48 grams! Even if a child were to only consume half the bottle, that’s still double the recommended daily amount of 12 grams (3 teaspoons) of sugar. Research shows excess sugar consumption leads to heart disease, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, obesity, liver problems, and reduced brain power.
Natural and artificial flavors are towards the end of the ingredient list in this Nestle Nesquik Chocolate Milk. Don’t be fooled by the term “natural”, because it has little bearing on whether something is healthy. As for artificial flavors, they can contain hundreds of chemicals with side effects ranging from allergies to behavioral issues in children.
Carrageenan is a thickening agent used in many types and brands of milk, and is especially common in processed foods. It has recently become controversial because studies on animals have shown gastrointestinal inflammation, intestinal lesions, ulcers, and malignant tumors. If you see carrageenan on the label, it’s also a possibility that it contains MSG.
Better Alternative – Organic Valley Chocolate Milk
Not only is this milk certified organic, it’s also fair trade. In the refrigerated version you’ll find no carrageenan or artificial colors and flavors. It is still a chocolate milk, so there is a high amount of sugar in this beverage. It’s easier to limit serving size with Organic Valley Chocolate Milk because it isn’t in a single serving size container. You can also cut it with plain milk.
Best Alternative – Homemade Organic Strawberry Milk
Of course, plain organic milk is the best alternative, but if your child still wants a sweeter, more flavorful option, try this. Simply blend up a few organic strawberries into the milk for a sweet and subtle flavor addition.
4. Soda
Just like the Nesquik chocolate milk above, soda is loaded with sugar, like most processed foods. However, most kids will probably only have one Nesquik – they’ll probably have multiple sodas. Luckily, many schools and fast food chains have eliminated soda from the children’s menu. It’s one of the cancer causing foods that should be eliminated from your diet.
The coloring of soda is toxic as well. Caramel color, like in the strawberry pop-tart, is a carcinogen. Choosing an orange soda instead of a brown cola isn’t any better. You’ll see this Fanta has both Yellow 6 and Red 40 on it’s ingredient list. The vague “natural flavors” aren’t reassuring either. It’s more of the same offenders as the processed foods we’ve already revealed.
Better Alternative – Live Kombucha Soda
These sodas come in a variety of familiar flavors, but they are made with raw, organic kombucha. Not only do you avoid the nasty colors, flavors, and carcinogens in soda, this option aids in digestion. Kombucha is made from fermented tea, so it’s not recommended for children under 4, although Live Kombucha Soda say that their fermentation process does not allow the kombucha to become alcoholic.
Best Alternative – Skip the Soda
It may seem obvious, but stick with water or milk for the healthiest options. You can add fruit to water to infuse it with flavor if your child wants something different.
5. Fast Food Kids Meals
The majority of kid’s meals are made up of a hamburger and fries, which we have already identified as cancer causing foods. Burger King still offers soda with their kids meal, even though other chains have eliminated it. Have you seen the ingredient list in these meals? A cheeseburger contains 70 ingredients! That Happy Meal being marketed to your child is not something you should be happy about. To go line by line with every ingredient in a Happy Meal would take a long time, but you can review all of their ingredients on their website. What I found in my research was non-organic meat, dairy, fruits, and vegetables. All of these items contain harmful GMOs and pesticides. In a typical Happy Meal you will find 540 calories, 18 grams of fat, 0.5 gram of trans fat, 790 mg of sodium, and 32 grams of sugar.
What about skipping the burger and fries and choosing chicken? Well, Chick-fil-A’s chicken contains MSG in their seasoning and breading. It’s also filled with GMOs, pesticides, and enriched flour, like nearly all of the foods on our list so far. McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets also contain the same things, although they don’t just come right out and say MSG. The natural flavors and seasoning are common ingredients where hidden MSG lies.
Better Alternative – Chipotle
This fast food chain’s motto is “food with integrity” and they are working to stand by this. Although their full menu is not organic or GMO free yet, they do have a detailed ingredient list which labels what items on their menu are organic or contain GMOs.
Best Alternative – Skip the Fast Food
It may seem obvious, but because over 80% of the commercial feed for animals is GMO, it’s difficult to eat out and avoid GMOs. Fast food is usually higher in fat, calories, and sodium than food prepared in our homes. You have complete control over what foods go into your home cooking, unlike what is prepared at a fast food chain.
6. Yoplait Go-Gurt
These yogurt tubes may seem like a healthier snack option when it comes to processed foods. A look at the ingredients shows the typical culprit of conventional dairy. Animal products are the number one products you should be buying organic. Along with the genetically modified dairy, you’ll find modified corn starch, which is also GMO. Go-Gurt also contains 2/3 of the daily recommended amount of sugar for children in just one tube. The thickener carrageenan, shown to cause intestinal problems in animals, is also used.
An ingredient common in processed foods which we haven’t yet discussed is potassium sorbate. This preservative can cause allergic reactions, nausea, diarrhea, and even DNA damage. The convenience of a squeezable yogurt isn’t really worth all of those risks.
Better Alternative – Stonyfield YoKids Pouches
These yogurt squeeze pouches are an organic alternative to the above version. Since the dairy cows are fed an all organic diet, you don’t have to worry about contamination from harmful pesticides and GMOs. Another thing you won’t worry about with Stonyfield YoKids Pouches is artificial flavors or the preservative potassium sorbate. Flavored yogurts do have higher levels of sugar than their plain counterparts though, so keep that in mind.
Best Alternative – Stonyfield Greek Plain Yogurt
This is yogurt at it’s purest and finest. It’s certified organic, high in protein, and low in sugar in relation to other yogurts. It might not be as exciting as squeezable flavored yogurt, but you can add excitement. Try blending it with fresh organic fruit to add sweetness and flavor. You can even freeze the blended mixture to create a healthy Greek yogurt popsicle.
7. Kid Cuisine
You’ve seen these frozen TV dinners at the grocery store. They’re adorned with cartoon characters and bright colors to catch your kids’ eye. After looking at the long list of ingredients on the package, I found a number of concerning components to this meal. Almost too many to name. Everything you see on the front of the package is GMO – all of it! It’s one of the worst processed foods marketed directly to kids.
You’ll find trans fats in the mono- and diglycerides and partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. The package isn’t the only place you’ll find colors either. This Kid Cuisine has Red 40, Yellow 6, Blue 1,and Blue 2 Lake, and annatto. There is also MSG hidden in the whey protein concentrate, spice blend, natural flavors, soy protein concentrate, and carrageenan.
It might save some time to make this microwave meal, but processed foods like this will cause more headaches than cooking – literally. In addition to headaches, it can also cause nausea, allergies, hyperactivity, chest pains, heart palpitations, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and more.
Best Alternative – Homemade
TV dinners just aren’t an easy thing to find when it comes to healthier eating. You can find organic components though. Applegate offers organic chicken strips – pair those with a side of organic veggies and a fruit for dessert, you’ve got a meal to please.
8. Kellogg’s Froot Loops (and other cereals)
You may have heard that Kellogg’s Froot Loops contain weedkiller. That’s because of the GMO sugar, corn and soy that are prevalent in this breakfast cereal and other processed foods. The partially hydrogenated vegetable oil is GMO and contains trans fats, which are considered to be the worst kind of fat and are linked to serious health risks.
The unique spelling of “froot” is probably because you won’t find any real fruit in this cereal. What you will find is a vibrant array of colors. Froot Loops also has 6 artificial and natural colors on the ingredients list. So by starting your child’s day with a bowl full of colored cereal, you’re setting them up for hyperactivity and increased ADD or ADHD symptoms for the day.
Best Alternative – EnviroKidz Cereal
These all-organic cereals come in a variety of flavors to keep your child and his or her taste buds happy. The ingredients list for their Gorilla Munch cereal is comprised of just 3 ingredients. You won’t find GMOs or artificial colors in this option.
9. Hostess Twinkies
Hopefully this is not a surprise to you on a list like this. The Twinkie has never really gotten a reputation as a health food. The ingredients include partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, shortening, and beef fat – all trans fats. It also has the usual offenders of enriched bleached white flour, high fructose corn syrup, dextrose, MSG, and artificial colors. That means over fortified flour, dangerous GMOS, and toxic food additives and colors.
Better Alternative – Arrowhead Mills Organic Vanilla Cake
If you have a child with a sweet tooth and need a twinkie alternative, try this cake mix from Arrowhead Mills. I recommend swapping the eggs and oil for organic applesauce to get a moist cake with fewer calories and fat. Bake into cupcakes and top with fresh organic whipped cream for more of a twinkie flavor.
Best Alternative – Skip the Cakes
Dessert doesn’t have to be part of every meal, but if your child wants something sweet, opt for organic fruit instead. It’s the ultimate convenience food, perfectly prepared by nature. The best part is, it only has one ingredient.
10. Kraft Oscar Meyer Lunchables
There is a wide array of Lunchables products at the grocery store. These processed foods are made to save time when packing a lunch for your child. A closer look at the ingredients and you’ll see a long list of reasons to steer clear of this processed lunch pack. It’s counter productive to your kids’ school day to send them off with this in their bag. The artificial coloring and flavors elicit behavioral reactions and a difficulty in staying focused.
It’s so processed that even the cheese isn’t really cheese, but rather a “cheese product. You’ll find GMOs, trans fat, and even nitrites. These are potentially cancerous and can elicit an allergic reaction.
Best Alternative-Homemade
There isn’t an all organic alternative to Lunchables yet. I’ve easily cut squares of organic lunch meat and cheese and packed them up in a food container with a some organic crackers. It might take 5 minutes more, but it will save you the trouble of those nasty side-effects from the Lunchables ingredients.
Next time you’re off to the grocery store, be sure to cross these processed foods off the list for good. Opt for homemade foods, organic options, and foods without the colors, additives, and chemicals mentioned above. You can find more tips on how to feed your children a healthy lunch here.

August 18, 2017
Today was a good day. I got up and did some yoga, which was a very relaxing way to start my day. Then, I worked on homework for a while, and then I went to work out later on. I’ve decided that I’m not tracking my workouts on here because I already have a journal that I do that in, but I am going to track the food that I ate.
Breakfast - egg, cheese, veggie bacon waffle sandwich
Lunch - veggie meat, corn, and bean burrito with cheese, avocado and veggie, half a peach
Snack - pizza goldfish, pastry crisp, 1 strawberry pop tart
Dinner - tilapia with spinach and tomatoes, quinoa, kale, and spaghetti squash
I was really lazy today and didn't really get much done. At the end of the day, I am content with how the day went, but my plan for tomorrow is to more avidly work on what is required, and less on the unnecessary things.

Still in highschool
1. School starts at 8 am amd ends at 3:15 pm
2. Each class period is 45 minutes long, then we had a period that was an hour long where we would cycle through 3 times that people would eat. (I had C lunch so i was in class for an hour, then i would have lunch, if i was in B lunch i would have had class for 30 min, then lunch, then that same class for another 30 min.)
3. Personally school lunches were absolutly disgusting, exept for 1 or 2 different foods we rarely had. People would eat it, but no one liked it at all. Mostly everyone brought packed lunches, or got something from ala-cart(good snacks you had to pay extra for, think pop-tarts or goldfish) a lot of people just didnt eat lunch, instead they just sat there talking to friends.
4. Every month we had a list of different drills we had to do, tornado every 3 months, fire every 2 months, shooter(imposter) drill every month
5. Each teacher teaches as many subjects as they are lisensed to teach. My social studies teacher teaches psychology, and they are trying to get her to teach french as well. Almost every teacher helps with a sports team, or an after school event.
6. For my school we have aroun 150 students per year(raising in number as you go up the ladder), around 27 students per classroom(depending if its a required class that stand true, but signed up classes are just dependent on how many people signed up/ my theater class had 9 people in it)
7. Most people drive. If you ride the bus, you live within a 30 mile radius around the school. A lot if you lived in town, most people had to walk
8. Again it depends on what the teacher is varified to teach. We have 2 science teachers in our school. One teaches physics, chemistry, robotics. Biology is left up to the health teacher. Health teacher is usually also a gym teacher.
9. It depends on the area your in, but we are required to have 4 English classes, 4 math classes, 3 science classes, 3 social studies(history, phycology) classes, 1 tradework class, 2 art(theater, art, tradework) classes.
10. We have 15 min. to eat lunch, then 5 min. to get between classes
okay as a non-american writing high school aus i have questions for people currently attending high school in the states (or people who graduated somewhat recently), if anyone could help me out that would be lovely!
(when replying/reblogging please mention your state as well!)
how long are you typically in school? (when does class start/when do you go home)
how long is each class period?
how edible are school lunches? do some teachers eat cafeteria lunch too?
how often do you do drills? (fire drills for example)
how many subjects does one teacher teach?
how many students are in one year? in one class? at one school? (i'm very aware this will differ)
how far do students typically travel to school? are school buses still a thing in high school? how many people drive?
does a science teacher teach all science or are there separate teachers for physics/biology/chemistry?
which classes are you required to take?
how many breaks do you get between classes?
i also have specific questions that i think only teachers could answer but since i think i won't be in much luck there i'll leave that off, this post is getting long enough as is (though if any high school teachers see this please let me know)—thanks a million to anyone who can help!!
