had been planning this whole run of subnautica to build a base under the ghost leviathan that's right inside the blood kelp entrance to the lost river and i got my seamoth loaded up with supplies and zoomed down and it's not there????? angry noodle mia???????? what is even the point now. can't have SHIT in the lost river

theres a unique level of frustration when it comes to searching up certain bugs and being bombarded by how they are PESTS and their main trait IS HOW THEYLL PERSONALLY RUIN YOUR LIFE so look at all these EXTERMINATION SITES TO GET RID OF THEM.
like kindly fuck off, please. let me search up local weevils without being told how awful they are to everything around us and how those "nasty acorn weevils do nothing but fuck over oak trees". i almost never see this level of hostility towards more charismatic species such as birds and mammals (aside from maybe rats), and i cannot lie its extremely jarring coming from the more avian side of animal enthusiasm.
i guess i just want more... neutral and unbiased search results for bugs? but man no wonder the average person thinks so poorly of bugs, even those who DO try to look up local insects are met with sites that encourage killing them.

... of some 200 arizona mantises
i found an ootheca at the park, and i know they clear all the dead vegetation out of this area in the winter so i broke this stick off and took it home
and one of the articles said you should try to keep the ootheca in the orientation the mother mantis laid it, so i uhhh
tied it (mostly) upright to my pomegranate tree
i await their emergence in 7-9 months

I love how pandas are so entrenched into my theming and personality now that my mom stopped in the middle of her errands to buy me a panda onesie because she saw it and immediate knew I'd want one
#for the record I have previously expressed a desire for a panda themed onesie. about four years ago#but I also am known to wear onesies and have around 6 of other animals#so it's absolutely a testament to the panda thing again#also my mom came home and her first words were “Im the best mom ever”#(to which I responded “well yeah but I feel like ur saying this bc something prompted it?”)#((and. indeed getting a panda onesie after 6 years of yearning for one. we took pictures for the family gc and everything))#like we have to put it in the laundry first so it wont shed on me too much but I did wear it for like 5 seconds#and I'm still happy and hyped from those 5 seconds#and. for the record. pandas aren't even my favorite animal to any particular capacity#like I like them fine enough? but my favorite mammal is absolutely feline and my favorite animal overall is probably a bird#unfortunately can't narrow it down more specifically bc all felines are awesome (Im big on lions and caracals personally)#(but tigers and leopards and lynx and domesticated and all are also awesome!)#and. idk. all birds are great#Im usually fond of water birds (that are not waterfowl) like kingfishers#recently a bit more vibing with the local fauna tho. so rn Im in a wagtail phase#and as always corvids never miss#and also like vultures and passerines#other birds also cool but typically thats where my interests lie#sometimes also birds of prey. usually falcons but I did have an eagle phase as an 8 years old so yknow#happy posting#:D

The surreal experience of today is the foreign tourists coming to our table (we were in the square enjoying our aperitivo) asking if they could take pictures of my friend because apparently our style of graduation celebration is that special???? uncommon???? Ig we're pretty graduates ahahah
(it's customary for university graduates to wear a laurel crown, usually with red berries and flowy ribbons, a lot of people also choose to add flowers of various types depending on the meaning - literally just picture the Christmas garland you may hang on your door but on someone's head)

I have begun with my art project! We're supposed to document a journey, real or fictional (applies to both journey and place). So, naturally, I'm sending someone into the Distortion.
The first cardboard box is done! There will be another, larger one underneath that's not immediately visible unless you open the door and I'll find a way to fit in little notes of some poor person's attempt at a diary to keep their senses in these corridors. (It won't work but that's the fun in it).
Anyway I'm really excited for this project and I'm super proud of the door so far!
#one note will be halfway hanging through the letter gap 'there is a yellow door in my room. i dont have a yellow door'#the rest? we'll see!#if i can i'll get some of these little pocket mirrors and my teacher is tryna find little led lights i think#it would be sooo trippy (which is to say perfect)#still tryna figure out how to do the notes and other interior though#i thought maybe each wall of the big box is a different colour#or mayyyyybe (and this is a big maybe) i can get my hands onto small pieces of tapestry#that's like. the same pattern but different colours#also my teacher suggested the bigger box underneath but she actually suggested two of those#i'm not sure yet but that could also be fun. or too much. i'll see#funny thing is my tma friend is doing a trip to denmark but that also gets increasingly weird and ends up a file in the magnus institute#and another friend is including the local supernatural fauna of her land of choice very literally#and another friend is also incorporating all creepy myths about those mountains#it's reallllly funny and i'm so excited lmao#it's the coolest project ever istg#a biscuit's rambles
