Finally watching The Terror (2018) after experiencing it solely through Tumblr and it’s not THAT different from what I expected but the things that I knew about it are less significant than I anticipated so far and the things I wasn’t prepared for. Are

Namely, what I knew about The Terror (2018) going into it:

1) It’s based on the Franklin Expedition so it’s about them boys looking for the Northwest Passage and they’re absolutely fucked and they’re going to die and do (homoerotic?) cannibalism about it

2) James Fitzjames = Gender

^ this wasn’t wrong either, though I certainly had received the impression he was going to have more screen time (like, be the main viewpoint character) and also. I was trying to pinpoint why his lil face seemed familiar and I JUST figured out he reminds me of David Walliams. Do with that what you will

Things somehow I didn’t know about The Terror (2018) going into it:

1) There are men who canonically have sex with each other. One of them is a primary antagonist

2) The other primary antagonist of the show, aside from The Cold, is the dumbest-looking CGI polar bear monstrosity you’ve ever seen (I don’t feel that this is spoilers it becomes apparent pretty immediately) and it’s soooooo bad to look at I don’t think I could forgive it in a show that was any less good

3) Harry Goodsir is an actual angel of light and goodness??? But I didn’t know he existed why don’t people talk about him more???? (Ok tbf I get it because generally I only get blorbo sickness over people who are at least a little cunty (see JFJ as mentioned)
