Request: Hi I'm so happy to find your account!!! Do you think you could write something with Siwon as a husband, maybe a chill night as a newlywed couple or going on a trip idk something cute and sweet!! Thank you so much and I hope your blog does well!!!

A/N: I certainly hope you are happy with this request! I was having a bit of a writer’s block so if this isn’t good, I’m so sorry haha. 

Summary: Your husband, Siwon, is always up to no good but this time is no different. 

Fluff

It was the night before yours and Siwon’s wedding anniversary. The past year with him has been amazing with him surprising you here and there. One of the biggest surprises that he gave you was surprising you with a food tour in Italy, where you went for your honeymoon. Knowing you love trying foreign food, Siwon arranged some of the best chefs in Italy and have them create you a whole 25-course meal in the Villa d’Este Gardens at Tivoli, known for its beautiful garden. You not only got to eat the most expensive and luxurious meal in the world but got it to eat with your husband in the most beautiful garden Italy had to offer. 

No doubt was your husband very extra and you would not expect any less from him. Of course, that came with a few little frustrations such as now. Siwon had told you 5 minutes ago to pack up for a 10-day trip to celebrate your anniversary together. Not only do you have one night to pack, considering you’re leaving tomorrow, but he would NOT tell you where the two of you were going! 

“Babe, just tell me like ONE hint! I can’t pack without knowing where we are going! Like, come on! What if I pack three bathing suits and we’re going to Mt. Everest! BABEEEE,” you whined as you swung his arm around. He gave you a cheeky smile and swing his arm back. 

“BABBEEE, NOO,” he mocked you laughing as he watched you give the biggest pout the universe had ever seen. A

After a couple of minutes, you slowly gave up and just packed a variety of clothes. Siwon had soon gone to bed and a light bub went ‘DING’ in your head. Tippy toeing to your sitting area in your bedroom, you see Siwon’s suitcase all packed and ready to go. Looking around at the suitcase, you came to the realization that Siwon had put a LOCK on the suitcase! Darn it! You felt as if Siwon was currently laughing in your face in his dream. Sulking, you gave up as you went back to bed with hope in finding out where you were going with your mischievous husband. He was in a deep sleep with all parts of his limbs spread out on the bed. You giggled and went to bed while hugging Siwon. 

        “Babe. Babe. Babe. Babe. Babe. Babe,” you heard as it woke you out of your subconscious state. Siwon was currently annoying you out of your sleep state while giving you kisses around your face. 

“What time is it?” you asked groggily, trying to grasp reality.

“4 AM. Let’s go, we have a flight to catch.”

“WHAT?!” you said, sitting up straight in a fast pace motion. You glared at him while he just smiled at you. He said nothing else and just darg you to the bathroom to freshen up and rushed you out of the house and to the airport. You would think that you would be able to see the destination on your ticket, but NOPE. Siwon snatched your passport out of your hand and blindfolded you (raising strangers’ eyebrows as they assume that you two were very… adventurous with your… well… ) He told the worker at the check-in area that this was a surprise and she giggled while handing him the tickets. 

“This is the most embarrassing thing you had ever made me done, Siwon,” you said as you cross your arms. 

“You know you love it and me,” he replied. Soon, it was time to board the plane and you sat down on your seat. He finally took off your blindfold and was met with you for the second time this morning, glaring at him. 

“Heh, babe, I know you might be just a tiny bit frustrated with me but trust me, you’ll love it,” Siwon tried to comfort you. Nodding, you finally gave up trying to find clues and his cuddle into his side and catching up on sleep. 

*Peck. Peck. Peck.* 

What is that feeling on your cheek? You didn’t want to wake up but whoever was touching you would not stop. Slowly, you opened your eyes and was met with Siwon’s big eyes as he gave you one last kiss on your forehead. 

“Babe, we’re here,” he softly said to you while getting up. As you attempt to wake up, Siwon bumped his head on the top of the baggage area. You chuckled and thinking how much of an idiot your husband is. As the two of you get out of the airport, you were met with sunny, hot weather with a sign saying Bienvenidos. Quickly turning towards Siwon and was met with his smiling face, you thought of only one place that you could be at. 

Six months ago   -

“Y/N, where is the place that you want to go the most?” Siwon asked one night while stroking your hair. 

“Well, I always wanted to revisit Costa Rica. I haven’t been back there since my school trip in the freshmen year of high school. It would be really nice to go back with you and just see how much it has changed,” you nonchalantly said, not realizing that Siwon had a surprise up your alley. 

-  Present Day  -

“Siwon, you did not!” 

“I most certainly did. You said you wanted to go to Costa Rica so I thought it would be a great time to take you back here for our anniversary.”

You hugged him, as if your whole life depended on it, with a big giant smile. This was a great start to your anniversary and you were more than grateful for your husband, Choi Siwon.

Basic Stuff:

There are currently 11 members under Super Junior.

8 of these members are currently promoting as SuJu (Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, and Ryeowook).

(Heechul is missing due to health reasons but he is in the mv/the album)

Super Junior debuted in 2005 with 12 members, under the name “Super Junior ‘05″. The original plan for Super Junior was for the group to be rotational, the members eventually “graduating” (think NCT Dream) and moving on to other forms of media or solo music activities. This is why SuJu are the #1 “comic-dols”; they were trained in media. Leeteuk as an MC, Shindong as a comedian, so on and so forth. The plan never went through, and with the addition of maknae Kyuhyun, the group became “Super Junior” instead of “Super Junior ‘05″.

Kim Kibum (not Key from SHINee) left in 2006 to focus on his acting. Hangeng, the only Chinese member, filed a lawsuit against SM in 2009 for mistreatment and left the company, leaving the group at 11 members.

Members Sungmin and Kangin are currently on hiatus. Sungmin got married in 2015, and when SuJu announced their comeback in 2017 after a 3 year hiatus, ELFs strongly opposed his presence in the group and SM decided not to include him in the comeback. Kangin is on hiatus for his second DUI, which he committed in 2016. Kyuhyun is currently finishing his active military service and will return on May 24th, 2019. when will my husband return from the war

This brings us to our 8 current members!

The Members:

Leader Leeteuk (Park Jungsu)

The oldest member, the leader, and our favorite attention loving MC. He’s a vocalist (I’m really not going to go into main/lead for anything, just general positions bc SuJu has some Serious Talent™). He’s a well known MC, and is one of the more popular members of SuJu along with Heechul. This is a secret, but he’s also a baby boy who deserves your love and respect so most definitely give it to him.

Heechul (Kim Heechul)

Arguably one of the more popular members of SuJu (at least among international K-Pop fans), Kim Heechul is well known for being a smart ass and generally funny person. He’s a vocalist/rapper in SuJu. He’s very caring under his brutal sense of humor and tough exterior (he’s had the same makeup team for 13 years and he even bought one of his makeup artists a new phone when she cracked it). He also has the voice of an angel, listen to Evanesce if you don’t believe me

Yesung (Kim Jongwoon/Jonghoon)

His birth name is Kim Jongwoon, but his mom changed it in 2016 to Jonghoon because she thought his name would bring him bad luck (it literally translated to thundercloud/storm cloud). He is a vocalist and his voice is absolutely amazing your faves wish they had his vocal power. He’s very shy, and soft, and he’s an absolute baby, please give him the appropriate love. Listen to his solo stuff, it’s really amazing

Shindong (Shin Donghee)

He’s so funny i hate him sometimes

One of our dancers! That people often overlook because of his weight so if I see you disrespecting Shindong I will appear at the end of your bed and beat the shit out of you as you sleep

**and before anyone brings it up, yes Shindong made fatphobic comments before. Yes, he apologized. Yes, you can grow as a person after previously making problematic statements, so please do not show up in my inbox attacking him like you were born ‘woke’ and like you didn’t have to learn things. Same goes for Siwon.**

He’s also an amazing singer and I think people often overlook him in general which really makes me sad. His song in the redemption round of Masked Singer was truly amazing! Please watch it! Shindong also produced SuJu’s latest tour, along with Eunhyuk, and he helps choreograph the dances

Eunhyuk (Lee Hyukjae)

Our other dancer! He’s also the rapper of SuJu, alongside Heechul and occasionally other members (please RapKyu come back). SuJu has a couple different subunits, but only one is really active: Super Junior D&E, containing Donghae and Eunhyuk. He’s got a great singing voice along with his raps (his high note in Sweater and Jeans makes me melt) and even wrote a solo rap to perform on Super Shows. A true triple threat, look out ladies

Siwon (Choi Siwon)

Our visual, and vocalist king (also our local rich kid) Siwon is the biggest sweetheart known to man. He is constantly doing charity work and volunteering during his free time. His voice is incredibly steady and his humor is very underappreciated?? He’s really damn funny at times, please love this man

Donghae (Lee Donghae)

The second half of D&E, another amazing dancer, a great singer, and the winner of SM’s beauty contest, Donghae is the most adorable 33 year old man I’ve ever laid eyes on and he’s SUCH a sweetheart. Super Junior’s resident crybaby (he managed to start crying 7 seconds after he was told to) he is one of the most empathetic people I’ve seen, and he absolutely deserves your love and respect as well. He’s also the fake maknae of SuJu

Ryeowook (Kim Ryeowook)

The original maknae, and the temporary maknae until Kyuhyunie returns again, my husband Wookie is our final promoting member and vocal GOD. His voice is absolutely stunning, and he recently had a solo comeback! He dropped two MV’s, and a special track around a month ago. He’s sarcastic, but shy, and totally hates Siwon and his high fives but he cares about his members more than he would ever admit.

a/n: this one just kinda wrote itself this was such a cool prompt thank you anon!

You never liked working with other people on missions. You liked to work alone. But here you were, on a mission with none other than Choi Siwon. You and Siwon both worked for SM Agency. You were both the top agents, constantly battling to be better than the other. Despite not liking each other and requesting to not work with other people, your agency put you and Siwon on a case together.

You sat in the passenger seat of the car as Siwon drove. You read over the case file again, making sure you didn’t miss anything. Siwon glanced over at you. He smirked and you scoffed at him.

“What?”

“You’re always a bit of a try hard, aren’t you?” he said

“I’m not a try hard! I just try to do my job to the best of my ability,” you defended yourself

Siwon uttered an unimpressed ‘sure’ and brought his attention back to the road. You huffed and turned away from him, looking outside at the passing scenery. He was so infuriating.

Siwon drove the two of you to a hotel where the two of you would be staying as well as doing your mission at. You grabbed your bag from the trunk and walked into the hotel, Siwon in tow. You checked into your room and headed up to the room. You took the elevator up to the 14th floor where your room was. You entered the room and was met with a nice hotel suite. You threw your bag down on the couch and sat down.

“Okay, what’s next?” you asked

“Aren’t you supposed to know what we do next, try hard?” he teased

“I’m not-” you sighed “Forget it. What’s our plan?”

“Well, the target is going to be at a gala held at this hotel tonight. And we’re going to attend…” he paused “as a couple.”

“No,” you stood up and pointed at Siwon, “I never agreed to be your girlfriend.” 

“Oh, come on. It’s not real. Plus, we need to do this for the mission.”

You sighed, knowing he was right. You muttered a disgruntled ‘fine’ and grabbed your bag off the couch. You walked into the bedroom to get ready. You got dressed up in your best clothes. You walked out of the bedroom ready to go down to the ballroom. Siwon stood in the middle of the living room, dressed up in a blue suit. His eyes went wide when he saw you.

“Wow, Y/N you-uh you look...great.”

“You do too,” your hand went to the back of your neck, scratching at the skin there.

It was quiet for a moment before Siwon cleared his throat and offered his arm to you.

“Shall we go?”

You walked into the ballroom still holding onto Siwon’s arm. You looked around the room, looking for your target. Siwon was doing the same. You locked eyes on the man and pulled on Siwon’s arm. You pointed out the target and he nodded. You both walked over to him and greeted him as if you were other guests invited to the gala.

“Well, aren’t you two an adorable couple,” the man’s wife said

Your face went hot. You wanted to protest but of course, you couldn’t. Siwon smiled and pulled you closer to him by your waist. You smiled and gently giggled. It was partly fake.

Siwon and the target talked, trying to get more information out of him. You chatted with the man’s wife seeing if she knew anything. A waiter came over and whispered in the man’s ear. The man excused himself. Siwon sighed, a little upset that the man left. He looked over at you and took a moment to actually admire you.

The target’s wife chatted with you for a little while longer but then excused herself to go find her husband. You looked around and didn’t see Siwon anywhere nearby. You were about to pull out your phone to angerly text him when you felt someone tap your shoulder. You turned around and there was Siwon holding two flutes of champagne.

“Here, thought you could use a drink,” he handed one of the flutes to you.

“Thanks.”

You took a long sip of the drink. It was delicious, the bubbles feeling nice on your lips. Siwon watched you as you drank, just admiring you. You sighed and relaxed a bit, taking another sip of champagne. Siwon chuckled to himself at your behavior. There was a comfortable silence between you as you observed the other guests at the gala.

“So, what got you into this business?” Siwon asked

“Jesus, that’s a loaded question,” you turned to him

“Well, I was curious!” he exclaimed

Both of you went quiet, not really sure what to say now. You turned away from him, bringing your attention back to the other people at the gala.

“I joined the agency because I wanted to help people,” you said, “I always wanted to be a hero to at least one person that needed help.”

“That’s really sweet,” Siwon smiled

“It’s a bit of a childish dream but that’s why I’m here,” you chuckled “and that’s why I’m a ‘try hard’.”

Siwon looked over at you and watched you as you looked out at the sea of people. You glanced over at him and your eyes locked on each other. You stared at each other, unable to look away from him. You look a moment to really look at him. You knew he was handsome but you never really took a moment to actually look at his face. You noticed all the small lines on his face and how kind he looked. Your face grew hot and you peeled your eyes off of him. Siwon looked down at the ground, gently clearing his throat. He looked at his watch.

“It’s pretty late. Should we call it a night?”

He extended his wrist to you so you could see the time. It was rather late. You agreed and the two of you left the ballroom and made your way back up to your hotel room. When you arrived back at the room, you immediately went into the bedroom to get out of the fancy clothes you were wearing. You came back out into the living room with a comfortable pair of pajamas on. You saw that Siwon had done the same. You walked into the small kitchenette and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.

“I’m heading to bed now,” you told Siwon “I’m exhausted.”

“Yeah me too.”

You both walked into the bedroom and went over to your beds. Before you got into bed, Siwon spoke up.

“You know, that wasn’t the best first date,” he laughed

“That was not a date,” you clarified

“Good, cause I want our first date to be better than that.”

“Is this you asking me on a date?” you asked

“If I was, would you say yes?” he smiled

You felt your face get hot and looked away, a smile appearing on your face. Siwon let out a small laugh at your blush. You got into bed and looked over at him.

“I wouldn’t say no if you asked,” you said quietly

You laid down in your bed and turned off your light, muttering a quick goodnight to Siwon. He smiled to himself and got into his bed. He turned off the light saying goodnight back to you. You both knew this was the start of something amazing.

Nothing around him looked familiar.

He had left his flat two hours ago, determined to find a store he had seen on the internet that sold international products, walked for about twenty minutes, and now he was horribly lost.

High skyscrapers had morphed into houses and narrow allies, and he had absolutely no idea where he was.

Also, he still hadn’t bought a Korean SIM card, so contacting Chen and asking for help- or even using Naver maps- was not an option.

Fuck, Chen. He was going to be so mad. Just great.

“Are you lost?” He turned around as he heard someone talk to him and nodded. “Do you need help?”

The tall, handsome stranger that, somehow, resembled a horse, offered him a smile.

“Yes, please. I want to go back home but have no idea how to get there.”

He showed the stranger the paper where he had written the flat’s address.

“Oh, I live there too! What a wonderful coincidence. C’mon, I’ll show you the way.” The two started walking. “So, I noticed that’s Romanised, are you not from around?”

“Yes! I just moved here. I’m from England, and to be honest, the hangul on the street signs started to give me a headache, so I have no idea what I’m doing.”

The stranger laughed.

They walked silently for ten more minutes and, suddenly, before Bernard even realised, they were in front of his tower.

The other man punched in the door code, and they both went in.

“Floor?” The other asked when they reached the lift.

“Third”

“Oh, we’re neighbours?” The other man suddenly widened his eyes. “You must be Jongdae’s new flatmate, then?” Bernard nodded with a smile. “That’s wonderful! My name is Choi Siwon. I live with my husband, and his brother, but only temporarily, right next door, on the 303 B!”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, my name is Bernard Barnes.”

“Oh, pleasure indeed! Here we are! Well, very nice to meet you. If you ever need anything, please knock, someone tends to be at home most of the time, especially my brother-in-law, since his job is flexible.”

Before he knew it, Siwon was speeding down the highway heading out to the country. Seoul was soon just a speck and in his rearview mirror. So many emotions were running rapidly through his body. One minute he was filled with overwhelming joy that she was still alive. The next minute he wanted to shake her till she got dizzy from putting him through such grief. There was also a few times in between where he was sure he'd start blubbering like a newborn babe, but he tried to keep a stiff up lip and only sniffle. What would she think if she saw him with tear-streaked cheeks and eyes rimmed with red?

He shook his head. Hands gripping the steering wheel tight as he finally comes to the off-ramp. In due time, he was making his way through heavy traffic. It seemed like everyone was going as slow as they possibly could today. No one seemed like they were in a hurry. He was though and it was starting to irk him that these people were wasting his time with her. " Damn it." he swore, fingers tapping at the steering wheel. It was supposed to take him another forty-five minutes to get to their secluded home, but he made it there in fifteen. He might have gone a tad over the speed limit. He slammed the car door shut and took off running into the house. He yelled her name as he went around checking every room. There was no answer, but the bed had been slept in recently. That was a good sign. " Where could she be? No way she left her things here. Her car is still parked out-" then it hit him. The meadow. Out the back door, he flew like he was air itself. He could see her in the distance, running her hands over the flower heads as she walked by. From the way the light was hitting her, it almost looked like she was flickering in and out of this world. She looked like an earth spirit with her hair gently swaying as she moved, skin glowing in the light and that summer dress looked stunning. Yes, she looked otherworldly to him as he ran to be with her. His arms pumped faster and his legs took long strides. He kept his eyes trained on her as if willing her not to leave this world. He would be the anchor she needed if only she would give him a few moments to get to her. She must have heard him running through the flowers because she turned around to look. Her eyes widened in surprise but a smile soon appeared on her face. Then before she could even speak, she was being held tightly in his arms with his head buried in the crook of her neck. "Siwon?" she questioned, not really believing this was real. She had no idea what was going. She just knew he needed her to let him hold her. "I was so worried" he began, after several minutes of silence passed. " I thought you were dead." She blinked a couple of times. Dead? Her? Why would she be dead? Seeing the confused look on her face, Siwon let out a small sigh. "You were supposed to get on the train yesterday to go to the meeting." He saw her face lit up with remembrance. "I was, but I didn't feel well so I told them I couldn't make it and instead went to see my doctor." She answered, lacing her fingers through his as she smiled up at him. He gave her a long kiss, one that made her knees weak and toes tingle. Usually, he was somewhat passionate and maybe a little aggressive when it came to kissing her, but not this time. He was gentle and took his time. It was nice to see this side of him for a change. "That was different than your usual ones. Why the change?" She inquired, (e/c) eyes catching his gaze under long black lashes as she leaned into him. He just shook his head and smiled. Siwon was just happy that he was able to be with her now. She would find out the truth about the catastrophic train accident some other day. At the moment he just wanted to embrace her and never let her go. He looked up to the sky and thanked Shisus for sending her that temporary morning sickness that kept his precious girl off the train. "Siwon?" "Hmm?" He murmured, looking back at [Y/n] warmly. [Y/n] bit her lip. She had some pretty life-changing news to tell him now that he was here at their home in the country. [Y/n] was planning on waiting a few days since he just got back from China, but then again [Y/n] couldn't keep a secret to save her life. "I'm pregnant." She wasn't one to beat around the bush. For a minute [Y/n] couldn't tell if Siwon was happy, sad or anything. So many emotions were being expressed in those dark chocolate orbs of his. Maybe now hadn't been the best time to tell him. "Are you absolutely sure?" He asked seriously, now holding [y/n] at arm's length. [Y/n] slowly nodded her head. "Shisus, you work in mysterious ways." Siwon pulled [Y/n] into his rock hard chest and nuzzled her neck, his arms wrapped securely around her figure. "Are you happy?" [Y/n] voice barely above a whisper. She really wanted him to be happy about this. "You have no idea, yeobo." He gave [Y/n] a quick kiss. "You and this baby are a blessing. I'm so thankful to have you both in my life." A few tears ran down her face at his kind words. "Oh, Siwon. I'm thankful for you as well. I love you." Her arms finally encircling his waist in a tender embrace. He gave her another kiss. "I love you, Choi [Name]. “ And there [Name] stood with her husband in the middle of a beautiful meadow. The sun was still shining brightly in the azure sky and yellow and pink flower petals were floating around the three of them. It was a picturesque scene for sure.

The fight had been going on for weeks now. It was a day in and day out situation that just had the two of you at each others throat. You knew that once Siwon was back that his acting would pick up again because he was an amazing actor, but you didn’t expect a scandal to break out so soon. People knew that Siwon was dating someone, but they never knew who, so once this idea came up…there was no end.

‘Well what do you want me to do then?’ Siwon shouted, ‘Quit my job?’

‘I never said you had to quit the job, Siwon!’ You pointed accusingly at him, ‘Stop twisting my words!’

‘It’s not twisting when it’s what you thinking!’ He yelled, throwing his hands up in frustration.

‘Whatever.’ You rolled your eyes and began walking to the bedroom but was cut short when he held your wrist sharply, ‘Let go of my arm, Siwon.’

‘Don’t ‘whatever' me like I am some child, I am your boyfriend, Y/N!’

‘Oh really? Would have fooled me since everyone thinks you dating KANG SORA!’

Siwon started filming a new drama with actress Sora, at first you were so excited because Sora was an amazing actress and woman. You got close to here when Leeteuk played her husband in We Got Married. She was so shy and awkward when he introduced her to the other members behind the scenes that once she met you, it was more calming for her to have another female presence around. You thought she was your friend, until now.

‘Why do you still think I am cheating on you!?’ Siwon hissed, tugging your wrist so you were both in the lounge again.

You narrowed your eyes, ‘You’re amazing at acting all pure and innocent. The all holy Christian Choi Siwon!’

‘Don’t bring my religion into this, Y/N!’ He scolded, ‘It has nothing to do with your insecure feelings.’

At that moment you finally blew it, he finally hit that nerve that you had tried to keep at bay, ‘SO WHAT IF I AM INSECURE!’ You shouted, he remained silent as a tear fell down your cheek, ‘Do you blame me? You are Choi-Fucking-Siwon, every woman and girl want you to be theirs. You are handsome, funny and amazing yet I can’t express that…I can’t post pictures of us because of security issues yet she can openly show the two of you together? That isn’t fair Siwon…it really isn’t.’

‘Baby…’

‘Forget it, you don’t understand anyway because like I said; you are Choi Siwon.’ You whispered in absolute defeat, standing up and walking away before being pulled into his chest, ‘Let me go!’

‘Why didn’t you tell me?’ He asked, holding you tight to his chest, ‘Baby I love you, I keep you a secret because that is HOW much I love you…it’s for your safety.’

‘Or you just embarrassed about me.’ Your words muffled into his jersey.

‘What? Wait look at me,’ Siwon pulled you away and held your face in his hands, wiping the tears way with his thumbs, ‘Please don’t cry…never over me. You are worth so much more then you think and I am not embarrassed of you. You are the best thing to happen to me and I want to keep you safe. I love the fans but some of them just don’t understand that Idol’s are humans to. We love them but we also deserve love…and you are my love, Y/N.’

‘Y-you really mean that?’ You stuttered.

‘Every word sweetheart, and you know what, if you want to go public then we do that.’ He kissed your forehead, ‘I don’t know where you got this silly idea about me being embarrassed over you but I ain’t. I love you Y/N and I want the world to see that.’

‘You don’t have to do this.’

K-DRAMA WOMEN’S WEEK: FALL POSTSCRIPT

Day 4: Work x3 Rent’s Due

I got my wires crossed and used the Day 2 Rent’s Due prompt title to answer the Work x3 prompt, instead? So today I’ll do the one on a character navigating adulthood, where it was interesting!

I started out feeling a bit apologetic about the fact that I’m casting back into the past for dramas, but in a way, that is what I have to offer the fandom. Not being around forever (though geez it’s been like 7 years or something? OK no just 5 hold it my math is weak um yeah it’s 8.) but because I’ve ended up actually watching a decent amount of dramas dating from even earlier.... Even though right now I’m not watching much current K-drama, I’m still here!

I personally find it pretty interesting (and revealing) that the first dramas to pop into my head for this prompt are mothers re-entering the workforce. Neither of these dramas are top faves, but I was drawn to the stories of these women having to try to make their way for themselves.

Oh My Lady

This was one of the intriguing dramas that didn’t quite deliver in the end, at least for me, maybe because I wanted more romance. Then again, I think it was a little off the beaten road, and I hadn’t watched enough dramas then to see that from the start. In this story, Chae Rim’s character is an ajumma who is suddenly divorced and wants to be able to keep her child. he ends up as housekeeper to a demanding star, played by Choi Siwon*. It doesn’t have the right kind of stability, though so she’s also looking for office jobs. Deploying ajumma bargaining skills to get what she needs to land a job with a production agency was kinda great to watch.

*Who apparently was recently discharged from the military, so that’s why I thought “huh, haven’t heard from him in a while” -- he’ll be starting his next project soon, apparently!

Three Dads, One Mom

This was another drama that I watched all the way through and was slightly disappointed in the end**, perhaps again because I didn’t see the signs early enough that the romance element wasn’t going to be resolved in a neat bow. Though the premise is that a widowed pregnant woman is living with her husbands 3 best friends--any of whom MAY just be the sperm donor he usedwhen they were having fertility issues, without her knowledge (oh k-drama medical ethics) and obviously that was the main focus of the plot...some of the best moments of connection in the drama were over her returning to work, rather than over the baby. There was one impactful scene where she apologizes to the guy who’s the shabbiest friend for complaining so much about the smell of his feet--now she’s on her feet at work all day, her feet smell, too.

I mean, it doesn’t sound particularly heartwarming, but it was touching. She had gotten used to being coddled in a way, and having to go out and make a living shifted her attitude toward someone she’d judged rather quickly.

**On searching for an image, I stumbled across a Japanese drama that has to be a remake--which actually appeals to me quite a bit. I can see it fitting the drama conventions better with J-drama. The ambiguous end felt a little strange in a Korean drama, where usually the ending note is firm, but that’s kind of the J-drama comedy wheelhouse.

Honorable mention goes to What’s Up, Fox. The heroine struggles a little to keep things going at her adult magazine job, and she’s not really in a transition--which is what her story is about. At a more mature age, a lot of firsts start happening for her that are scary, and she has to negotiate them--but they’re in her emotional life, which she seems to have been stagnant in. She’s lived with fantasy instead of reality in that area, and when life hits her upside the head with an emotional entanglement, she’s equally torn between pretending it never happened and letting it change her life.

Alright, listen up. There is a list of actors that need to get the girl or be happy for goddamn once. 1) Yook Sungjae!!!!!!!!!! I cried my bloody eyes out because of School 2015 because despite how much I love Nam Joo Hyuk, Tae-kwang should’ve gotten Eunbi/Eunbyul. 100%, he was the strongest, most tragic second lead syndrome I’ve ever had. I get emotional thinking about. God.

2) Kim Woo Bin! Maybe it’s because I haven’t watched all his stuff, but I’ve watched Heirs, Uncontrollably Fond, and To the Beautiful You and the ending is NEVER happy for him! LET HIM BE HAPPY FOR ONCE.

3) Seo Kang Joon!!!! SERIOUSLY. Seo Kang Joon is my husband ok. In After School: Lucky or Not he was sort of a main lead but its not like he got a happy or romantic ending. I haven’t seen Cunning Single Lady, but I hear he was the second lead. In What Happens to My Family he was second lead, and LET’S NOT FUCKING TALK ABOUT CHEESE IN THE TRAP, LEST I DESTROY SOMETHING. My point is, how the fuck does he not have a single romance drama where he serves as the main lead? I seriously need this! Seo Kang Joon is a legend! Everyone knows him! He’s like Lee Jong Suk, except HE DOESN’T EVER GET THE GODDAMN GIRL.

4) Siwon! Yes, I know he was really only in She Was Pretty as second lead, but it was so tragic it deserves a mention.

5) Jisoo! BRB CRYING ABOUT SASSY GO GO. Okay, listen. I know he (SPOILER ALERT) (SPOILER ALERT) marries Hae Soo in Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, but did she ever rlly love him like he loved her? Nope. And oh my God, even though the endgame pairing in Sassy Go Go was OTP af, Jisoo really made me cry for him. And YES, I am aware he was main lead in the mini drama Page Turner but the point is he deserves a complete, official drama where he is MAIN LEAD.

I’m sure there are others, but these are the ones I can think of that piss me off.

Lee Jong Suk, Lee Min Ho, Jung Il Woo, Park Seo Joon, and Nam Joo Hyuk are all great actors, but they need to step tf back and let some of the resident second leads get the girl for once.

There needs to be more Lee Hyun Woo’s, Park Hyungsik’s, Ryu Joon Yeol’s in the world. You know, actors that have been second leads but get justice by being the main lead for another show. Like Hyungsik is second lead in Hwarang but in High Society and What Happens to My Family, he actually gets the girl, (I think). And omg Lee Hyun Wo was second lead in To The Beautiful You (psh who can resist Choi Minho tbh he’s like a Greek God) but then he beat another Kpop band member (Hongbin from VIXX) in Moorim School and got the girl! He deserved it, and he did a good job. WE NEED MORE OF THESE. WE DON’T NEED MORE KDRAMAS WITH LEE JONG SUK (has he ever lost the girl? EVER?) (you know you need to chill when you win Park Shinhye over).
