so I was casually looking at my hero aca locations for a fanfic thing and I noticed that most of the story takes place within 500km south of Tokyo, which is a little odd cause the main themes talk about the fate of Japan (the whole country) so often. wouldn't you want to spread your characters/arcs/villains/etc over a wide area to emphasize how the coming battles will affect all people in all places and show how different ways of life from urban centers to farmers will be affected? does everything north of Tokyo not matter? are there people in Hokkaido just watching the news like 'ah we dont have to worry about that, that's Tokyo nonsense'?

This is the oldest pattern of plot

Sir Arthurian stories where knights search for a sacred item or Greek heros who set out to achieve a certain goal - all of these fall under this category.

The quest for inner peace or knowledge (The Catcher in the Rye) is also included.

Rudiments of The Quest

The Lead is somene who is incomplete in his ordinary world

The thing searched for must be of vital importance

There must be huge obstacles preventing the Lead from gaining it

The quest should result in the Lead becoming a different person at the end; a fruitless quest, however, may end in tragedy for the Lead

Structure of The Quest

Act I

Introduction to the Lead's world

Show the inner lack that the quest will help remedy

-The Doorway of No Return- Lead commences the quest

Act II

series of enounters (episodic feel)

the Lead will suffer setback (conflict) and struggle to overcome it, making progress with each milestone.

-The Doorway of No Return- (1) major crisis or (2) discovery of a major clue

Act III

The quest comes to an end (win or lose)

The final image: the hero returns to the original story world, having accomplished what he lacked.

the glorification of self harm and suicidal ideation in mha really ticks me off and you may be saying but but! there's no such thing as super cops in real life so it doesn't really matter! bzzzt wrong. the first thing you learn in crisis management, first aid, or emergency services (all real heroics) is to save yourself first or to be the safest you can possibly be before running into a disaster. firefighters don't just not suit up because the fire is "too bad" or they "don't have enough time" that's just suicide.

professional athletes (the guys who run around in colorful outfits for brand deals & such) are so conscious and some can be borderline obsessive of their physical conditioning because that's the basis of their livelihood! they know that sometime in their 40s their body will start breaking down to the point they can't do their job anymore so they do everything in their power to prevent or at least not help that along. that includes being very careful to avoid breaking all your bones multiple times in a row.

the way mha rewards the characters for jumping into dangerous situations without a plan knowing that they'll permanently injure themselves and then never mentions those permanent disabilities again is wild! and that's before we start touching on the ideation that your personal self worth has to hinge on how much you can do for other people. like the thesis of mha heroics is if you can't save everyone you might as well die trying. insanity!

ohhh I just met davrin and I really like him so far. he is not going to like my rook very much until they start to understand each other better (beneath rye ingellvar's flippant jokester exterior and willingness to try talking it out first is a spine and will of steel but you'd be forgiven for not realizing that on socially awkward introduction), but I do like the way davrin just comes into the figurative room and goes '...what the actual fuck are you guys getting up to in here' already tired but game to give it a shot anyway. the lighthouse dynamic really needed this dude (especially in my playthrough fdsha). he shows up like 'how can five adult intrepid heroes not have a single warrior ability between them. how is your only tactic of defense 'oh shit, everyone dodge!!!'. what is this glass canon nonsense' and three mages and two rogues look at the floor and stammer out 'I... well, we... the economy is in shambles.... a-and I mean, the apocalypse.......'

The VAs behind Avatar's voice

I was playing World Tour and for some reason I never really put too much thought into my Avatar's voice, and who the ENG VA was.

And it got me thinking about the other Avatar's voices that made an appearance, and who they were. Surprisingly, I have heard the Eng VAs in different medias before.

Hopefully, this can help people hear what their OCs sound like, instead of hearing bits and pieces from the game.

Below the cut, Hero & Co bicker over homicidal ghost motives.

“I think my life just flashed before my eyes,” Martin croaked while holding his throat. “What’s your name?” Hero asked. “Scared shitless,” he said without missing a beat. He’d be fine. Hero stood and squinted beyond his glasses to the dark corners of the stage. When it left Martin’s body, Hero couldn’t see its form. Why was this presence concealing itself? He started to move forward but a hand on his shoulder held him back. Rye’s bright brown eyes brimmed with worry. “Maybe we should leave it,” they said. Hero understood. That display would spook anyone. Hero looked beyond them to Aki. Her eyes were also on him, brows drawn together. “You’re still performing tonight?” he asked. She didn’t say anything for a while.

Rye swiveled on her. “Are you serious? You saw what it did to Martin, right?” “What did it do to me?” Martin looked at his hands then patted his chest, bewildered. Aki ignored them both. “Its attacks are inconsistent, yeah? The last one was in 2000. Why do you think that is?” “I think its been more consistent than you give it credit for.” The owner, Patton Weeks, got the property for a bargain about three years ago and it gave him nothing but issues since. He complained about numerous outages and surges that made every new piece of equipment he plugged in faulty. He hired a contractor to replace the old electrical system but one too many of their guys got electrocuted, even though they swore up and down they followed all proper safety procedure. It wasn’t too uncommon of a problem with Hollow Grove’s old buildings so there was a “two shocks and we’re out” rule employed for all infrastructure in the county. So Weeks got stuck with a money sink. Most of the ghosts in the building liked him though, so a pile of money appeared in front of his office every time the property rent came due. And Soul’s Bar was a popular hang for the undead crowd, especially come Arbor day. Don’t ask; Weeks doesn’t know either. “Maybe Martin touched something he shouldn’t have,” Aki said. At Martin’s squawk of outrage, she elaborated, “Like tripped a wire or something like that.” “I think sucking the breath out of you for tripping over a wire or pressing the wrong button is an overreaction, even from a ghost,” Hero said.
