what's my biggest pet peeve well it's when someone makes a text post on tumblr dot com in which they are trying to romanticize the notion of the livestock guardian dog but they don't know the distinction between a livestock guardian dog and a herding dog and also they've never met a livestock guardian dog and do not realize what their attitudes towards the sheep that they protect actually are

hey in ur peri animatic: (https://youtu.be/OCqlRuDaXYU?si=K52WDu_vw9rg7chz) that I have been permanently obsessed over since today and have watched about 20 times by now so much that I have drawn & posted stuff based on it what was that partial bug form peri had?
Tumblr media
I haven’t watched either of the show btw so if it’s explained in the show please tell me plsssss
OK, SO the bug thing is not technically canon to the series. It's based on my own headcanons for fairy biology, but i do have justifications for it!! Fairies have very strong shape-shifting abilities, so it would make sense that the form they show to humans isn't necessarily their true form(not to mention extreme that mimicry is very common in insects). And you want to know the visible traits almost every fairy has in common? Being very small with Insect-like wings.
The fact that their humanoid form isn't their true form in actually confirmed in the show! Cosmo and Wanda are revealed to look like biblically accurate pseudo-angels in the museum episode. (I say pseudo angels because the Flaming Sword of Eden is only debatably sentient and I don't think is considered an angel. Ophanim are also debatably not angels because they don't have wings (sorry for the angel tangent I like angels))
Tumblr media
So wouldn't their true forms be angelic then? Well, yes. But I like bugs so. Also I have more headcanons to justify myself. I like to think that they have both a true-true form (incomprehensible to the human brain, probably exists mostly in a dimension invisible to us, that looks how we imagine biblically accurate angels), and a fairy form (which is visible to humans but is naturally very insect like and tends to scare people). So, in order to interact with humans, they have to learn to shapeshift into a humanoid form but will occasionally slip if they get too relaxed/aren't careful, hence the mandibles coming out when he yawns!
The reason they struggle so much more with human forms than the animals or objects they typically turn into is that, well, they aren't trying to convince those animals or objects. The more human they try to look, the harder it is to keep up convincingly. If you turn into a really uncanny squirrel, only other squirrels will notice. If you turn into a really uncanny human, they form a lynch mob and burn you at the stake.

For those interested (and uninterested!), chapter 2 of Blue & Silver has been posted: After offering a winter spirit (not a homeless man), a car ride, Hiccup and Jack hit it off. Considering that the strange lake Hiccup's been dreaming about nonstop is none other than Jack's, they figure have even more in common than they thought. (Sharing a mutual unlove for twilight is just a bonus, really). Now Hiccup is back home and has questions left to answer and perhaps a friend to meet again. Or another in the process. Fortunately, the lake is not that far away.
@imdeadtiredtm and I are co-writing this story, and it's very fun. Well, it also makes my brain hurt at times, but more than that, its fun.
If you're here for what you've actually come for, do enjoy it, but in the case you've never tried reading for this particular side of the internet, hurrowed in a corner, then I definitely recommend it. Think of it like trying Free Samples at the supermarket. We all know its a strategic marketing move to goad off our wallets, but hey! Free samples! At most, you'll lose a laugh or two as you consider what has led you to the point of reading a crack crossover fic of the years 2010, and maybe, you'll stay for the actual content, like that wasn't our plan all along. Case in point: How to train your dragon and rise of the guardians have so much lore and vitality, especially their books; The main characters happen to have an interesting dynamic together, and its nice to uncover it. So yeah! Have fun!

SPOILERS FOR GOTG VOL. 3 - DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED IT YET!
I have a feeling that everyone (who calls themselves fans) that didn't get the meaning of the ending in GOTG Vol. 3 has never read a single comic of them or is only a fan of some characters/relationships. Many complaints I've seen are about the end and Gamora and Peter’s romance, which sounds kind of childish. You don't need to agree with me, but Id like to elaborate on that.
James Gunn's writing is always about the detail of things and he is not afraid to do something “bad” if it is the best for the STORYTELLING. This is what most of these people don't get: the most important part of these movies is the story they are telling. The characters help the movie tell the story, it's their story after all — but there's no protagonist or greater good that puts them above the narrative.
(This is different from Gamora’s death in IW btw. It was not the only way they had to make the story flow; they just wanted to “humanize” Thanos and by that, they chose to kill her character. It was an action ADDED not CRUCIAL to the story.)
Vol. 3 is about found-family and growing up; finishing cycles. They will always be family, as we will always be part of their story (that’s why we understand Groot now). However, life chapters end just like in real books, and these Guardians as a TEAM “chapter” has ended for them and for us.
This is very common in the comics. Most times they are all separated, doing solo missions, until something goes wrong and they reunite again. They never stop being friends, why would it be different in the movie universe?
But the end suggests they are not family anymore.
Did we see the same film? No, it doesn't. We can see that in James’ subtle writing: the way they all still respect each other, their understanding of one another, and how they all would die for themselves if needed. That won't change just because they are not physically together — just like when you finish school you won't ignore your best friends, even if you create new relationships (which you will).
But Gamora is not part of the family anymore.
Well, if you see it this way, I can't change your mind. What I can say is that the story IMPLIES that she still is, in fact. And the number one clue is that she (in 2 days) understands Groot. Remember, we also understand him because the fans are now part of the Guardians family — so understanding him and being family are correlated.
Anyhow, I know this is not enough for most people, so hear me out: Gamora’s arc is about respect and healing. She starts the movie skeptical about working with the guardians — she just wants the money— when in reality, she acts like this because she is AFRAID and feels PRESSURED to be around her “old” family.
Imagine: you died but then another version of you comes back without knowing anything of your present life. People will expect you to act in a certain way that maybe you started to act after you met them; they will expect you to like certain things you don't know of; people will EXPECT you to attend to their needs. It is a lot to swallow at once. You are afraid because you don't know them, you don't think you deserve all this love and commitment out of nowhere. So you run away. You run away to find things on your own, to grow out of this pressure you feel and discover the whole universe of possibilities you have ahead.
That's what Gamora did. But then, the mission went south and now she is stuck with her “old” team. The film shows us her character exploring the ship, listening to music... trying to understand them. At one point she even says to Rocket “You must be a very loyal pet for them to do all this for you” (or something similar). This is her way of putting into words how she visualizes the current scenario she was put in. Slowly she recognizes that they are a family, and by the way they act she finally gets how and why she also must have loved them in the past.
She goes from “I don't give a fuck”, not open to them, afraid and pressured to “I bet we were fun”, understanding and respecting them, even fighting for their family to survive.
(If she still didn't give a fuck she wouldn't have fought for them and with them when she could have just run away again.)
But she has already created new relations, so she goes back to those for now. It is what she is familiar with in this timeline. Does that mean she will never contact the guardians ever again? NO. Remember: James’s writing is about DETAILS, nuance. She is open to them again, and the final part of the movie shows this to us, especially her last interaction with Groot, Peter, and Nebula being friendly.
Oh, but Peter and Gamora will never be a couple again, their romance ended when she went back to the Ravengers.
… Again, if you see it this way I can’t change your mind. What I can confirm is that she doesn’t close herself to the team — especially to Peter — in the end.
When she says “I bet we were fun” it's the first time she acknowledges their former relationship without distancing herself from it. She could've said “I bet you were fun” or “I bet she was fun”, but instead she prefers to include herself with “we”. She pauses before letting go of Nowhere, stopping before entering her ship — what moves her forward is Nebula, who can see her sister’s changed attitude but still encourages her to take a step forward and go explore the galaxy, because she knows Gamora is not mature and ready yet for those feelings; just like she wasn't ready to be openly sentimental when Gamora joined the Guardians back in 2014.
And Peter is also not ready. Just like Gamora needs to find herself again and discover who she is, Peter needs too. He is lost without her after IW, we can see it during Holiday Special and in the beginning of Vol. 3 when he passes out because of alcohol abuse. Both don't know who they are in this new reality — and they will only find out with time. Time heals and reveals.
In the end, Peter doesn't have the same thought as in the begging: he doesn't want her to be who he once knew, he wants her as she is, this new version whom he still loves so much and wants to know more of. Although he wishes she could stay, he knows that she has her own time and while she learns about herself he will go do the same.
So yes, they’re not explicitly together as a couple in the final scene — neither they kiss nor make out, whatever you believe a relationship is made of — but they’ve changed and are open to one another. The last scene does not appear to me as an “I’ll never see you again”, but as a “Goodbye, see you soon”.
(Aside from all the small bits we had through the movie of a developing relationship between them; my favorite one being when Peter activates the auto-destruction code and Gamora smiles at him.)
Besides, you can't force anyone to fall in love in 48 hours!!
Yes, I also have some minor complaints about the story, but I can recognize that — with all the turbulence the characters and the production faced in the last few years — it was a satisfying end with a limited amount of time to a badass trilogy. The end is definitive but also open to future possibilities for all our favorite characters in their universe — some we might never see and it will only be to our imagination.
Again, you don't need to agree with me, but I had to do this, or else I would implode with thoughts. Thank you if read up here! My ask box is open if you want to talk more <3

You know what, I figured out why we're having so many errors in Destiny 2 now. It's because with the addition of Micah-10, we've finally reached a critical mass of women with drop dead gorgeous voices, and the game simply can't handle it anymore. It's like Telesto. Too powerful. If they'd actually put Ikora Rey in a rendered cutscene for more than 5 seconds it would have shut down the servers for good

I think some people don’t realize homestuck is a story about storytelling.
I was thinking about people insisting the Epilogues, hs^2, or Beyond Canon aren’t canon. And like. Yeah, that’s the point.
What does it mean to be canon anyway? Stories that get tied up in neat little bows are hard to expand upon. What happens after the happily ever after?
You can take it the direction of mundane day to day fluff (candy) or send them on another world shattering adventure (meat) but neither one is really real because… it’s a story. Homestuck was never really real. They’re both real. None of them are real.
This is all so clearly spelled out in the post canon material that I’m forced to assume they just. Have not engaged in it and / or ignore it on principle.

The beginning pt. I
Tumblr media
'Your path'
'Your fate'
'Yours only'
'Must do'
All she could do was listen to the voices repeating the same thing. Fate, fate, fate. She knew it was a dream so she wasn't scared, but beyond that Septiane wanted to know her fate.
Hers.
She continued walking through the path of stars, and when it ended a voice raised above the others:
'Now'.
She jumped.
A pair of white marble hands caught her in midair. The goddess. And when they looked directly at each other, Septiane heard her name: Siete.
Everything turned white and when she woke up she was in the middle of an unknown forest with unknow trees, seven blue crystals in her lap, so beautiful she wanted to eat them. She tried to, when she felt a bonk in her head. It was a tall man, dark skin, white hair and a scar on his face.
Then it was dark.
The man is Valkyon, yeah. He was the first person Septiane met in Eldarya.
Yes, she tried to eat a crystal, haha. Septiane is dumb.
It wasn't Valkyon's intention but Septiane fainted.
After waking up Septiane is interrogated and sent to prison because they think she has stolen the crystals to eat them.
Septiane tries to explain herself but the thing is she is confused too.
She arrived to Eldarya through her dream.

You saw an angel shopping at a convenience store. They were just sort of hanging out. It's actually a myth that all angels are less powerful than all gods, or all serve them. Angels exist to uphold cosmic law, while gods are powerful entities but are free to do what they will with that power.
Anyway, you end up going up to the angel and talking to them. It's slightly awkward at first. You expected them to be both more humanoid and more divine. They have a doll like body, made out of white hard plastic with obvious joints, their wings are made out of pure light, and they have black hair and glowing yellow eyes. They're only wearing a t shirt and baseball hat, nothing else. They seem incredibly uncomfortable being here.
You end up saying hi though, and asking them how they're doing. You realize it's not normal to talk to strangers like that but you're doing it. They seem a bit afraid to talk, but eventually you ask them if they're ok talking, and they say yes, and become ok with it. You offer them an apple, they say it's pretty but they can't eat, and they'll watch over it until it dies.
After talking for a bit they start talking with their boss, whose a very powerful angelic knight. They're negotiating with the fae again, and they need to buy some things that fae like, and they were sent to earth for the first time because thats where things are cheapest. They take this task very seriously, in angel culture one is only valued by their ability to serve their angelic duties, no other entitiy of the cosmos has a culture of such strictness. You show them some things you think might work. The apple was one of them apparently.
You end up complaining about your boss a bit. The angel asks you where you work and you point to the office building across the street from you. The angel said that they found the massive glass towers on earth pretty, that only human cities have them, and they didn't know what they were for. You've never thought of the place you worked as pretty.
The angel asks if you're a boy or a girl in a slightly awkward way eventually, and you explain that you're neither, just like them. They're a bit confused, because they thought humans had two sexes, but you explain that you chose the form you now inhabit. They tell you they would choose to be female if angels were allowed to. They tell you some demons who used to be angels chose genders, but that they'd rather die then fall so it'll never happen to them.
Eventually you have to say goodbye to them. They give you their number, it's an irrational number but your phone will call it all the same. You ask to take a photo of them, and they let you, they ask why and you tell them they're pretty. They became weirdly happy about that. You don't think angels call eachother things like pretty, especially not for just existing, for just being there. When you hug them their body is strangley cold, you remember they're closer to a machine than a human in how their body works, it's strangely calming and refreshing just to touch them. Mabye soon you can touch them again.

I've grown to be exhausted of the MCU. like I have no interest in seeing anything that comes out anymore. It feels almost bloated now, after Endgame. A lot of it is bland and feels too much like military propaganda. Marvel girl had style to it i guess. But I generally don't care for it like I did when I was younger.
But the moment I saw that funky raccoon again I'm like FUCK!!! ROCKET!! MY BOY ROCKET!!! IT'S ROCKET RACOON!!! ugh cris pratt.... THIS ONE IS ABOUT ROCKET!!!!! I GOTTA GO SEE ROCKET RACOON!!! MY BESTIE ROCKET!!!
